Figo's is a cute, but pricey casual Italian restaurant. It has a large bar and tiny bathrooms . The pizza is a good wood fired or 800 degree style pizza. They have a limited menu that is too expensive for what you receive. While the waitstaff are pleasant, the manager/maitre'd is a "donkey". The manager is pompous and lacks common sense. He didn't want to seat me at 4:00 pm because he said at 5:00 it will be full. I said I just want a pizza then will leave. That should take 30 minutes. While he gave me a seat in the almost empty restaurant m, he's a jerk. I'll only return because the waitstaff is cool, pizza good and it's in an area I often walk through when downtown. I'm posting their menu it's quite limited. The downside to Figo is it's basically all carbs. It will be a while before I return, but if you go on a Monday night, enjoy the discounted pizza and pasta! read more

Standard entertainment district trendy restaurant. Patio was nice and packed for a summer day. Service was fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. Had the crudo which was average. I'm not a crudo fan so perhaps I'm being unfair. Pizzas looked great and were popular across most tables as were pasta. I had the bistecca which was solid. The restaurant is pretty spacious and they can accommodate corporate or larger groups They had a promotional 10% off discount for cinema ticket holders, or a prix fixe menu for $99 We got the stracciatella with charred sourdough bread, Bucatini Al Ragu Mushroom Pizza, and Ravioli di Zucca for 4 to share. Overall, everything was yummy, just some minor comments: the sourdough was a little too charred for me, it tasted burnt, and the mushroom pizza was overpowered by the pickled onions (or something else??). My personal favourite was the ravioli, which came with candied walnuts. The service was super attentive and friendly, they were also careful since we had an allergy in the group. Restrooms are clean. What a great find for excellent italian offerings in the heart of Toronto. The ambiance is fresh bright and inviting inside and offers expansive outdoor seating as well. Just be aware that outside comes with the price of ultra loud noises, blinding lights, and constant bombardment of weed smoke in your face. But a great people watching post. Menu is that of a traditional trattoria--pizza pasta fish etc. and they execute quite well. The fried zucchini is perfect for table sharing for at least 3 people. So crispy flavorful and light. Very impressive. Cacio & pepe is such a hard thing to execute in a restaurant but they do an adequate job. The pasta is made in house and you can taste the difference. Disappointed to see the Bronzino was removed from the menu because that's what I came here for. But the Cod Acqua Pazza is a welcome replacement. Served with tomato basil fennel lemon olive oil. Service was good and ambiance was nice in the busy bustling city. Things we got: White truffle pizza: 8/10 - Nice change from a traditional white pizza. Truffle shavings and arugula on top which was so refreshing and decadent. Cocktails: 9/10 - Their cocktails were so delicious and unique. Definitely great to come here for a drink. Bucatini: 10/10 - Favourite pasta shape is bucatini. The pasta sauce was a red sauce which was so velvety smooth and thick. The sauce clung onto the pasta nicely and was the perfect bite. Fried calamari: 8/10 - Another great pick. Fried to perfection and so delicious. Good for sharing Fried zucchini frites: 10/10 - Definitely my favourite dish of the night. It's thinly sliced zucchini that is fried, with some creamy white sauce, drizzled with honey. The sweet and creamy taste and texture of the fried zucchini is superb! A must try! Went here for brunch before heading off to the movies. It's a great space - plenty of outdoor patio seating for that all important people watching you must do. The inside is also lovely, with a good amount of space for larger groups . It's also IG/TT aesthetically pleasing and can look stunning in photos. I ordered the poached eggs with potatoes, fairly standard brunch item. It was good, cooked well, not overly salty as I find many places over season their potatoes. Figo is a place I pass often roaming around the DT core, but finally had a chance to try it for brunch. The place with a patio and can be super busy on game days. It is off Adelaide a more quiet street making it less busy than a patio on King. Now to the food: Ricotta Pancakes: Fluffy, light, tasty! The strawberry syrup with the mascarpone made for a very delicious pancake. Almonds gave it a good crunch for contrast in textures. Would recommend! Eggs Florentine: The poached eggs on the gremolata was creamy and amazing. Unfortuately potatoes were a bit over cooked and the pesto on it was rather salty. Would steer away from this dish. My girlfriends and I came here on a Thursday evening prior to going to watch Mean Girls the musical. Our reservation was for 5:30 p.m. I was the first to arrive & the hostess kindly adjusted my number of guests as half bailed. I tried to call several times to let them know & left a message but no-one got back to me. Our server was Peter & he did a wonderful job on making sure we had everything we needed even when the place started getting rammed starting at 6 p.m. It seemed that a lot of people were there for dinner pre-show so I