Haven't had a burger & fries this good in ages. We got the Wag Burger, and it's a great combination of their special sauce, cheese & onions on the burger. Generous with the fries portion too. Very reasonably priced. read more

Me, my husband and a couple friends who frequently visit wags, visited Friday night. Our bartender Jen was extremely inattentive. We sat at the bar top and on 2 occasions waited over 15minutes to get served. She disappeared once or twice or was busy talking to other people, it was hard to get her attention. We ended up leaving after 2 drinks and opted to go somewhere else instead. I understand it was a Friday night and it was a little busy, but with 2 bartenders (one of which wouldn't serve us because she said we were Jen's customers) and a server in such a small establishment, you shouldn't have to wait 15+ minutes to get served. She was nice, and friendly but I wouldn't go back if she was bartending. read more

Love the environment, where it's down stairs, below the competition. ;-) Burger was good, chicken salad wrap was good. Staff were friendly. Fries are cut fresh there. Definitely something to check out if looking for something different. read more

Stopped in just before 5:00 pm on a recent Friday and it was already packed but we were able to get a table. We planned to order a burger, but because we had a heavier lunch decided to go lighter. Got a baby chef salad with ham. It was huge and delicious. I'd order it again. By the time we left, there was a line of customers out the door waiting for a table. Need to go back earlier in the day on a day off to get a burger. read more

I love Wags food, that's why on June 15th around 9:00 pm I stopped by and sat at the bar, however the two girls never acknowledged I was even there. No, hello, be right with just working and walking around me. After 10 minutes, I decided I would just leave. The place wasn't that busy at that time. I was craving a WAGS burger. read more

A Frederick classic. Cheap beer and good burgers. The fries are hands down my favorite part. Clearly made in house, a huge portion to share, and salted to perfection! There's an endless lists of sandwiches that'll take a lifetime to go thorough, I'm sure there will be an edit to follow as I work my way through the extensive list! read more

Super cool dive bar with the best late night food. There's seriously no better place for a late night beer and burger than Wag's. I had a cheeseburger and the chili fries. The cheeseburger was decent but the chili fries blew me away. They were super good and the chili was flavorful. They came with lots of melted cheese. Overall I highly recommend this spot! read more

This place,TERRIBLE! 100% TOTAL thumbs down. The menu looked good but our food arrived BARELY room temperature. The ladies at the bar are friendly but mixed drinks are not their thing. If you're not drinking bottled beer expect less than mediocre. Here's the deal breaker, there are several older guys hanging at the bar, clearly "wags regulars" completely wasted stinking drunk and still being served. They made sitting at the bar VERY uncomfortable. The ladies knew the guys by their first names. I'm not sure if they're employees but one was filling ice and the other was wiping down tables. One of the guys made reference to the crowd in town since it was Pride Day in Frederick, he stated that you couldn't "swing a dead cat without hitting a homo" real classy place. Tall heavier woman with curly wavy blonde hair, pouring drinks for herself and her friends said she was done with all the "freaks" in town. A lot of randomness going on. The whole scene seemed unsanitary for a place that serves food. If you're interested in a total dive bar to waste your money on bad drinks and bad food this is your bar. My suggestion to you would be, KEEP WALKING. Fredericks downtown bar and restaurant scene has so many better choices to choose from. read more

Had not to Wags since 1990. Hasn't changed which is a good thing. Our server was great and I ordered the Wags Roast Beef. My wife ordered a corn beef sandwich and we shared an order of fries. The sandwiches were great as was the fries. It was as good as I remembered. Will go again. read more

The best Burger in Frederick hands down. Great batch of fries and a beer will put you in a true happy place!! The original that others try to emulate. Not even close!! Great service in a true land mark bar!!! read more

I have eaten at Wags for years, but just finally getting around to posting a review. Wags is consistently voted the best burger in town. I wholeheartedly agree. The burgers are great, but best when paired with a big batch of cheese fries. Together... an outstanding meal. The restaurant itself is small and old. It looks just the same today as it did 30 years ago (although there was once a dartboard in the back). The staff are always helpful, efficient, and friendly. Wags is a Frederick original. If you haven't been... you should. If you are just passing through... don't miss it! read more

