Well, I had another good breakfast here at the OSG was kind of hoping for a steak but they had baby steaks versus the first one I've had there so a guy sit next to me look like he had pancakes eggs and bacon sounded pretty good and then buttermilk pancakes were delicious. Probably the best I've ever had for a long time. Eggs and bacon came out right coffee was good even though there was a little slow filling. It service was good other than that and it's a cool little restaurant with a lot of old stuff in it that brings back a lot of memories. Check it out you'll love it. read more

OK.. Finally decided to give this place a try. Nice cute restaurant with cool decor, and friendly staff. Note to self, Friday night I guess it's karaoke night. Don't say I didn't warn you . I didn't care to listen to the music while I was eating. Ordered fried cod fish special and chicken fried steak dinner (since they don't do breakfast). Fried fish was nice and crispy. Came with coleslaw which I thought was pretty good and fries were nothing special just crinkled fries. My chicken fried steak was decent size, nice and crispy. The mash potato and gravy was OK. Gravy could have used more seasoning, I don't ever put salt on my food but I was tempted. But mixed with fried steak balanced it out little bit. I also opted for soup of the day which was Albondiga. Soup was not quite Albondiga but it wasn't too bad. Over the atmosphere was nice minus random people singing. Food was for me just ok, lacked in flavor. I would give this place 3 and half but definitely not 4 worthy for me. I probably won't come here again. read more

This is my third time visiting O.S.G. and they knock it out of the park every time. Whenever I order corned beef hash, I ask for it well done and crispy. This request is rarely met with satisfaction. Today's offering was perfectly cooked, alongside perfectly cooked over easy eggs and great hash browns! The plate was covered with food and all of it delicious! My in-laws brought us here for breakfast. I ordered the chorizo breakfast and was disappointed with the look and taste of the chorizo. Also, my homeboy potatoes were undercooked. The others in my group ordered the OSG breakfast, Denver omelette, and the hash breakfast. They had no complaints. Service was decent. This is my second time eating here and that makes me kinda sad because the food is always very good. I don't live right next to this place so I always forget about it. The restaurant has a home town diner kinda feel and has friendly service to match. I ordered the country fried steak with homeboy potatoes and added some biscuits and gravy because I'm fat and it makes me happy. The steak was perfectly crisp and tasted just like what you'd get if you asked your good grandmother on your mom's side to make. The homeboy potatoes were thin slices of potato with onions and peppers, they were so good I didn't need to add ketchup on anything. The biscuits were light and fluffy and paired nicely with the sausage gravy. This restaurant is probably underrated an overlooked. I would definitely add this to your regular dining list. read more

