Just had breakfast at Sunnyside Breakfast Lounge and was charged $10 more for the same exact meal. Interesting my bill had a new charge of $4.99 to add bacon when I actually substituted bacon for chicken in the Chili Verde Omelet. According to the son-in-law of the owner, substituting bacon for chicken now requires them to enter "add bacon" in the system so the cook knows what to do and that come with a $4.99 price bump per plate!! Is this actually the new owners intent?? Seems disingenuous to me!! My wife and I have been loyal customers for 9 years - well we are done; never going back!! Enjoy the $10 up charge because you will never see another penny of my money. I am curious, does the menu say there will be a 33% up charge for substitutions?? read more

This was our first time trying Sunnyside Breakfast Lounge. Safe to say, we were NOT disappointed. Expected a decent amount of pancakes in my boyfriend's order, but was pleasantly surprised to open the pancake box and find a colossal stack of pancakes, so large that the takeout box couldn't withstand the weight of the pancakes. We decided to try this place after a hike nearby and it did not disappoint. I got the flattened chimi with added bacon and it was fire!!! The service was amazing, and the place filled up super fast. We have been regulars at Sunnysides since it opened. Sadly our trusty favorite breakfast spot is just not as good as it used to be. We walked in and the restaurant was freezing cold and apparently no one knows how to turn on a heater. So we sat and ate our breakfast in the cold. They are now charging 3.5 for a side of toast that no longer comes with the chicken fried steak. The buttermilk pancakes and the corn beef hash have always been my favorite and even those tasted different and were not nearly as good. Sadly, new ownership is showing and not in a good way. Service is always good here though. If you get the servers that have been here with the prior ownership. Looks like we will be on the hunt for a new favorite breakfast spot. :( read more

The food was mediocre. We ordered the Denver Omelette and it was okay, nothing amazing. You have three choices for fries, but two of the three have a seasoning so I ordered the option that was plain, tater tots. The tater tots were cooked nicely. The reason for my 1 rating has to do with customer service. When the bill came, I presented my Dining Advantage coupon that I purchased on the Dining Advantage app. You essentially pay a price ahead for the coupon and then it's suppose to give you BOGO at the establishment. The server said that they would not take the coupon and that there was a sign on the door. I asked the server where this sign was located because it definitely not something most average customers would see. On my way out, I saw the sign to the right of the door on a small little index card. Hence why most customers would not even notice it. The problem I have here is that it's now on the customer instead of the restaurant to get on Dining Advantage to get this coupon removed. Think about it, why would Sunnyside Breakfast Lounge want to be taken off their coupon program when it's clearly bringing in business (like me) and then they don't need to honor it. I think I'm just so annoyed because the coupon brought us to this restaurant and if I had known I would have gone to Red White and Brew down the street that for the same price was better food and larger portions with leftovers! read more

Slow service - just about zero customer service while there. Normally a server will come at once to find out what kind of beverage you'd like .we waited quite a while for that as even tho only two other tables had guests . Not once did our server stop by to find out if we needed anything else. Maybe she was having a difficult day, but still..... Also my lox bagel had smoked / cured salmon , thick cut , a bit chewy and super salty to the point it burnt my mouth. So definitely not lox but cured salmon ( everything else was delicious and I ate it all except the salmon which I did not eat and asked our server to let the chef know that it was salty to the point of burning the mouth) My husband had a burger with the house potatoes and all was very good. read more

Went Friday morning before going to spring training (Go Mariners!!), had to wait maybe 10 minutes before once we were sat the waitress was on top of it! Good menu selection for a picky eater and more adventurous eaters. I got the breakfast chimi add mushrooms as well as someone else at our table. I loved it! The salsa had great flavor with almost no spice which my table mate loves because they are a baby (self admittedly) when it comes to spice. Very cute interior and dim lighting for a breakfast joint. Pretty terrible service. Only 5 tables were sat. No line. Pretty dead. Took 15 mins after being sat for anyone to come up. Then took about 20 mins for the drinks. The michelada was just tomato juice (way too much) & kind of flat beer. The mimosa was small & tasted like carbonated koolaid. Both drinks weren't very cold either. Didn't even want to wait for our orders. Just left after each taking a sip of our drinks. Normally I don't write bad reviews, but I'm not sure how the rating is so high. I ordered oatmeal with banana. 2 minutes before they bring out the food the waiter tells me they are out of bananas. He asked do you want the other fruit instead? 4.5 stars. Service is a full 5 stars. I believe this is family run. At least it has that feel. I didn't ask but seems like the greeters were kids of the people in charge. The whole staff was friendly and outwardly engaging. My server was Hilary and she was outstanding. On top of everything including small talk. Food is fresh and well prepared. I would call it elevated diner food if I were to give it a category. I also thought it was cool that they have a guide on the menu of all the different ways you can have your eggs cooked and what to expect with each. Despite being a fairly large place, the space is nice and lends really well to intimacy as the restaurant is broken up into separate sections including a fully shaded outdoor patio. It's been a few years since I've been here, because I had moved but recently came back to the area. Sunnyside was one of my favourite places for breakfast/brunch. Unfortunately, when I cam back to this location, the service we received was quite awful. There may have only been on server on a weekday morning, but initially there were only three tables occupied at the time we were making our order. The server misinterpreted our order and only brought us a single side item instead of the meal with the side we asked for. Without checking on us, the server then just gave us the bill. We noticed the bill only had one item, so we waited for him to come back and pointed out that we actually ordered a meal. The server was not apologetic and instead insinuated it was our fault for misleading him. When the meal finally came up, he did not bring us any extra plates to help us share, which we did specify we were going to do when we ordered both the first and second time we placed the order. Our server also never bothered to come back and offer us an extra plate while we were eating and clearly having trouble over one plate. We were so put off but the poor service that we did not want to trouble our server more by asking for additional plates. It seemed like every request we made was met with a literal sigh. The food and coffee were admittedly very good, so props to kitchen for that, but the service that day was appalling. We still tried to be friendly, but our server still could not give us the time of day. read more

