The restaurant is beautifully decorated 2-story. Overall food is good. I like Tom yum soup most, not too spicy or sour, but it really warms you up in the cold winter. Cocktails are interesting and pretty with price range $12-15. Service is good and fast, even though it gets very busy for dinner. Seafood pancake was a big disappointment. It was too soft to pick up a complete piece. Not sure if the inside was not cooked through or Thai pancake is supposedly like that. read more

Very tasty dishes. This restaurant has a great selection of flavorful fish and vegetable dishes. The curries are what you'd find in other Thai restaurants so didn't try them. The lemongrass sea bass was delicious with a moderately sweet sauce. The morning glory was cooked well and a good amount of spice. The pad kaprow also had a good intensity of heat. We were one of the first diners on a Sunday evening. Service was attentive and food came out quickly. I took a star off because while the food was delicious and service good, the price was a few dollars too high given the decor. It was cozy and made an attempt to be contemporary but the space could be better decorated to earn the price point. I did appreciate the silverware and dishes. I would come back here again though because of the flavor. read more

My fave Thai spot in all of Queens! Probably the best place ever if you're craving something savory. They have one of the best services and the staff are super friendly. I also love how they change their decor based on season and it's just such a cozy spot. When they first opened, my friend recommended this place to me. Being that it was most of our first times, we ordered probably enough for 10 people. Some staples to try: - Tom Yum Soup (it comes in the traditional Thai pot) - Crab fried rice - soft shell crab in curry/egg sauce? (Forgot the exact name) - chive dumplings (very chewy type but more mochi consistency) - Thai ice tea with oat milk ! Highly recommend! I came here a few more times and with my family as well. They all loved it! read more

My wife and I had a wonderful lunch at When in Bangkok. We started with the curry puff to share it's was crispy and full of flavor. For mains, I had the braised pork leg, which was tender, slightly sweet, and super delicious while my wife enjoyed the lamb chop panang, the curry soup had just the right amount of spice but the lamb chops were a bit on the small side . The drinks were a elegant shade of purple we had the butterfly pea jasmine soda which was refreshing and floral, and the rose lemonade that was perfectly balanced. We ended on a sweet note with the churros and pandan sauce, it was so good we got one to go for a late night snack. Overall, a delicious and memorable experience. read more

Good but pricey! I thought the place wouldn't seat our party of 10+ but they also offer spacious upstairs seating. The food presentation was beautiful and vibrant. There was a great amount of dishes catered to be shared or eaten with rice rather than eat on its own. My favorite was the Tom Yum Soup, although the portion was small. I also enjoyed the unique flavor of the Pineapple Curry Duck. I don't see myself coming here much given the price, but a fantastic authentic Thai option in the area! read more

The pictures and reviews do not lie when everyone says the decor is immaculate. It has some of most aesthetic decor and architecture of a modern asian restaurant with the cutest patio outdoor steaming in addition to the indoor seating. However, sadly to say this was to compensate for the not so good food. The food was all pricey and not in a worth it kind of way. The pancake was so small and unfilling with the strangest thing: RAW bean sprouts. The fried chicken was once again small portion but overly fried and salty. The soup was underwhelming flavor with only small shredded beef and fish balls. It seemed like a noodle soup I can make at home even better (which compared to everything was the best dish here). And the Thai tea was strange tasting as well. Definitely go for the gram pics but not for the food read more

This was my favorite place until tonight. While eating my papaya salad, I noticed something was moving. Upon closer inspection, I saw insect larvae attached to the pork rinds. Immediately, both of us lost our appetite. I asked for the check. They simply removed that dish from my bill. What would you do in this situation? I could tell you that if I were the owner or manager of the restaurant, I would comp the entire meal. read more

I have nothing to critique about this place everything was perfection. The host and waiters were fast and attentive (though I did have reservations). The ambient here is great for small groups or maybe even a date night. The food IS SO GOOD. I know you can get Thai food just about anywhere, but they had such good plating and pairing of ingredient. I live their crab fried rice and soft-shell crab karee. I also love their twist on Thai tea, I feel like I haven't seen much creations with it besides the usual milky concoction, but definitely try the Lychee Thai tea! You'll definitely see me dine here again! read more

