I had a perfect dirty martini and my husband had an excellent old fashioned ( chose not to do the smoked version. ) We were seated at the time of our reservation with courteous and prompt attention from our waiter. He informed us of all the specials and gave us the right amount of time to relax before ordering. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. I like the atmosphere, not too large of a dining area, I like the separate room of tables, with a fireplace, along with the area of booths for a more intimate setting. The bar itself is large and has seating on the outskirts of it as well.

I do believe C and I have only been here once as a couple. It did not go well at all, so we have not been back together, as she is holding a bit of a grudge. It's a long story but it all ties back to service. That night we had the worst table in the building and service was spotty at best. Food was still pretty good, just whole ass annoyed by the entirety of the rest of the experience. I am lucky enough to be able to be taken to/host dinner with clients and manufacturers a good bit. They like places like this so I get by ever so often. Gotta love expensed meals!!! Tehehe I like the open kitchen concept they have and the bar is really cool. The metal shelves at the bar that store the booze are bad ass. It's warm and cozy and has a great vibe overall. The last time we sat on the enclosed patio. I had not sat out there before. I think the larger tables all go out there. We had seven and there was another group of about twenty in the same room with us. Food ranges from fairly good to fucking great. I've never had anything bad here, but a few sighs have been had, mostly by misunderstood expectations of what I was getting I would say. So, quite possibly I am the problem. As with most of my problems, actually... The oysters Rockefeller are very different from the norm. Fried oysters on a side of spinach. That's what it seems like. I ate it up, don't get me wrong. I did just switch to only fried oysters after the first one. No need wasting stomach space on spinach. Charbroiled oysters is always a good move and the preparation remains traditional on that one. I do find the oysters to be quite massive and hard to chew the whole thing at once. Cutting them just seems silly though. Steaks are prepared very well and to your liking each time. I have never had a bad one. Good flavor too. I am going to spring on the Hawaiian Ribeye the next time I go on my dime. It's a classic that I remember from Steak and Ale as well as Houston's. Both now gone from Memphis. I like the she crab soup an awful lot, and just about every entree I have had here is killer. You really cannot go wrong with the food. Just order something you normally like and boom. I will also say this. The short ribs I had last time were some of the best I have ever had. Bravo on that! Additionally, I had two giant pieces for like $40! I could only eat one of them after all of the appetizers. Oh.... Yea. They have a hot lobster roll that is good! You don't see that in Memphis very often!! Get you some. Wait.... Lamb Lollipops. They have evolved some of the years but they have really good lamb chops. They used to be the exact same dish as their sister concepts of Itta Bena, BB Kings, and Lafayette's. I am not sure if the whole family still has the old version or not. Here it has changed a good bit. As I write this, I crave it.... Ugh. Damn your foods and your seductive prowess food skills! Lastly, Tommy Peters did great things for this city's food scene. I am sad that he is gone but I know he was proud of this one! Ok. That's enough, Adam.... No one reads this crap anyway. '26 - 48

I chose to sit at the bar since I was by myself. There were 4 others seated there and maybe two high tops in the bar area filled. Wow what an experience. Literally 3 people behind the bar and no one speaks, offers you a menu, nothing. 5 mins after just staring at me, I'd finally wiped down my own area with beverage napkins, found a menu nearby and just sat there waiting. There were almost as many employees as there were patrons in that area and yet, not one greeting or assistance. 45 mins later, when another patron sat 2 seats away from me-same experience but now 5 people standing behind the bar. I ended up sharing my menus with her since she was also ignored. Customer service is super important in any business. I had planned on an actual entree but because of that experience, I simply settled for a chips and queso and grabbed dinner elsewhere afterwards. Will I visit again? Probably as I love the atmosphere, food and drinks. But I will never sit in the bar area again as clearly the ones working last evening didn't care to be there.

What we ordered: Sweet tea: Being in the South, I always judge a place by its sweet tea. This is the molasses-style sweet tea--very sweet--so I'd recommend cutting it with unsweetened tea. Breakfast egg rolls: Delicious overall. The filling could've used a little more salt or seasoning, but the gravy was absolute perfection. Chicken & waffles: Fluffy waffles that leaned slightly sweet, but paired really well with the flavorful, well-fried chicken and maple syrup. I recommend asking for the syrup on the side. The portion is large enough to share. Buffalo chicken sliders: The clear winner of the day! The buffalo sauce was perfect, the buns were soft and fluffy, the chicken was crispy, and the shoestring fries were cooked just right. Caesar salad: Decent, but the real star was the blackened shrimp. The seasoning was excellent, and I'd definitely try something blackened again! Overall: Very good food, friendly and fast service, and a cute environment. I'd absolutely come back for dinner and would recommend it to anyone.

This time, I tried a new menu item--they add and take away items fairly often so you can try new things. The turkey melt had smoked turkey and came on Texas toast. The sandwich was really good, as one would expect with thick cut bacon and smoked turkey. I was very pleased with this new item and will certainly get it again, unless they add something else new that catches my eye.
