Put the diapers by the condoms... So people will make good decisions and understand the consequences....
    Ben A.

... and it's all over. My daughter convinced me that she wanted panda express, and with a vague memory that there was one inside the store, we ventured over. It's been years since I've been in here. So long that I forgot I reviewed this on yelp at 11 years ago Interestingly, James T., the affable checker is still here. It looks older, maybe more experienced, but he's still a kind soul. Unfortunately, panda express has shuttered here. There's a little sign that says visit our store at the San Diego Mall. They didn't bother to publish... After you park half a mile away and then wander in, almost getting hit several times in the parking lot, and maybe run over by hoodlum teenagers riding motorbikes through the actual mall proper. But I guess that wasn't that much room on the sign. The rest of the store looks like one of the markets in Handmaid's Tale: bizarre, non-natural lighting, high prices, disguised as sale prices, and an eclectic mix of time honored brands, and "what the hell is this?" stuff you've never heard of. As we shook our heads in disgust at the panda express empty stall, we walked by the hot food deli, and the lady yelled at me. We only have chicken. I didn't ask. I didn't even suggest I wanted to check in. I didn't even think I wanted chicken, which eliminates the possibility that she's psychic. Anyway, we wandered out of the store with that same sinking feeling you got high school or college as you're walking away from someone that just dumped you. Ostensibly, you'll feel better later... But for the time being, it hurts a little bit. Especially knowing that you're not ever coming back.

I have been shopping at this store since it first opened, and I've never seen it in the condition it was in today. A few weeks ago, I called and spoke with the new store manager, Russ, to let him know that the floors were extremely dirty especially in the produce department, the self-checkout area, and the south entrance. He told me he was the new manager and asked me to give him a couple of weeks to get things under control. Unfortunately, very little has changed. With the exception of one early Monday morning visit, the floors have continued to be dirty, no normal traffic just uncleaned dirty. Today, the condition was so poor that it actually made me uncomfortable shopping there. I asked to speak with Russ. When he came to Customer Service, he didn't greet me or ask how he could help. Instead, he simply said what do you need. I reminded him of our previous conversation and explained that the store was still consistently dirty. His immediate response was, "So you're telling me I'm doing a bad job?" I replied that, as the store manager responsible for the overall condition of the store, I felt he he was doing a poor job. He then blamed it on the holiday weekend. I explained that I've shopped at this location through countless holiday weekends over the decades, and I have never seen the store this dirty. Additionally, the former store managers never let customers shuck corn in the store because it was a safety hazard with all the corn husks on the floor. Now there is a cardboard box overflowing with corn husk and the husks are all over the entire store floor, an accident waiting to happen. What disappointed me most wasn't just the condition of the store it was the lack of accountability and customer service. Rather than acknowledging the concern or assuring me it would be addressed, I was met with defensiveness and excuses. A grocery store should be clean, especially in areas where fresh food is sold. The consistently dirty floors at the entrances, in produce, self-checkout, and throughout much of the store create a poor shopping experience and leave a negative impression. I will be contacting corporate to share my concerns because this location has historically been well-managed, and I hope it can return to the standards customers have come to expect. I have a lot more photos to share with corporate.

It is not easy to get the pedialyte from the locked shelf
    May C.

You won't believe it. It took me more than 30 mins to get a bottle of pedialyte from aisle 7. First, I asked the pharmacy department, I think the calling button on the shelf is not working or out of battery. The staff at the flower department helped me called for help. After 5mins, I asked the Casher and he helped me called for help again. Still no one show up. At the end, I asked the customer service department, they called again. Finally someone came and helped me open the shelf. Woowowowow!!!!! What an experience!!! I think Vons really needs to do something to improve their customer service. I been to CVS and asked to get something from the locked shelf many times. They are very efficient, even when they are very busy. Hopefully the manager can read this review. .

    Stumbled on 50% off wine
    Eric U.

Made a quick pit stop at Vons to grab an 8-piece fried chicken meal, with coleslaw and a 4-pack of Hawaiian rolls (hey, no judgment...sometimes you just need that perfect low-key comfort food!). The meal was hot and ready. But there was unexpected bonus: a walk over to the wine area revealed dozens of red tags and 50% off a wide selection of wines. As someone who isn't a regular wine drinker but likes to keep a few bottles handy to avoid going to friends' homes empty-handed, this was a no brainer. This Vons is a reliable spot. Good deli counter, Panda Express, and Starbucks with a chill little hang out spot to go over you grocery game plan in peace.

