Love finding a good "hole in the wall" :) I love the bright, feminine, beachy decor and coral pink & aqua blue accents. It's not too tropical, but it definitely transports you outside of Canada. Coupled with Aussie staples like vegemite and Noosa magazines (takes me straight back there!), as well as gorgeous ceramic coffee mugs for purchase, the vibes are great here. While it is a smaller shop, there is enough seating for 3 tables, and it's very cozy. Had to go for a flat white, given the Aussie homage here. This one got my approval (and I'm picky about my flat whites) - they used a lighter, more balanced espresso roast, paired with just the right amount of creamy frothed milk. They also had a banana bread latte that my companion really enjoyed too! Looking forward to my next visit!

Never tried an Aussie coffee brand before -- heard that they have high coffee standards there, but tbh couldn't really tell a difference. Maybe I'm just not a fan of fruity/sour beans. Can't say I get the hype, and quite overpriced too at $7-8+ for coffees. Guess it's the location and rent. It's better than Starbucks, but I don't think that is saying much. After trying my vanilla iced latte and my partner's macchiato... I wondered if this place might actually be better known for food or matcha, based on what I've seen in other reviews - the coffee was not good. The espresso beans seemed to be over-roasted, which were quite bitter for our liking as opposed to something more subtly chocolatey and nutty. My iced latte also got watery pretty quickly as the ice melted it seemed, and ended up tasting more like the kind of latte you'd get from a fast-food chain (or the espresso shot was way too long). A bit of a letdown, especially since the two fairly small drinks came to about $18. The space itself is cozy, and I really like the vinyl collection (which earned the 2 stars). That said, the records are noticeably pricey compared to typical vinyl shops like Sonic Boom. A lot of them -- even ones with just Side A -- were priced at $55 and up. I didn't cross-check the barcodes on Discogs, but while I love the curation (especially the focus on Japanese jazz and city pop -- really cool stuff), I find it hard to believe all of them are rare pressings worthy of those $55-to-several-hundred-dollar price tags. As an avid collector myself, I wouldn't come here to buy the records. Service was friendly.

I also tried their raspberry lemonade which to my surprise tasted more like a mocktail made with sparkling water and I didn't really find the "lemonade" taste there, so it wasn't what I expected. It was still good regardless. Staff was very nice. I found the iced Toronto Fog okay. I also tried some of their pastries and really enjoyed that crunch and freshness of their almond croissant. I love that they've got both a selection of sweet and savoury items to choose from, as well as lots of options to go. The sundried tomato savoury makes a great treat and you can ask them to warm it for you. I love the design and space, and although it's got limited seating (which makes sense since it's in a corporate building and I find most people just come to grab and go), I really enjoyed this place and would come back if I'm ever in the area.

Out of all the afternoon tea experiences I've had, the food selection and quality at their afternoon tea here were some of the best. The food items were curated to resemble or draw inspiration from old-school British and Welsh dishes. My favourite was the smoked salmon rarebit quiche (very unique and inventive). Despite the name, there was no rabbit in the dish. Rarebit (most commonly known as Welsh rarebit) is a rich British comfort food that takes standard "cheese on toast" to the next level. Instead of just melted cheese, it features a savory, creamy sauce made of melted sharp cheddar, ale (or stout), butter, and spices including Worcestershire sauce and mustard, grilled until bubbly and golden. In this version for afternoon tea, it was mixed with peas and topped with smoked salmon. The finger sandwiches were nice and light, while the spiced pumpkin soup was just alright. The sweet items (cakes, pastries, macaron, English scones and fresh strawberries), presented in the iconic "afternoon / high tea tower" were almost too pretty and colourful to eat. The scones came served with jam, butter, and clotted cream. Tea selection was comparable to other places serving British-style afternoon tea. The presentation, plating, and service, just like in all other afternoon tea places in high-end hotels, were 5/5 - very on point and courteous.

I opted to stop by Oliver Coffee Bar on a hot Wed afternoon, needed some iced coffee to cool down. Upon entering the space, the seasonal drink board had some interesting options, however, I decided to get an iced Americano. My coffee was made at a reasonable time and it tasted good. I decided to chill on the patio for a few minutes enjoying my beverage before I was on my way. Service was friendly, the place wasn't busy at all considering it's about a 7-10 min walk from Pape subway station. Overall, a good coffee shop in the East York area - something to try if you're in the area!
