Ask the Community - Lot Que

After reading the reviews I'm very hesitant to try? I just here from Austin Texas so you have some big expectations on my part to fill. If you need sauce and beer to eat brisket, you failed.

Dean - I'd love to get your perspective on our BBQ. We are dealing with a very limited set of mouths for our reviews. I can tell you the verbal reviews I have received have been all 4 and 5 stars. When are you coming by? I will make myself… Read more

It's in a strip mall and the windows are completely covered in ads and their logo. If it were my place I'd at least leave a panel open so people can see inside and catch a vibe, but that's just me. Service style is a little odd. You order up front, they hit you with the tip screen, then you go find a seat. The "server" is more of a food runner and busser, which kind of takes away from the whole experience. Not a deal breaker, just not my favorite setup. Now the food. The smoked wings were unreal. Easy 10 out of 10 and honestly might be top five wings I've had, and I've put in serious work on wings over the years. The brisket sandwich though... rough. Super dry. No fat, no juice, just straight meat. Then it's thrown on two thick buns with nothing else going on. No slaw, no pickles, nothing. You can add their house BBQ sauce but even that couldn't save it. I hate wasting food but I ate about half and had to call it.Mac and cheese was solid. Nothing crazy but definitely not bad either. If I come back it's for beer and wings at the bar, no question. Other than that, there's better BBQ around.

Love the welcoming, casual, and authentic BBQ atmosphere along with everything else this place offers! I don't know if you can go wrong with how you order but my favorite is to get Dave's Smokin Platter which can come with one meat ($18), two meats ($22), or three meats ($26)! Any of these come with choice of two sides and cornbread. My go-to's are the brisket and pulled pork for the meats and fried okra, red beans and rice, or baked beans for the sides! If you are a first timer and want to try several meats- the Pitmaster sandwich ($16.25) is a great option as it comes with brisket, pulled pork, and jalapeño cheddar sausage!

The Cajun rub is good, but the buffalo is where it is at. I had 5 Cajun and 45 buffalo wings, and a sweet tea. The Cajun rub hides the smoke flavor of the wings, but the buffalo lets the smoke flavor shine. And they provide ranch or blue cheese for free with your wings. I cannot speak for the ranch, but the blue cheese is thick and chunky and perfect for wing dipping. The staff were all super friendly, answering all of my questions and providing me with a large cup of their blackberry BBQ sauce to sample. That blackberry BBQ sauce should be available for purchase, as it is amazing. They also kept my sweet tea refilled. I really appreciate having a very large glass of sweet tea; most places use very small glasses. The restrooms were clean without any annoying smells. The only negative I would say is the comfort of the chairs, hard wooden chairs. I will definitely be returning for more outstanding food and friendly service.

Close to Lookout Mountain, this is a great stop! Five stars across the board!…read more Food: was fantastic - between the 4 of us, we tried the brisket sandwich (tender and delicious with the pickles and picked red onions), pork ribs (meaty, flavorful and tender, my son's favorite), pulled pork on nachos (tasty and fresh). Had to have a Coors Light while in Golden, CO! Sides of Mac and cheese, baked beans, vinegar Cole slaw and potato salad were all freshly made, clean tasting, and added quality to each meal! Service: attentive and hospitable. You order at the counter and they bring out the trays from the kitchen. Every member was knowledgeable in explaining the multiple sauces and went out of the way to attend to every question or request. Love the casual vibes, from picking up your own utensils to cleaning up your own trays. Excellent service. And they were appreciative of our patronage. Ambiance: clean restaurant all around, cool casual vibes with a great outdoor patio side facing the sun and mountains. Well worth the stop, best bbq in Golden CO, indeed! 5

Stairmaster to Heaven (The BBQ Kind) They say distance makes…read morethe heart grow fonder, but in this case, a 30-minute drive and a second-story climb mostly just made us hungry. We were strongly motivated by a lunch date with our daughter and her husband, and apparently, the 'Seasoned Swine' experience starts with a mandatory pre-meal cardio session. If you aren't ready to hit the stairs, you aren't ready for the Swine. The Atmosphere (2 Stars): It's a bit like a sports bar that forgot to buy the TVs. Plenty of high-top tables to perched upon, and a bathroom door that refuses to close--perfect for those who enjoy a 'communal' dining experience in every sense of the word. The Service (3 Stars): Standard 'pay-to-play' setup. You order at the register, pay upfront, and hope for the best. Functional, but don't expect a candlelit serenade. The Food (5 Stars): This is where the magic happens. Three of us tackled the 'Swinoceros' plate--a meat-sweat-inducing mountain of the menu's highlights--while our fourth went for the pulled pork 'sammie.' The Candied Ribs: Out of this world. I'm pretty sure these are illegal in several states. Absolute perfection. The Burnt Ends: Moist, flavorful, and worth the drive alone. The Supporting Cast: The pulled pork, sliced turkey, brisket, and jalapeño cheddar sausage were all good. Even the sides--the OC Mac and Cheese and baked beans--were terrific. The Rolls: The three sweet rolls were... well, they were rolls. They were there. The Verdict: If you can survive the stairs, the awkward bathroom situation, and the DIY service, the food is a total knockout. I came for the family, but I'd stay for those candied ribs.

The restaurant is only open Friday and Saturday 11am - 3 pm. This is a very popular spot amongst local, so get here as soon as it opens. We arrived around 11:30 am and there was already a long line that formed. It can take awhile to get to the front, but it's definitely worth the wait! We ordered the ribs and the brisket with mashed potatoes, beans and mac n cheese. We also ordered candied pork belly (not in the attached image). I believe the ribs and brisket are their popular options. Both were very flavorful. The ribs fell right off the bone. The brisket was juicy and tender. However, the candied pork belly was definitely an underdog. It was my favorite meat because it had that sweet and very rich barbecue flavor which made every bite so dreamy. For the sides, I didn't really find any over-the-top, but they were decent. Maybe the mac n cheese was a bit on the dry side, but still really good to pair with the barbecue.

You order at the counter like you would at a true Texas BBQ, and the line moves quickly. Inside, it's large tables with bench seating where you'll share tables with other BBQ fans.