    Service Dogs required leashes.
    Kathy T.

This store allows a man to parade around the store with a very huge dog without a leash. I have seen this man and dog in the store several times. It is obvious that this man thrives seeking attention from others by displaying his dog through out the store. The owner is not disable; he looks like he lives at the gym to workout. So he is capable of holding a leash. In California, dogs (even Service Dogs) are required to be on a leash when out in public. Vons is not protecting their other customers who they may be putting at risk if this dog decides to bite or attack someone. A sudden move or noise could cause any dog to bite or attack; especially if the dog feels threaten or need to protect owner. Again, the dog is not on a leash. I avoid being in the same area where the dog is. Not a good shopping experience. I have not seen the man actually purchase groceries; maybe he does after I exit the store. I spoke to the Manager, Russ, and it seems like he is okay with losing customers instead of providing the legal "duty of care". I called Corporate and they did not seem to care. So I am documenting this on Yelp to put Vons on notice. It is the law for the dog to be on a leash. Vons is not protecting its customers. VONS HAS THE LEGAL DUTY TO PROVIDE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. Picture below is not the dog in the store but looks like similar breed and the dog in the store is taller than one in the picture.

Recently ordered a cake from this location and did not meet my expectations. I usually order from the montebello location but now live closer to this one. The printing on the edible image I sent in was black and white but it came out looking green. I also had inspiration for writing with piping instead was added in text on the edible image. I would have preferred to pick my own font and sizing they said they would call me once they received the inspiration through email but did not. Cake tasted good but would not order anything special from this location again.

Went on Sunday 3/15 at around 11:00 AM past the self checkout and the price listed after discount was higher than the price it was supposed to be on the shelf. I input my rewards information and the discount didn't apply. As the checkout area staff was passing by, I flagged down Karen for some help. It was my first and only time asking for help today and she told me extremely rudely that I need to be patient and can't I see that she has other things to do? Firstly, I waited patiently for the other customer to be helped and now the self checkout area is empty. Secondly, half the time the cashier staff are just standing around chatting. Thirdly, you can just tell me to wait a moment; there is no need to tell someone who was waiting patiently and wants to ask a question that they need to be more patient... but this is not odd treatment - Everytime I shop at this location I see Karen or another cashier staff being extremely rude. Never any greetings when they are your cashier. No hi no thank yous.

Vons is Vons but I love and give this one 5 stars for the Asian selection in the store. Lots of things I hadn't seen (many I had). I just appreciated the assimilation to the neighborhood and area it's in. It's a really big store tho, and they had a pretty good clearance section I got some good deals in. It's not too far from me, and a good excuse to go to No 1 express lol.

I bought this octopus toy at Vons, Arcadia. This is the best service, I would like to express my appreciation to Staff.

Review #904 2025-#078…read more I discovered Good Fortune Supermarket because it shares parking with Yi Mei (refer to Review #903). I had some time to kill before having brunch with my brother, so my son & I browsed the supermarket to see if there's any goods that are interesting or a good deal. The market is well-stocked & organized, but the floors are dingy & screams for a deep clean. Yikes! Though the items on the shelves look like there's been turnaround since they're not dusty. Whew! =) Its offerings are similar to the local Asian markets, with a little less variety at slightly higher prices. The fresh fruits were absurdly pricey IMO, but there were a few "sales" though they're still higher than regular pricing elsewhere. Since we're over an hour from home, I only picked up some snacks like roasted peanuts (I love the Farmer Brand!), fermented hawthorn, & some biscuits. The cashiers were friendly... asked if I found everything I needed, & also greeted my son & asked if hawthorn is his favorite treat. While I didn't have any 好運氣 (good fortune) in finding any deals, I get some yummy treats for my 6 YO to nosh on while waiting for my brother. I prefer the Main St. location in Alhambra, but they've been temporarily closed since 09/2024; I usually shop there when I'm in the area because of the eateries nearby. I don't think I'll be making any return trips unless I'm dining next door.
