Ribs (top), pulled pork (right side), moist brisket (left side). All tender and delicious!

The best barbecue I've ever had, especially the moist brisket, ribs (with this delicious crackly sugar crust), and pulled pork (which I normally don't like but blew me away!). Definitely surprised at how expensive a meal for 2 people turned out to be, so more of a one-in-a-while treat but WOW incredible! Candied jalapeños were tasty, but $1 a piece, which I found somewhat annoying. Get yourself there!

We arrived about 30 minutes before the 11am opening time. There was already a handful of people ahead of us. My advice is to arrive early because lines can get long and items can sell out quickly. Both items i tried were some of the best I have ever had anywhere. The sliced brisket was so tender and really didn't need sauce. Besides, the sauce is extra! I'm no expert in TX BBQ but this team is definitely doing something right because people are driving from all over the city to wait in long lines just to get a taste. You should do the same.... Enjoy!!!

Truly the best bbq meal I've ever had. The owners are great, super friendly and helpful for newbies. And to top it off, the music slaps. 10/10

Honestly this is hands down the best BBQ in CO. The meat was moist and super delicious. Here is how I would rank the meat: 1. Smoked Turkey 2. Ribs 3. Candied Pork Belly 4. Ham 5. Brisket This place has THE BEST Turkey. I kid you not. Super juicy, flavorful and tender. The ribs were fall off the bone. Candied pork belly had the right candied-ness and sweetness. Also the peach cobbler had a really good brown sugar and cinnamon top crust. Great way to end the meal. Lastly I recommend the Heat sauce. Other two sauces were okay. You don't really need much though since the meat themselves have so much flavor!

Wayne... you are a master pitmaster. This is good ole smoked Texas BBQ. So let's just get down to what you want to know... THE MEATS Ribs - 5+ Pork Belly - 5+ Smoked Salmon - 5+ Fatty Brisket - 5 Okay, let's explain. The Ribs and Smoked Salmon were my favorite, while the Pork Belly was my other half's favorite. However, I'd truly have all four meats again and again! They were Grade A, Top Quality in flavor, seasoning and juiciness. THE SIDES Homemade Bread - 5+ Mac N' Cheese - 4 Okay, let's explain. The Homemade Bread may have been our favorite part of the whole meal! It was fluffy, fresh and the perfect vessel for our Fatty Brisket. Together, the combo was a 5++ for make it at your table Brisket BBQ Sandwich. THE SAUCES Mild BBQ Sauce - 5 Hot BBQ Sauce - 5+ Okay, let's explain. The Hot BBQ Sauce had such a great tang and kick to it's sweetness. I'll probably just ask for that one next time! I'd like to note that they do have Gold BBQ Sauce. I tried it since Gold BBQ Sauce is not my sauce of tea, I do not feel right judging it. THE ATMOSPHERE It's a pretty basic BBQ joint: you wait in line, you ask for your cuts of meat, you choose your sides, you pay the cashier and sit at a picnic table to eat. The biggest difference for me (coming from living in Texas for 10 years) is that it's not out in the country and there was no free beer given to customers waiting in line... instead it's in a nice shopping center! Oh and they do not serve beer, but do have coke in a bottle. For me, that's an okay switch up! *WARNING & ONLY CONSTRUCTIVE CRITIC* You have to pay for your BBQ sauce. I did not know this when I was choosing my BBQ sauce, so of course, I said two of each. We ended up spending almost $5 extra dollars on sauce and then not even using all of it. Personally, I have never been to BBQ spot that did this. It would have been cool to be given either a heads up of it's cost per unit or at least two on the house, especially considering we spent upwards of $80 dollars just on BBQ. GO BACK? Hell yeah, for sure. Again, it's good ole smoked Texas BBQ! And, definitely the BEST BBQ we've had in Colorado!

I can see why Wayne's Smoke Shack is so highly rated! Based on the reviews, I was prepared for a line out the door during lunchtime. I was surprised to see only a few people inside (I wonder if the sudden snowfall had something to do with it). More BBQ for us I guess! - Brisket: We ordered a pound, which sounds like a lot, doesn't look like a lot (4 thick slices), but as other reviews have said, it's also deceptively filling! We were given the option of choosing either the juicy part or the more lean part, which no other BBQ joint we've been to has done before. - Macaroni and cheese: Thick and creamy. - Homemade bread: Soft, fluffy, and perfect for making a brisket sandwich. - A pickled jalapeno: The Mr thought I would like an entire pickled jalapeno for some reason lol. I like that it wasn't too sour. - BBQ sauces: OG was definitely our favorite; classic savory and sweet. The mustard one was nice as well. The heat has a nice kick. For some reason it reminded me of the Mexican candies I had as a kid (maybe hinting at a tamarind flavor?) I think everything is a la carte. Their BBQ sauces are not complimentary; you pay for each one, but it's quite affordable. There are so many sides to choose from! I'd love to come back and try their homemade banana pudding and sticky toffee bun. I wish I had been better about getting names, but everyone here was friendly and you can tell how passionate they are about their craft. The place is big with plenty of seating. Located in a plaza with plenty of parking.

