I haven't been back to apricot tree in over 10 years and it's actually better than I remember. Decor is nice and upgraded since then. Uniquely, they have at least 3 HEPA air filters running and they proudly display their certification on the windows. Service was very friendly albeit a touch slow and forgetful. Food was adequate to slightly above average. Calamari looked like they pre-bought frozen calamari rings. Served with a sriracha creamy sauce and quite confusingly, ketchup. Should be a seafood cocktail sauce. Chicken tarragon crepe was delicious. Duck crepe was decent but the duck pieces were not spread out. Seafood dill was good. For all the crepes, the filling was generous but they cut all the pieces too big. All the crepes would have been better if the ingredients were all cut smaller. Looking around the restaurant, the portion sizes did appear generous. Overall, good experience and we will be back. read more

Went here for dinner for the first time though my family members have been multiple times and recommended. The food did not disappoint. I had the blackened salmon while my wife had the lamb shank. Both were excellent. Food seems to be always consistently good. The place was full on a Saturday evening. The inside decor is minimalist but soothing. They take pride in having excellent indoor air quality and website projects this with a live air quality index meter. The service was efficient without being overly enthusiastic. Perhaps the two servers seemed to be insufficient for a Saturday evening. We also had the shrimp for appetizer and banana split for dessert. read more

I ordered a Dobos Torte for my father as a gift and unfortunately what I picked up was nothing close. My father had ordered this cake from this cafe 15 or so years ago for a family event while it was under different management and he has been talking about it ever since. I was hoping to surprise him but unfortunately the cake not only did not resemble a Dobos Torte, but was actually quite inedible completely. The 3 layers were thick, dry crumbling cake that were way too strong in alcohol flavour and incredibly thick and hard layers of chocolate. The layer of caramel on top was also super thick and took a very sharp knife to get through. Overall none of us could really eat it, the textures and flavours were so off and honestly just bad. I hate to leave a poor review of any small business, but if a delicate dessert such as the one I ordered (which I understand takes a lot of skill) can't be delivered or made correctly please don't offer it! Very disappointing and a bit sad as I was excited to gift this cake to my dad and it just fell so short. read more

September 13/2023: Birthday Lunch with my Al. Very tasty meal. Have been here before but it's been several years ago. I didn't order an appie but went right for the main. I had the pork schnitzel ($24.00) with a mushroom sauce & fried potato's. The potato's we're supposed to be pan fried but they weren't. The pork schnitzel was good but I've had better. The mushroom sauce also just missed the mark. Our server Oscar was very friendly but I found the place a little snooty All the food was tasty but not enough to bring them to a 5* spot. It was my dining companion's birthday and he had heard good things about Apricot Tree Cafe, so we found ourselves walking through their doors just after 10:00 on a recent Saturday. I was intrigued by quite a few of their standard brunch offerings, but I eventually decided to go with the Quesadilla ("Chicken, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, roasted pepper mustard spread, tomatoes, red onion. Served with sour cream and salsa") and I decided to upgrade the included garden salad to a Caesar Salad. The food came out a short time later, and I immediately noticed I'd been given the garden salad. I pointed out the error and our server took the plate away. When he brought it back more than five minutes later, my quesadilla was no longer hot. I have to eat a warm quesadilla because you made a mistake? Anyway, it's fine. It's competently put together and the components are decent enough, though I will say the roasted pepper mustard spread is so strong it's pretty much all you wind up tasting. Ultimately this felt like something I could've made at home, which is the last thing you want from a meal at a restaurant. read more

