On this trip, we ordered the 3 Little Piggies pulled pork sliders as an appetizer. These are so good and filling that they could even pass as an entree. My entree was the Crispy Chicken Spinach Salad with green apple slices & pecans. Very good!! And of course, the highlight of the meal was the Whiskey Cake dessert with fresh whipped cream. It's so delicious that it's hard to not lick the plate clean!! They specialize in sourcing their food locally and have a very casual laid back atmosphere. Great craft food and unique flavors. The restaurant is very unique with an urban industrial style. We have tried just about everything on the menu and they haven't disappointed. The food is locally sourced by each restaurant which gives each experience and menu a little different touch and flavor. Pricing is where you would expect about $25 a person $35 a person for more robust entrees. The whisky cake is also good. We don't get it often but it is good in the restaurant, to go it is not the same. The service is always top notch and they have plenty of staff even if it is packed wall to wall. If you don't want to wait sitting at the bar is a great experience and the bar tenders will usually stoke up a conversation and even let you try a few things. The food was pretty good and the server was helpful when it came to ordering, we got the chicken and waffles and it was so good but so rich! I would be shocked if anyone was able to finish it in one sitting. The only thing about the experience I didn't love was the whiskey cake. It was dry and just not really a flavor profile I've tasted with other whiskey cakes. It ended up right in the trash and I wouldn't order it again unfortunately. read more

There aren't enough superlatives to express my amazement of and gratitude for Richard, and his service. Courteousness & professionalism? In spades. Food recommendations? Check. Usually not a fan or restaurants in shopping strips, but wow, this place makes me a believer. Everyone is a so nice here, even the hostess are kind (i find that most host stations are usually staffed by not the best employees). We sat outside on 7/13/19, section on the side of the front door, waiter had a big beard...you just need to know he is outstanding!! Service was friendly, informative and quick! Food was oh so good and fresh, and even healthy with flavor. We had their deviled eggs and that kick was perfect. The pomegranate on a salad! Wow, im going to do that at home! The staff, ambiance, food and drinks where amazing. We ordered several MEGA MIMOSA and they were MEGA! Delicious hand squeezed juices! I was allowed to order "Snacks" in advance and they did not disappoint. I normally need jam for my biscuits, but not these JALAPEÑO-CHEDDAR BISCUITS. They were fluffy and melted in your mouth. We enjoyed the FLASH-FRIED BRUSSELS SPROUTS and the DEVILED EGGS. The special sweet, soft, COLOSSAL CINNAMON ROLL made me want to order one to go, SO GOOD! We also had the CHICKEN MEATBALLS, let me say they were yummy to my tummy! Each person ordered a variety of entrees and everyone proclaimed how great their dishes were. I had the ROTISSERIE FARM BIRD and as I am typing this I almost want to drive the hour+ from my home to order it again! The chicken was cooked to perfection. The bird was flavorful and juicy. Food beyond scrumptious!!! First time here and loooooved it. First things first, get your reservations! We called in at 6.30 and managed to get a table at 8.30. We ordered the Brussels sprouts appetizer and were blown by the taste. We also ordered the duck wings and the local artisan board and they were just ok. We had a terrible experience and service at Sixty Vines so we ended up walking over to Whiskey Cake and omg was that the best decision ever. It was a busy Saturday night and it was a group of us for my birthday dinner. We didn't have reservations and they were packed. But everyone was so accommodating. I have been here many times in the past and I swear I thought I wrote a review for them already but apparently not. I went here for a friends reunion dinner on a Friday night. The ambiance is quite nice and very homey feeling. We had reservations at 5:30pm and were sat promptly. We shared a few different appetizers among the group. Candied Bacon $12.00, Fried Green Tomatoes $9.00 (I believe there were 4 or 5 per order), Deviled Eggs $8.50 (5pcs), Chili BBQ Glazed Duck Wings $13.00 (I believe there were 3 or 4 per order). The Candied Bacon was okay, thought it should be crispier for better texture. The Fried Green Tomatoes were good but generic, the sauce it came with was really good. The deviled eggs were good as well and had crispy bacon on top. I enjoyed the overall taste of the Duck wings but not a lot of meat on them and not many per order, not sure these are worth the price. For my entrée I got the Delmonico Ribeye special $39.00, cooked medium rare and came with fries. I also got a side of Mac n Cheese $7.50. The steak was solid, cooked correctly and tasty. The fries were good but generic, I saved the sauce from the Fried Green Tomatoes for them. The mac n cheese was meh, too soupy and no actual texture from the breadcrumb topping. I tried a few different cocktails, WC Old Fashioned $7.00 (HH pricing), American Pie $12.00, Little Rye Lies $12.00 and the Smoked Old Fashion $16.00. The smoked old fashion was my favorite. Our server Richard did a fantastic job all night for our large group. He was very helpful, knowledgeable and gave some great recommendations on food and drinks. Food continues to be top tier. Came for brunch and was