This is my favorite go to for breakfast. Anytime we come, we are always greeted by the host/hostess and usually get sat right away. The food is amazing. My go to is the bagel sandwich and it is alway on point. I love that I have the choice of breakfast sides including tots which I always get. They come out golden brown and crispy. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. We came for breakfast on a Friday morning. When my wife and arrived we were greeted and shown to our table. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. He took our drink orders. I had coffee my wife ordered orange juice. I noticed someone in the prep area running oranges through a juicer, so you know the juice is fresh. After reviewing the menu, i decided on the chimi supreme. Chile verde smothered chimi filled with chorizo. ham. bacon, sausage. pepper jack cheese, egg and potato. Topped w th pico de gallo and crema. It comes un fried, but for 50 cents more I chose to have it fried. I cut it down the middle and realized this chimi was the size of two normal chimis. I spooned the chili verde ovet the two halves. The flavors harmoniously worked together to create a mouthwatering sensation. I was barely able to finish it. I was impressed with this cafe. The service and quality of food is above average. This restaurant will hold a place on my favorite breakfast list. read more

The food was absolutely delicious and a bigger portion than expected , my husband got the breakfast tacos which were chefs kiss yumm; I had the waffle with pecans and cream ...next time I'll get the cream on the side because it over powered the waffle and I felt like I wasted half of my meal / service was friendly and a good chat but a little slow , the male server I saw assisting the couple next to us was amazing though so maybe our server was having some outside of work issues as she stayed on her phone. Amazing brunch / breakfast spot! Everything on their menu appears to be made to order, meaning it's fresh. The atmosphere is country casual & the light aroma of freshly squeezed orange juice fills the air. The coffee was great & my cup was never empty; they're on top of coffee refills! Our server was super patient as our party reviewed the menu... the options seemed limitless! After making a suggestion about the Plain Jane Eggs Benny, he took our order. When our order came, it seemed like no time had passed. The food presentation was as exceptional as the food itself. Brunch for 6 here yesterday. Pleasant setting with comfortable outdoor seating. Menu is extensive with burgers and a number of Mexican entrees in addition to the normal breakfast entrees. We were seated quickly and service was polite and speedy. I ordered the large biscuits & gravy with a sunny side up egg on top (see photo). The egg was perfect. There were two huge biscuits that I would put in the "good but not great" category. The gravy was just OK - didn't see any bits of sausage in it, and the texture was a bit gelatinous instead of being smooth and creamy. Everyone else really enjoyed their meal. Nice "everyday" place, but I think they need a "signature" dish or two to crank it up a notch. read more

Manager here is rude. Yelp is for describing if we like the food and service. Everyone has different likes and opinions. Yes we complained about a lot of things in a previous review and manager defended alot, but was not very nice. Our silverware was dirty and we didn't even have any food or coffee yet to make them dirty ourselves Food was not hot and our waitress did not bring it to us. We didnt like the coffee she said was a french roast, the waitress did say it was a new coffee distributor since they were not able to get from there normal one anymore. I have never been to a breakfast place where the coffee was not drinkable. We know what good breakfast is like for example at First Watch a mile down the road at McKellips and the one on Dobson, they have great amazing food and coffee. They are also consistent in serving good food with containers of coffee on every table. The managers comment about we should go to IHOP totally uncalled for. I do not feel we were rude, we were being honest about our feelings, we just expected better as my friend had been there a few years back and said was good and were expecting same. read more

We stopped here after a hike at Saguaro Lake. We were happy to learn that their patio is dog friendly. The outdoor patio was great. Our server Luis was friendly and funny. The prices were a bit on the high side, but the food was really good. I had the biscuits and gravy, my favorite dish, and their gravy was super flavorful and the biscuits were huge! And the coffee was good too. We got two scrambled eggs for our dog and they brought her a good-size plate of eggs. Everyone else liked their food. My wife had the All American.