Great experience here at WIB. Came for lunch and didn't have to wait. Inside was very clean and pretty. Staff was kind and they had a pretty wide selection of food/drinks. Ordered the lunch special Kra Pow. Was absolutely delicious. Was a sweet pork dish with a fried egg, rice, and a few veggies. Would 100% suggest anyone to stop by here and I'd definitely come back to try more items! read more

Came here for a weekday lunch and was seated immediately. I got the vegetable/tofu pad thai as part of the lunch special. I requested that they make it a bit spicy. Food came out in a timely manner and was delicious. Price was reasonable for the amount of food. Interior is very clean and cute. I think it would make for a nice date spot. Servers were kind and attentive. They have one bathroom, which was clean as well. I would definitely come back here! read more

One of the things that I miss the most about moving away from my beloved Woodside is having a Thai community oasis in my neck of the woods. Northeastern Queens surprisingly has a great selection of Thai restaurants that are almost on par with those in Woodside. When in Bangkok is such a nice addition to the area and definitely caters more to the residents in the area, mainly the younger Asian crowd. I've been here a couple of times, both with friends and by myself and during both busier and calmer hours, and I admire how consistent they are with service and food quality. On my last visit, I got to try a wider range of their selection with their Restaurant Week menu and I finally got to see their full potential with their standouts vs the other times when I felt like the food was good, but somehow fell a little short. I just hadn't got to experience just how great they could be. I've tried several of their noodle dishes and as basic and cliché as this sounds, nothing else does it for me like their Pad Thai. I've had their Pad See Ew, and Pad Kee Mao, and I felt like they were oilier and overall heavier than their Pad Thai. They do their Pad Thai pretty well and this is usually my go-to delivery order, though the chicken can either be a hit or miss. For anyone feeling adventurous and wants something different for a change, I highly, HIGHLY suggest their signature Yum Pu Ma--all the good stuff in one dish: spicy green mango salad, marinated raw blue crabs, red onion, tomato, cashews, and celery. It may feel weird eating raw crabs at first if you're not used to it, but I guarantee that all the rich flavors will make you forget that you're even eating a raw crab in the first place. The Lamb Massaman is also an absolute must, IMO--flavorful, tender, and large-portioned. This is my favorite to order in a group setting! Definitely a top local Thai spot but I don't think I would go out of my way to come here, especially with the awful parking nearby. read more

Honest review for "When in Bangkok" Let's start with the good, inside the restaurant is really cute and geared for a date night vibe, the staff were super friendly and a joy to share the space with. My reservation was for an hour later but they were nice enough to seat me early at a table. The area was very roomie and I didn't feel to close to anyone. I started off with their Instagram picture worthy BKK Platter. The star of the show on that platter was definitely the Cho Muang or Thai flower dumpling with pork filling and vibrant purple color, the crab spring rolls had a great crisp but didn't provide the savory taste necessary to be memorable. Another side I was told I had to try was the Crab fried rice.....it had a mound of blue crab over the top of it but the crab was lacking any real flavor and the rice was a little over cooked. My main dish was the winter special Lamb Massamun, braised lamb shank in coconut massamun curry, potatoes, onions, peanuts and fried shallots with white rice on the side. The meat was tender and flavorful but the coconut curry made it over the top sweet and hard to finish. I finished very little of the meal and decided to box it up and hand it to a homeless guy on my way to the hotel but before I gave him the food I did ask if he had any food allergies lol. All and all, the food photographs well but the taste did not resonate with me. I think if that was my only option for Thai in the area it would be just fine but I would not go out of my way to make a reservation there. If you are in the Manhattan area I would say go to Soothr located on 204 East 13th street if you are looking for phenomenal Thai, but if you are in Flushing, Queens this will scratch your itch. read more