was happy that our orders was in before everybody else's which made our time there relaxing & not feeling rushed. We got the calamari fritti as a starter. It was really good with a nice batter & fried well, not oily. For the size, I felt it was a bit overpriced at $22. For the main, two of us got the porchetta. I really enjoyed this but again at $27 was steep as it came with a bunch of small turnips scattered over the place as well as some peppers. The charred scallion aioli was a nice addition to the pork. My other friend got their Margherita pizza which I ended up having her last 2 slices (the porchetta dinner wasn't filling) which I found the dough to be soggy. Even after Neopolitan pizza gets cold, it's still supposed to have a nice crispness to the thin dough & not be soggy. While visiting Toronto for NYE, I stopped here to have dinner on my last night before heading back to the states. Figo did not disappoint! The vibe, the food, the service and the proximity to my hotel! Everything was great. I ordered the clams as appetizer and they were tasty! My friend and I also got the bread and olives. This was a perfect pair! My only suggestion would be to possibly already have the bread cut and provide oil on the side of the olives for dipping. For my entree, I ordered a side salad and the Chicken Cacciatore. The salad was divine especially with the pomegranates added on top. My chicken was sooo wonderful especially the sauce (filler with olives and mushrooms). To top it all off, I ordered the spritz which was not that great with my dinner but overall a great spirit. The prix fixe menu had a smaller selection of choices from their regular menu. For appetizer I got the bread and olives but I think the truffle ricotta was the better choice. I recently went here for lunch this past weekend. We were seated on the patio, which was quite large and decorated nicely. The service was not particularly friendly, and the servers seemed quite cold. Only the brunch menu was offered on weekends. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and Spaghetti Carbonara. The spaghetti was really bland and clumped together, making it hard to chew. There were only a few tiny pieces of meat. The eggs benedict was alright, but served on burnt bread. The only thing I really liked from that dish was the baked potatoes. Decor wise, Figo is nice looking inside. It's a pretty small space though. I was there for a company lunch & we were a big group. They had to seat us right beside the front door. Our tables went from the front door to basically the end of the wall near the kitchen. I wouldn't have chosen this place for a large group of people. Washrooms are at the back of the restaurant & they are single unisex washrooms. Food: As a person who has multiple food intolerances my rating towards a restaurant is geared towards how they can handle this. Let me speak plainly. I was out of luck. There wasn't any modifications to the meals in the set menu. I could only eat a few items safely so I ended up leaving the restaurant unsatisfied. The dishes I was able to eat were good but I wasn't impressed. I don't know if they are able to handle food intolerances better on an individual basis. But I have been to group events before where it's a set menu & modifications are made to my meal in consideration of intolerances. This is not the place to go if you have issues with dairy. Service: Wait staff seemed a bit flustered with our large group. They did their best, I can see that. Again, I felt like this restaurant wasn't the place to do a big group meal. They seemed fine with the other tables which were mostly groups of 2 to 4 people. Conclusion: This place has nice decor though its a really small space. In my opinion they aren't equipped to handle a big group of people. Also they don't seem able to make modifications for those with food intolerances. The food was good, but not mind blowing. The place was clean and well maintained. We ordered the Truffle Ricotta to start. Which was really amazing. The portion was good for two people. I went here with a few friends for Brunch. They ordered the Fritatta and toast while I order the Seared Tuna Salad and the Fried Zuccini. Again, with my allergies I make it very difficult for most restaurants, but Figo rose to the challenge. I normally avoid Italian because all the pasta tends to have eggs or dairy either in the pasta or in the sauce. Sometimes they are in both. The menu has lots of flexibility for someone with extreme allergies which is nice when going out with a group. The salad and the zuccini were wonderful even with me removing most of the good stuff. It was pretty dark as we entered and it felt very romantic with a small candle in the middle of each candle. Our server didn't really speak to us but in this case the food speaks for itself. It was very textbook, good flavour and not too oily. I'd probably rank it in my top 10 for calamari dishes in Toronto. Mains - I am allergic to dairy so Italian restos can scare me without my lactaid. Our server was very good with letting me know which dishes I could eat and they could hold off on the cheese (I know it's way better with cheese but I couldn't risk it then). I ended up choosing the Bucatini Al Ragu, which featured wild boar. It ended up being an amazing choice, I'd come back for this dish! My friend ordered