Excellent Texas style bbq. Probably the best brisket I've had in Colorado. The candied pork belly was also delicious. The turkey was very tender and had great flavor. The beans had an interesting flavor, different than any I've had but I didn't love them. Peach cobbler was good, we got the last bit of it so it was light on peaches. I love that they use plates and utensils for dine in. Just need to add reusable cups.

Best BBQ in CO. Brisket so rich, you'll need to be rolled out on a gurney. Turkey so juicy, you'll never go thirsty.

We knew the routine that this was a walk up to the bar to order food/drinks but we loved the idea of being able to order from a QR code on the table and have food and drinks delivered directly to our table. Unfortunately, the execution completely missed the mark. After placing our food & drink order, we waited several minutes with no drinks. We were about to just go to the bar ourselves when our food arrived. When we asked the food runner about the drinks, we were told, "They're busy, you might have to go to the bar to get them." That completely defeats the purpose of ordering ahead through the QR system. My husband ended up standing in a very long bar line, and just as he was finally reaching the counter, our drinks finally showed up -- probably 10 minutes after the food arrived which was about 25ish minutes after placing the initial order. By then, our food was cold. The brisket sandwich had barely any actual meat on it (maybe 2oz of meat max) and was mostly inedible fat. The wings were dried out, cold, and tasted like they'd been reheated multiple times and drenched in buffalo sauce to cover it up. No one ever checked on us to see if things were okay. (They used to come around all the time) We also had to get our own utensils and condiments which we knew from previous visits, but the guy that dropped off the food made sure to tell us to bus our own table, afterwards, scrape food off dishes into the trash, and return trays and dishes to busstubs they had set out. Like I said, from our previous visits we knew this is more of a bar-service style restaurant and not full table service, but the expectation of any sort of a tip much less the 25% gratuity that was automatically generated/expected on our e-bill before actually finalizing our bill is honestly ridiculous. Other than someone dropping food at the table and a bartender opening a can of beer, there was essentially zero customer service. We ordered our own food, got our own utensils and condiments, cleaned up our own table, and still somehow were expected to tip at a level you'd expect from a full-service restaurant!? I can get the same level of service at a fast food restaurant and no one expects a 25% tip there. To top it off, the live band felt more suited for a retirement community social hour than a lively Saturday night crowd. Needless to say... in the six years it's been since we have been to the old man, we clearly have missed nothing other than its decline.

We walked in as a two top and got seated in the back room. At first I wasn't loving it since it's kind of cut off from the rest of the restaurant and the ambiance definitely takes a hit back there. But our server Tristen completely turned that around. Super knowledgeable, funny, kind, and quick. He also paid close attention to my girlfriend's allergies and made sure she could order without stressing, which I really appreciated. Food wise, everything hit. Classic steakhouse vibes in the best way. My ribeye was cooked perfectly and the mussels we started with were actually great, which you don't always expect out here in Colorado being landlocked. All in all, aside from the back room situation and the phone issue, this place delivered. Honestly feels like that space should be reserved for private events or opened up a bit. Huge shoutout to Tristen though, he alone bumped this from a solid 3 to a 4 for me.

It's actually quite easy to miss with Teocalli having way more business just one street down. It's got a lovely interior with lots of wood and a nice rooftop patio. Walking in, I wouldn't think much of it. The menu is relatively simple with some appetizers, salads, hot dogs, sandwiches, and some other things. Where this place shines is their bacon, and by extension their sandwiches. Multiple people I've gone with have said the JGBLT is the best sandwich they've ever had. It's certainly up there for me, just behind panino I've had in Italy. It's nothing complicated, but each part of the sandwich is so well done that the finished product is understated and overwhelming. So good. It's also the perfect portion, every time. It doesn't seem to matter how hungry I am when I come in. They have an excellent beer list with lots of things to choose from. The whiskey menu is absolutely insane, and the whiskey flights are necessary to digest it. A small thing that is really nice- their sodas. It's not just coca cola or Pepsi products- they have craft sodas, which are really excellent. Additionally, you can get their non alcoholic cocktails for the same price as just a soda, which is lovely. The daily specials are always fantastic and a good way to get something unexpected. I will be extremely sad when I have to move from Lafayette, as this restaurant is one of my favorites in the world.
