I SO wanted to like this place! I love supporting local businesses. We spent the morning on Salt River and decided to forgo our favorite breakfast place to try My Sister's Cafe. The waitress was very sweet and said we would love the potatoes O'Brien. I ordered them with the biscuits and gravy. When the food arrived, I was disappointed to see how dry the potatoes were. I smothered them with ketchup and proceeded to eat. They were definitely as dry as they looked. Other members of our party were commenting on the gravy and said that it was Libbys from a can. I don't know if it was or not, but it was not good. It was thick and gooey . I couldn't finish it. Just a side note, this is my absolute favorite breakfast food AND I come from the "clean your plate club". Unfortunately, 3 of the 4 people that ate at our table were not feeling well after eating the gravy. The 4th person had not eaten it. I hate that this review is so harsh, but maybe there will be improvement in the future. I wish the owners the best of luck and hopefully the 4 and 5 stars keep coming, but as for me and mine, it will not be so. read more

The food was good. But not amazing. Portions were a bit small (for instance the breakfast burrito.) Did not have healthier option substitutions like turkey bacon or whole wheat for toast (which I don't hold against them, it's just worth noting.) Wait time was quite long. There were things I really wanted to love, like the homemade cinnamon roll. But the food tasted fairly average - by no means bad. If it's convenient, I say go! But wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

***DINNER MENU REVIEW*** Dinner available 4pm-8pm Friday and Saturday After a great visit for breakfast, I wanted to return to try the dinner side of things. They've advised that they can modify things if requested, so I did just that being that I eat mostly vegetarian. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo without chicken and substitute veggies. It came out delicious and even the staff commented they would have to try it since it looked delicious. For $15 it was a very large portion, and I easily ate it 2-3 times over the weekend. This is a quaint location with a small town feel. Soon they will be offering a Paint and Sip with other activities as well. Lots to come so be sure to check out this location! Service was not good at all. Waitress never asked for what side I would like; which all sandwiches come with a side. Note I never received my side. After looking at receipt that I received through Toast app, was charged for Ice Tea. I only had water. We asked for mustard; mustard was finally delivered after we had finished eating. Very small quantities of food. Service was lacking, ladies sent more time talking with each other than serving customers. Over easy eggs were actually over hard eggs. 3 bites of hash browns. I am not accustomed to 1 Star restaurants, but elderly people in Gold Canyon likely don't know the difference. We were pretty hungry after our hiking trip and didn't want to drive back to the Valley to grab breakfast so we decided to try out this breakfast place. It's easy to find. Located right off the main highway in a well visible strip mall. The service was friendly but the wait times were painful. We sat down immediately and got our drinks but the food order took close to 45 minutes for pancakes and eggs. We didn't have too large or a group (5 people) and the manager/owner kept checking in on us which was nice, but only half of our order came out. And we waited another 10 minutes for the remainder of the food. By that time, my eggs were cold. Food wise, we had: Chicken Fried Steak Chicken & Waffles (the chicken was only 2 small pieces of chicken tenders) GF pancakes Waffles w scramble eggs, potatoes and bacon Pancakes, eggs over easy, potatoes and bacon The food tasted well but service was just really slow. If you have no where to go and don't mind the wait, then it's your place. read more

Gold Canyon has a breakfast and lunch spot again! You need to go! It's got the normal diner-type food but done custom, tasty, and with a friendly ambiance. Service was attentive and fast. My wife had burger done just the way she likes it, and my chili dog was made with fresh, made from scratch chili. I need to come back for breakfast soon and find out how they serve that up. Food is sold mostly a-la-carte, so you'll have to order fries or other sides separately. No worries there--my "small" fries was nice and big. Open 7am to 2pm daily. See you there! read more

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday breakfast with my cousin and uncle! Upon entering the building it was very inviting and we were quickly seated. To start - coffee! The mugs are a good size and kept the coffee ($3) warm. The table has individual creamers along with individual jelly for toast. To eat I ordered 1 piece of French toast ($4 or $10 for a full order which is 3 slices) and a half order of biscuit and gravy ($6). I simply couldn't decide between my two favorites and the server mentioned the french toast was really good so I made a custom breakfast. The server said she would be right back with my French toast after serving everything else, but then disappeared for over 5 minutes. Even though it took longer than promised to arrive and was not hot, I lucked out and ended up receiving a whole order of French toast so I could share with the table! It was very good and I really liked the syrup that was served with it. The biscuit and gravy were also very good. Loved the biscuit texture and the gravy had good flavor. It is really easy for breakfast gravy to go wrong in my opinion and I am glad to report I did not experience that! Overall the service was slow, but the server was nice and I had great company with me at the table so it wasn't an experience ruiner. We took a little weekender trip to Gold Canyon and stopped in for Saturday brunch here. Wow! What a lovely family owned and operated restaurant. All the recipes are from scratch. The cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting and coffee were a hit. We also had the breakfast burrito with carne asada and O'brien's potato's; yum! The biscuits and gravy were delightful. We finished our plates and loved our server, Jen! The coffee kept pouring and we didn't want to leave - it felt like home. read more

Have been coming to your Cafe since you opened, the food is great and so is the service, the only complaint I have is the $2.00 surcharge for a breakfast with eggs. Other restaurants in your area are charging $.50 per egg and some restaurants are not having any surcharge, I'm not going to list those places on this review. My husband & I walked in & asked if we could sit outside - the unhappy waiter told us to go ahead. We sat outside & the waiter did come & take our drink orders - I asked for cream for my coffee & ended up having to go inside & get it myself. The waiter took our order & after about 15 minutes an older lady came outside & remarked she didn't realize we were out there. I asked her for some silverware (thinking our food would come soon). After 10 more minutes of waiting, we decided to leave. I went inside, saw the lady who I asked for silverware, told her it appeared our waiter never placed our order& paid for the coffee. She apologized & also realized she hadn't brought us silverware. We were really disappointed, as we had heard about how good the food is supposed to be. I doubt we will ever try again. On a side note, another couple came out & commented on the waiter (who we all could tell didn't want to be working). read more

We wanted to sit outside, so we had to ask for menus and then sat there for a what seemed to be a long time before my husband went in to tell them we were ready to order.,it took at least 30 minutes to get the food, The service was poor, not very attentive to their customers. I requested ketchup which we never did get and the tea refill came after we were finished eating. The fries were good but the sandwich was mediocre at best. I ordered my Pastrami on Rye and it came on a hoagie roll, with mustard squeezed on top and a few pickle slices. I was very disappointed, hoping that this little cafe would do well.