the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. She really liked it. We were catching up after a couple months of not seeing each other, so ended up talking for a bit longer than they'd hoped. I felt like the server really wanted us gone even though it wasn't even the 2 hour standard mark. It wasn't explicitly said to us but we could feel it by the quick rush for the bill and him asking if we were finished. Totally understand as it's a busy Saturday night, we ended up going to a bar afterwards to catch the Raptors game. The location is perfect as it's right on Adelaide by King. There's honestly no shortage of restaurants on King West but Figo is usually quite busy so I'd recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They were very accommodating for my group of 9 and service was great. It does have a dressier ambiance with an open concept kitchen that's slightly hidden. The restaurant also feels quite airy. For appetizers we ordered calamari fritti, bread & olives and zucchini fritti. Calamari fritti was average for an italian restaurant, I've had better downtown. The star appetizer was definitely the zucchini fritti and I highly recommend getting that if you have to choose one thing to get. Lightly battered and seasoned appropriately, plus a nice addition of honey drizzle. The honey was surprising but worked really well. It was a hit at the table. We also ordered a round of cocktails for half the table and they tasted good, price was average for Toronto. For mains there was variety of pastas and pizzas. I was told the Paccheri was delicious and something different from other places. Linguine frutti de mare had plenty of seafood - they did not skimp out on mussels, calamari or tiger shrimp. I forgot what pizzas were ordered, but the pizza crust and dough was just chewy enough and the flavor combination was amazing. Although the flavours of everything was good, I personally did find the food on the saltier side. I came here on a Saturday for brunch, found Figo online listed as one of the better brunch spots, and have passed by it a few times. It is a beautiful restaurant with a modern and simplistic look; I love the open-concept kitchen where you can see the chefs making the food. We had the bottomless mimosas, I had the orange juice base, and my friend had the peach base, both were amazing, and bottomless; you can't go wrong. For food, we had the burrata (absolutely amazing with the peaches & balsamic), and then for our mains, we had spaghetti carbonara (so rich and excellent fresh pasta). Lastly, while the restaurant wasn't busy on a Saturday at 2pm, the server was so lovely and personable, Cherise continued to check in on us, offer us more mimosas and really was so kind. Figo is a super quaint and Instagram-able restaurant - the place is light and airy, with large window panes and white decor. As we came here for dinner on a chilly autumn evening, the place was dimly lit; however, I can only imagine how cute the place would look when hit by natural light. There's a partial open kitchen concept to the end of the restaurant where you see servers bustling about and a cozy, warm oven (presumably for pizza). My friend had heard that their cacio e pepe dishes were great, and so we ordered the cacio e pepe pasta - the special of the day. I also wanted a pizza, so we got the other daily special, the pizza alla norma. The cacio e pepe was mediocre, nothing memorable; the pasta was quite al dente, almost to the point of being hard. There were thin sheets of grated pecorino cheese, and specks of pepper sprinkled throughout. However, the cheese flavour dominated; we both agreed that the pasta would taste better with more pepper. The pizza though! We were blown away by the eggplant on this pizza. It was so good - it must have been marinated in some simple honey or syrup, as it had a slight and pleasant sweetness. The pizza dough is quite thin, to the point so that the base got a little soggy after a while. Nonetheless, this was a great and delicious plate! We ended off the meal with the chocolate almond torte for dessert - and loved it! There's a rich chocolatey / fudgey flavour, though the torte definitely has a certain grittiness from the ground almonds. The salted caramel and sweet vanilla gelato created a phenomenal juxtaposition, highlighting the distinct flavours and alleviating the richness. Figo was a nice meal, but there are more Italian places in town that are likewise as good, if not better. Been seeing this place on everyone's instagram so my sister and I decided to give it a try while we were strolling downtown. One thing to note is that it gets very very busy so it's best to make a reservation in advance to be safe. The place itself is very modern and bright, a great place for photos! The staff is also super nice and will help you out if you're absolutely stumped on what to order. There aren't descriptions for all the food on their menu so they do a great job at explaining and suggesting some items. We ordered the zucchini fritti and the diavola pizza. The zucchini appetizer was surprisingly delicious and my favourite dish out of the two?? Never thought I'd say that about vegetables but it was delicious! Super crunchy and light, with a sweet citrusy dressing. Definitely a must try when coming here. It was kind of a bummer because things were going well until