We used to come to The Old Man for years before we had kids and moved over 30 min away. I don't think we had been back since pre-COVID times, but we decided to make the extra drive because we remembered the great BBQ and food we used to get there. Boy, has this place changed. We knew the routine that this was a walk up to the bar to order food/drinks but we loved the idea of being able to order from a QR code on the table and have food and drinks delivered directly to our table. Unfortunately, the execution completely missed the mark. After placing our food & drink order, we waited several minutes with no drinks. We were about to just go to the bar ourselves when our food arrived. When we asked the food runner about the drinks, we were told, "They're busy, you might have to go to the bar to get them." That completely defeats the purpose of ordering ahead through the QR system. My husband ended up standing in a very long bar line, and just as he was finally reaching the counter, our drinks finally showed up -- probably 10 minutes after the food arrived which was about 25ish minutes after placing the initial order. By then, our food was cold. The brisket sandwich had barely any actual meat on it (maybe 2oz of meat max) and was mostly inedible fat. The wings were dried out, cold, and tasted like they'd been reheated multiple times and drenched in buffalo sauce to cover it up. No one ever checked on us to see if things were okay. (They used to come around all the time) We also had to get our own utensils and condiments which we knew from previous visits, but the guy that dropped off the food made sure to tell us to bus our own table, afterwards, scrape food off dishes into the trash, and return trays and dishes to busstubs they had set out. Like I said, from our previous visits we knew this is more of a bar-service style restaurant and not full table service, but the expectation of any sort of a tip much less the 25% gratuity that was automatically generated/expected on our e-bill before actually finalizing our bill is honestly ridiculous. Other than someone dropping food at the table and a bartender opening a can of beer, there was essentially zero customer service. We ordered our own food, got our own utensils and condiments, cleaned up our own table, and still somehow were expected to tip at a level you'd expect from a full-service restaurant!? I can get the same level of service at a fast food restaurant and no one expects a 25% tip there. To top it off, the live band felt more suited for a retirement community social hour than a lively Saturday night crowd. Came from out of town to visit family and stumbled upon this place which was nice. Very cool on the inside and out with all the TV'sto watch sports, play pool outside and chill with company near the fire pits to stay warm. The got a good selection fo beers, didn't try any of the food but we did enjoy all the games they had outside in the back patio. The place is pretty big, inside and out. Going to be just my review on ordering takeout. I'm always looking to try local spots for wings and stumbled upon this place as I've heard a coworker talk about it before for drinks and they mentioned they have smoked wings. Recently after going on more of a keto diet I try and hit a different place up once a week to try their wings. I ended up getting an order of smoked wings with buffalo sauce, ranch and blue cheese dip on the side. Positives were the wings smelled great and visually were appealing with nice char. Negatives are they were extremely dry making them hard to eat, not really sauced well (they put sauced down in the container and just threw wings on top of it and shut the box), and lastly only got ranch not blue cheese like I also ordered. Flavor wise very similar to a backyard smoker product, feel like they need to brine their wings to produce a juicer product. Overall not bad but I had higher hopes for these wings based on others praise. Think a 3 rating is fair to say for me. Probably wouldnt order again but looks like a decent watering hole to grab a few drinks and that's it. read more

I assume the food looked good too but I basically was eating in the dark so if you like to see your food, this might be a problem for you. The attendant was super friendly and helpful. Prices were pretty steep and crowd was a bunch of annoying kids but what can you do. Beer and drinks were in silo type cups. Back yard area was pretty cool with fire pits and a couple pool tables but the tables were inundated by college kids. If I was a college kid, I'd probably give the place 5 stars but I'm not so there you go. Perfect local hangout! Dive bar inside, huge family and dog friendly patio outside. Lots of games, cornhole, giant connect four, giant jenga, ring hook game, dart boards, arcade games inside, pool tables, large tv outside to watch games and stage for live music, outdoor bar, 2 large fire pits. They have brunch on the weekends and a bbq menu. We have been here multiple times. The food is good but sometimes a long wait. This place gets pretty crowded. Today is their 3rd annual pig roast luau. $12 per plate of whole smoked pork and a side. My husband and I have come here for date nights and drinks and we've also brought our kids for bbq on the weekends. We love the old man. It's a community staple in Broomfield and nice that it's not an expensive chain bar and grill. read more

This place looks rough from the outside and definitely seems like a local jaunt. I came here because of the recommendation of a few friends who live up in the area, specifically their wings. They have a huge back patio so it's dog friendly and more than enough room for all. It's a bit confusing though since we stopped here at lunch time and there wasn't a way to get into the back patio (locked Gate). I had our dog so I didn't want to walk right in so I ended up calling and they told me to bring out dog in through the restaurant.....ok. There was no service outside to take orders, instead order via QR card so easy enough. I got the buffalo wings and they didn't take too long to come out. Tasty, saucy, smoked.....I forgot that last detail which was a surprise but they were good regardless. I wasn't looking for fine dining but even my wife makes a buffalo chicken salad far better than what I received. I really won't think about this location next time I'm up in this part of town. I may stop by in a pinch but it certainly won't be on the forefront of my mind. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing as my wife's buffalo wings looked awesome. I requested for light bleu cheese on my salad and received 3 bits of bleu cheese. Didn't realize it was that "light." The Old Man Bar was our go to every weekend last football season. We used to have great service, quality food, and a good and upbeat time. Ever since they switched to a new POS system with the QR codes for ordering the service has gone down hill. Some old staff members that were great seem to have left. Now when we go, we get below average service from bartenders with lack luster attitudes and our food usually has at least 1 item that isn't right. When the food is right, it's great. When specific bartenders are working, it doesn't feel like we're inconveniencing them. We'll see how many football games we watch there this season. Given our recent experiences, we might find somewhere else to watch the games. read more

