I got the classic Italian sub on white bread with all the fixings and it was exactly what I was hoping for. Staff were very friendly.

Three of us came in hungry at 2:30pm. Our friend ordered a veggie sandwich and Don and I split a roast beef sandwich. It's kinda like ordering at Subway, where you get to choose your roll, either white or wheat, toasted or not, and then choose your condiments and veggies. We got a combo with chips and a drink. A really good sandwich!. We then decided to split a scoop of Happy Tracks ice cream. It was a delicious huge scoop and we couldn't finish it. The two gals working were very nice. It's a cute place hidden in the corner of a retail mall. We'll be back!

I went to this place because the place next door was closed. The interior is really cool! When I walked in it was confusing, because ice cream and sandwiches are ordered at 2 different spots insides. I can see a lot of people were confused, created a lot of traffic jam at the entrance. I ordered a chili and cheese hotdog meal with the pasta salad. The cheese was just sliced cheese :/ the chili was good though! I also ordered a 6" Meatball sub on wheat, which was very good. The service was a bit slow on the sandwich side, but the ice cream line was fast. The pasta salad was not worth the extra $1 for it. I'd like to come back and try their ice cream next time!

Since the opening of the Gold Canyon location, I have loved Oldie's! I went with my Yelp Bestie Chelsey H. who is also my cousin as our Nanny loved 50s style diners. Every time we visit we think of her fondly and enjoy the atmosphere of a blast from the past theme. Looks aren't everything, so you may be thinking how is the service and the food? Both locations have exceptionally friendly staff who are happy to offer a sample, answer questions, and serve up one helluva a cone of ice cream. They serve Blue Bell brand ice cream which is one of my personal favorites. This location serves subs and food items, whereas the Gold Canyon does not. Love that they've expanded to Apache Junction, not just for proximity to my house, but for the spacious location! This can easily accommodate multiple parties comfortable for a sock hop feel with the jute box playing those classic tunes. Don't be square, check out Oldie's!

First time at this location! Original location is in Gold Canyon. A friend and I went to check them out about 6:30 on a Saturday night. Actually waited about 5 minutes for service since there was another customer being served. I got a single scoop and my friend got a double! We compared them take a look at the picture! This has to be one of the best deals for under $10 for two ice creams! The only thing I can say is that the atmosphere and ambience is amazing! It reminds me of the old days. I don't normally like hard ice cream, but it was nice to sit and relax in a booth and just hang out. Definitely coming back to this location!

Talk about great value! The wait to get your ice cream was a bit long but gotta give credit to the one guy working in a popular and busy spot! He takes the time to talk to each customer and give them a great experience. You won't forget it! The ice cream was delicious and we got great servings!

This is NOT your ordinary sub!

This is a brand-new place in Apache Junction but locals will recognize that they used to be in Gold Canyon (that place is still there but now serves ice cream only). This new location is tucked way back in a tired old mall that's frankly not very inviting. That is until you get inside Oldie's. Surprise! The decor is legit 1950's with a tasteful touch of authentic background music. I stopped in one hot July afternoon (alongside a fairly decent size crowd of Oldie's devotees and was greeted by Tyler, perhaps the most knowledgeable fast-food employee I've ever met. And genuinely friendly as well. He led me through their entire menu, making everything sound mouthwatering- especially the banana split, served in a real glass dish, which he appears to be the king of the universe at making. (PS - he just might be). I've been around for a while and have a pretty good idea what a good milkshake or other ice cream treat should cost and Oldie's is ridiculous, I mean ridiculous low compared to other custom ice cream shoppes. And according to Tyler, you make the decisions, not a list of 31 or whatever predetermined flavors. So go ahead and get that chocolate/blueberry/pistachio shake if your heart desires, choose from any of their flavors (which you can sample). No worries. But my real quest this venture was to find another local choice for getting my sub sammie fix. For the size of our town we actually have several good independent (non-chain) sub shops. I like some better than others but I don't love any of them, but I'm spoiled - I've had subs at some of the greatest little hole-in-the-walls in America. And as an aside, can anybody tell me why every sub shop in AJ is hidden in the corner of some mall where it is almost impossible to find? During my informal "interview" Tyler he convinced me that they were different. For starters they let you build your own right before your eyes, not hidden behind some 8' high counter or in some back room. He even explained the importance of the way they slice the fresh-baked bun and how they layer the meat in it. And toppings? Forget extra charges on an already stratospherically prices sub like some places, Just like with the ice cream it's YOUR sub so they'll put on it what YOU want. If hungry I've been known to demolish an entire 12" sub from other sub shops for dinner, not so here, 6"down my throat was all I could handle, the other half went in the fridge for lunch the next day. The last thing that makes Odie's a standout is not only are the ice cream treats budget friendly, the subs are ... okay I'll say it ... cheap! Like you go HUH when they ring up your bill. I mention my first contact because he's the one I met when I dropped in and he's the one who convinced me to become a customer. But while I was there I looked around and everyone behind the counter was upbeat and super-friendly. AJ is known for goldmines, including that famous lost one that everyone's looking for. Well I just found a locally owned sandwich and ice cream shop that's a real treasure and once the snowbirds come back this place is going to be a goldmine.