When in Bangkok is a cute, aesthetic place and my go-to Thai spot whenever I am in Flushing. I have been here a few times for various occasions. They offer lunch specials and Happy Hour from Monday to Friday. The food is authentic and delicious. Their crab fried rice and Tom Yum soup are my favorites. They include a generous amount of crab meat in chunks! The fried rice is flavorful, especially with the sauce that comes paired with it. Their cocktail menu is unique, thoughtfully crafted with a blend of different flavors. The service is amazing. They also have an outdoor patio and a space for large parties and events upstairs. read more

Decided to try dishes I have never seen at other Thai restaurants before since the restaurant prides itself with specialty dishes. They were also observing a Queens Restaurant week which had a separate menu. The appetizer sampler with three different apps on one plate was definitely the highlight. The pork bone soup had less soup than the actual ribs and the ribs were not tender to eat. We were intrigued by the crab mango salad but the raw crab marinade was a lot saltier than what I am used to. The lemongrass fried fish was good but I didn't get much of the lemongrass flavor as there were small shreds of lemongrass. My expectations may have been too high or perhaps I should have ordered the more common items. When In Bangkok was mediocre at best. The tent cards on the tables asking for reviews in exchange for Thai iced tea is tacky and makes the abundance of these reviews questionable. read more

Wow! The food tastes spectacular! We have never dined here before just delivery. I can tell the chef takes great care of the food to the attentiveness and to the packaging, quality is consistent. Never an overcooked shrimp and some dishes seemed authentic. I can only imagine how fancy this restaurant is. After seeing the pictures on yelp I can attest this is a really beautiful restaurant. Food doesn't lie. Thai Iced tea is excellent! I have never seen cha sui and fish ball served in tom yum soup. Soup is very flavorful so were the toppings but the cha sui and fish ball weren't necessary. I feel those ingredients is for chinese soup. It just ruins it for me (sorry!). Big pieces of cha sui and shrimp. Usually restaurants like to skimp and give you the smallest piece possible and charge you extra. This place gives you what you pay for. Expensive for delivery but 100 times better than Boonchu on Roosevelt Ave, Flushing. No comparison. Just too bad I don't live close enough. If we are ever in the area, me and my partner will definitely dine in. Cheers to the Chef. read more

came here again few days ago after going here months ago. I usually go siam thai for thai food. this time figured bring my friends try something diff. they got tired of siam thai. they all felt the food is better than siam. i feel some were better some not as good. overall the food is on par with siam thai. good n tasty. their cocktails were super sweet. siam thai def has better cocktails. there are 2 floors here. atmosphere is not bad. cozy, clean n modern. the service was ok. it was lil busy so service lil slow is reasonable. waitresses were pretty nice i guess. i recommend this thai spot to anyone that likes thai food or want to try a good thai spot or want good food. its also a nice date night spot. if i had gf i would bring her here often. i feel most girls will like this spot. read more

I went with the family during lunch hours so it was nice and quiet. Cute decor, attentive staff and great food! We loved the tom yum soup (loved the spice), pad see ew and the pinapple curry duck was so crispy yet tender! I wouldn't reccommend the Zab wings as it was too salty and too much lime seasoning was used. The tod mun was really good too. We didn't get to try any deserts but the next time I go, I'll definitely try them. read more

One of my favorite Thai spots for dine-in AND take-out in Flushing. We order delivery at least once a week for lunch. My go-to's are Pad Kee Mao and Basil Fried Rice but my friends love their Kra-Prow and Pad See Ew. Pad Kee Mao because they always include a fresh string of peppercorn in the bowl (see pictured) - feels authentic, and have an level of spice that keeps me coming back - despite my intolerance to it. Basil Fried Rice for the freshness of the seasonings. Dine-in is a different story. Here I tend to gravitate towards foods I imagine wouldn't travel as well - particularly the fried dishes. Zabb wings (I love spicy/sourness), curry puffs and Soft shell crab karee are musts. Be mindful the curry puff is a single unit cut in half and the Tamarind wings arrive in pairs - we should have clarified before ordering. Tom Yum is a solid for the cooler months. I'm not really a fan of the Thai herb ribs - while the sauce is delicious the ribs themselves taste...boiled. The place is clean, workers are efficient and street parking plentiful. read more

