Found this awesome out of the way diner. It's tucked away off the main road and you really have to know about it otherwise you will miss out. So I'm telling you about it! It is definitely worth the trip finding it. I stumbled across it and wow it blew me away. It is an old fashion diner with the friendliest people and the food was delicious. I googled restaurants in my area and this gem popped up. When I drive over I wasn't expecting much. I knew it had to be good since the parking lot was packed. And believe me you don't drive by here a normal route. You have to know it's back here. I loved the vibe in the place. Nothing too loud playing. People chatting away. A very friendly vibe. The waiter was super attentive and friendly. My brother was visiting from out of state and I just moved back to the area. I ordered the make your own omelette and it came with your choice potatoes and toast. The 3 egg omelette had ham, cheese, onions and peppers. They didn't skimp on any of the ingredients. And very flavorful. So you know they added some extra spices. I had the cheese hash potatoes and an English muffin. And my brother preferred the eggs and bacon and had hash browns. He ordered sourdough bread. He commented to the waiter that he would have liked the bread toasted a bit more but it was ok. The waiter went to take it and my brother said no no you don't have to make me new. This is fine for today. But you got it. They brought him another order of toast just the way he liked it. We both had coffee and when you usually have to get someone's attention for a refill, not here they were coming around with the pot in hand refilling everyone's cup. It was awesome. I'm telling you, you have to find your way here. I will definitely be back to try one of the lunch items. The menu was full of choices. The only downside is they close at 2pm. Wish they were open for dinner as I'm sure they would be packed. So hopefully you stop by for a meal!!! Yum yum read more

Located near the Antique Mall is Hacker's Grill. This location brings back nostalgia as I went as a kid in the 1990s with family. As the years progressed, we tried other local places but it was good to make our way back here. For the most part, I felt like the layout is fairly similar but noticed a decent amount of patio seating which would be nice in winter/spring. It was a pretty busy Saturday with every table taken, but they were bussing one so we were sat pretty quickly. Though the place was filled, the staff worked both efficiently with refilling coffee, getting food out, and just being incredibly personable. Still in awe that we had our food in less than 10 minutes from ordering! Might be the most efficient breakfast spot in the city. And our coffee was consistently replenished with them even asking if we wanted a one to go. What We Ordered: - Coffee: pretty good and love they have French vanilla creamer at the table. - Chicken Fried Steak, Two Eggs, Potatoes & Toast (special priced at $10.99): I went with the special and tried the cheesy hashbrown casserole. It was pretty good, but was a bit rich with the chicken fried steak. The Chicken fried steak was perfectly crispy and delicious. A very solid breakfast platter for only $10.99! - #2 Breakfast Plate (Two pancakes, two eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns): My dad was very pleased and glad they accommodated the crispy bacon request as he prefers that way. No skimping on anything! Definitely worth the trip if you're not living nearby. More folks working here to prepare and serve up these delicious breakfast dishes than places threefold bigger. The deco plastic lights and Drink Coca-Cola sign give this hobbit home just the right amount of atmosphere. read more

Was in town for a wedding and it was my first time here. Was looking for where the locals went and I was so happy I found this place. The pricing on breakfast was very good and I was pleased with the food and the hash brown casserole was delicious. They have a casserole option instead of plain hash browns. We got our food pretty quick and check out was easy too since you can check out at your table with their portable check out device. There is outdoor seating but I choose to sit inside since it was the morning and the middle of December. If I am ever in Apache Junction, I will stop by again. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday post hiking in the Superstition Mountains. Arrived around 11:30am - there was a wait to get a table, but not more than 10 to 15 minutes. The menu covers breakfast and lunch. Base description is that is covers the normal items you would see at breakfast/lunch joint. I went for a Reuben with tater tots. It was pretty good. The break was grilled crispy and there was plenty of corned beef. The tater tots were just that - tater tots. They were crispy and hot. The place was fine. My food was good. What a hidden gent!! My husband and I went hiking in the superstitions and were craving a beer. Burger and fries. So I googled great burger places and Hackers Gill popped up. We decided to give it a try and so glad we did. Got there a little before 1:00pm and was informed by a customer that our timing was great because around noon there is a 24 minute wait. We ordered the deluxe burger with fries and it was absolutely delicious!! Juicy burger with lettuce that wasn't limp and a huge portion of crinkle cut fries! We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the sunshine. Our waiter was pleasant and on point with his service. AND you can get breakfast up till 2pm. Hi Ya'll, The "D&D Yelping Duo Team" visited arguably one of the BEST breakfast grills in AJ! Top is the #6- Waffle, 2 scrambled eggs, bacon and what we call "Hacker Hash browns" aka cheesy hash browns. Bottom is the Combination platter-3 chicken strips, 3 jumbo shrimp, 3 hush puppies and crinkle cut fries, and ranch (yes I'm from the Midwest). The platter normally comes with slaw, I asked if I could substitute for cocktail sauce. Dad had coffee with non dairy half & half. I had a Diet Coke. Go get ya some :) read more

Well we liked this place enough to go back the next day for a hearty breakfast. Seems to be a local favorite haunt with many rv parks in the area- snowbirds galore. No fancy pants stuff here, this is good old American grub, comforting, hot and served amazingly fast by the friendliest most efficient staff we've ever encountered. Their cooks must be ninja because both times food was hot and fast. This well oiled machine staff gave each others backs, making sure everyone is taken care of- they should be proud! No wonder people return- it's like a normal diner appearance, but the food and service are worth the wait since it's not as long as it looks due to their efficiency. Prices very good, and though it's not relevant they stock the softest toilet paper - they cater to older clientele who like old fashioned service and good value, and they absolutely pull it off with aplomb! read more

Friendly greeting, asked if I wanted a Booth or counter, went right up and sat down. Coffee immediately, ordered the country fried steak plate. What a surprise! I was in Apache Junction fit work. I invited some colleagues to breakfast and chose the Hackers Grill based on 4 Stars. It is off the beaten track in a dead end street. Simple and rustic. S soon as I entered I was greeted by the hostess. We were seated and immediately asked for what we wanted to drink. I chose the coffee ("the best in the city"). It was party good. I ordered the make you own omelet (which was more like a scramble) with chorizo, jalapeños, mushrooms, and sausage. It was delicious. It came with cottage cheese (optional side) and English muffin. The eye 3-4 bread options. My colleagues had the corned beef hash and the chicken fried chicken. Portions were good and ample, the service was very good and attentive. There were condiments, jelly packets, coffee creamer and sweetener at each table. I would highly recommend this diner for breakfast or lunch. read more