Amazing all the way around. It had a welcome home feel. The ambiance was comfortable and the food was excellent. Didn't have the breakfast buffet but oh my gosh I really wanted to. It all looked delicious. I went with the green Paźole, not a topping was lacking. The waitress was polite and the owner was very friendly. The water was very refreshing and the iced tea was fresh. Our daughter and granddaughter took my wife and I there a week or so ago, me, I always keep an open mind when visiting a new restaurant. We just loved it!! The old school decoration is really cool. Had my first visit to O.S.G. Cafe this morning. It was a very positive experience. Food was great and even more importantly, the service was a 10! Great atmosphere, with 80s music playing in the background. The owner was so nice and even brought us samples of his homemade banana bread and cheesecake. He was so friendly and inviting. I notice how he made a point to walk around to see how his patrons were enjoying their meal. This is definitely a place you walk away with a good feeling. Thank you for the great experience! I told the server I was gluten-free. She says I don't know what gluten-free is with a slight attitude. That pretty much said the tone for the rest of the visit there. All restaurant owners/managers should educate their servers on people with food allergies including the meaning of the words gluten-free. O.S.G Cafe is the new location for the former Old School Grub, which had been located at Superstition Springs mall. This new location is the former JB's/Galaxy Diner building...and it shows. The menu has some great stuff on it, ranging from burgers to full entrees, apps, and even fried twinkies! This menu doesn't have some of the cool, more upscale stuff the former location had, such as mimosa flights (a personal fav) and charcuterie boards, but more diner-type foods. Each table had a small specials board that demonstrated just that: your normal diner-style liver & onions, fish fry, meatloaf, etc. Being surrounded by 55+ communities, it makes sense. I just don't see this as drawing in any younger folks. Service-wise, the chef seemed to be fairly finicky, as I heard other patrons be advised that they could not make any substitutions to their meals, even for things that monetarily feasible to allow. I think the servers even feared them, because when we wanted lunch at 1050, the server said he would put it in, but was prepared to get yelled at. That's not a great starting work environment. The interior of the restaurant hasn't changed much from JB's. It has the same old booths, in various states of disrepair. The floors have been scraped to concrete and painted, but they were filthy, which made for a slip and fall waiting to happen. The decor is all over the place, with less charm than the old location had. We sat in the Steeler's/Egyptian corner. The front appeared to be the movies and tv area. With some rich woods, dark walls, new lighting and seating, this place could be something. Instead, each occupant has just left it pretty much the same, which is a shame. The lighted fans had long, flowing strings so people could reach the power chain. Interesting choice. Anyway, on to the food. We were seated and our drink orders taken. The beverages came right away. What did not, was a server. We waited just under 10 minutes before a young man, who wordlessly made it evident that it was not his section, took our order. He was nice enough, and even let us order lunch despite being 10 minutes from the official lunch-time hour. Mr. P ordered the Loco Moco: gravy, hamburger, green onions and two sunny eggs over rice. I chose the Aloha burger with onion rings. The Aloha was a burger on a brioche bun with gouda, ham, lettuce, tomato, pineapple and BBQ sauce. Our food took 25 minutes to arrive. The Loco Moco had ZERO green onions, which is Mr. P's favorite part. He hates to be a complainer, so he wouldn't let me comment to the server. My burger had no BBQ sauce. I can't do a dry burger, and no other condiment would do for this type of burger outside of a BBQ or teriyaki, So I advised the server, who brought me a cup of BBQ. The onion rings were fantastic. Our bill for two meals with drinks was a modest $29. So definitely worth it. I was just disheartened by the lack of ambience, service and cleanliness, especially for a place that has only been open for a few days. We may come here again, since my "old man" wants the liver & onions (gross), so we'll see how it progresses. read more

Everything we tried was great! We attended an event with "Taste of Arizona" and we were able to sample different menu items, including desserts! The cheesecake is the best around town! My favorite items were the homeboy potatoes, fried zucchini, and the veggie omelet. The burgers are awesome, as well. Service was also great! Can't wait to go back! read more

Service today was Atrocious, we had Tina as our sever with Rain Deer Antlers head piece on. she took our drink order real quick, it took a while for her to come back with our hot tea. It was only two cups of hot water and one tea bag, and slices of lemon not wedges. She took our order, which last time my partner was able to get one pancake and this time she was not going to do that at all. So he had to order something else and then she just walked away, we waited and waited for our food to come out over 30 mins or more. Not once did Tina come back to check on us, she kept going to other tables refilling coffee or taking orders. During our wait I seen her go back to the side area where they fill pop and things for customers. She started to eat food and took a few bites, then proceeded to go back out to front and take orders and handle food with out washing her hands. Later on she was walking around with a cup of coffee in her hand in and around front counter food prep area and common seating area. Yet again did not wash her hands but just went back taking orders ect. Finally after 45 mins it seemed, she brought our food to us and we both were out of tea for at least 20 mins or more. She asked if we wanted more hot water, WTH, no kidding we wanted more water for our tea. Last time we were given a pot of hot water with tea bags in it. we finished our meal and it took at least 20 mins or more for Tina to come back with our bill and then we paid over $30.00 for our meal. Guess its time not to go back there ever again, we had good service and bad service there , it seems like Tina is one of the worst servers there. So this one made us decided not to go back there ever again. read more

The food is way overpriced for what you get. They were out of straws and short on sugar. My onion rings were over cooked rings of breading. The ham and bean soup appears to be some form of deli ham chopped up and added to vegetable soup. The traditional omelet was had no flavor and the cheese was hard and dry. When for dinner 5:30 Friday night. There was 3 in our party. Sat down and we ordered our our food and drinks. Drinks came out right away. Approximately 45 minutes and asking where our food was and getting ready to walk out it came. It was warm not hot and the gravy was starting to form a skin on top. When our server came to check on us I told her that it was cold and unacceptable. She did offer to take it back and reheat it but I figured I did not want to wait again. I ate some and left the rest. She did take 10% off our bill but that did not really save the disappointing meal. I guess they just forgot our meal which was sitting, waiting to be brought to our table, this was unacceptable.
