My fiancé and I recently moved here from Texas, which is famous for bbq. When we moved into the Tennyson area, we kept passing Post Oak and the smell was always DELICIOUS. We finally decided to stop in, and we were not disappointed! Everything was so tasty. Very comparable to Terry Black's in ATX, if you've been there. Standard portions and options, and I like that they have specials every day of the week. This amount of food was more than enough for two of us. We will definitely be back!

Came back after a year, and it was still just as good as the first time. I really love the Mac and the brussel sprouts are delicious. It wasn't as crowded as the first time we came so it was a nice atmosphere. I had a free pulled pork sandwich which was HUGE. We also got two spare ribs, 1/2 pound brisket and Parmesan fries. The spare ribs and the pork sandwich were the highlights both were juicy and just great flavor. The let downs for me were the fries they were like soggy and just not a consistent fry on them. I also am not the biggest fan of the brisket as I kind of think it's dry. Otherwise this place is great and I would recommend.

We stopped by on our last day in the Denver area. I needed some MEAT! Our party of five received special attention from the owners who suggested we order a family-style platter of a selection of their meats. We opted for this with pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked turkey and spicy jalapeño sausage complimented with sides of corn bread muffins, cowboy beans and collard greens. I've had Texas BBQ in San Marcos during a recent visit and this compared favorably to Salt Lick BBQ. The brisket was lean and very tender, the pork was on par with any other pulled pork I have had back east. However, to me, the star of the show was the smoked turkey. The two slabs I ate were easily the best I have had to date. Juicy, tender and smoked to perfection. The sides got mixed reviews. Some weren't wild about the collards and, given I don't like them, I can't comment. However, the cowboy beans were a perfect side for all this meat. It had great taste and just the right amount of heat. The corn bread muffins were great with their honey butter. Man, they give you a lot of butter! We left our hunger behind and still had several take-out containers for a snack on the road. I liked this place a lot and it is now one of my favorite places to eat when in Denver.

Best Texas-style barbecue in Denver - is not even close! Dino ribs, brisket, pork ribs - and pork belly, and all the sides - STELLAR - best anywhere near Denver. The only possible negatives are the long lines sometimes, and when they run out of many of our faves. Staff is awesome, too - friendly and always cheerful.

5 stars! As someone from Memphis, I'm pretty picky when it comes to BBQ, so I don't hand out praise lightly. Post Oak BBQ absolutely delivered. The Dino beef rib was cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and worth every bite. The pork ribs were meaty and had great texture, and the collard greens had just the right amount of vinegar to balance everything out. This is the best BBQ I've found in town so far. The sauces lean more Texas-style than what I'm used to, but I won't fault them for that . If you're looking for outstanding BBQ, Post Oak BBQ is definitely worth a visit.

Post Oak is the best bbq spot! The service is friendly, the food came out fast and the taste is top notch! I wish they had more locations. Parking is a struggle on Tennyson.

Top to bottom an amazing BBQ restaurant, the only thing I didn't like was the beans. Starting with the service it was AMAZING! We opted to sit at the bar and our very busy bartender could not have been a better hostess. Making suggestions, answering questions, and even ensuring that I got a military discount I would not have thought to ask for at the end of my meal. (I didn't realize I was wearing my Army shirt) The food was outstanding not too much smoke (but still a Smokey flavor) tender and juicy meat, and 3 different sauces on the side to pair with. The Beans were not my favorite but that was a matter of preference in liking very BBQ forward beans. They were still cooked well. The Mac & Cheese was creamy with just the right amount of flavor and the mashed potatoes with country gravy were delicious. My favorite was the Jalapeño cheese sausage which was unbelievably delicious. The cost to food ratio was fair, and while BBQ is a bit more expensive it was very much worth it.

This place was off the hook! A 4.5 if I could adjust the rating. Colorado dwelling from Texas originally, we've been looking for Texas BBQ all over. I have to say we were thoroughly impressed here off the Tennyson strip! The staff was thorough and kind, greeting us in and sending us off with full bellies and smiles radiating. The place was bustling and full, a good sign in my book. We chose a few classics to get a good feel: beef brisket, smoked turkey, smoked wings with collard greens and the house bacon mac as our sides. Unfortunately, rolling in at nearly 7 we missed the honey glazed biscuits and Dino-ribs, already sold out for the day. The wings and turkey were cooked perfectly! I did prefer the juicier flats compared to the drums. The brisket, coming in at third place, was dry unfortunately. The sauces had to carry that one down, although the smoky flavor was there. Greens were absolutely delicious, the bacon mac was creamy and thick and flavorful. The Texas and Carolina sauces were a crowd favorite, tangy with a little kick, just enough to get the sinuses running! They had complimentary white bread (not toasted), cucumbers and jalapeños. Overall, the place was wonderful! I can't wait to go back start of service, see if we get blessed with some of the other meats they got to offer. :)

Literal perfection!!! Got the pulled pork Carolina and it was gone in 2.5 seconds!! Brussel sprouts and jalapeño Mac n cheese were great too. Only thing I regret is not ordering more meat options!! Prolly a good thing I don't live around here or else I'd be there once a week! Sat at the bar and the bartenders were super friendly! Everything came out really fast too. Went later than the normal dinner rush (like 7/8ish) and it was still busy!

