Always a welcoming place, we enjoy a quick and casual meal at a very reasonable price. The sign at the door says it all. And bribe me it's not just word, it' practice both on the customer side of the counter as well as the staff side too. As for freshness and quality of the food on the top sign, that's true too. I think the last item to be true but no way to check.locally founded and still locally owned. Locations are convenient and clean though sometimes in summer on the crowds on the patio, often with high school and college students packed, it can be tough for them to maintain perfection. Pete's always seems to be the right vibe. The staff are always really cool and friendly. They must hear the same questions a thousand times a night but always helpful and fun. Really great addition to south boulder. Really want to love this place but candidly food is average. I think that's a general comment for all illegal Pete's versus any problems with this one. The ambience and space is great. I ordered the fish tacos and they were just ok and took a long time to make. The fish wasn't super flavorful more was the coating crispy. Kind of a bummer as I had to wait about ten minutes to order due to three line and then probably 12 minutes of wait time after my order (they do indicate that fish tacos take longer than other Items. I will return because it's close to me but not going to be my favorite. read more

We held our staff holiday party at this Illegal Pete's location and their team did an awesome job making sure our spread looked beautiful. They were flexible with me, and allowed me to setup some flowers and signage ahead of the event. Now, I know what you might be thinking. You had a party? At Illegal Pete's? Yes. It's true. We locked down a section of the restaurant and bar (there's a bar! tell your friends!) by reserving a select number of tables and we did a buffet line. It went so smoothly. Maybe the cleanest restaurant I've EVER been in. However, burrito was quite a bit smaller than competition, and the carnitas was maybe the DRIEST meat I've ever had served to me. After a really bad food poisoning incident from the Pearl location, I'd not eaten at Pete's for years. Wanted to try it again, as I have fond memories from college. It's okay, it's not what it once was. Not a lot of flavor. Pretty on par with the competition. Wanted to like it more. I guess once you scale up and grow, quality suffers. Staff is fine. Atmosphere is the best thing about this location. And if you like alcohol you're in luck; full bar! Average and expensive. read more