I'm an American... which means I expect there to be a Starbucks in every 3-4 mile radius. I prefer my entrees to have at least two types of meat in them and I struggle between cleaning my house, getting a fleet of Roombas to do it, or hiring help. Being an American, I also grew up eating burgers. Whether they were from fast food restaurants, backyard barbecues, chain restaurants, or fancy local chains like hamburger hamlet (RIP.. The Hamlet). Now, not every burger is made equally. And I feel that you must rank burgers based on the categories that they are in. If I was served a greasy spoon burger in a fancy restaurant, things could go awry pretty quickly. So I've put together a chart of burger categories for all to reference. Fast Food Burger: Wendys, Mcdonalds, Burger King Fast Casual Burger: Five Guys, BurgerFi, Bobbys Burger Palace, BGR Greasy Spoon Burger: Sunshine General Store, Quarry House, (Wags Restaurant- fits in here) Restaurant Burger: Ruby Tuesday's, Fuddruckers, Cheeburger Cheeburger Pretentious Burger: Food & Wine Co, The Classics, Urban Butcher So, I'm putting the bar for Wags at Greasy Spoon Burger cause. A) This place is in a basement B) They say they have the best burgers in town (indicative of the category) C) It is one of the main features on the menu D) It's flipping delicious I would have to say that some of the best burgers come from the Greasy Spoon category. *I know that the burger was cooked on a grill that 100 other things are cooked on ( that's the secret flavor) *I know that my burger is only meat inside. Maybe some spices... but it's nothin' fancy. There are surely no eggs or breadcrumbs. Get the heck out of here. *It's just a single or couple of solid all angus patties that are covered in American cheese and bacon and served with a bunch of fixins. *I don't know what mayo brand that is... but it's freakin' delicious *The service was amazing- she was perfectly attentive *Weird Extra Points- I was working on my laptop, and it was perfectly dark enough in the bar to do so. If you want to drink in a place that harks of yesteryear. We're talking large mirrored walls surrounded by dark wood frames, low hanging drop down ceiling, and a long paneled bar. A place that could easily be featured on Diners Drive In's and Dives. A place that welcomes everyone and anyone. Eat here. You won't regret it. read more

My all time fav burgers. They don't win awards for no reason!! My favorite is the wags burger. Perfectly cooked with their special sauce. They way they cut their lettuce is so perfect too, it's like thin slivers of lettuce. BUTT their BUNS (hAHa) are my favorite part of the burger. They are so soft and light! If it were up to me, every burger in the world should have this bun. You don't feel the carb overload with these buns. Sour cream burger is a solid choice as well. Sometimes it gets busy and packed in there but the servers will get to you eventually. Cheap drinks and 75 cent beers on certain days also which is amazing. read more

Wag's Restaurant - Bottom two burgers are the way and sour cream burger. Can't remember what the top burger was. Fries were wayy too much for us 3. - Burgers Near Me - Frederick, Maryland

Want an upscale, hipster bar with prissy food? Don't come here. Wags is, as they put it "8 steps below the competition". They're in a basement on Market street. It's a small place, a bit of a dive, but full of personality. They serve delicious comfort food with friendly service. Happy Hour is available at tables or at the bar and they also have a Happy Hour late Friday night and one on Saturday. Their prices are reasonable, and if you come during a happy hour, get there right when it starts or expect to wait for a seat. If you want a juicy burger, heart attack on a plate chili/cheese/bacon fries or a great bowl of chili, then Wags is your spot. read more

Terrible customer service, if I could give this place less than a 1 I'd give it a -10. I went in to get a drink with my boyfriend and the slimmer blonde lady was a total b!tch. She basically cussed me out, and slammed my drinks in my face because I left an average tip the time before. She should be fired. Completely ridiculous and I will spread the word of this terrible unfriendly business. I'm shocked I've never had worse service IN MY LIFE. read more

I wouldn't say it's the best burger in town as they claim, but it's pretty good. I will say that the French fries were excellent though. I immediately got a seat, and was waited on promptly. My food came out quickly as well. I'd say the best deal is the alcohol; there seems to be all kinds of deals going on for booze, so I'll probably come back for that. This time I got a "buy one get one free" on beer. The place was clean, and the environment was really friendly. Music wasn't too loud; I don't think I even noticed it, which is a good thing for this type of place. I was with a friend who is from a more rural part of the states, and he said he felt quite at home. So for this place, I'd rate it a solid 4/5 and I'll be sure to come back, mainly for the drink deals, but the food was good enough to where I'd consider trying out other stuff on the menu and don't think I'll be disappointed. read more

Wag's Restaurant - Burgers Near Me - Frederick, Maryland

We went here with friends when passing through on a Saturday night. Luckily the wait for a table wasn't long (which is one of the reasons we went here with our toddler), but the wait for food was quite a while. The waitress was able to provide some crackers for our little one right away, which quelled the brewing storm.. But then once the food did come out? It turns out our compassionate waitress had somehow forgotten to put in the little one's grilled cheese order. Seriously? Luckily our daughter is big enough she was able to get by with some of our fries to start out. Speaking of the fries. They were pretty darn good. We got one big order for our table of four and a half to share, and they came out as a perfect appetizer just shortly before our burgers. All in all, it isn't somewhere we would've found if we weren't with locals, but it was a good time - glad there was someone to show us the way! Oh, and P.S.? Boys are Pointers and Girls are Setters, if you need to use the restroom... read more

Stopped by for a late lunch. Matt C's tip about the chili cheese burger convinced me. I had mine with cheddar and a pile of fries. Food was great, burger cooked perfectly, the fries reminded me of home made, just like I like them. It wasn't crowded and the service was great.