Overall rating: 4.5/5 I love Texas style bbq so I was super excited to check out Post Oak Barbecue when I visited Denver. The inside was lively with people going in and out. Once inside, line up to order your meal which they prepare and bring to your table. One thing to note is that they do prefer you order first before finding a table. I came with family on a Tuesday around 7pm and it was decently packed. We parked along the streets and walked on over. The servers were really friendly and took their time explaining their menu. Our food came out within 10 minutes after we ordered. For a party of 4, we got: 1. Brisket (4/5): flavor was good but a bit dry 2. Sausage (5/5): good flavor and had a bite to it 3. Loaded potatoes with pulled pork (5/5): the biggest baked potato I had! Pulled pork was amazing 4. Corn muffin (3.5/5): good but pretty standard. It came with a cinnamon butter which I didn't really like 5. Dirty Mac with burnt ends (5/5): creamy and velvety either great flavor! I loved the burnt ends 6. Cream corn (4/5): good flavor but consistency was a bit watery 7. Brussel sprouts (5/5): these were phenomenal! Great flavor and really crispy! Overall a great place to check out. I'd recommend coming and for sure ordering the Brussel sprouts sides with whatever else interests you!

Visiting Colorado for the first time, I had to make a pit stop for some barbecue, and this place absolutely delivered. I loved that they offer daily specials; since it was Friday, they had a great deal on their burnt ends. I also tried the ribs, $8 for a two-count or $4 for a single, and they were amazing. The jalapeño mac and cheese was incredibly delicious. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything tastes so good. I also really appreciated the grab-and-go to-go trays laid out and ready instead of having to ask an employee. That was a new experience for me, and I loved the concept. Ambiance is nice and spacious and great for big groups.

We visited Post Oak BBQ on a Monday afternoon. The place was relatively packed. You order from the counter, get a number, and the food is brought out to your table. We had the brisket with chips and coleslaw, the chicken wings, and a side of the daily special (a tasty beef stew). Everything tasted delicious and we will definitely be back if in the area.

Best Barbecue I've had in a long time!! The restaurant is super cute with a rustic feel. I especially liked the brick wall and the neon bar signs. Our bartender was amazing! He was attentive and not only fixed our drinks but took our dinner order as well! We totally enjoyed every bite of our order. The wings, ribs, collards and Brussel sprouts were some of the best I've had. I would highly recommend Post Oak Barbecue. Take out or eat in!!!

It's not close from my southeast Denver house at all but I make the trip to go here when I crave for good/quality bbq. Service is (in my frankest sense) solid and this restaurant has never failed in that regard. I always see the same lady manning the front. Her demeanor and speech are always consistent where her professionalism is her strong attribute. Quality is of utmost importance at any restaurant and this place is consistent in that regard as well. Today, I had pulled pork (about 6oz; by the way, you get to pick how much you want as you pay by the weight.) To accompany my meat, I got the Elote Salad and the Jalapeno Corn Bread. These created the perfect combination of balanced breakfast (yup, it was past 11am but it was my first meal of the day!!) It truly filled me up. The ambiance is of a typical bbq place. It's small and yet with the symbiotic relationship with the brewery right next door, the current space size justifies. The customers from said brewery come and get food as "eat-in" to take their plates back to the brewery to eat while brewing themselves up (lol!) Businesses co-exist/co-mingle/co-operate. We all help each other. I am giving my solid high five to Pit Fiend today. This place has my heart.

These cats worked at Owlbear, the former BBQ restaurant in this very space. When they closed, they decided to take the leap of faith, rebrand slightly, and carry on the tradition. Well it's probably been three years at this point, clearly they're succeeding in this tough biz! I used to say one of the quintessential Denver experiences was having a plate of Owlbear while drinking an OMF beer ( the neighboring brewery Our Mutual Friend). I'm happy to report the Pit Fiend and OMF relationship is just as strong, and the experience still remains a very Denver thing to do. Things to note: they are using USDA prime beef brisket, heritage breed duroc pork, and make their sausages and sauces from scratch. So they're doing things the right way, not sacrificing quality, and not taking shortcuts. This is important in the BBQ world!!! Low and slowwwww, baby. We split a half pound of fatty brisket, pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese, and a cornbread muffin situation. Food was awesome. I was going to town on the brisket. Pulled apart as it should, while still remaining intact. The mac isn't your typical mac, but boy it's rich and cheesy. You can tell they work hard for the community. Sometimes it's overwhelming inside and the staff seems a little behind, but they hustle here. Tip your pitmasters!!!