Some regular favourites; most dishes are under-seasoned. Apricot Tree has some favourites that I order on a regular basis - French Onion Soup, Roasted Apple and Pork Crepes with side salad, freshly baked bread, and homemade desserts. The tiramisu and pretty much all of the mousse cakes are light and not-too sweet so those are my favourite. I order their whole cakes from time to time for special occasions and birthday parties at home. I've tried many of their other dishes in past years - Chicken Tarragon, Dinner Specials, Lamb Shanks, Osso Bucco, Weiner Schnitzel and Short Ribs. All could use more seasoning and we normally ask for salt at the table to add to the dish. I have had some excellent Schnitzels in Austria so regularly compare when they are offered. At one time before renovating, Apricot Tree used to serve Short Ribs with a spicy sweet sauce and it used to be a family favourite, but they took it off the menu over the years after renovations. I would also love for them to bring to this restaurant the Seafood Pasta (shrimp, mussels) with Spicy Rose Sauce that they served at Bistro Narra and Eggs Benedict with Peameal Bacon instead of sliced ham. If that were the case, I would bump up my rating. Unfortunately suggestions appear to be shrugged off with the response that the dishes on the menu are popular, and that the seafood pasta is sometimes on the menu (although not exactly the same based on my experience and certainly not regularly on the menu). The restaurant is clean and well-kept. Service can be good or slow depending on service staff that day. Some are very quick and check in regularly,; others are not attentive and stand by their station with their backs turned to the customer, even when they are not busy. In those cases, I try for quite some time to get their attention. There doesn't appear to be a floor supervisor, which might help improve service. The owners are usually focused on the back of the house. I'm sure it's not easy with staff shortages in the restaurant industry. Overall, I come back from time to time when I feel like eating my favourites. I would visit more often for brunch and dinner if some minor changes from above were made. read more

Came with a group on a Saturday afternoon. The previous group had not left so we had to wait a bit to get seated. It's a casual cafe either way a great looking dessert display. They have lots of coffees/teas and I was able to get a decaf latte with oat milk. There was a crepe festival happening where you get an app crepe, main crepe and dessert crepe with regular coffee/tea for $36. The app crepe could not be done gf so I opted for just the vegetarian chickpea curry crepe made gf. It was delicious!!! It came with a small side salad. Service was slow and different people got their food/drinks at different times. An additional server for our group would have been helpful. I was a bit surprised at the bread that came with it, as parm sandwiches typically come on a fluffier/larger bun (at least, in my experience). The bread was too small for the parm so the filling spilled out quite a bit. Additionally, the bread was not a nice texture with the parm, as it was quite hard and gritty. The parm itself was good, though -- good flavour with lots of cheese. We went inside to browse the desserts after our meal, but a lot of the desserts did not look fresh. I was disappointed at the overall food and value for the food, as this is one of the few nice brunch places offered in Mississauga. AMBIANCE | Standard modern European restaurant ambiance. The patio is nicely decorated with flowers and plants! It is quite a big restaurant, so there probably will not be much of a wait if you decide to come without a reservation. SERVICE | Because we were out on the patio with only a few other parties, the servers did not come out often to check on guests. It was a bit difficult at times to get a hold of a server, but overall, this was not a major issue. VERDICT | Wouldn't come again... What a cute cafe! We chose this brunch place because we were looking for something close by and then when I checked the menu, I was pleased to see an "Austrian Breakfast" and "Schnitzel" in the menu. The guests I was with told our waiter that I was from Austria and he had the chef and owner, Frantz, come out and we got to chat! Turns out he grew up 20min away from where I grew up in Austria! Him and his wife are sadly selling the resteraunt and moving back home in January, but I hope that the new owner keeps the beautiful charm. What a lovely surprise! read more

