    Avocado toast
    Jenny T.

This restaurant is inside the Omni Hotel and is very picturesque. It was a Thursday morning when I came for breakfast, and it wasn't too busy at all. I was able to get seated right away. Food: I got the avocado toast for breakfast. It was pretty good. The ratio of bread to avocado to toppings was great. The poached egg was cooked perfectly. It would be something I would order again from here. Service: Service was left to be desired. I think they were understaffed today, but I had to wait a decent amount of time to be served given that it wasn't too busy. I wasn't in a rush so it wasn't too much of an issue. It seemed as though my server was being more attentive to the larger parties. TL;DR - good breakfast in a nice setting, service could be better

For a special birthday occasion, I decided to reach deep into my savings and visit this prestigious institution for brunch. My oh my, this was the fanciest brunch of my life. From the food to the service to the decor (my god, the decor), everything just felt immaculate. Is this what it feels to be part of royalty? Sunday Brunch is held every week in the very impressive, very grand Sovereign Ballroom at the luxurious Omni King Edward Hotel. If you've never been here, it's a real treat. Floor to ceiling ornate moulding, giant sparkling chandeliers, window-covered walls to let in all that natural sun. It's like stepping into a palace and reliving every childhood princess fantasy you ever had. If you remember to look down from the beautiful ceiling, you'll notice the Sunday brunch. The food is almost just as bougie as the decor but I'm happy to say it doesn't just look good, there's fantastic quality as well. Their signature Foie Gras Beef Wellington was perfectly medium rare with savoury foie-mushroom paste surrounding a juicy morsel of beef. The hand-carved lamb was so tender. Even the chicken, which by buffet standards are usually dryer than cardboard, was moist and flavourful. Happy to report their vegetarian selection was impressive as well. Massive table with multiple salads boasting ingredients like heirloom beets, roasted pear, and proscuitto. Next to it was an array of antipasto options, then pastry options. Another section was entirely dedicated to intricate desserts including fancy mini cakes, tarts, and whole pies. Fresh juice was served endlessly and coffee was poured out of a silver pot on the table. It was truly a feast for the eyes as much as it was for the mouth. Omni King Edward's Sunday brunch buffet is perfect. It's expensive, but not insanely so, for the quality and service. It's definitely more of a treat-yo-self moment unless your regular Sunday brunch includes getting serenaded by a live harp player. For the regular folk, a $60 buffet certainly warrants a special occasion, and Omni King definitely makes it special. There aren't a lot of places where you can get white-glove service, in a black-tie ballroom setting, while wearing jeans. (60/100) - 2019

Tried their signature afternoon tea with my friends on Saturday. We ordered vegetarian option called Garden which came with a pot of tea, many small savory and sweet pastries and scones. The food was very pretty, not to mention that they were all tasty. Selection of tea was huge. We ended up being stuffed at the end. Afternoon set was $75 per person which I think it was worthy. It was such a lovely experience.

My family and I went for the Nutcracker high tea special during December, which was $54 per set. The reason I say "per set" instead of "per person" is because for a group of 5 persons, we only ordered for four since we usually cannot finish everything. The waiter had absolutely no issue with us ordering for four instead of five. There is also no obligation for the fifth person to order something else off the menu in order share the food amongst everyone. Although you can order an additional teapot for $12. I've only had high tea a few times before so I'm not a connoisseur but this place was okay compared to the others. It's a 3.5 for me here. The food itself was average tasting. Perhaps the best was the chocolate yule log and fruitcake. The sandwiches were also served on plates instead of on the tower with the desserts so that was new for us. No fancy teapots here, as they are regular white teapots. The tea selection was pretty big and they had a good variety between fruity, flowery and classic black/green teas. The service was also average for a hotel.. In addition, the tea room itself felt like a regular restaurant and there were no fancy European furniture or hats like Windsor Arms. I mean experience itself is not bad but after having some really good high teas at other places, I can't see myself coming back here especially since the prices are comparable.

