Really nice staff. Welcoming and attentive. I had delicious brisket sandwich and got a side salad. Brisket was very lean. I asked for lean and no burnt ends. I also asked for all fixings on the side( Mayo, bbq sauce , pickles and onion) so I could decide how to fix it. I added bbq sauce and onions. Side salad was very good with light Italian dressing. Highly recommend. I was solo today and they were very welcoming. This can be an issue at some restaurants but definitely welcome here! I sat on upper outside patio. Very nice and lots of shade with umbrellas. Food was delicious! GM and I talked and he's very aware of welcoming solo diners. Great experience! read more

Wouldn't know about the beer or the food. We were taken to our table, water was poured by a girl who totally didn't want to be there splashing it all over our legs, and then we were ignored. We got up after 20 minutes and left. On the way out, the smart-ass host said, "Thanks for stopping by" to which I replied, "Thanks for ignoring us" to which he replied, "My pleasure". The burnt ends are amazing (but pricey for how much you get) The whiskey/ky selection is awesome...especially the bourbons. The outdoor patio is great when the weather isn't too cold. I went for the Sticky Bird. Overall, a solid sando but there are certainly some improvements for them to consider. The pros: -Loved the spicy honey sauce - really well balanced. -The addition of Granny Smith apples? Innovative and offered a wonderful crunch The cons: -They used 3 tenders instead of a single thigh and that's an amateur move. They were also surprisingly dry, which didn't help the overall mouthfeel of the sandwich -the brioche bun was a too crumbly. The structural integrity of it left a lot to be desired and also contributed to me feeling it to be a dry sandwich Pro tip: get the smoky ranch on the side. It absolutely slaps. read more

(because i only got 1 bite before it was reclaimed by my son) Because of this extraordinary "bite" I had my Son pick up some carryout when we had family in town. 2 things shape this review: 1. We ordered ribs this time. The smoky flavor was good but too dry. Very dry. 2. THE REAL PROBLEM - When my Son got home I was handed a $410 bill. 4 racks of ribs, brisket and a few sides! By far the worst brisket I have ever had in my life. it was dry and actually crunchy. It was tougher than beef jerky. The burnt ends were ok but had a weird sauce on them. The pickles were sweet. With barbeque? The cole slaw was nothing but kale and cabbage. It was very hot. I doubt these were mistakes, but how could they not be. Just avoid this place, the food is terrible. read more

The food was delicious and the vibes were great but the reason for knocking one star off was because I felt the meat to sides ratio was off...wayyyyy too much meat and not enough sides to balance out the BBQ board. I really liked this place. I needed a place to sit and grab a drink before dinner, and saw the reviews. Stop in, sit at the bar, and well hello, Pliny on tap, good decision to stop in. It's also now a Weds and they have $.87 wings, damn, I have to go to dinner in an hour.. Ahh F it, can I have 6 wings? Sure, no minimum order (they'll actually let you order just one; they told me this). The wings were delicious! Cooked just right, not oversauced, and the bleu cheese was good as well, not this crappy thin bleu cheese with no chunks. It should be noted they have a VERY good bourbon selection (elmer, weller, michters, btac, van winkle, etc), but their prices are a little all over the place. I was lucky enough to get a pour of the Eagle Rare 17 from 2008 at a correct price. But some of the prices on some of the other stuff was ridiculous (and I live in NYC where the prices are insane), but not everything was crazy if you're willing to LOOK at the list. What a great setup! We had a wonderful time sitting upstairs and really can't wait to go back for the patio seating section to be open! Food-wise, the brussels sprouts, cornbread and burnt ends are a MUST for apps! We also ordered a plethora of BBQ items. My husband is from Memphis, TN, so he is quite picky about BBQ, and he LOVED the BBQ here! Our server was great and the atmosphere is on point. A piece of advice I'd recommend to management is to ensure your hosts are excited to welcome your guests in. We walked in and asked to be put on a waitlist, and they didn't seem thrilled about that - almost to the point to where we were wondering if we came after hours or close to closing time (which we weren't). West End has recently re-vamped their menu and if you haven't been in recently...GO. Our dinner tonight was some of the best food we've had in a while. We went in because we had free beer coupons but ended up getting amazing grub. First we ordered a half order of the dirty wings. I'm a spice wimp and they were perfect. Super flavorful with a bit of a kick but not too much at all - A+. Then I ordered the chicken and waffles. I was still finishing the wings when it showed up and ate them as fast as possible because the waffles smelled like heaven. They were some of the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. Supper fluffy mini waffles with subtle spice in the syrup and a bit more spice in the delicious gravy on top of the fried chicken. So good. My boyfriend ordered the brisket sandwich, which I only had a bite of but it was amazing. It was recommended by our waiter, Chris who was also amazing. He spent a few minutes answering our questions about their whiskey club, which we will definitely be back to join, and he also answered our numerous questions about the new menu. Overall our experience tonight at West End was top notch. The food was quick and delicious and there are so many great choices (including unique rotating taps!). Can't wait to get back here in August when I return to Boulder. read more

