Been here multiple times and typically order Pad See Ew, Crab Fried Rice, Zaab Wings, and papaya salad! These four are delicious every time. The crab fried rice is my favorite by far here, as the crab flavor isn't overpowering but instead elevates the rice. The Zaab Wings are super crunchy but almost just standard wings. So just saying - reserve in advance :) they won't send you home but just saying so you don't need to search for a pre boba spot to hang out before dinner because their drinks SLAPS. The staffs were very friendly. At the time I was arrived the restaurant was very busy so I got the seat in the second floors which I was really surprised. I did not know that it had two floors from the outside. It was really spacious on the second floor which to be honest I love it even more than the main floor because it was calmer and more relaxing. I ordered Tom Yum noodle, I was delicious. However I felt like it is a bit Americanized but it is still good. The portion was huge. First time trying this place- it's been on my list for a while. We went for lunch and ordered the cho muang, som tum, pad thai boran, and basil fried rice. Cho muang- very light, slightly sweet and salty, chewy on the outside, crumbly on the inside. It was a great starter to the meal and very aesthetically appealing. Com tum- aka papaya salad. It was fulllll of flavor and crisp. It's very clear that it's made to order and full of fresh ingredients. The pork rinds add a different flavor and texture and really rounded out the salad. They ask you if you want medium or spicy- this is real Thai spice, so keep that in mind with your choice :) (we went with spicy and were ok but we also love spicy food) Basil fried rice- also so full of flavor but not in an overwhelming way. Some places blast this dish with soy sauce but this was definitely done with more sophistication. The basil in the rice is fresh and young which gave it an extra flair. Pad thai boran- probably my favorite thing of the meal. There are 2 prawns on top with a crispy shell. Don't just peel it... taste the shell- trust me you'll thank me. The pad thai itself is wrapped in egg. The noodles are perfectly cooked, not too raw/dry like some other places I've been to, and not too sweet (again like some other places). It has some of most aesthetic decor and architecture of a modern asian restaurant with the cutest patio outdoor steaming in addition to the indoor seating. The pancake was so small and unfilling with the strangest thing: RAW bean sprouts. The fried chicken was once again small portion but overly fried and salty. Honest review for "When in Bangkok" Let's start with the good, inside the restaurant is really cute and geared for a date night vibe, the staff were super friendly and a joy to share the space with. My reservation was for an hour later but they were nice enough to seat me early at a table. The area was very roomie and I didn't feel to close to anyone. I started off with their Instagram picture worthy BKK Platter. The star of the show on that platter was definitely the Cho Muang or Thai flower dumpling with pork filling and vibrant purple color, the crab spring rolls had a great crisp but didn't provide the savory taste necessary to be memorable. Another side I was told I had to try was the Crab fried rice.....it had a mound of blue crab over the top of it but the crab was lacking any real flavor and the rice was a little over cooked. My main dish was the winter special Lamb Massamun, braised lamb shank in coconut massamun curry, potatoes, onions, peanuts and fried shallots with white rice on the side. The meat was tender and flavorful but the coconut curry made it over the top sweet and hard to finish. I finished very little of the meal and decided to box it up and hand it to a homeless guy on my way to the hotel but before I gave him the food I did ask if he had any food allergies lol. All and all, the food photographs well but the taste did not resonate with me. I think if that was my only option for Thai in the area it would be just fine but I would not go out of my way to make a reservation there. If you are in the Manhattan area I would say go to Soothr located on 204 East 13th street if you are looking for phenomenal Thai, but if you are in Flushing, Queens this will scratch your itch. read more

One of my favorite Thai spots for dine-in AND take-out in Flushing. We order delivery at least once a week for lunch. My go-to's are Pad Kee Mao and Basil Fried Rice but my friends love their Kra-Prow and Pad See Ew. Pad Kee Mao because they always include a fresh string of peppercorn in the bowl (see pictured) - feels authentic, and have an level of spice that keeps me coming back - despite my intolerance to it. Basil Fried Rice for the freshness of the seasonings. Dine-in is a different story. Here I tend to gravitate towards foods I imagine wouldn't travel as well - particularly the fried dishes. Zabb wings (I love spicy/sourness), curry puffs and Soft shell crab karee are musts. Be mindful the curry puff is a single unit cut in half and the Tamarind wings arrive in pairs - we should have clarified before ordering. Tom Yum is a solid for the cooler months. Wow what a great meal my hubby and I enjoyed here. We ordered a Thai iced tea, the tom yum mussels, khao soi, and lamb massamun. The tom yum mussels were soooo good. There's 6 in one order which is great for 2-3 people to share. Very flavorful and tastes exactly as it's described. Cheese is a nice touch. Lamb massaman - solid dish but needed more massaman curry. It came with very little. Usually I am not shy to ask for more but when I had asked there not be any peanuts added to the top of the curry, they told me it couldn't be accommodated. I found this to be odd because if it's not in the sauce and only used as a garnish it could definitely be left off as per my request - I just don't care for peanuts like that. Otherwise the flavors here were really good. Khao soi- the real star of the entire meal. This was so flavorful. It was a 10/10. Everything about this was perfect - portion, flavor, protein - everything!! Please order this if you are unsure of what to order. 4 stars is honestly given for the lamb massaman curry dish. But this place offers a wide variety of dishes on their menu and they also serve alcohol which looked good from what I saw. read more