Have you ever had a dining experience and still thought about it weeks later? That is how we feel each time we visit Victoria's Restaurant. Located in the Sovereign Ballroom of the infamous Omni King Edward Hotel, the décor is truly exquisite with floor to ceiling windows and large teardrop chandeliers. It's a tradition for us to celebrate special occasions here, and we even stayed at this hotel for our first wedding anniversary. We arrived early to take pictures and were personally met by Olivier Pelletier-Bourbonnais and Bella Park (Food and Beverage). What a wonderful greeting as they welcomed us back, and congratulated us on our anniversary. We spoke briefly with the harpist who plays beautiful music, and my husband requested our wedding song. He does this each year - so sweet! Our server was very attentive, but not intrusive. I was at the juice stand, and he magically appeared and offered to bring our glasses back to our table. We were also surprised with complimentary champagne. We only drink alcohol during special occasions, so why not? I really enjoyed a few sips of perfectly chilled, fresh and bubbly, not too sweet or dry champagne! Cheers! The food is very well prepared with fresh ingredients, and the dishes are both creative and IG worthy. The service is impeccable, and nothing short of amazing. The staff and management team always makes us feel very special, welcomed and appreciated. Our brunch was truly memorable, and we look forward to a return visit very soon! Here is just a small list of our favorites! - Croissants: Flaky and buttery, perfect with a dollop of high quality jam local jam from Greaves. - Danishes: The blueberry and apricot are my favorites - Mango and Jicama Slaw with Ginger Lemon Dressing: If you have never tried Jicama (a cross between a water chestnut and an apple), it is divine! - Chilled Scallop and Shrimp Salad: The dressing is very light so the seafood remains the stars of this dish. - Poached Salmon: The salmon is always perfectly poached. - Nori Dusted Salmon with Cucumber Ketchup: This dish was new and very original, full of flavor without a strong fish taste. - White Wine Steamed PEI Mussels: The mussels are plumb and tender with just a hint of white wine and herbs. - Eggs Benedict: No brunch is complete without eggs benedict and Victoria's version does not disappoint. - Breakfast Bangers and Bacon: The bacon was extra crispy, just the way we like it. The bangers had a meaty texture and were not too fatty. - The King's Classic Beef Wellington with Red Wine Sauce: Irresistible, succulent and tender, cooked medium rare with a rich red wine sauce. - Venetian Chicken with Tarragon and Chervil: I'm always hesitant about chicken on a buffet, but Victoria's version is tender and moist, with just a hint of fresh herbs. - Cuban Style Pork, Grilled Pineapple and Dragon Fruit Salsa: The pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and I loved the pineapple and dragon fruit salsa! Dragon fruit is popping up everywhere, and I was happy to see it incorporated in several of the dishes, including the desserts! - Mushroom Agnolotti, Woodland Mushrooms, Peas and Arugula in Garlic Cream Sauce: The pasta was perfectly cooked. The sauce was smooth and creamy without being too garlicky. - Lemon Myrtle Salmon, Charred Lemon: The charred lemon added a subtle smoky flavor to the flaky salmon, which was again, perfectly cooked. - Passion Fruit Mousse Cake: Beautiful presentation, soft sponge cake with silky flavored-packed passion fruit mousse. - Tropical Fruit Crème Brûlée: Rich and smooth egg custard with a generous portion of fresh strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, dragon fruit and mango! - Gateau Basque with Rich Almond Filling: This is one of my favorite cakes. It has an intense almond flavor and is truly decadent. I feel transported to France with each bite. - Strawberry/Rhubarb Crumble: We loved the crunchy buttery crumble combined with strawberries and rhubarb. - Chocolate Espresso Mousse: Perfect for chocolate and coffee lovers. The mousse is smooth and creamy with a dark chocolate flavor enhanced by espresso. - Intense Chocolate Truffle Cake: When I dipped my fork into the cake, I immediately knew it was very fresh, the sponge was moist and tender. The chocolate truffle filling is intense and satisfying. The dark cocoa powder makes for a great finish and balances the sweetness. - Passion Fruit Tart with Meringue: Wow, a buttery short bread crust filled with generous thick, smooth and luxurious passion fruit curd. The meringue was the perfect topping. A very impressive dessert. CURRENT PRICE: $59.00 per person. Includes juice, coffee/tea