A group of us decided to come here for lunch on a Saturday and the place is super cute! It has such a nice homey vibe - great for bigger groups or even for a cute couples date! We decided to get a variety of items and dessert to share. The service was great - the staff was super attentive and friendly. -Beef Pad See Ew: Solid dish; the flavors were A+ and the beef was not too try and actually very tender so it went really well together -Crispy lime wings: Definitely super crispy and flavorful (mildly a little too salty but nothing too bad) good appetizer for everyone to share. -Thai Tea sizzling roti: Honestly the star of the show; yes it is dessert but it was so delicious you have to get it while you are there. The flavors and the ice cream just balance out the roti so well. Highly recommend finishing off your dish with this dessert item Overall would recommend coming here for lunch or dinner! read more

Check out their delicious winter restaurant week lunch specials for $30! They also have dinner specials too. Their portions are plentiful and flavor is rich and full of spice. The atmosphere is cozy and clean. I ordered a Thai iced tea which was just the right sweetness. I had the summer rolls with branzino as my appetizer which was so tasty. For my entree I had the Goong Kra Tiam which was a shrimp garlic fried rice with flying fish roe. Loved every bite! My family also tried a few different items on the menu which they enjoyed! Watch out for the Thai Herbs Ribs if you don't like spicy food as they don't lie about the spice. When In Bangkok is a well lit and atmospheric dining experience. The ground level was lively and festive when we arrived, but we dined upstairs where it was a bit more quiet, but still fantastic. The tables are spaced very well so you can feel the ambience but still felt like our party could have private conversations without interruption. The food is great and came out quick. Of the things we ordered, our favorites were the Soft Shell Crab Karee and Pad Thai Bo Ran. Soft Shell Crab was nice and crispy. The curry was good over rice and the side of rice was a decent portion size. Pad Thai was sweeter than we were used to, but it was still great. read more

Wow what a great meal my hubby and I enjoyed here. We ordered a Thai iced tea, the tom yum mussels, khao soi, and lamb massamun. The tom yum mussels were soooo good. There's 6 in one order which is great for 2-3 people to share. Very flavorful and tastes exactly as it's described. Cheese is a nice touch. Lamb massaman - solid dish but needed more massaman curry. It came with very little. Usually I am not shy to ask for more but when I had asked there not be any peanuts added to the top of the curry, they told me it couldn't be accommodated. I found this to be odd because if it's not in the sauce and only used as a garnish it could definitely be left off as per my request - I just don't care for peanuts like that. Otherwise the flavors here were really good. Khao soi- the real star of the entire meal. This was so flavorful. It was a 10/10. Everything about this was perfect - portion, flavor, protein - everything!! Please order this if you are unsure of what to order. 4 stars is honestly given for the lamb massaman curry dish. But this place offers a wide variety of dishes on their menu and they also serve alcohol which looked good from what I saw. read more

We order a crab fried rice and is just an ordinary cantonese style crab fried rice. Nothing special of the taste of Bangkok. We also order the loaded moh fai is a tom yum soup base come with 2 jumbo shrimp, snow crab leg, instant noodle. The seafood are obviously not fresh especially the snow crab leg can taste is been over freeze. The tom yum is also just tom yum nothing to be wowed. Will i go back and try other options? Was looking to continue my quest for the best Thai lunch offering and was skeptical of this place but I was very much proven wrong. I was initially skeptical as there aren't a TON of offerings and I was a bit disappointed by the appetizer options. Ultimately chose the pad kee mao with chicken and the spring rolls. Also ordered the chive rice cake, as that is essentially what I judge any Thai restaurant on. The spring rolls-divine. They were perfectly crispy and a substantial size. While I was initially sad this was the only appealing app, I was very pleasantly surprised. Tried the chive cake next, which was also so well done. The outside a nice crispiness with the inside being super "mushy" (in a good way as these should be). Top 5 versions of this I've had. Finally, the noodle dish. Shockingly delicious. I think I handle spice fairly well and was really taken aback by how spicy this was, which was a really nice surprise. Great portion size and the noodles were really nice. Would absolutely get again. I picked up takeout from here and sort of wished I had eaten in. The vibe is super cool. Music was great, seating was hip, and the decor was very modern. Will absolutely be ordering/eating here again. My only suggestion would be that they expand their appetizer offerings for the lunch special. read more