it took 30 minutes for our next dish to arrive. Our zucchini was well finished before our pizza came, to which the server apologized for because their kitchen was short staffed. My new favourite pizza in town! I've been here twice in the last month for good reason. The cheese on the pizza is delectable. I recommend the mushroom pizza, which comes with caramelized onion, caciocavallo, potato, watercress, and truffle. The interior of the restaurant is also stunning - I especially love the floral ceilings. I've only been able to get a seat at the high-top tables, but the booths seem really nice as well. Having lived down the road from this restaurant and always seeing a full crowd, I finally decided to give FIGO a shot. Being an immense fan of Italian cuisine, I was looking forward to seeing if it lived up to the social media stardom it has acquired. Unfortunately, my final verdict is a 3/5. Whilst this place has a lovely atmosphere and ambiance, and truly kind, attentive staff (which is not a guarantee in downtown Toronto) the food was simply bad. The lack of fresh ingredients really made the dishes bland, which were clearly attempted to be overcompensated with gallons of salt, making it a challenge to ingest. My pasta dish tasted very basic and truly salty. The dish could have certainly been elevated had fresh pasta been substituted and the sodium minimized. The truffle pizza was also very mediocre, and like any other lower tier restaurant, a drizzle of truffle oil is expected to enhance everything and mask the cardboard like dish. The restaurant is definitely not authentic Italian cuisine, but rather a trendy Western take on pasta and pizza. It may be swell for a younger crowd who wish to dine in an aesthetically fashionable atmosphere, without looking to be impressed with by the culinary details. Overall, I do not wish to write this place off completely, yet myself will not will be making a return. There are numerous other surrounding restaurants that deliver on quality and taste, and FIGO is certainly not one of them. read more

Especially compared to the other two dishes, it did blow as away. Plus the bread was charred (a bit too much) border line tasted burnt. 2.75/5 The potato agnolotti by far stood out the most. The pasta was cooked perfect with a nice chew in the middle. The sauce was light and refreshing- great balance of mushroom and wine flavor. I went with 2 grandchildren. I asked to be seated on the patio. The man that received us refused because he told me he has only tables for 2. He gave us a table near the kitchen and again refused to seat us near the patio. We ordered the food. Pizza for the kids. Omelette for me. The pizza was brought 15 minutes before the omelette. Came here for brunch twice now and I gotta say, the food is delish!! Service on the other hand is so so, hence the loss of a star. Both times, the different hostess were really quite rude, both on the phone and there when we walked in. Considering the beautiful decor and lovely food, you would think hospitality and welcoming was going to be a high light. They just seem very.....I don't want to say pretentious, but something like that. Where they just don't have the time for you, even though both times the restaurant was only half full or less when we arrived. And the manager both times was bickering with one of the waitress/bartenders.. Just really unproffessional and I get the feeling here does that often with all the eye rolling the staff give him. It's sad and makes for a toxic work environment. That out of the way, definitely give the brunch prefixe a go. The truffle ricotta with crostinis starter was delicious!! The servers are amazing here! Super attentive and actually brought extra crostini when he noticed that we still had a lot of cheese left to go. The bar tender recommended some chili to go with our delicious eggs Benny too. She was top notch!! She really juggled the tables well and checked on everyone in a very timely and not invasive manner. :) She had great recommendations too! The desert was delicious!!! Very refreshing! I enjoyed the espresso with affogato and also the Panna Cotta. Plated beautifully and both light desserts. I feel very mixed about the place really. Love the food, though price is a bit high, hostesses need work but the servers are amazing! The manager needs to lighten up, but the bar tender was the best! We went to Figo for lunch today. Although we missed our initial brunch reservation by 2 hours, they were kind enough to allow us to order off the brunch - instead of mid-day - menu. We ordered the Margherita pizza and olives. Both were surprisingly good, despite the reviews we read of this place. Along with a glass of wine and some Mezcal, the total was $60. (The one ounce of Mezcal seemed to be less than one ounce.) The whole meal was kind of expensive for what it was, although we did enjoy the food and atmosphere. It was pleasant. I liked the open kitchen concept and brightness of the interior. Our server was also pleasant, except on asking us at the end whether we wanted two bills instead of one. It was my husband. It felt awkward and inappropriate, and somewhat lessened my overall and otherwise to that point positive feeling of Figo. While we enjoyed the food we are not certain we would return because it wouldn't necessarily be our first choice. read more
