Subsequent visits to Elevated Q has seen a significant deterioration in service to the point our party walked out of the restaurant. Three employees thought it was more important to chat behind the bar instead of acknowledging that we were seated at the bar. I believe this is why there were a couple dozen people total at the restaurant on a late afternoon. There are many other bbq restaurants in the area, Elevated Q is not the best by far. read more

I guess I expected just a little bit more from this location based on what I had read online. The great: the fried green tomatoes were very good and there's a decent draft beer selection on the menu. I had the burnt ends and the smoked turkey, along with the texas chili. The whole thing came with fries. The fries were good and standard fare. The bartender was attentive and friendly; she chatted with us a bit and seemed to be enjoying her day. The ambience missed the mark a little bit. Perhaps it was our timing, but it seemed really quiet, even though there were big screens with the football game, which for some reason, we couldn't hear. Every once in a while we'd hear a news cast or something playing on a different station. It seemed like all the other folks in the bar knew each other, which was fine. Then something went sideways with the sound system and it was dead silent in the place for quite a while, which struck us as odd. The barbecued stuff was good and the sauce selection was very good but something just seemed to be missing from the experience. The bestie and I found this venue after watching a great for a show by That 80s Band. We walked over and were immediately greeted by the manager and hostess. The look and decor of the restaurant was very modern and the smells wafting out of the kitchen were heavenly! We were sat in a large booth in the well-sized dining room. Our server came right over and told us about specials and took our drink orders. We went over the menu and got fried green tomatoes and bestie got their chili appetizer. Our cocktails came out...I can't remember what I ordered but she had a peach cobbler inspired drink. It was too sweet for my taste but it was delicious. For our entrees I got the pulled pork sandwich and she got the fried chicken sandwich. Both came with crispy salty fries. Everything was so good! Our server was great about checking in on us but allowed us to eat. The manager even came over again to see how everything was. Just left ElevateQ, in the Orchard and two of us agreed it was the worst pulled pork sandwiches we've ever had. The batch was obviously grossly overdone as it even appeared as if was beef. We have eaten there multiple times and most always found the pulled pork, juicy, tasty and the blonde color you expect. This experience would warrant a " we never will come back here again" but I hesitate to condemn it for only one very bad meal. So we do take out UCL lunch or dinner takeout the ribs are always great. I highly recommend all of their sides. I think their sides are the best in town. My friend and I wanted barbecue for dinner and this was close. We got there around 8 PM and there were plenty of seats available. Our waiter greeted us very quickly and he was super nice. My friend is talkative so they were talking for a little while. He gave us some good recommendations. We got the chili with Fritos for appetizer. I got the barbecue tacos and my friend got the chicken sandwich. The barbecue tacos were a very good portion and will definitely fill you up. The side corn that I got wasn't to my liking Because it was too citrusy. I tasted my friend's chicken sandwich and it was good but she didn't like it because the sauce was too tangy. We both thought the chili with Fritos was very good.. She also got a cocktail that tasted like licorice so we both weren't very fond of it. Price was on the higher side, but still not bad. I went in on a Tuesday to place a to-go order for lunch. Now, I will admit I am an absolute BBQ snob. Having moved to the area from Texas just about a year ago, I have been searching for even a decent BBQ place to no avail. The menu here looked good and I figured I'd give it a a shot. I ordered the two meat plate (brisket and jalapeño-cheddar sausage) with Mac and cheese and fries as well as a half slab of ribs. The total was a little over $50. The first thing I thought was if you're going to charge near Terry Black's prices, it better be near Terry Black's quality. It wasn't. Not even close. Not even in the same Solar System as any of the quality central Texas BBQ places you hear so much about. If you're familiar with Texas BBQ restaurants, I'd list a chain like Pappas BBQ as significantly better than here. The pros: the fries were excellent even if a little soggy (due to being a to go order not the fault of the restaurant). The service was great. The