Sweet tea to drink
Jan H.

Anytime I'm in Germantown close to West street I always stop in here for lunch. Accessible parking lot in front of the building and a welcoming staff. The food is always fresh, hot and delicious. Comfort food at its best and the atmosphere to match. The fried catfish was so good. It came out hot and lightly breaded with the inside of the fish a nice dense moist texture easy to cut with a fork. The greens and beets were very good also. The homemade sweet bread was excellent and delicious. Unfortunately I never have room enough for dessert but may have to take a slice of pecan pie home for later. The service was excellent and this is definitely a well visited local establishment as the folks poured in and waited for open seats. Price of my lunch excluding the tip was $17.49.

I thought this was pretty good. It does seem a bit dirty on the inside. Which could def using some cleaning. The food itself was wonderful. Service was pretty fast. We were in and out. The menu was pretty self explanatory. Would come back and try other things!

This was typical diner food. It wasn't good and it wasn't bad. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat, check them out. Husband was satisfied with his food. He has pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon. I had a biscuit, sausage and potatoes. Service was good. Price point it excellent.

One of my favorite diners ever. Classic diner setup: a long, bright hall with booths and often lots of people. The service is extremely quick and servers are friendly. The prices are awesome! I've shopped around at West Street: pancakes, patty melts, it's all good. But I always come back to fried catfish and fried okra. It's always fresh, hot, and crispy. You can't go wrong with any of their sides, but you'd be wrong to NOT order okra here.

Eggs Benedict and hash browns.

Man sometimes a diner is what you need. We originally went to Big Bad Breakfast but I'm sorry man that joint ain't worth a 60 minute wait. Maybe the one in Oxford but not the Memphis location. Anyway back to West St Diner. One of us wanted lunch and three wanted breakfast. It was almost noon (pay no mind to the time shown on the clock that I shared). Lunch guy got a cheeseburger and French fries. Good looking burger with 2 slices of cheese and generous amounts of lettuce 'maters and onions. Crinkle cut fries. One got strawberry pancakes, the strawberries were frozen (thawed of course) as opposed to fresh. Still tasty though. One had biscuit and gravy an egg and some toast (biscuits were home made) and I had eggs Benedict and hash browns - the hash browns are fresh taters diced and cooked on the skillet top. Very nicely done!!

Fresh turnip greens, spiced apples, corn bread and muffin.

So exactly what you would expect. Very good. Quick service. Real food for less than most fast food places.

Small diner in Germantown with good food and quick service. Don't miss the counter area in case the wait is too long ofr you. Staff is friendly and efficient. Menu has a nice variety for whatever you're in the mood for.

Swai Fish

I have been dining at West St Diner a few years. I make it there at least once a week to dine in. The main dish that I get often is the catfish. It's tasty and fried to perfection. Just recently I dined in and ordered my usual catfish with fries. This time it was DIFFERENT. When I received my plate I noticed IT WAS NOT CATFISH. ITS SWAI FISH. I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. I called the waiter over to ask her is this swai fish. She said "Yes it's swai fish. We've always sold swai fish" This is when I told her I have never received swai fish as an entree when I come here. She was very rude with her response. I completely lost my appetite after being served Swai Fish & the waitress telling me they always serve swai fish. I WILL NOT be dining there anytime soon. Please be aware that although the menu says CATFISH they are serving SWAI FISH..

Not great. The vegetables were clearly out of a can. Mashed potatoes were weird. Chicken and dumplings seemed canned too. Gross.

Beyond the standard domestic list, there was not a lot of craft selection. But when did the tables get so small? There were four of us. We usually take a booth, but the booths were too small to accommodate four grown people. And the tables? Too small for the menus/placemats. See the picture. The sweet tea tasted absolutely awful and I realized the plastic tray under my Rueben was dirty and unwashed. Had lettuce all over it along with grease from someone's previous meal. None of the items I ordered had lettuce on or in them. It's pretty nasty seeing that they don't clean their trays before giving them to people. I felt really off about drinking out of their cups after that because I wasn't sure about their cleanliness after seeing how gross the tray looked. PLEASE WASH YOUR TRAYS BEFORE HANDING THEM TO THE NEXT PERSON TO ORDER. This is beyond unsanitary and requires a visit from the health department. Our waitress was nice though.

The days where restaurants were grateful to have you as patron & treated you that way to earn your continued patronage, seem to be part of the good ole days gone by. That is not the case with The Skybox Grill. I went once on a weekday & once on a hopping Friday night. Both times I left full & happy. If you're into that "Cheers" feeling, this is your place. The staff is so welcoming & kind. You feel good being there with the lively atmosphere & great people all around & the delicious food puts it a step above the rest. On the weekday lunch visit, I saw moms & kids, families, business men/women, folks at the bar glued to the game & those sitting by theirselves with their newspaper as their companion. All appeared to be welcome & content. The prices are comparable with others, but the quality & consistency of their food is much better. The portions are large enough to share or take home leftovers for another meal. The fresh made food is so yummy & getting fresh, quality food for the same as you'd spend at a fast food joint these days, makes it the perfect spot to have a great meal or grab to go that's a cut above the rest. Often, they host fundraising events in support of the local communities or have fun bands & always there is more than 15 tvs with all the sports going. Somehow, they're able to have everything in one, that works so completely cohesively. It's the perfect go to for brunch, lunch, dinner or a lively date night out. Wether you're the whole family full of kids, a lady lunching with friends, a guy grabbing a quick lunch, a couple on a date night or a whole group of friends meeting up for a night out, this place is perfect. Super safe and just minutes outside of Memphis, it's not only a gem for the Collierville folks, but easily accessible for the whole Memphis area. Perfect for taking out of town guest for a relaxed & casual dining experience too. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed!

We started with the steak rolls that come served on a chimichurri sauce and are paired with a spicy ranch dressing this appetizer is nothing short of amazing! I highly recommend you start with these. It seemed like everyone in the restaurant was getting these. I had the 7 ounce filet with Christian's recommended Au Poivre sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor without the sauce, but the sauce definitely put it over the top. It is quite peppery which I loved, but I could see that it might be too much for some. I opted for the sweet potato casserole as my side dish and it was perfectly sweet with a nice brown sugar pecan topping that gave it a nice crunch. My husband had the ribeye as it comes with the Gouda Mac and cheese. He said the steak was a little too lean for him and he would have preferred more marble. He loved the Mac and cheese though and would definitely get it as his side again. Overall it was a great experience and I will definitely be back. It is on the pricier side, so we can't come every weekend, but I definitely loved it and will add it to the special occasion rotation.

That nostalgic feeling of being in a beautiful tavern is pure delight. Absolutely beautiful restaurant, truly deserves limelight recognition in Germantown. Our darling Annalise server was extremely friendly. We loved the presentation of our dinner, but the octopus was a bit soft for our taste. I've had plenty of octopus in other cities and understand the dish is typically more expensive, but a small single mediocre tentacle is quite pricey for $28. I personally prefer a crispy and firmer chew for octopus. The scallops and shishito peppers were a delightful pairing. Valet parking shouldn't be forced upon the customer though?