Great local watering hole especially in the nice weather. Patio is fantastic when there are no events. Beer and spirit selection is very average, they really need to up their game. They will do frozen margs and lemonades which are great. Food selection is mostly bbq which can be hit or miss often the bbq is more on the dry side. They do have great bbq sauces and fried food. Stick to the pork, wings and anything fried. It's a unique bar that's open late with mega beer garden, rare find around this area. read more

I've always liked the fin concept of this place, have been going for years outside a hiatus since covid. I've have several visits over the summer and seems good to be back, yet the inconsistent service and food quality has turned me and the guests I've brought off completely. Last Mondays' visit did it in for me. Burger had obviously been precooked and reheated and if that was not the case it's exactly what it tasted like, some flavor, way overcooked and consistency of a brick. I choked down two bites and was done. No comment from the server regarding the leftovers, tots were crisp but cold. Good grief how do you screw up burgers this badly? But, the beers on tap were cold and there were lots of canned cocktail & seltzer options. This place has a stellar back patio. There's tons of space, there's a huge projector screen for sports. Well the name says it all. The minute I parked in the lot I felt like an old man. Another patron rode his Honda XR 500 dirt bike out for the night and it reminded me of being 16 again. Those were great times. Ok now to the establishment. This place screams "come hang out with your friends". The large beer garden has many picnic tables and patio chairs for everyone to sit and enjoy dinner, drinks and time together. The bbq was sent out quickly and the back bartender keep our glasses full. All that was missing from the night was some live music on the beer garden stage. Over charred and so rubbery we couldn't separate not even 1 rib from the slab. 4 of us agreed the ribs were absolute trash and an embarrassment. However, the experience was awesome. We loved the Beer Garden and the woman at the counter. The place is super cool. Brisket was top notch. Mac and Cheese was elite. Loved the hot links! I'm going to preface this review with two facts about me: 1. I have been working in bars for a decade 2. I am very visibly gay and gender nonconforming Pros: The drinks were good (my partner and I each had two beers) and the patio is great. Cons: While we were there, a man threatened to beat the shit out of me, threatened to kill me, for looking like me in public. I started crying and the bartender told us both (as if we were equally involved) to break it up. I need to reiterate: I've worked in bars my whole life. I get that people get too drunk some times, start weird fights, do weird things. I've broken up bar fights before. Here are some of the solutions I would have tried: 1. 86 this guy, kick him off the property 2. Offer to call the police, as someone has specifically said they're about to hurt someone for looking gay in public 3. Offer to walk the victim to their car 4. Apologize, maybe, for the hate crime that almost occurred in the bar 5. Don't let the guy who just promised violence to someone half his weight finish his drink at the bar and explain his side of the story He didn't ask me my side of the story, didn't kick this guy off the property. Just told us not to "start another fight" outside. I know most of the people reading this do not look like me, and are not at risk of transphobic violence. But if you have friends who do, or if you can possibly be a vulnerable person while drunk at a bar, stay away from this one. They don't know how to handle an emergency. Maybe they just don't care. I had to walk to my car while this man who had threatened to do specifically homophobic violence was sitting in the curb smoking a cigarette. The way this was handled was so unsafe, so unprofessional, and I will never be going back again. I will be telling everyone in my community to never go back again. Shout out to all the bar patrons who told me they wouldn't let this guy hurt me. Train your fucking staff better. read more

We've been there three times. The food is good but I'd only recommend going if you want to have a few beers and are really hungry. It reminds me of Jack in the Box with better meal selection. Some of the non meat food is over salted af. They make a mid old fashion. I've had it with their cheap house whiskey and with Jack and both times tasted like something so missing. The service is pretty good. Everyone is pretty chill and helpful. You seat yourself so if it's busy or a big game is on I'd go somewhere else to eat I would recommend getting one of their meat platters or sandwiches. Stopped by on Friday evening for a burger and some tots. I'm not sure what happened to this place. They used to have phenomenal burgers and green chili. The chili tasted like taco soup, it had ground meat in it. Absolute shit to be honest. No flavor or heat. The burgers were dry and overcooked. we didn't even finish our burgers. They only redeeming item was the tater tots. Creamy delicious balls of goodness. Only 4 per order though. We'll probably swing by if we're in the area, but we're not making a special trip. We moved to Broomfield about a year ago and come here regularly. Although my girlfriend and I miss the old menu (really miss the house made chips! BRING THESE BACK OLD MAN!). The rest of the menu is fairly standard bar food, which is always good. They recently remodeled outside and prices increased slightly in the food, but nothing to scare us away. Service has never disappointed and the atmosphere is why we come. We actually like the dive bar vibe and old school feel of this place. If you want trendy and modern, run of the mill place filled with gen z bros and 20 somethings with flat rimmed hats on, look elsewhere. If you want laid back, neighborhood feel inside and a huge bier garden outside then try this place out. I read complaints of not bringing children here due to offensive music playing, etc...uhhh that's what Applebees and Chuck E Cheese are for. It's a BAR people!! I'd rather not have to watch your screaming 'kiddos' run around like it McDonald's Playland anyways. read more

I Like wings & this place has my favorite. They always come out juicy and smoky. They have bottles of different sauces to squirt on. My go to sauce is the mustard sauce.. I like their beans and ribs too. It seems to be the neighborhood watering hole.
