The amount of the food is pretty nice and it's very homestyle home kitchen style. The coffee is dripped coffee with milk so not exactly latte but it's OK.

I love this place. It was less than 5 minutes from my old apartment, so it quickly became my go to breakfast spot. They have a TON of options and everything is super affordable with massive portions. The service is great and really fast too. My go to was the two eggs any style, which came with hash browns, your choice of meat (get the beef sausage), and toast for around $11. The best part is you can substitute your toast for pancakes for no additional cost, and the pancakes they give you are a solid size. It's a really filling breakfast that can probably be shared, I'd honestly expect it to cost closer to $20. Their omelettes are also gigantic and super stuffed, I'd usually eat them for both breakfast and lunch. They have a full hot food bar too that has some great options. You can't go wrong with whatever you try, I've been satisfied with every meal I've had here.

This was our first time eating at this place and we left happy. The food tasted so good and the coffee fresh! The prices are reasonable. Definitely and go to place when in Brooklyn.

We tried Breakhouse out on a whim. We were not disappointed. The food was good, menu options are diverse, and the service was good.

This is everything vegan food should be - creative and satisfying…read more Bold flavors, a thoughtfully curated menu, and ingredients that are allowed to shine. The bowl was packed with flavor and made with some of the best, freshest ingredients. And the mac & cheese? Creamy, delicious, and completely vegan. It lacked absolutely nothing except, you know, the animal products.

Aunts et Uncles: Vegan food that doesn't need a disclaimer…read more Baby, that loaded baked potato?! One of the best things I've eaten at a vegan restaurant. Period. A strong 9.5/10, and I don't hand those out casually. The peanut butter cauliflower was a close second--absolutely delicious, just a little pricey for the portion. The lasagna was a solid 8/10. Flavorful and hefty despite its lighter ingredients. Unless you're skipping appetizers, prepare for leftovers. Fair warning: it's saucy and doesn't travel particularly well. I also noticed an aftertaste I couldn't quite identify, but nothing that ruined the dish. The mac and cheese? A 6/10 for me. The flavor fell flat, though my dinner companions thought it was decent for vegan food. They also loved their burger and the gorgeous steak-style sandwich with chimichurri and avocado. The sandwich looked delicious, but the portion didn't quite justify the price for me. Now, the sorrel cocktail? A 9/10. Easily. What would make it a 10? A bit more alcohol. I couldn't really taste any. It gave mocktail. My girls did enjoy their wine, though! Service was very warm and friendly, although the packed crowd meant extended waits once we placed our orders. The space is beautiful, cozy, and elevated, but cramped in many areas. Between counter ordering and table service, expect people moving around you. Some patrons could use a gentle reminder that their behinds are not a complimentary side dish. The aesthetics are beautiful, the bathroom was cute and clean, and there's a small outdoor patio out front. They even had a DJ bringing block-party energy during our visit! I could easily see myself returning for breakfast, brunch, or a little café workday. What I love most, though, is the community-centered spirit and how the owners' partnership and love story are woven into the space. My final word: I judge vegan food by the same standards as everything else. No participation trophies just because it's plant-based. My ultimate test? Would I order it again, and would I return to the restaurant? Aunts et Uncles didn't need a vegan consolation prize or watered-down standards. Some dishes could use tweaking, and the portions don't always match the prices, but the standouts absolutely hold their own against non-vegan food. I'm already plotting my return. That loaded potato and I have unfinished business.

