Yet another review! We were in a rush and got our bagels to go. Great bagels and love the bagel breakfast sandwich recipes. Today they burned my onions on my onion bagel. When I grabbed ahold of it most of the burned or overcooked onions fell off. So, the taste of burned onion was minimal. Guys! If you see burned bagels toss them! Don't serve them! (It could be sneaky to serve them to 'to go' customers but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt), or sell them as day old and let the customer decide. Thank Kokobelli! And... Came by for a quick weekend brunch and it was a great time! The breakfast bagels are solid, and their bagel variety is large! I really liked the Monterey, and their bagel variety scrambled eggs and cream cheese paired really well together. Fruit smoothies also contain ice cream which was interesting. The staff are super friendly, and there's plenty of indoor and outdoor patio seating. Not too loud so you can definitely hold a conversation with friends here. read more

I'm always looking out for bagel shops, and came across Kokobelli Bagel Cafe on Yelp. After a quick drive on Sunday morning, I was in the shop ordering a bagel, egg, and cheese sandwich. I had gone around 10:30am-11am and obviously they had been busy that morning, since several of their bagels were already sold out. They didn't allow for switching regular cheese for cream cheese on the sandwich (like other bagel shops do), so it was an extra cost to add cream cheese. I got it with the chive cream cheese, which was actually quite good. Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of the texture of their egg, and the bagel wasn't as nice and fluffy soft as I'd expected. Overall, if I was just looking for bagel & cream cheese, I'd maybe stop in. Probably wouldn't spend the money for a bagel sandwich. If you're in the area, check them out. read more

Kokobelli is a neighborhood favorite to many, and it's now become mine too! I tried it once many years ago and thought it was ok. This time, the service and the food were so good, they will be seeing us more often. I tried it on a Sunday, at around 1:00pm. I was surprised to see how busy it was, especially when they close at 2. I ordered the sunrise with Turkey bacon, without cheese on a toasted sesame bagel. I also ordered a latte with almond milk. Despite being so busy, my order was served pretty quickly and the bagel was piping hot, and so was the coffee. The bagel was so delicious. They added a generous portion of turkey bacon which was crispy and flavorful. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The bagel itself is pretty big so I was full by the time I finished. The coffee was my favorite too. Although I am not really a big fan of alternative milks, this latte was delicious I finished it all! Not sure what brand of almond milk they use, but it works really well with their coffee. I noticed while I was ordering that Kokobelli offers four different flavors of gluten free bagels too. I overheard a customer who after finishing his meal made it a point to go to the register and let the server know how much he enjoyed his gluten free bagel. He said "this is the best gluten free bagel I have ever had!". The server then shared that Kokobelli does not bake gluten free bagels at the store but they source their bagels from a third- party provider in Scottsdale. This allows them to manage cross contamination in a better way. So glad I gave Kokobelli a try after so many years. Their service was very friendly and the food and coffee were delicious. They are also very clean including the bathroom which was spotless. We will be returning :) read more

This place has the best bagels I think I've ever had. When entering the place was hopping. The line was mostly pick up but we ordered at the counter and it was delivered with a smile. The tables were full of families, couples both young and old. Some eating breakfast and others just bagels and coffee. What are great little bagel shop! I stopped in for a quick bagel and was not disappointed. I just got an everything bagel with butter, the butter was a little light and bare in some areas, but still delicious. A little more attention to detail would be great because you wouldn't leave a bagel bare with no cream cheese. The service was good. The person taking orders was neither friendly or rude. There is a lot of seating inside and outside, which is nice. You have to have a code to use the restroom. Overall, I would eat here again, but maybe ask for an extra side of butter. read more