I've been to the King Edward a couple of times for their afternoon tea and although it's not bad, it's not the greatest either. We were seated in the Victoria restaurant, which is a rather dull dining space. When calling to book, ask if they are opening up the ballroom, as this is the nicest space to dine in. Make sure you're not in the lobby - it's drafty and cold in the winter and there's zero ambience because you're in a lobby! The table setting is very lovely with beautiful porcelain cups and saucers, silver strainer and our waitress even matched our sandwich plates to our cups. When we taken to our table, I noticed that the glasses of water were already pre-poured. This struck me as a touch lazy since usually the server comes, introduces themselves, distributes menus and fills up the water. All of my friends commented that the seats were a bit low. The tea selection only had a choice of 12 teas to choose from, all very standard and nothing particularly exciting. I hesitate to say "boring" since they are serving a traditional-style afternoon tea so this isn't the place to come if you're looking for something "adventurous" in terms of tea blends. A box of tea samples was presented to us to smell. Our table only ordered the King Edward blend (Ceylon black tea with jasmine and rose) and the Chai. The loose tea leaves were thrown in the pot and allowed to steep, but I don't think their water was hot enough for any of our black teas. All our teas came in identical white Wedgewood teapots that were so oddly finished and light that we thought they were plastic! The design of the teapots was dreadful as tea would pour out the top of the lid as well as through the spout. All of us ordered the King's Tea, which is their standard Afternoon Tea. They have a lighter option as well as a Children's version as well. The sandwiches were presented first and they were very tasty. There were 5 choices and all of them delicious. Then our server brought over a 3-tiered stand with scones and desserts. The scones were very good, though the texture of the raisin/currant scone was excellent! One of the tiny details I look for when I go out for High Tea is a separate utensil presented with the clotted cream or Devonshire cream for serving. Most places neglect this, but it makes the dining experience much nicer since you don't get cream all over the knife that you apply the fruit preserves with. I enjoyed all of the desserts, though none of them stood out as absolutely amazing. I would have liked if there was something light to finish off with, like some fresh fruit scattered on the 3-tiered stand. There was a half a strawberry as a garnish, which had been sliced so that each guest could have 1/4 of a strawberry. Overall the experience and setting were nice. This isn't my favourite place for Afternoon Tea in Toronto, but it's an acceptable venue if the Windsor Arms is fully booked and I want something more traditional than the Red Tea Box. Please note that they don't accept debit, ONLY credit cards and cash. Washrooms are located outside of the restaurant (in the hotel lobby). There is step-free access from the street and cloak room is available. Tea starts at 2:30, and my group of 4 booked for 3:30pm. Don't plan on staying longer than 5:30 because the staff will give you subtle hints to leave (such as leaving the bill on the table, cleaning up tables next to you and setting up or tomorrow's breakfast!).

So this is my 3.5 star review of their Afternoon Tea. My friend and I had a great time here but unlike other Yelpers we only had the option of sitting outside the restaurant. It's not that bad but being in the lobby with hotel guests walking about the lobby is distracting and I think it puts all the high tea guests somewhat on display. They have a number teas, each with its own brief description which makes it easier to know the differences between all of them. The teas come in fancy and lovely teapots that makes you want to stick that pinky out when you take a sip. My friend and I selected The King's Tea which came with a number of finger sandwiches and pastries. I have uploaded a snapshot of the menu for your reference. My favourite was the tarragon infused chicken finger sandwich, raspberry passion fruit trifle and molten chocolate cherry tartlet. The tartlet only had a slight cherry flavour which I prefer so I enjoyed it. The scones came with devonshire cream & strawberry preserves were good but I prefer the ones you get at the Windsor Arms - the devonshire cream is to die for. Service was good as the waiters came often to fill up our teapots when needed. I'd go back but would make the request to sit in the restaurant.

    Beautiful China and sandwiches. :)

Wonderful array of teas and delicious treats. Be prepared to come hungry and leave full! While the high tea is quite pricey it is delicious. The service is impeccable and be prepared to be waited on hand and foot. If you're planning a fun day in Toronto, I would highly recommend making a stop for high tea!