This is a superlative restaurant. The food is high-end, beautifully presented, and reasonably priced for the quality. Don't miss the desserts! We've been twice, and each time the service has been terrific--warm, friendly, responsive, personable. The business is also run with a high level of hygiene. You can check the air quality on their website, and there are filters running quietly throughout the restaurant. I wish more restaurants would put as much effort into keeping their customers safe! What a fantastic establishment then and even now. So I've been here before the renovation and now-The restaurant has seen a face lift but the quality of the food and the taste remains intact. So on my last visit I decided to have their chicken tarragon crepe which is one of their specialties and absolutely divine.This crepe is perfectly paired with an amazing house creamy chicken mushroom sauce. It comes with a side salad topped with delicious/light vinaigrette dressing on it. This entrée is delicious and fills you up. We also ordered their Mediterranean pizza and it's not like a regular pizza.Their version has a thin bread with lots of veggies and feta and jalapeño on top.Its not super saucy but is full of delicious flavors and a side of greens.I'm definitely ordering that the next time I go it's absolutely delicious.This pizza is full of freshness. For dessert we had the Nutella crêpe with raspberries and ice cream this was pretty standard and predictable. Just before they bring out the entrées they serve you the house made bread with butter which is so fresh and delicious also our server was kind enough to bring us a second serving after we're done with the first batch. The service given to us was quick and our server kept checking on us. We actually were in there much later after the lunch hours so I really don't know how they operate when it's busy-but the time we went there were just a few tables occupied. We were so stuffed that there was no room for dessert or coffee but I do highly recommend the desserts if ever you make your way there because they are pretty damn good. Very cute restaurant in the middle of a quaint plaza that looks like it should be in Niagara on the Lake! We did the Sunday lunch special where you add like two dollars to your dish and get tea and dessert which is a very good deal! I am pretty sure it was under $20 before tax and tip for an entree, tea, and dessert. The quesadilla was a decent portion and tasty. I've had the crepes and pasta from here as well and those are also good. I forgot the name of this chocolate cake, but it tastes very similar to their toblerone cake. This is THE chocolate cake that made me realize I do like chocolate cake! I am just very picky with it, and only like the super decadant mousse-y ones rather than the ones that resemble actual (sponge) cake. This is so good. Extremely rich and smooth. My sweet tolerance is pretty low but I will exceed that threshold for this cake! It might be because I don't generally eat chocolate cake that much but this is the only type of cake I ever crave that I would consider sweet and indulgent. (I usually crave asian fruit or matcha cakes if anything.) Next time you are in Mississauga give this place a try! read more

We came here for Sunday brunch and we were happy that we didn't have to wait in line. It did get pretty busy by the time we left around 11:45 am. It was a bit tricky to find this place in a round plaza as the front doors are not that visible from the parking area. We got to choose a table which was nice as we wanted some privacy. Our wall was painted with apricot tree branches which was a nice touch, due to the restaurant's name. Our waitress was friendly and understanding. She even split the dessert to our surprise. So we each got our portion of coconut crepe. Nice! My partner loved his salmon egg Benedict which came with some potatoes and a fruit bowl. For $10, it was definitely worth it. I got a chicken wrap with house salad. The chicken was on the dry side, but I'm glad the wrap was grilled. Nothing big on the salad. The dessert, I found had to much chocolate syrup to my liking. The coconut ice cream was divine. Issue: for such a large restaurant, I was surprised there's only one female washroom. Not ideal!! Verdict: We would love to go back for lunch or dinner. We've been visiting The Apricot Tree for many years, so I figured it was about time for a review. First and foremost, this restaurant is wonderful for desserts as it's owned by a pastry chef. The desserts are mostly European-style such as strudels, Napoleons, etc.. They are always beautifully presented with a sauce or coulis and dusted with icing sugar or cocoa. I don't eat a lot of dessert, but everyone I've dined with who has ordered one has raved about it. They also have a gelato bar for those who don't want pastries. The interior is a little small and it gets very busy, so it's a good idea to make a reservation. During the summer months, they open up a patio area at the back. The service is always very friendly, but can be a little bit slow. My favourite item on the menu is the chicken and tarragon crepe. It's served with a cream sauce and is honestly one of the nicest things I've ever tasted. There are daily specials, so there are often other kinds of crepes and I've never had one that wasn't wonderful. Other delicious menu/daily speicals items are the quiches, the warm salads, pastas, fish dishes and the list just goes on. I've never had a bad meal here. I visited The Apricot Tree today with 5 friends and after eating, I asked them to rate the restaurant out of 5 stars. I got two 4s and three 5s. I think that says it all :) read more