Had to stop by for the grand opening with my Yelp bestie Diele K! We were so excited to have an Oldies location open closer to home. This location is large, open and so inviting!! From the floors up, everything is on point to bring you back to the oldies. They have a table outside for seating and lots of seating inside. The parking lot is shared with other surrounding businesses but is spacious with lots of parking spots. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I have a feeling I will be eating a lot more ice cream due to the new location haha! They serve Blue Bell ice cream as well as subs and salads. I got myself and Diele each 1 scoop of ice cream and a cone which ran my bill up to $8. What a great deal! Love the vibes here. It's perfect for a date night or ice cream stop with the kids.

    The ice cream menu

Most generous portions of ice cream and very great prices!! The subs are great too. I drive out of my way to go here every so often. Great little lunch after a day of hiking in the Sups or a day at Canyon Lake

A quaint little ice cream and sub shoppe on the corner of a strip mall that's easily missed. But you should definitely stop in for a cool treat and/or sub. Decorated in '50s style furnishings including jukebox, it's a cute and clean little place. Hubby and I had ice cream the first visit. Generous scoops and a variety of cones to select from. That's when we noticed they also served sub sandwiches, salad sides etc. So on our second visit we ordered sub combos. Great subs! Hubby had the broccoli soup which was delicious and better than I expected. I had the potato salad which was good as well and what I expected. I've certainly been to other chain sub shops and I think the quality here is better and at a much better price. The one of the owners was there working and obviously very proud of their place and the food they served. Overall, we will continue to support this small business!

Stopped into the new Oldies ice cream and sandwich shop! What a cool atmosphere! We had the meatball sub and the Italian sub! Awesome sandwich and the bread was fresh, not hard and crusty! They serve blue bell ice cream which is a huge bonus!! Great addition to the strip! Will be coming back!

We had our 5 year old granddaughter with us that day. Both my husband and I ordered prime rib sliders with seasoned fries. Fries had a unique taste, a tiny bit spicy. I was surprised by the taste because usually when places say seasoned they usually mean salt and pepper. My granddaughter got the kids burger with fries and orange juice. We also ordered some pretzel bites as an appetizer. About 20 minutes later our appetizer finally arrives, and so did the appetizer of the couple next to us that arrived and ordered about 15 minutes after us. About 20 minutes later our food still had not arrived but the couple next to us had already received their food. Finally our server comes to check on us and noticed we still hadn't gotten our food and went to check on it. About 5-10 minutes later my husband and my food finally showed up.. the couple next to us had already finished by then. They brought out our food but not my granddaughters. Who brings out food for the adults before the kids? So she had to sit another 10 minutes before her food was brought out. She did say they were really good but her fries were too spicy for her so they brought some out with no seasoning. Our prime rib sliders were also very good. The manager came out and apologized to us and comped the kids meal. Only problem now was, I was going to use a coupon code for 25.00 off 50.00. With the kids meal taken off our total was just under 50.00 by about 20 cents. I definitely wasn't prepared to pay 50.00 for our lunch. We'll give them another chance as the place was pretty cool. Try it on a Friday or Saturday night to listen to the live music.

We were greeted with warm smiles, and our server (a lovely lady with pink hair whose name I missed!) was absolute gold. She made my nephew's birthday so special by surprising him with bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers and a brownie. The food was phenomenal. My nephew got the sample plate loaded with brisket, pork, sausage, and more. I went for the double brisket burger--that thing was a giant, flavor-packed beast! My nephew loved the cornbread with real corn and called the homemade baked beans "fire." We also tried all of their homemade signature barbecue sauces, and every single one was delicious. The green chili mac and cheese was a bit too mild and simple for my personal taste, but still totally decent. Overall? Fantastic flavor, unbeatable hospitality, and great atmosphere. If you haven't checked out this new spot yet, go give them some love!

Simple surroundings, but excellent food. This is one of those places, in my opinion. Ordered the Greek salad w/ beef kabob. They even asked how I wanted the meat prepared. I went for rare, and it was rare. Very fresh greens, soft and warm pita bread. Dressing on the side, which I like, because Greek dressing can sometimes be a little acidic. This was not. Smooth, with light acidity. Very tasty. The meat (see picture) was loaded on and delicious. Charred nicely on the outside, rare inside. Presented very well. Baklava for desert. What can I say - I've never really had bad Baklava. Very buttery, honey, pistachios. I'm giving five stars, because I didn't expect this to be so tasty. Expected good. Nothing fancy as far as dining, but very clean. But I don't order the tables and chairs - I order the meal, and that's what I eat. You order at the counter and they serve. After reviewing the menu quickly (about 15 seconds), when I approached the cashier he asked 'Are you ready now?'. I found this pretty insulting as I was looking at the menu briefly with nobody behind me inline. What happened to 'How may I serve you today?' or at least a semi-friendly greeting? I ordered a Torpedo sub and got a water cup as they had a Pepsi machine (I much prefer Coke products) and no fresh-brewed Iced Tea (only Brisk out of the Pepsi machine). The sub came out quickly. I forgot to take a picture but it looked like a bread-only sandwich with a few lettuce strips hanging out. You could not see the meat or cheese without lifting off the bun. I'd say they are quite frugal with the meat, cheese and vegetables. However, the sandwich bread was excellent and the sub had good taste. Overall, the experiences was average to slightly sub-par.