TL;DR version- Some high highs and some very low lows. Hot Figs was a fun app. By a mile, the soups…read morewere the favorites, so I would recommend the Pepián or Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo. Nice happy hour and a large chocolate drink selection I was at this unique Guatemalan (ish) restaurant a while back with one of my groups. I said "ish" because the menu has dishes from all over, ranging from sandwiches to BBQ ribs to Guatemalan and Mexican soups. It's out there, and even though not everything works that well, it's fun, and if you can't find something you want to order here, you probably shouldn't go out to restaurants. There was also live jazz music that night, which was loud but nice to listen to. Since it was happy hour, a bunch of us got drinks. I went with a maracuya margarita, which was decent; someone else had a jalapeño margarita, someone had a beer, and someone had a mojito. There were a few nice hot sauces on the table, with the red one reminding me of salsa macha as it had a smoky kick and a spicier green sauce reminiscent of ají verde. They gave us some complimentary blue corn chips and a very mild black bean dip, which was tasty enough and hard to complain about, as it was free. From the appetizers, we got the Hot Figs for $15.95, consisting of honey goat cheese, corn tortilla chips, and plum + pumpkin seeds. This was a unique and fun blend and reminded me more of something you would find in a wine bar. The mix of sweet and salty, with a bit of crunch from the seeds, was nice. This was good, and I would recommend it for a table rather than for a solo diner. There was also The Zingy Salad for $21.95, featuring zucchini spirals, yuzu, tomato, onion, cilantro, pumpkin seeds, and a jalapeño infusion. $18.95. The salad was fine with a bit of crunch and a mild spiciness. It was fine, though a bit wet, for lack of a better word. The best dishes of the night were the soups, which each had its own distinct flavor profile. My sight presence went to the Pepián for $21.95, consisting of chicken, pumpkin/sesame seeds, green tomatillo, cinnamon, cumin, black pepper, carrots, chili coban/pasta/guaque, and potato + rice. There was plenty of tender chicken inside, with the soup having a nice roasted flavor with some spice and a bit of sourness. The potatoes and rice on the bottom added more sustenance to this dish. Almost equally delicious was the Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo for a dollar more with shredded chicken, tomato, black pepper, garlic, onions, peas, chickpeas, corn, achiote, chipotle, Monterey jack cheese, and crunchy blue corn tortilla chips. By comparison, this was a bit heartier, with the melted cheese and shredded tortilla chips inside, similar to soups found in Mexican cuisine. While I also liked the mix of veggies a bit more in this one, as it added a bit more texture, I still slightly preferred the flavor of the other soup, as I usually prefer a bit more spice. The rest of the food was fine. The TPC sandwich for $19.95 with chicken, peanut butter, coconut cream, ginger, cilantro, pickled carrots, and lime was fine. For the number of ingredients, I found it a bit sweet, likely from the cream and the peanut butter mix. The bread was nice, but it also fell apart. It came with a nice side salad with a good vinaigrette. The most expensive at $24.95 were the Slow Cooked BBQ Ribs, consisting of baby back ribs with rice and beans. The ribs were almost a bit too tender as they lacked any bite, which was nice, but the sauce was a bit too generic tasting, reminding me of Sweet Baby Ray's or something similar. The rice and beans were standard. This was also OK. Next came some dessert. There was first the $12.95 Rosemary Churros served with dulce de leche & chocolate dips. While I'm not sure if it worked, the rosemary did add a unique smell and a bit of flavor, and at least it wasn't generic. The churros themselves were hot, and the sauces were standard, with my preference being the dulce de leche. I also ordered a Champurrado for $7.95, which was fine. It wasn't as thick as I expected, though perhaps the style is a bit different than the champurrados I rarely buy from Mexican street carts. The chocolate flavor was very nice, though, and I like that it wasn't too sweet. Another person got a $4 Alfajor, which I got a bite of, which was standard. This place is a bit hard to rate. The two soups were wonderful, I liked the appetizers, and I found a couple of the other dishes just OK. Overall, it was a good meal, but I'm not craving to go back. This would be the perfect 3.5, but I'll round up as that doesn't exist.

The setup is a little different from a full-service restaurant. You order at the counter, let the staff know if you're dining in or getting your order to go. If dining in, then find a table and wait for your name to be called. If you're seated farther away, they'll usually bring your food to you. For drinks, it's best to stay near the baristas towards the front of the store since those are typically called out separately. I ordered the Madeline omelette without the jalapeños. It was good overall but it could have used a little more salt. I also tried the matcha latte (which tasted a bit too milky) and I had to add extra sweetener, so I'd probably try a different drink next time. The pastries, especially the apple strudel and Boston cream donut, were both really good. Highly recommend the apple strudel.