Hmmm... not sure the recent slew of negative reviews were deserved. I just came back for a birthday dinner with my sister, and brother-in-law, and we had a fantastic dining experience. We weren't in a rush, so the relaxed pace of service was fitting. Whenever we did need assistance, it came swiftly and attentively. Our server, Arslan, was patient and helpful, attending to all our questions and special requests. As it was a special occasion, we went for the 3-Course Special: choice of salad, main, dessert and coffee - all for $35! And they were very accommodating with our requests for swapping options. Everything we ate that night was phenomenal - great ingredients, portions and flavour. The meal started with complimentary amuse bouche of smoked salmon on salsa and basil. Then I had the goat cheese brûlée salad, lamb shank on garlic mash & veggies, and the dark chocolate pecan tart/pie. Others at my table also had the french onion soup, apricot salad, beef brisket, hazelnut meringue cake (tastes like a Ferraro Rocher in cake form), and the (ever flaky, light an delicious) poppyseed cranberry cheesecake/strudel. Everything was top notch. We were fully satisfied and even excited to have leftovers for lunch the next day. This place continues to be one of our favourites! Hidden Gem in Erindale. Friendly staff & worth the drive if you're craving for some amazing savoury crêpes! We had the french onion soup, Tafelspitz Mac & Cheese, Savoury Crêpe of the day (chicken,mushroom,zucchinni,rose sauce), and their Lemon Strawberry crêpe. The dishes may look simple, but they all tasted amazing (my tastebuds were raving for more)!! The Apricot Tree is great for family gatherings their wide menu selection with French, Italian, and Canadian styled food. I admire chefs who explore with diversity in their cooking culture, as well as, creating every dish with passion and this place done everything right! Don't come here for brunch unless you have hours to kill to make up for slow service. I came to Apricot Tree Cafe for Saturday brunch, just after 9am when they open, and despite there being only 3-4 other tables, it took us until almost 10am to get our food. We ordered the Apricot Tree Breakfast (poached eggs, toast, dill cream, smoked salmon), an Omelette, and the Florentine Eggs Benedict. We love brunch, and we've had some great poached eggs at other brunch places (Insomnia, Beaumont Kitchen). The poached eggs here were absolutely awful - they were obviously made using a pre-made poaching skillet/mold, but despite this extra help, the egg yolk was pretty much fully cooked. Don't order them unless you like your poached eggs spongy, fully cooked, and completely uniform. The toast order was mixed up, service was slow and pushy (we were asked if we wanted any additional drinks at least 3-4 times), and it was unbelievable that it took 30 minutes to get our food despite there being only a few other tables. I don't event want to imagine what it would be like during rush hour. It was bizarre that they had so many servers, yet the food took forever to come out. Lastly, to top it all off, there was no toilet paper in the washrooms. It couldn't have been a worse place for brunch - they're lucky that there are few other places serving brunch nearby, because I'm not sure they would survive otherwise. That being said, my family and I used to be a frequent visitor of Apricot Tree before their renovations. I think they still have great muffins, and I've heard positive reviews about their dinner menu. However, I would never go back for brunch. read more

I am SUPER impressed with Apricot Tree Cafe, I wasn't expecting much coming to Apricot Tree Cafe. I heard Great things about their Dessert so I specifically came for that. Crepe Denmark - 8.50 WOW, this was a stunner Straight of a Disney Cafe, 2 beautiful thin slightly browned crepes ontop with 2 scoops of ice cream folded between each one,spread with whipped cream and a small cute chocolate tea cup filled with chocolate sauce and strawberries. Its such a good size!, so worth it! SORBET PLATTER - 8.50 3 Scoops of beautiful sorbets, on top of what looked like a meringue it was so colorful and inviting. Its perfect for a summer treat! The Ice Cream is made in shop, and it's so good! It's a perfect balance of Creamy and not overly sweet. They Offer Patio Seating as well and Indoor!, Service is great. Decided to choose this spot to host a brunch with some friends as it was local and listed as a brunch spot. Place is okay looking in its decor, nothing fancy.. Menu was very small in its selection. This was a group of twelve so we definitely needed checking in on.. Let's get to the food, I did not enjoy my food at all. I ordered a apricot salad with a chicken breast., my chicken breast was one third of an average chicken breast. The salad was lacking in flavour and I only received one piece of tomato. It was terrible. The other girls seemed to like their food but they said that their was nothing special about it. The salmon that my friend ordered that's in the picture only ate the top of it and left the rest. I ordered a cranberry juice and asked for it with ice but received no ice. I'm really easygoing so I didn't complain. For me the two stars was because of the lack of attentiveness and lack of flavour in the food. I had just eaten food prior so this was a little bit much. The crepe was good the lemon and white chocolate cream was delicious. It was not too sour, but I think the choice of pairing it with the raspberry sorbet could have been done with something less tart to balance out the dish. The sorbet platter was also good, but the meringues underneath were just a bit too much sugar. There was something clearly missing in that combination. For $7.50-$8.50 for the crepes and under $7 for the ice cream, this is not that bad. What used to be a relatively small and cramped spot has evolved into a much more spacious restaurant. Being out on the west end, there aren't many options to go for decent dessert. Still, this is a nice spot to go for a crepe or cakes. I'd recommend it for sure. read more