Great spot for date night, cool atmosphere, food, drink... you will leave wanting to come back!

West End Tavern has been my go-to spot for years for the best wings in Boulder! I always got them extra crispy and I was always a very happy camper. It also used to cost around $16 for a dozen small flats and drumettes. We went back in last week and were very distressed to see that the small wings were totally taken off the menu and replaced with "4 whole wings" for $17. We asked the waiter why this change was made and he said it was because chicken costs have gone up due to supply chain issues?! OK...then charge me more for my favorite wings! Don't take them off the menu completely and replace them with big honking 3-part whole wings that aren't nearly as good. Our frustration was compounded by the fact that these were the best wings in Boulder...and now they are just gone! I hate to write a blistering review like this but they need to bring the old wings back. Charge us more...don't just take them away. Anyone else agree with me on this?? read more

Our waitress, Ashlie, was one of the best servers I've had since moving to Boulder. She got us everything we need throughout the course of the meal. You could also tell the other tables in the patio area (on Pearl St) were pleased as she helped a little girl with her drawing while they waited for food. I'm sure the girl's parents were appreciative as well. I've ate here a few times now, including with my family as they visited me. My dad was impressed by the restaurant's attention to detail. He is a plumber and loved the copper piping accents in their light fixtures. It gives the whole place a unique vibe. The restaurant has a great upstairs rooftop for dining or you can eat outside under a tent on Pearl St., along with the standard indoor options. If you want a great spot for the whole crew then I'd check out West End. read more

This place is a super cozy tavern built for a cold winter's day. They offer a whiskey club, happy hour, daily specials, and 3 free chicken wings with Yelp check-in. What's not to love?! We went here for lunch with only an hour to get in and out for four of us. We were sat immediately, got some drinks (Lefthand Nitro Stout!) and were served almost immediately. The table had a smattering if burgers and brisket sandwiches, and I opted for the daily special to build your own mac and cheese. BBQ pulled pork, bacon, and jalapeños were no-brainers. It was incredible, warm, and filing. The perfect lunch to try and go back to the workplace and try not to fall asleep for 4 hours. I would happily go here again, and would love to take advantage of happy hour and other daily specials. They were out of burnt ends when we were there, which is an obvious must for next time as well! UPDATE: Tried the burnt ends the next time I went. They did not disappoint! Highly recommended! read more

We jumped in out of the cold to the worst service I've experienced in Boulder. Our California transplant bartender was more interested in giving his friends at the end of the bar free drinks than service paying customers. We indicated we'd like another round and he poured his friends a free Samoa milk stout and never got us the 2nd round requested. When we gave up on the drink, we had to wait a fair amount of time to get the bill. This was so disappointing considering the bar was beautiful, cozy and warm. read more
