My boyfriend and I live in Bay Ridge and are disappointed to know that after trying many diners in the neighborhood, there isn't one that deserves to become our Lazy Sunday breakfast spot. Yesterday, I stumbled upon this place after the Teal Walk (Ovarian Cancer) in prospect park. The breakfast was so dee-lishus that I had to bring my boyfriend in this morning. Great for breakfast, meh for lunch. The service is great, definitely an establishment that makes you feel at home. It's definitely a diner and not a cafe with a huge menu. I love this place! I have never had a bad meal delivered. The sandwiches are always fresh (favorites: Feta burger, Johnny's Special, grilled chicken, grilled cheese and Reuben) and the fries are crispy, never soggy. Love the side of slaw. Windsor Cafe has a leg-up on most diners. Here's why: 1. Really great fries. So crispy! 2. Vegetarian sausage! They do a decent job of cooking it, and I've never had a problem with them bringing me meaty sausage on accident. 3. Red eyes AND black eyes on the menu! No longer do I have to feel like a raging caffeine addict if I want both coffee and espresso. If it's on the menu, they're enabling me to caffeinate without judgment. 4. "The Fez" is a super tasty wrap of veggie burger, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, red pepper, and honey mustard. Delicious. My only problem with this place is that their pancakes aren't light and fluffy. It says right on the name, it's in "Windsor Terrace", do not make the mistake of calling this place as a "Park Slope" restaurant. It's an entirely different Brooklyn neighborhood. But if you live on close by this is one of your within-your-walking-distance standard American/Brooklyn neighborhood diners. I have been coming to this restaurants since the late 90s when it was still called "Trio's Cafe". Nothing fancy or hipster on the menu, standard diner food, but not greasy and the servings are huge yet affordable. The owners/managers and staff are really nice and friendly. I had an interesting experience in this place today. I saw an African American meter maid out front kindly ask a guy not to park his car in the bus stop. His response was to call her a slur of racist profanities that I won't repeat here. I told him to stop and he threatened me. He drove off and then she gave his friend a ticket for not paying the meter when he left his car to come into the cafe. He also cursed at her. Then he came into the cafe and complained about her to the guys working as if he was right. I'm pretty sure that he worked there, but maybe he was just a customer. They agreed with him. I told him that he wasn't, which maybe I shouldn't have done, because the next thing I know he and his buddy are both dancing around in the window like idiots begging me to come out and fight them. I ignore them and keep drinking my coffee until they finally leave. Then the guy at the table next to mine gets up and starts screaming at me for starting shit and threatening me and spitting at me. I could have fought back but I was tired and it didn't seem worth it. I let him get it out and leave. No one did anything to help either. After that guy left, the guys working gave me a lecture on minding my own business. That woman didn't deserve to be treated that way. She didn't even start with the tickets, all she did was ask the guy to move his car and his response was to belittle her based on her race and gender. Throughout history people have minded their own business while various other groups were treated poorly based on the color of their skin and gender. Abusive behavior shouldn't be tolerated and we shouldn't turn a blind eye to people that talk that way. Tolerating it is just as bad as being the one to act that way in the first place. This place is run by racist bigots. Don't give them your money. read more

They are by far my favorite non-brunchy breakfast in the Park Slope area, with my all-time favorite Eggs Benedict. But today I had to jump onto Yelp and give them a 5-star rating because of something above-and-beyond they did for us. My older child wanted heart-shaped pancakes, so when I placed our order I added, "Can you make one pancake in the shape of a heart, please? Thank you." And they did! This is my boyfriend's and I favorite brunch spot in Park Slope. It is close enough so we can walk home or take a stroll in the park. Portions and favors are huge! I didn't get the soup or salad and still wasn't able to finish my meal. My wife got a salad and it was pretty impressive for a salad that comes with your entree. I went here because it was close by and it was pouring outside and couldn't get down to 7th ave. i ordered the multi grain belgian waffle which comes with yogurt, berries and nuts on top. The waitress, who was not friendly, nor did she ever check in on us or refill our coffee, tells me she isn't sure if they have the multi grain batter. She also says they don't have any yogurt and she doesn't know if there are any nuts. That is like my whole order. So out comes a waffle with fruit on top. And she charged full price. Windsor Cafe is a great neighborhood spot. I was visiting the Park Slope neighborhood and stopped in on Sunday afternoon for a late brunch. I was greeted warmly, immediately given water and a menu. This seems like the type of place with a lot of 'regulars', but they gave me the same attention and hospitality. I had the eggs Benedict, which was delicious. The Canadian bacon was thick and flavorful, the eggs were cooked perfectly. The hot chocolate could probably use a bit more sweetness, but it was also good. My only complaint would be the bickering from staff behind the counter - I would rather not listen to that while enjoying my meal. read more

We picked a table and after waiting for 10 minutes I ended up getting up and grabbing some menus for us.
