The ratio of bad to good visits at this location is about 10-to-1 every time- this 3AM trip today was no exception. I recently downloaded the Whataburger app and placed an order at 3:10AM on 10/31/21. Although it was early in the morning, I would assume I could do a curbside/lobby pickup as the app didn't specify- I was told later I could only pickup via the drive thru window. I saw a line of cars maybe 5-6 deep, which isn't an egregious amount of customers, so I decided to get in line. I'm not sure what's going on the in the kitchen, but it took about 35 minutes to get to the pickup window. As I observed the orders from the cars ahead of me, none of them had massive orders, maybe one or two orders per car. As I finally pulled up to the window and, just as I hypothesized- my food arrived cold as I had to wait 30+ minutes in line - although the gentlemen at the window was very polite and understanding, he told me there was no other way to get my food having ordered ahead of time via the mobile app. I left an upset customer, once again. I can't fathom how inefficient this store is being operated - for the amount of money and time I've spent waiting in this same drive thru I can tell you anywhere from 2AM-5AM+ should still be considered a rush hour. I witnessed 4+ employees running around the kitchen when I was at the window; I almost don't believe understaffing is an issue. I've made several requests to speak with a manager regarding my reviews and still have not been contacted. Ive always liked the food at Whataburger. I don't mind waiting a little longer for the order to be ready because I know its being made fresh. The only complaint I have is when im given something different than what I ordered. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the bacon burger i was given but I paid for a green chile bacon burger. Why they failed to include the delicious chiles, I'll never know. I do know that it is way too far to drive all the way back over to have it corrected. It's safe to say I'm obsessed with this place and it's my go to fast food! I have been eating here ever since I was a little girl and now I'm a 25 year old who feels the need to go AT LEAST twice a week. What's there not to love? Their burgers are delicious and ginormous! At 7:30pm Postmates called and said Whataburger's ordering system wasn't working and that my order had been cancelled and that my money would be refunded in 4-7 business days. Wth... So, my fam had already made their mind up about eating here, so we go to the drive-thru. OMG! This drive-thru is ridiculous!! Waited over 40 minutes in line. Line moves slower than a snail. OMG!! I have literally never in my entire human existence waited so long in a drive-thru line. It became so long, so agonizing and so ridiculous I could feel physical rage forming when my amygdala began overriding my brain's cortex, sending my limbic system into overdrive, resulting in the lower portion of my brain reacting, almost violently. Hard to believe how dramatically the service and efficiency at this location has declined over the last couple of months. Customer service used to be their greatest asset and now it's their biggest liability. Not uncommon to expect ice cold food or have the cashier insist that your order be "to go" even if you plan to dine in. I'll start with I love WHATABURGER, just not this location. I've eaten at this location about 5-7 in the past year I've lived in Mesa. I used to work for one in NM and I know what good and bad WHATABURGER is. Usually you get over cooked hamburgers that are sloppily prepared and aren't well portioned. This last time I got a Patty Melt that came with a teaspoon of Creamy Pepper Sauce. I kindly asked for a little more and I was given a 1/4 cup smothered on the bread and meat all nasty on the paper. We had the privilege of meeting Robert Appell.. not sure what his position was but by his light blue collard shirt and fancier name tag, I believe he was the manager. He definitely gets the worst customer service award of the year. Not only is he rude but I had to damn near beat a response outta him. And he had the nerve to act as if I was bothering him. So the first order was completely wrong. Went back thru the line to get the correct order and Robert literally took apart every sandwich with gloves that appeared to be worn his whole shift, pulled things off and added things, slapped each sandwich back together, threw it in the bag, and said here.. now it's correct. At this point my Mom wanted her money back but was told by Robert that that wasn't an option because she paid online and to contact corporate. (You know I did for her) So I told him if you can't give her the money make us the $32.57 of good food we ordered. Not sure what Robert did with the old bag of food but I'm pretty sure he altered it a bit and gave it back to us because it was still wrong and nasty looking. If your reading this review right now and have skimmed through others, don't make the same mistake I did and still go, find another location to try out and give your hard earned money too. Horrible service today. They were out of syrup for the pancakes, yet neglected to mention it when ordered. When questioned, they just shrugged their shoulders. I had to ask for refund and a new item. Then they forgot to bring out the replacement. Had to go back up and inquire where it was. Maybe it was a bad morning for them (although at the time only one other guest in dining area). Whataburger has been something I've only seen in YouTube channel's for the part year. And I have so badly wanted to try it after watching those "We Try Whataburger" videos. Well that day finally came. Most people walk into a new place and stand there trying to figure out what they want from the menu but my husband and I saw the menu online, trying to figure out what we wanted to try just a week ago when we were still in the process of moving phase. Now that we moved here, it was easy. We both got the Combo Meal #2, a Double Pattie Whataburger, it came with all the fixings of a burger, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomatoes, and pickles! First impression I realized the burger was big. So thankfully I came here starving so finishing this thing was no big deal. I found the burger to be super delicious, the bread reminded me of a Hawaiian sweet bread or maybe even the softness of a kaiser roll. Fries were good as well, not greasy or soggy, quite crispy but not too hard. Just the right crispness on the fries!! I cannot wait to try more on the menu, it doesn't remind me of my favorite WA burger joint but it definitely fills a nice space for my hunger. Definitely recommend going here at least once to judge for yourself!! P.S. Choose the Spicy Ketchup to dip your fries, you won't regret it! So good!!! read more

Was in Whataburger about an hour ago,this is a treat for us since we live in South Gilbert and do not get to go to Whataburger very often. I specifically ordered a Whataburger with Cheese wanted Ketchup on it and got it out and they had put mayo on it which I did not want. Plus it was cold and so were the fries. My friends also had cold fries and their burger was messed up as well. We did not go all the way home to eat but far enough that it would have been hard to go back to get them to rectify this situation. Neither one of us was happy with this situation. Months ago I went to Whataburger around 12am to get a midnight snack. I ordered the chicken strip sandwich. When I got home the sandwich was very stale like it had been under the warmer for hours. When I returned to complain about it the manager was nice enough to give me a coupon for a free combo meal for my troubles. Sometime later I returned to use my coupon. A new manager informed me that I could not use the coupon because that manager that gave me the coupon no longer worked there. I was very angry. How do you not honor a coupon that was given to a customer for bad product? They wasted my time, gas money, and $10. I'm never eating at Whataburger again. Their food and customer service suck! The drive thru wait was around 45 minutes. An employee came out and was telling cars to pull around and wait near the bike racks at the front of the store but there were so many cars waiting for so long that the parking lot and exit of the drive thru were blocked, effectively trapping a line of cars in the drive thru. They would bring food to cars in random order and seemed to have no idea which car was to get which food. They also went to every car in line at one point, asking who ordered two kids meals, apparently no one did. Stepping into Whataburger is like stepping into a time warp....and I LOVE it! Fast food is fast food, but if I had to pick a "better" establishment, this would be it. The staff was more than accommodating, friendly, and genuinely hospitable. The girl who took our order hadn't been working there long so she needed to ask for some help, and the manager that came over to help her was patient and didn't talk down to her. She apologized to us a lot for not being very fast as she figured out the register but it didn't bother me at all. We laughed and I told her that I was super patient so it was no big deal. Later she stopped by the table to make sure everything came out correctly and we had a laugh (it had). I saw a commercial the week before for the patty melt and it had been on my mind since. It was really good (for a fast food burger). The fries were fresh, the sweet tea was good, the kids ate ALL of their food....and weren't even upset that there wasn't a toy in the kids meal.
