Atmosphere 5/5 The dining areas are a "modern simple" design that is clean and open with high exposed ceilings. There is a large group table in the photos for your larger gatherings. Service 5/5 Excellent, seated quickly, coffee came quickly and service throughout the meal was timely, Well done! Food 5/5 My pick of the day was an order that included two eggs over easy, biscuit and gravy with country fried potatoes. Classic country breakfast. Also had an order of their Cinnamon glazed French toast for investigative purposes; took one for the team! After a liberal painting of the potato's and eggs with Chiluba hot sauce it was time for chow. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The food is absolutely delicious. I've been here many times and each time I try something new and I've never been disappointed. We walked in and got sat right away, and our server was the sweetest lady she went above and beyond, and I forgot her name or I put it in here. The restaurant was very clean, orderly a lot of different people very upbeat place to eat If you've never been here, you've got to try it. It's like a big family there and the food is homemade. Yesterday, my sisters and I went to Henhouse Cafe in Gilbert for breakfast. It had probably been years since I'd last been there, and we decided it was the perfect place for a sisters' breakfast. I'm so glad we went. The food was amazing. I ordered the sausage, and it was so good--it had a homemade taste, like something my mother used to make. The potatoes were absolutely delicious as well. I couldn't even finish my meal because it was so filling and satisfying. I will definitely be coming back. I also want to give special kudos to our waitress, Lori. She provided some of the best customer service I've experienced in a long time. She greeted us with a warm smile as soon as we sat down and consistently checked on us to see if we needed anything. She was attentive, friendly, and truly amazing. Both my sisters and I agreed that we'll be back, and we hope we get Lori again. These days, it's rare to receive that level of attention and excellent customer service, and she really made our experience special. read more

Henhouse is a convenient breakfast spot. My go to order is the Texas benedict. It is soo good. The order comes with southwest cornbread, slow-roasted carnitas pork, poached eggs, and a savory green chile hollandaise, served with a side of potatoes. I lovee everything about it. Potatoes and eggs were cooked perfectly. The hollandaise sauce - delicious!! Service is nice. Staff are usually very attentive in refilling waters and getting the things we need. Lots of tables inside, so we usually never have to wait. Parking is easy. read more

We decided to give Henhouse Cafe a try. Before going, I checked to see where the closest location to our hotel was located. The one I found wasn't very close at all. Once we were in AZ, my husband took a closer look -- and lo and behold! There was one about a couple of blocks away! Why I couldn't find it, I don't know, but I'm glad my husband found it. As for ambiance, they have a section in the back where they sell items such as baskets and cooking utensils. We were there for a late morning breakfast. The place is popular, but we didn't have to wait long to be seated. It turned out the hostess was also our server. Going in, we both knew what we wanted, which was the "2 classic benedicts", which come with a side of sliced potatoes. To drink, I had a lemonade while my husband had coffee. We started our experience with a wonderful server, but unfortunately we were switched to a different server. It went completely downhill from there. Maribel was noticeably unpleasant and slamming things down on the table, which made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. To make things worse we were also celebrating my mother in laws birthday. She initially tried to charge us for a birthday pancake. Which we understood was complimentary. We also paid with cash and were told we could not receive change. My boyfriend and me have been coming here for a few years now, and have never experienced service as bad as this one. I really hope management addresses the issue, because guest should not feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. read more

Wow! Love this place. Dani Terry and Kayla took good care of us. What a crew! The team works together so effectively there. Our food was marvelous. My wife is strawberry cheesecake French toast with a side of egg and bacon. I had the pork chops and eggs, which were wonderful with a side of green sauce. Let's start with the positives... This location has expanded and added a second bathroom so that was good, the amount of space here is nice, they have a little shopping section with farmhouse style decor much is cute. The waitress was super nice and very apologetic because of how many times she had to tell me no or they don't carry that lol The drinks choice is the bare minimum. I asked if the orange juice was served in a large glass, for almost $5 I want more than two gulps of orange juice. I was told no they are only served in small glasses (I saw the glass it's roughly 6oz) that's just not enough FOR ME. I understand that oj is expensive and I'd be happy to pay $8 for a large glass but that wasn't an option. I then requested a root beer... they didn't carry that "only coke products" she said so I asked about sweet tea and the waitress winced as she said we have black tea and you can add sugar. To this I said okay so that's what I got. It was extremely bitter and I believe I added at least ten packets of sugar I did ask if they carry simple syrup because they advertise that they have a coffee bar so I thought they might carry that for the coffees but they didn't not have that either. Next the food. I ordered the veggie skillet, the veggies were lightly cooked, not delivered on a skillet and still were pretty crunchy so not really skillet style (in my opinion) I asked about substitution options for the toast, I got a pancake instead of toast. The pancake was really dry and not very fluffy at all, it was HUGE though, it was as big as the dinner plate they served it on with a comical amount of syrup I believe they gave me a 2oz cup of syrup for a giant pancake! (As pictured) (originally after placing my order I was told that they ran out of pancake batter and if I wanted French toast instead but about three minutes later they ended up finding more pancake batter and just made me the pancake) We were seated right away so that's another plus but I just won't be coming here again read more

The food was really good, but the service felt rushed. Our waitress kept trying to clear our plates before we were even finished. At one point, my friend still had a fork in her hand, and the waitress reached for it until my friend said she was still using it - pretty rude. The food itself was great, though. I had the Grandpa Skillet, which was delicious, and my friends enjoyed the Texas Benedict, Strawberry cheesecake french toast, and the Green Chile Skillet. We just wish we hadn't felt so rushed. We were also there when there were so many available tables, so I dont know why they were rushing us out and we spent less than an hour there because our plates were forcefully taken away. read more