Came here for birthday dinner with family and really enjoyed my time here and the food! Got the crab with rice which was a bit heavy but still very good. My sister got the Kao soy which was also really good!! I highly recommend getting the sampler which lets you try 3 of the appetizers which include the fried shrimp, the butterfly pea dumplings, and crispy chive cakes - all 3 were delicious. The food is really good but it's def on the pricey side and probably can find equally good food elsewhere but definitely I feel like part of the price tag is due to the ambience and vibe of the restaurant - very cute and lively. read more

Lemme start by saying the service is great. Unfortunately, I ordered a dish I don't like, Pad Thai. I think I only had Pad Thai once before abt 10yrs ago & I remember not liking it cuz it tastes like too much ketchup. Since everyone loves Pad Thai so much, I thought I'd give it another try. I thought the flavor might be different if I got it from another restaurant. However, I was wrong. If it wasn't for that too much ketchup flavor, it wuda been perfect. But I can't taste anything else when a ketchup flavor overpowers everything else. I initially wanted to go for my go to dish which is "Tom yum" but both the Tom yum noodle soup & the dinner entree contain pork broth, which was a surprise to me. I'm so glad the server informed me, otherwise, I wuda just indulged in swine broth w/o knowing. I also tried the pad see ew which wuda been perfect had the sauce not been sweet. Next time, I'll get a different dish which I will hopefully like. read more

Always a good time here. The lunch menu is simple but covers all the basics. Noodles and rice plates alike - pad Thai, pad see ew, curry and fried rice plates just to name few. This visit we tried the chive cakes (appetizer). Had a nice crisp on the outside and not dense on the inside. Generous portion as well. My pad see ew was a little more on the sweet side but I loved the fried tofu I ordered it with. Very tasty. New Happy Hour deal seems to be a great deal for most of the day, 11:30am-6pm, $2 Oysters! And I do not recall from my last visit but the cocktail menu looks great. So many fun flavors (lychee, Yuzu, mango and butterfly pea). The lunch special is a good deal from M-F, 11:30am-4pm. And it's way less crowded than the usual dinner time hours. If you have a large group, reservations are suggested. read more

LOVED LOVED LOVED! This place was so cutesy! I was in Queens running errands and got super hungry. Used my favorite search feature (Explore Nearby on Google Maps). This place was highly rated! I can see why! The decor was uber pretty! It's definitely content creator friendly. Lots of people wall decor that you can take pics in front of. The restaurant was very clean! The staff was polite and attentive. For drinks, my date had the Spicy Babydoll (margarita) and I had the BKK Soul (a Cosmopolitan). Both were delicious! For appetizers, we did the steamed mussels and curry puffs. Both were very tasty! The puffs were my favorite of the two. They were light on the oil and heavy on the fluff which was perfect! I had a side salad as well which was large for just an appetizer. For entrees, my date had the Basil fried rice with shrimp (medium heat). It was too hot for him. He didn't realize that medium spice would have a kick to it so this caught him off guard. I explained to our waitress and she was kind enough to offer a side of white rice to offset the pepper. It did the trick! I had the lemongrass sea bass fillet with white rice. The portions were HUGE! We both ended up taking majority of our entrees home. We weren't leaving it behind! The customer service was exceptional. Despite the restaurant being very crowded when we arrived, we were seated within seconds. The staff checked in on us often but without making us feel rushed or uncomfortable. I have been recommending this place to all my friends since dining here. It's a distance since most of my friends are in Brooklyn but it's certainly worth a visit if ever in the neighborhood. 10/10 recommend! read more