house made pickles were very good. The ribs were palatable albeit not very seasoned. That's the list. The cons: overpriced. The sausage looked like hot dogs and tasted similar. The brisket was dry; think leather in texture. The Mac and cheese was absolutely flavorless. I understand they are doing their own thing and may not want to be like Texas BBQ but it would be insulting to compare this place to the quality restaurants in St. Louis, Memphis, Kansas City, the Carolinas or anywhere else doing their thing in the Bbq scene. Honestly, the food was amazing. The cornbread was absolutely stellar, some of the best I've had in ages. Better than Mom's (and I'm from the South... this is high praise.) Went in with high expectations, however things hit a slippery slope. Young girl who was our server was very courteous, friendly, and the highlight of the night. Ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees, all came out at once in less than 10 minutes. Appetizer was the better of all three. I ordered one of their Bowls, very heavy on the diced fried potatoes, crispy onion, bacon, however, the chopped brisket was no more than 4oz. No color to the dish just brown. I understand brisket is expensive right now, but it is disheartening when you have to search for your protein. Wife had a loaded baked potato. If it going to be called a loaded potato, load it up. Hers was the potato (al dente), 1oz cheese melted on the bottom, and a whole chicken breast in the middle. Had to request for a little extra (2oz bacon, 2oz scallions) to consider it loaded, and I am sure that added on to the bill. In total with a beer, it was $60. Not worth the price. Now we have both been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years, me as a trained and certified chef, she in the FOH. Personally, I would focus on doing BBQ and doing it well and then focus on the elevated part. Kitchen could use some professional guidance on presentation because this meal was very lackluster. Elevated Q is a regular go-to for us, at least once a week, and we always sit in the bar area. While the food can be inconsistent, the cocktails are outstanding and the current service team is the best it's been. In particular, Rosa and Cody are awesome at their jobs. Elevated Q is a great barbecue place that's a bit more upscale than a typical barbecue joint. Good selection of quality food with some things not normally found in a barbecue place. I had a barbecue bowl with burnt ends for its meat. The bowl was anchored in a penne pasta. It was great. My wife had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes which she felt were a bit mushy. Even at that, she wants to return for a different choice of meal. Service was attentive and our waitress offered excellent suggestions when asked. The atmosphere is casual and the drinks were good. It was OK. I had the two meat plate with pulled pork, brisket, green beans, and loaded smashed potatoes. It seemed as if the pork had been pulled a while ago. The bark was soft. I don't think that it had been sitting in a steam table, but there was added moisture, I think. First off, a shout out to our server, Elle. She did a great job waiting on us! We had two toddlers with us and we were also celebrating an adult birthday, and she really took good care of all of us. The food was really good! We shared wings, loaded fries, a platter of turkey and brisket. I recommend all of them! They also had a good kids meal so we were all happy. We ate here on a Friday night at 6pm. The patio was busy, but there were only 4 tables inside with people. Overall, I will say the service was SLOW and played a big factor into my rating. We got there just in time for happy hour. We waited for at least 10 minutes for the server to even acknowledge us. The meat on my dish was really good! The pork was nice and tender with good flavor. The Turkey was also tender - although not a lot of smoked flavor to it. The platter comes with 2 sauces. I couldn't choose, so I ordered the flight ($2) to try them all. The sauces were great! I liked all of them. The reaper sauce was spicy, but not so overpowering it burned your whole mouth. The mashed potatoes lacked flavor and I didn't really taste anything cheesy or bacon-y about them. The Mac and cheese was also very bland. The piece of bread with the meal was a sub par too- only toaster on one side (barely) My husband had really bad reviews of the wings. They were not crunchy at all. We tried them with the smoked rub. There was hardly any seasoning on the outsides of them. My husband is the kind of guy who would typically say they aren't that great, but still eat because he literally hates to waste food. He only ate 5 of the 12. The potato salad (his side) was lackluster. Overall, I may give them another try with different sides and a different server.