This is a well established restaurant serving up brunch, Austrian influenced dinners, and a lot of great desserts. I really want to give this a higher rating as the food does taste good, desserts are excellent, and the servers are overwhelmed but the kitchen pacing and incredibly odd kitchen delivery was truly sub-par. If you're here just for their cakes, it's a good solid 4 Star... but don't expect good service unfortunately. On a Sunday brunch time, this place was quite full with at least 90% of the tables filled. I do recommend reservations if you try to come here during brunch. It is a small space (before their reno) and quaint. The tables are quite close together so not only are you sharing seating space, you're also sharing you're conversation... just FYI. They have a limited brunch menu which touches more on the savoury than sweet. You have everything from Eggs Benedict, omelettes, sandwiches, and a few crepes. They do have specials which has a pasta, soup, warm salad, and 2 entrees. The prices are fair... most items are sitting around $9 and a few bigger items like the entrees are $18. Most of us found an item to try. The concern is the kitchen service... the wait staff is harried and stressed. It's really obvious on their face as they all look like they're going to have a heart attack shortly. It takes a while to gain anyone's attention to order ... even MUCH longer to get your food. Though you do get some pieces of bread for the wait, it took over 40 minutes to get our dishes. The sad fact was that a table of 2 sat AFTER us and they got their dishes before us by at least 10 minutes. This was incredibly disappointing to see. I can't blame the wait staff for delivering non-existent food badly or slowly. Their kitchen service is their problem. As for the tastes, it wasn't bad ... thats the sad part. They may not be terrible cooks but they don't know how to cook en masse for a restaurant. I had the soup and warm salad. I enjoyed it... they were generous with the cheese and portions. As for the desserts, they were wonderful... don't order from the dessert menu but instead walk up to the glass enclosure of sugary delights. Apple strudel is rife with tons of apples, raisins, and hazelnuts with a nice crispy phyllo crust. Their Toblerone Mousse cake is one of their most popular and deservingly so... a nice chocolate sponge cake topped with 3 types of chocolate mousse (white, milk and dark). It's not overly sweet and very creamy. We picked up a box of their florentines... these are quite amazing. A nice soft cookie base then topped with apricot preserves, a few spices and tons of sliced almonds with lots of caramel. To top it off, dipped in dark chocolate. I wish I could give it 4 stars... I'm hoping with their new renos, they have a larger kitchen AND more people to run it... or at least someone who knows how to run a restaurant kitchen. read more

I have been going to The Apricot Tree regularly for the past 15 years, pretty much since it opened (back when it was in this tiny space and mostly served only desserts and coffee). It's located in a small, upscale shopping plaza in Mississauga's west end (Sherwood Forest). They are famous for their desserts. To this day, they are my gold standard for tiramisu. Other favourites are the mango mousse and various cheesecakes. They also make their own ice cream on the premises and do wonderful crepes (every year around March they have a crepe festival featuring savory and sweet selections). Around Christmas, you can buy cookies or gingerbread houses as gifts. But there is a lot more to the Apricot Tree than their desserts. The owners are a husband-wife team. Franz makes all the desserts and his wife, Esther, is in charge of the soups/salads/pasta/etc. There are always daily specials to keep things interesting and lots of fresh, healthy options. Warm salads are solid, as are the various pasta dishes. Schnitzel is another staple, going with the Austrian vibe. Really, it's hard to go wrong here. Even now that I live in Toronto, I still come back to the Apricot Tree because I have yet to find another place that is so reliably good and reasonably priced. For instance, during the crepe festival, I had a 3 course meal (soup, crepe main, crepe dessert + strawberry tea) for $22.50!! I should declare a conflict of interest -- I worked at the Apricot Tree for a year when I was in high school. However, I dined their regularly before and after I worked there. And having worked behind the scenes, I can only say good things in terms of the freshness of the food and the quality of the ingredients. read more