7/19/25: it's been three months since we visited this location (shame on me for taking so long to write this) but although I forgot what my sister ordered, I know I ate the delicious lemon mascarpone pancake. I remember our server being super friendly & attentive, the place was very clean & uncluttered, and they had a shopping area inside (think Cracker Barrel, but less "crap", more high-end items). :-) If you want a hearty, hot breakfast, Henhouse Cafe is an excellent choice. read more

Referred to by a friend, this place was decently packed, but no wait time. The waitresses were all very polite and attentive. We were debating chicken fried chicken, biscuits and gravy and the coconut creampie french toast... we got the chicken fried chicken with a biscuit, and the French toast. The biscuit was massive and so fluffy!! Their biscuits are amazing! The French toast was perfect, syrup to the side, not too much coconut cream.. and the cappuccino.. my gosh!! We went to Henhouse yesterday for breakfast and had an amazing experience! Our server, I really wish I remembered her name, was fantastic! We ordered a kids meal w bacon, scrambled eggs, and a pancake; the chicken fried steak; the biscuit, egg, bacon, and potatoes meal (forget name), and I had the machaca skillet. The server recommended I try the skillet with a side of the green chili sauce and I'm so glad I did!! Delicious! The pancake was HUGE, my husband said the biscuit that came w his chicken fried steak was the star of the show, and that the meal itself was the best he had had in a very long time! The restaurant is cute, with a little store in the lobby. Definitely recommend - sorry the pics are half eaten, by the time I remembered it was too late! Haha! read more

It's been about 6 months since I've hit up Henhouse Cafe, but their Lemon Blueberry Mascarpone Pancakes wouldn't leave my brain alone this morning. As much as I wanted to hurkle-durkle (yes, that's a thing, look it up!), it wasn't happening. Odd thing is, I'm not even a pancake guy, I usually go for a breakfast burrito or French Toast! The service is always fantastic! Very attentive, super friendly, smiles everywhere....A+. The space itself is clean, welcoming and has good vibes. Checked out this breakfast spot on a Saturday. It was a bit busy but we got seated right away. We placed our order quickly and the food came out fast too. I got the strawberry cheesecake French toast and it was so good! My husband also liked their iced coffee, so much he got two. This place is a bit medium size but definitely a place to check out. Great place if you're looking for an open area inside and outside. Coffee is pretty good. My breakfast burrito is excellent. I'm a big eater especially breakfast and I took half of it home. I'm 62 from SoCal and know good Mexican food and the burrito was top-notch. A lot of local people in here and busy. I highly recommend recommended. Stopped here today after years of driving past. It's a very cute place with a little gift shop in the waiting area. All of the staff we encountered were warm and welcoming: the hostess, our sweet server, and I think it was the owner who also stopped by our table. I had a Beyond Grilled Cheese sandwich with fries. Their sourdough bread is really fresh and delicious and grilled up nicely. They were generous with the amount of bacon in the sandwich also. I liked that there was some kind of seasoning on the french fries. My mom and sisters all ordered breakfast and were happy with their choices too. A friend and I came here after a nice walk. The wait time was about 25-30 min which was fine with us. We picked our meals before being seated so hopefully the food could arrive quicker. When seated we were told the server would be sent over right away for drink orders. The server didn't arrive for a noticeable amount of time. We were left wondering what happened. When we did order (right away) we were told it would be 25 min for food. It ended up being 45-50 min, it was hard to wait especially without updates. At around the 40 min mark the server came out and asked how my friend wanted her eggs because they were just starting our meals. They ended up bringing out the wrong food for her and forgetting the donuts which should have been brought out before the main dishes. When we got to try our food, it was good and the portion was big. I ended up getting the green chili pork skillet without pico. My only issues with it were that my tortillas were hard and crunchy vs soft and there was a random mushroom in my skillet. Our server didn't make the experience pleasant, we felt forgotten and lacking contact/updates especially since the original statement of when food should be arriving was severely overstated. I understand the nationwide short staffing issues and it also looked manageable with the amount of front end and cook staff visible that day. Based on this visit alone and having it be a first experience, I can only give it 2 stars. read more

He used to go to this place every other week, but we tried it again a couple days ago, and I was very disappointed. My dad of that that has traumatic brain injury has to have thickened liquids to drink and be able to eat we brought in for him to try to enjoy a meal and a guy with a beard came over and said we absolutely can't have that. We tried to explain this situation to him and he said no, or drink it off the floor. we did order four meals and a couple drinks. The bill was $80 for breakfast. Two of us are vets and one active Air force. They have a big sign on the wall we proudly serve vets and I don't think that is true. read more

My husband and I frequent this breakfast and brunch establishment. They are delicious and open as early as 6:30am and closes at 2pm daily. We had the Texas Benedict with pulled pork and cornbread And their French toast. They do it right at the Henhouse. There are 2 locations in Gilbert. If you hungry bring a friend or two. Should be zero starts! Was taken by a friend. Service was horrible. Attitude of staff was the one thing my wife remembered - waitress seemed bothered like she didn't want to be there. Breakfast burrito was just a wrap filled with potatoes - nothing else! A $16 ripoff! Coffee was like dishwaters. Place was busy - what am I missing? First time at this location. Was pleasantly surprised at the abundance of customers. It was a rainy Friday morning. This placed is very clean and well staffed. Dinning alone, I sat at the counter. I had constant service by 2 servers. I ordered the eggs medium, sausage and sourdough. Eggs fryed perfectly. Sausage was very tasty, I understand they make their own Quality bread. Both my servers were friendly and helpful. Actually of the 3 locations that I have dined at, this may be my favorite!
