Thank you to the owners and staff who made our experience there exceptional last night. We were ready to give up finding a place to sit down for a Knicks game because of the large crowds everywhere, but the staff at South Slope Eatery generously offered to bring out extra chairs for us to sit in, then moved us to a table once one opened up. Because of the game, they kept the bar and kitchen open past 9 pm, and they kept up their good service throughout, regularly checking in on us. I've never had a stranger experience at a restaurant than I did here. The woman behind the bar didn't really greet me when I sat down, fine. She asked me about three times if I was sitting there to eat. Yes I am. Isn't this a restaurant? The look of surprise on her face when I said yes, I was there to eat should've told me to leave. But I didn't. I finally was offered a menu and a while later my drink order was taken. After 15 minutes, my drink hadn't even begun to get made and I know because I was sitting at the bar and I was the only person in there. It was low-key the most psychotic restaurant experiences I've had. The takeout on the other hand seemed to be moving without a hitch (the bartender answered the phone a number of times taking takeout orders and helped people who walked in for picking up takeout while I was sitting there waiting ) So I'm thinking that it's a take out only type of situation? read more

This was my go-to brunch spot while visiting NY. Food was fresh, delicious, good portion sizes, & great prices! I especially loved their brunch drink specials- 2 for $10..yes, please! They do have both indoor & outdoor seating. While it did get busy on the weekends, we never had to wait to be seated & the staff were always very attentive. I've walked by a few dozen times and usually held off due to pricing, which to be honest isn't that steep to begin with, but today thought I'd treat myself and Hoooooly hell this food is amazing. The fries are crispy, the buttermilk chicken sandwich is flavorful with just the right hit of spicy to it, and the perfect combo of flavors. I got slope sauce on the side to dip the fries, which strikes me more as a "fry sauce" so I'm really glad I did! And the cabbage compliments the chicken completely. This thing is so big it's almost hard to hold. Also ordered the Cappuccino Freeze, which is everything I wanted in a frozen espresso drink. I don't live far from here but even with that in mind the delivery was quicker than most south slope takeout I've ordered, and piping hot upon arrival. Definitely gained a repeat customer. read more

Watching the World Cup final across the street and they let us bring outside food. We ordered and ran over to pick it up and it was delicious and super affordable, I was shocked and pleased. My favorites are their beyond burger, I usually build my own with american cheese, jalapeños and sweet potato fries on the side. Their nachos are also great, a very big portion and generous toppings. Their breakfast is also great, I've tried their waffle, spinach feta and egg sandwich as well as the guacamole eggs Benedict with home fries. This is my go to restaurant for all things delicious. We've been going here before it's current management and even then it was great. Now with the new owners and family, it's to die for. Quality food, perfect pricing, and great service. You can't really ask for more. I always order breakfast food here because we'll, there omelettes are amazing. My husband will get eggs, but lately he's been on a salad kick. I've ordered wraps and sandwiches here too, but their newest grain bowls are amazing. I ordered the Baja bowl and it blew me away. Tender, juicy shrimp with avocado, sour cream, jalapeño peppers, and a few other ingredients working in harmony to make my belly sing sweet symphony. We got 2 chicken sandwiches (we both wanted one and couldn't settle on something else to share, although when I'm in the mood for a burger, I'll definitely be reordering from here). This once fave place to eat when I am Park Slope has lost me as a customer. The food remains good but not anymore special than many local eateries. What made the difference to me was the exceptional engagement of a server named Cameron. Always gracious, accommodating and a delightfully refreshing sensitivity to my dining preferences. Unfortunately, during my last visit, I learned that Cameron was no longer in their employ. The server I had was not very good, very emotional and I was just another speed bump on his way towards ending his shift for the day. I am hopeful that someone can tell me where Cameron now works so I can frequent his new establishment. No more Park Slope eatery for me!!!! read more

So, we returned to try breakfast and I felt underwhelmed compared to our first lunch visit. First, service was very slow. They were slammed and only had 2 servers in the dining area during peak weekend breakfast/brunch. By the time a server addressed our table, we felt the need to order everything at once. I had corn beef hash with scrambled eggs and home fries. I ask for the hash to be well done, and it was not at all crispy especially under the scrambled eggs. The home fries were just mushy and not appetizing, I barely touched them. We were planning to walk around the area so I ordered a Honey Bunny (strawberry banana) smoothie to go. After a little while it tasted like that pink medicine I sometimes got as a kid. For me, I think I'd pass on breakfast here in the future but would still recommend lunch. read more
