Great off-the-beaten-path bistro with excellent food and an aviation atmosphere. I ordered the 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup combo. Sandwich was the Tail Dragger sandwich (Black Forest ham, oven-roasted turkey, pastrami, salami, Swiss, provolone, and mayo on sourdough) along with Jalapeño Beer Cheese soup. The sandwich was spot on, well toasted with a satisfying crunch, melty cheese, and layers of flavor in every bite. The soup was equally impressive: rich, cheesy, and savory with just the right amount of jalapeño kick without being overpowering. There was a fairly large group of older / retired folks who had just ordered when I arrived. Whether they were waiting on a charter flight or this is a regular Wednesday gathering, the place had a fun atmosphere. Despite the crowd and several pending orders, my food came out faster than expected. As an added bonus, the Vegas Golden Knights' jet was parked on the tarmac, which was very cool to see. This place reinforces my theory that FBOs and semi-private airports often have some of the best hidden gem diners and bistros, places usually known only to flight crews and private pilots. I was taking a flight to Arizona to meet a girl I've wanted to meet for a year. I got into Rocky Mountain airport an hour early and decided to get something to eat. I found this little restaurant right inside the main terminal. The staff were absolutely wonderful and treated me like gold. I ordered a four cheese flatbread pizza and it was simple and tasty. My wife ordered a bbq pulled pork sandwich that she said was fantastic as well. This was a very simple lunch that was made better by such an incredibly personable staff. From ordering to eating was about ten minutes. If you find yourself in Rocky Mountain Airport, give this little place a try. I think you'll enjoy it as much as my wife and I did. read more

I've been wanting to try Blue Sky for such a long time. We finally made it in and stopped by for lunch. We split a chicken pesto sandwich. It was cheesy and comforting! It is an unassuming counter, and you can take your food and eat in one of the upstairs or downstairs dining areas, or sit outside. This place was amazing! The staff was super friendly. The food was very good. The smoke their own brisket, and pork. Which was to die for! I got a grilled chicken cesar salad, the chicken was juicy and thin, and that salad was huge! And refreshing. They have outdoor seating which is basically right on the runway! We saw at least a dozen planes take off. Our children loved, but the noise was intense for them next I'll bring some ear plugs! (They are toddlers and tiny still.) During a long day of flying, this was a great spot for us to take a break and grab a bite to eat on their outdoor patio. The staff was very friendly, especially considering it's a counter you order from. They brought us our food, repeatedly checked on us, and took our trash when we finished. This was a surprise since we thought it was just a quick counter order/pickup type place. I ordered the Taxi Wade Turkey (hot) with coleslaw and I enjoyed it. The coleslaw was just average compared to others but it seemed homemade. My copilot ordered the Reuben with potato salad and coleslaw. He really enjoyed his sandwich as well. The portions were a great size for lunch and we left satisfied. They were very busy so it wasn't crazy fast but definitely wouldn't call it slow. From there, we found a seat at one of the tables outside that offered a beautiful view of the front range and airplane runway. There weren't any planes taking off so it was rather quiet and one of those settings that reminds you why Colorado is simply the best. Our food came pretty quickly and I devoured by brisket sandwich! The meat was sandwiched between a soft hoagie roll that my fiancee couldn't stop talking about. On the side I got coleslaw which was pretty standard, and it also came with a refreshing slice of watermelon. All in all, an unexpected solid find in Broomfield. Great lunch spot at the Rocky Mountain Airport. Let's all adjust our expectations accordingly -- this is a counter within the airport terminal with seating inside and outside on a patio. You'll order at a walk up counter where chances are a very friendly woman will take your special and make you smile - find seating wherever you want (gotta pick a patio table on a nice day) and they'll bring you your food. When we first walked in my dad laughed, saying I brought him to a cafeteria.... Basically that's what it is. Not a "bistro" per se. Now that we're all on the same page about what kind of location it is, I'll tell you the food is actually good! I was so skeptical when I walked in, but it was good, priced accordingly and you really can't beat the views. They do a tasty and brisk breakfast, nice paninis for lunch and amazing slow smoked ribs Wednesday-Friday. On nice days you can sit outside and enjoy the private planes taking off against a mountain vista. The servers are friendly and make an effort to learn your name. You wouldn't think that a little bistro in a tiny airport would be worth a damn but, in this case, you would be dead wrong. As per usual these days, we checked Yelp for a place to eat. I'd seen this one come up before and didn't try it based on the fact that it's located at the airport. It's worth every one of the five stars I've given it and the overall five stars it has earned at the time this review was written. We arrived at 12:30 and were served immediately. It's a counter service shop. The service was excellent. In fact, after we'd placed our order, one of the owners came to the counter to introduce