not disappointed. I still can't say I've had anything bad here, only in varying degrees of greatness. Flights of mimosas was a huge hit. Pear and pineapple were the favorites but totally worth trying a bunch. Coffee comes in a French press which is a little fancy for me, but I guess it's never old coffee that way so it tracks. Egg Benedict seems to have Tabasco in it which i was able to overlook, but was otherwise well prepared and tasty. The country breakfast has crazy thick and chewy bacon and there was plenty of it. The grits and biscuits were fantastic, i couldn't believe how well these simple items had been prepared. Chicken and waffles looked amazing though their owners guarded them jealously. I can only imagine they were covetous. Overall it was another excellent experience. I feel this is a place you can safely recommend to anyone or bring anyone to. This place? Incredible. I ordered Whiskey Cake for pick-up for my birthday. I had the Chicken and Waffles (which are at the higher end in terms of how much Chicken and Waffles can cost), but it came in such a huge serving size, probably the biggest serving size out of any dish I've seen at Whiskey Cake. I also ordered a Whiskey Cake. The portions were so good and the Whiskey Cake was so delicious (the Chicken and Waffles were alright, I mostly liked them due to their huge portion size), that I decided to go BACK FOR DINNER! So this time, I got to see the interior of the restaurant. It is very classy and VERY HARD to get seating here on a Thursday evening. In the end, I was able to get seating for 2 (via OpenDoor) but it was not possible to get seating for 5 when I called in. When you're seated, if you tell them you've never been before, they will give you a schpeal on how they are a true scratch kitchen and how they source everything locally or make it themselves. (that's nice) We then ordered the Garlic Ribeye with a side of potato and broccoli casserole, and the pork brisket with a side of adult mac and cheese. The pork brisket doesn't normally come with the mac and cheese but we didn't want the grits that it normally comes with. The sides were so good, probably better than the meals themselves. The ribeye was juicy and savory, but it was also kind of pricey. I would have almost rather eaten the chicken and waffles again for half the price and twice the quantity of food. The pork brisket was also very savory - maybe more so than the ribeye - but was not as big. And I thought I wouldn't like the casserole because I'm not really a veggies kind of person, but it was actually my favorite part of the whole meal. We told the waiter it was my birthday and he gave us a complementary whiskey cake. This restaurant portion was HUGE and he even gave us complementary ice cream which was so delicious. Why I love Whiskey Cake? Well, some of their portion sizes are incredible, and their sides are also some of the best I've tasted. They's also got a nice interior aesthetic. What could be better? Prices, as always. It would also be nice if everyone and their mother wasn't also trying to eat there, but maybe that speaks to their quality. read more

The food was good for the price. I wanted the fried green tomatoes to have a little more seasoning but it was still decent. My salad was delicious. I thought it would be just ok but it shock me it was very fulfilling and although the chicken isn't visible it's a lot on the plate tucked under the greens. I came here to celebrate my birthday and I had a blast! My girlfriend and I were seated quickly thanks to a reservation that she made. Our waiter was very friendly and came to check on us multiple times to ask if we needed anything else or if we wanted a refill on our kettle chips. I love the interior design and the dim lighting that they used also. The drinks here are fantastic. I especially liked the old fashioned and the jam session here and would come again even just for some drinks. The kettle chips with dips and spreads was surprisingly delicious. The kettle chips were crispy and well salted, and actually not oily at all. I liked the spreads except for the white one which I personally didn't like because of the sour cream taste. We also ordered the wagyu corn dogs but I wasn't a huge fan of these. The taste itself was okay but the batter close to the inside was undercooked and a little runny. The whiskey cake was incredible and worth every penny. The cake was moist and just the right level of sweetness, and the glaze with pecans on top complimented the cake well. Get the whipped cream on the side like we did so you can control the amount that you want. This place is fully deserving of five stars. First, the overall setting and ambience of Whiskey Cake is appealing. Although busy, the atmosphere is not frenetic nor too loud. The interior is also aesthetically tasteful. Second, and most important, is the quality of the food. I ordered the OMG 2.0 burger with kettle chips. Professionally stacked on a challah bun, the succulent beef patty combined with crispy fried onions, mushrooms, grain mustard and (plenty) of delicious cheese resulted in a heavenly combustion of flavor. The kettle chips truly epitomize what every potato chip should be, yet what none live up to. I've never tasted anything comparable. I would definitely recommend them before the fries. My cousin and I topped off our meal with a piece of their famous cake. I normally do not care for cake or anything exceptionally sweet, but the whiskey cake is a pleasant exception to those idiosyncrasies of mine and an apt completion to the whole experience.
