When I come to the Carolinas I gotta hit the Waffle House ! I was staying in Cherry Grove and made the drive to this location on September 22nd. My waitress was very friendly and took care of me right away. I sat at the counter for the full experience of watching the cooks and the rest of the staff do their thing. Both the cooks were busy , but seemed to be in good spirits. Only one of the waitresses seemed a little unhappy , but she did refill my coffee once when mine was busy ringing customers up. I of course got the All Star Special. For the meat I got Country Ham and it was huge and so good. A lot of others were ordering it that day too. Waffle was perfectly cooked with melting butter and good syrup. Grits were thick and tasty the way I like them , scrambled eggs cooked right not overcooked and a good amount of them , toast with strawberry jam , and coffee to top it off. I haven't been to a bad Waffle House , but I've heard of some. I went once to a bad Huddle House , never again. No fights that day either , ha ha. I think everyone was fat and happy with their meal. I've been to several locations in the Carolinas and the staff always seems to be happy and attentive unlike many restaurants now days especially fast food. This is good food fast. My son and I went to one in Fayetteville , NC years ago for lunch and the burgers were really good too. First time at a Waffle House and it was an experience. Tiny on the inside and you get watch the waitresses yell the order at the cooks. Always a good feeling when you get to walk the line cooks cook. Waffle was light and fluffy but not floppy. Their brand butter melted perfectly into the waffle. The bowl was super filing and was a good price. Eggs were cooked too uneven. Some of it was well done and other bites were runny. All the workers were very polite and attentive. I would absolutely stop at another Waffle House on a road trip again. read more

On Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, I stopped at this Waffle House in Little River on my drive down to Myrtle Beach from Wilmington. I like this chain of restaurants. I've had them in Georgia and Colorado. For my late breakfast, I ordered a hash-browns plate with cheddar cheese, grilled onions, mushrooms, and diced tomatoes. I thought it tasted delicious. In my opinion, I think Waffle House has the best hash-browns after Cracker Barrel out of any chain restaurant. In addition, I ordered one regular waffle. Like the name of the restaurant suggests, this place is known for its waffles. The service was excellent with my water and coffee being refilled continuously. The dining room interior is that of an old diner, like the other Waffle Houses. If someone never tried Waffle House, I'd highly recommend one to try it. It's far tastier than Denny's nowadays. It's also an upgrade from the standard fast food restaurants as well. Most chain restaurants don't even serve waffles, so this place is special. read more

My group walked in and sat down almost immediately BUT after awhile of not being helped I decided to start the timer on my iPhone. Seventeen additional minutes, after making eye contact with each staff member, not a single person came over to ask us for drinks, our order, nothing. So I'm leaving and I'm annoyed. My family and I just left this Waffle House severely disappointed. Not because of the food (...if it were the food, I would have at least given them 2 stars). If I could give this restaurant 6 stars would give it 5! My friends and I had just decided to eat at the Affle house before our trip back home. Our waitress was Cindy who told us she moonlights as a produce expert at the 24 hour dollar general on US 17 and they they just received a shipment of the freshest Alaskan cucumbers. I ate the smashmouth Allstar breakfast with sausage eggs and a bowl of my favorite cereal: Kellogg's ogre o's with whole goat milk. I was very happy there was a juke box behind our table. But for this to be the only location in the area that doesn't allow you to sub toast for a biscuit or grits for hash browns due too the manager saying it messes up her food cost . This was my first time going to a Waffle House and I got hashbrowns and a grilled cheese that had sausage and bacon on it. It was really underwhelming. The hashbrowns were cooked only on one side, leaving the rest feeling like ramen rather than crisp golden brown hashbrowns. And the bacon was super chewy, so either really fatty or undercooked. Maybe I just got a bad Waffle House or bad staff or ordered the wrong items off the menu, but I was not one bit impressed. The Waffle House reminds me of The Rocky House Picture Show, I am pretty sure it would be much better after midnight and a few libations. As a midday lunch experience, sober and in the cold light of day, it is at best mediocre. This was the one occasion where the reality did not meet expectations. I usually call in my orders and it's waiting there for me when I arrive, the people that work there are extremely friendly and the food is always consistent and good.