herself and tell us a little bit about the place. She was very warm and sincere. It's hard to beat the view of the front range outside! I recommend eating outside where you can watch the planes come and go. It's occasionally noisy as a plane taxi's in but, it's also pretty damn cool. There was even a group of planes practicing maneuvers for an air show while we were enjoying our meal! Food... OMG!!! Sandwiches, fabulous, great tasting, generous portions, wow! The BBQ is really good! We also sampled the roast beef, the chicken pesto, and the chicken cordon bleu - all were really good! Stop in and try this place when you get a chance! You will not be disappointed! P.S. It's in the airport terminal on the west side of the roundabout. P.S.S. I work nearby and discovered this place a few years ago when my company treated us to lunch. Since then, I have been here about 5-7 times - both dining in, to-go, and delivery. It's located inside the Metro Airport and has plenty of seating both inside and outside. You can watch the planes or simply enjoy the fresh air that the patio provides. It's worth noting they also sell breakfast, but I have only had lunch here. Usually I'll spend about $8 for lunch including a cookie (without a drink). My favorite thing on the menu is the club sandwich - their bacon is always crispy, which I love. I tend to be kind of picky, and they are always willing to substitute ingredients without any extra charge. Every sandwich comes with your choice of sides - chips, homemade potato salad (which I recommend), and a couple other choices. Plus, you get a pickle and a mint. The cookies, called Hope's Cookies, are baked fresh and come in two's, perfect for sharing or for a sweet snack. My favorite is the chocolate chip. They also offer homemade BBQ on Wednesdays & Fridays. A perfect example of their customer service: Last time I got my club sandwich, I added avocado (which is really guac), which is not included and therefore extra. When I got back to the office, I saw none on the sandwich. I called them back. Not only did they apologize but they offered to give me free guac when I came in next. That was months ago. When I walked in today, the cashier (and co-owner) recognized me and immediately said, "I owe you avocado!" It was great to feel appreciated. They also have a punch card available - come in 10 times and your 11th meal is free. The great thing about this is that I have lost or forgotten my card before and each time they are willing to start a new one for you and combine the card(s) you may have together. I highly recommend this place - it's local, the food is great, and it's something different from the big box restaurants around here. read more

Their food is amazing and their service is top notch. They go above and beyond to make sure their customers are happy. I am a picky eater and they always accommodate special requests for my meals and deliver it quickly. We use Blue Sky Bistro for catering as well and they always provide the best food from snacks and appetizers to full meals and desserts. They never disappoint us! Perfect lunch place if you actually have a reason to be in the area. I was not only impressed by the food but by the commitment of the woman taking orders to learn each customers name. It really felt like she wants each and every person that tries her bistro to become a regular. Back to the food though. I knew I was going to order the barbecue before I even found where the bistro was at. Walking around the outside of the building I caught a whiff of the sweet delicious meat on slowly cooking away inside. Every Wednesday thru Friday, they pick a different item to barbecue, and they cook it right! I had the Texas cheesesteak. Built like a Philly, the only difference was barbecue beef brisket as the steak served with a side of bbq sauce to pour over the meat, onions, and peppers. Mmmm! Needless to say, I was quite surprised when we got to the airport that we had arrived at our destination. We went in and ordered. I opted for the BBQ Brisket sandwich. We then were told to take a seat wherever we wanted. We opted to sit outside, which was super cool since it was right on the tarmack. The staff was SUPER friendly, and very personable. The food came out pretty quick, even though they were pretty busy. The sandwich was good. Don't know if I'd call it "the best ever" being from Virginia..But it was definitely pretty good. Barbeque Wednesday includes ribs, chicken and a hot or mild link with your choice of a side and a fountain drink. The barbeque sauce is homemade by Chef Dan, the owner. His rib rub is also homemade and hard for me to stay out of. I love it. On Thursdays, Dan usually has smoked meatball sandwiches, meatloaf sandwiches, smoked chicken salad sandwiches or something else equally delicious for his special...all smoked on Dan's awesome smoker on the patio. It is impressive. On Fridays, it will either be the Texas cheese steak or the Cuban. You can also get a pulled pork or brisket sandwich on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. These are becoming quite a big hit. You simply must come and experience it. Don't forget. Winter is coming up, and we always have good soups to warm the body up and put you back in your comfort zone for the day. Dan makes different kinds of soup throughout the winter. If you aren't sure if you will like it, we have no problem giving you a taster before you order. There is always his green chili that is to die for. As close to perfect lunch as you can get...at the small airport, we eat here once a week to get BBQ! They only have BBQ Wed-Fri, as they smoke it on Mon.and Tues.