Wonderful selection of sweet and savory. Great value! Got a pink drink and orange juice. Also tried there, tomato soup, and it was yummy! Kind cashier and got my 7 bagels, jalapeno and strawberry cream cheese two drinks and soup quickly. I have been a regular customer here for a long time and often come in weekly or order through the Kokobelli app and DoorDash because I genuinely love this bagel shop. That is why this experience was so disappointing. Over the past few weeks I have had repeated issues with online orders not going through correctly. I have called the store before regarding app errors and even waited hours for a DoorDash order only to find out the iPad was broken. I understand that technical issues happen which is why I was not upset and was only confused. Yesterday morning my order was placed around 8:45 am and picked up around 9:00 am. Once again my sandwich was made incorrectly despite modifications I have requested multiple times in the app. I waited in line to politely explain that the changes were not showing up and that this has now happened twice. Instead of being heard I was cut off mid sentence multiple times and spoken about loudly to a manager within earshot which was embarrassing. I was repeatedly talked over while trying to explain the issue. I was not rude I did not raise my voice and I was even willing to pay for a replacement sandwich. Despite that I was met with irritation defensiveness and eventually stonewalling. The interaction ended with the staff member turning away from me mid conversation and helping the next customer while I stood there in a silent line of people. I left in tears and did not even eat the food. I work in customer service myself and understand how busy mornings can be but I would never speak to a customer this way. Mistakes happen but how they are handled matters more. I am deeply disappointed especially as someone who has supported this business for a long time. The food is good and I do enjoy their breakfast sandwiches. HOWEVER... Don't order from here on any food delivery app on a Sunday. For whatever reason, whoever works here on a Sunday will always add onions to your bagel sandwich if you add bacon. To the point where you can't tell if there even was bacon, egg, or anything else added to it, it just becomes a red onion bagel sandwich. 1st time, ok whatever, could be a simple mistake. But a 2nd time on a separate Sunday is suspicious. Strange enough this doesn't happen when I order on other days. A customer shouldn't have to add in the order notes in time to specifically ensure that onions are NOT added to the sandwich. The bagels won't blow you away, especially if you come from the bagel capital - NYC. However, these bagels are better than store bought and will suffice. They also have a much larger variety than the basic flavors you may find at the local grocery store. The Sunrise with meat was not great, the egg lacked flavor. The bacon was soft, I prefer it to be crispy but the everything bagel flavor and texture made up for it. The service was great, the lady at the counter was super sweet taking my order and the food came out quick. It's also a great place to eat at, as there are many tables inside and out! read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I was given a $10 off card from this location and I tried to use it this morning. I was having issues with my purchase so I talked to the cashier about the $10 credit and she was not very helpful but was trying to help so she text her co partner from what she said, waited about 15-20 min with nothing resolved. A older man walked up I guess the boss so I explained to him what was going on with the card. He said I had to spend $30 to get the $10 off no where on the card it stated that only $10 off within 7 days on it. He said he really doesn't know the in and out of the promotion and got MAD and threw the card at the cashier and walked off. This was very unprofessional for a business owner to act and to disrespect another employee the way he did. This was all over a bagel and a drink. I hope he apologizes to his co worker. WOW.. this is what you call a Horrible boss if thats what you want to call yourself or business owner. HORRIBLE!!! I was not being rude I was just stating what the card said on it. Also, throwing the $10 card at you employee is out right foolishness so you're not really worried about your employees. My husband and I used to come here almost every weekend when we moved to the area in 2015. The first few years were great. The last few years, not so much. Constantly feel like orders are wrong or missing an item. I always ask for our bagels to be double-toasted, and not once have they been double-toasted. Always feel like our bagels are lightly to not even hot. For the price, I also would like to see a little more cream cheese versus the thinnest layer possible. Today, I came in to get an order to go. Once again, bagels were barely toasted. What I was not expecting was the food poisoning to come shortly after we ate our completely different orders. How was it that might Husband got sick and ran to the bathroom and then shortly after I was feeling the same way with completely different orders? I have always been curious about this spot and I am so happy I finally tried it out! Honestly, not sure why people rated this anything under than 5 stars. It's so delicious and there was a line out the door, and tables filled.. clearly for a reason! Customer service was great and polite. The selection of bagels is very wide compared to other bagel shops. They offer different sandwiches and coffees. Although it was pretty busy, our breakfast and coffee came out VERY quick! This will have to be a weekly breakfast spot and I can't wait to bring their bagels to a function. Ambience was great, it was busy but everyone was there to enjoy the delicious food. Gilbert resident here, Kokobelli in Mesa is a hit! Good seasoning but not burnt tasting Soft but has a good crust (crispy). It's a casual order at the counter and they call your name dining experience but with abundant seating and free refills on coffee. The cream cheese is flavorful (even plain) with a smooth texture and and they don't skimp. Definitely a place to try! read more

This New Yorker approves of these bagels! They are so artisanal! The variety of the bagels they provide is outrageous - I saw bagel flavors I've never heard of before, everything from tomato to blueberry to pumpkin to jalapeno cheddar to French toast to cranberry to chocolate. The signature ones are great. I got the nova, which is smoked salmon, cream cheese, onions, capers, and tomato. I love that I could sub in red pepper cream cheese for no extra price. The nova was hefty! And toasted to perfection. I also got a tub of honey walnut cream cheese to go, and it was delicious. I have to say the staff is working their butt off. The line was long and you may have to wait a little while for your order. But they're all twirling about behind the cashier making it all happen and not taking a single break. And when I had a simple question for them, like where to get a cup of water, they answered so nicely and not like I was bugging them. Much appreciated! read more

Horrible service. Ordered an online order, they were out of over half our bagels. I just wanted a refund, and they said they could not refund and I was just screwed basically and had to pick out of the few bagels they had left. Paid almost 50 bucks for bagels and got over half of flavors we will not even eat. Was offered no sort of compensation or anything to make it right. Used to like this place, but if this is the way they do business I will not be back and do not recommend this place, especially for online orders. Responding to owner... Wow calling the customer a liar? Very professional! I was 100% told I could not have any sort of refund after the manager "talked to you" and was forced to choose from flavors that were leftover that my family would not eat. Interesting that a review that was on here is now gone. I placed an order back in June. I placed the order the day before I planned to pick it up. The order was for three bakers dozen bagels and 4 flavored cream cheese. I arrived to pick up the order(it is a 70 minute drive to get to this place) but decided to have a bagel to eat then before going home. My order was packed and on a counter next to the register. After eating my bagel I went to pick up my order and check its contents. One of the dozen was to be all cranberry. Well it was 6 cranberry and 7 blueberry. One of the other dozen was to be all jalapeno...it included 5 onion. The final dozen were correct and all jalapeno. The flavored cream cheese was all plain. I pointed the errors out to the clerk and she told me that they ran out of the things I ordered...now I did order them the day before. I objected and suggested that I wanted credit for what she could not order....I was told that this was a special order and she could not give a partial credit. I suggested then she give me full credit. That did not go well. After arguing for a bit she left and came back with the 4 flavored creamed cheese I had ordered. Later when I opened them to use them I found that they were three days past the sell by date and covered in mold. The bagel flavors were never corrected. I tried a number of times to contact the manager to see if we could work something out as I still like their bagels. I called three times and each time I was told there was nobody to talk to me. I drove up to the place to visit but was also told there was nobody that would talk with me. Recently I started getting information(SPAM) sent to me telling me how I was some kind of a special client. I felt encouraged and wrote an email to the owner explaining that I would like to just talk to him and then continue buying the bagels. There has been no response. I am at a loss to figure out how to approach these folks...so I will not. They are not a place that I will visit and I will also strongly suggest that you not visit either. read more

The cheese bagel was huge and let me tell you it was a perfect balance of chewy, soft and crunchy. I got the chive cream cheese and they do not skimp. It was the perfect balance of chives.
