Such a cute little space, the interior really fits the theme of an train station! The in house made chips are a must try, they come in spicy or herbs. The smoked salmon was perfectly done. The portion was a decent size as well. The matcha and ube torched drink were delicious, they gave a spoon for the ube to pick up the little ube pieces at the bottom. Service was amazing and so friendly
Had breakfast yesterday with a friend and it was great! Staff were great, food was tasty, service was quick and friendly, Highly recommend!
One of the favourite cafes my wife and I go to for brunch. Great service, simple but tasty food and great decor. What else can one ask for. We came on a week day and it was nice and quiet. We were guided to our table and picked our drinks and food. I let the service team member picked the coffee bean for my pour over. It's flavourful and just right. My panini was tasty and leaning towards being on a "healthier" note. We always love coming here and will continue to do so.
Love their drinks! So many options and they all taste good. I fully recommend the Magic Moment because it changes colours and it's a lovely fruity drink. Their classic breakfast is also great for a quite bite. I liked their hash browns! Staff was very nice but it does take a little while to seat people. They probably need more staff lol. Ambiance was casual and cozy. It's train themed inside. This isn't a cafe where you can sit and work for 6 hrs though.
Finally got to try their coffee/tea lattes here, and it was well worth the wait (and effort to find a time when there was parking!). Staff are kind, hospitable, and more than happy to help you with recommendations :) Unlike other cafes, I love how you can choose your roast. While I definitely came for the gorgeous latte art, the quality of their espresso and matcha were fantastic as well. I got my matcha latte lightly sweetened, which allowed me to taste the depth of the tea paired with the creaminess of the milk. This is something that's often missing from places that use a lower quality matcha that doesn't require whisking. Next time, I'll have to try brunch here!
Super cozy brunch place and I'm a sucker for a themed restaurant. Platform Espresso Bar really embraces its proximity to that little stretch of train track that cuts through Hwy7. Very cute train-themed setting and menu. Came here for brunch a couple of times. Their menu is not the largest, but has some nice brunch staples at a reasonable price ($10-$15) with a bit of an Asian fusion twist. The food is decent with good portions. I have had their torched salmon open-faced toast and smoked salmon bagel and both were pretty tasty. My favourite part is their drinks. I'm not a huge coffee connoisseur but I love a latte any time. I really love their Warmy Cozy Latte which is made with fresh ginger and brown sugar. Their Hojicha latte also had a strong roasted tea flavour and their Torched Ube was a comforting combination. I would definitely come back just to sit back, sip lattes, and relax.
We came here on a Sunday past noon and it was packed! It was about 30 minute wait for a table, so we opted for takeaway. We noticed there were a couple tables which weren't cleaned up yet and only one staff making the drinks, so it seems this place was busy without enough staff. Anyway, we ordered the matcha love - this was a matcha latte with rose syrup and rose petals. It took awhile till our order was ready. Since there was no seating we enjoyed our drink in the car. I'm not sure what rose syrup is supposed to taste like but the latte wasn't too sweet which was perfect for our taste buds. The matcha also tasted fresh (not too bitter and not fishy at all). There was a good variety of coffee and other speciality drinks on the menu. Wouldn't mind coming back to try more at a less busier time so we can enjoy chilling in the cafe!
cozy brunch spot located on hwy 7! the interior mimics as if you are eating on a train. Menu for food is not extensive. We ordered the waffle sandwich and the bagel omelette. Both were super delicious- esp their home made chips!! make sure to upgrade for those on your order. We also got the la rocha latee and it was the perfect amount of espresso and dark chocolate. super tasty! May have a bit of a wait if you go on a weekend, but worth it!
1.5 hr seating limit, friendly staff but limited parking outside. Located in a very small plaza off of busy hwy 7 that you could easily miss the turn in. The good thing is, you can make reservations here so that's what we did. The restaurant has like this train conductor theme which is cute. The inside is very clean and modern with lots of oak touches. They have a section with books at the back. The food is 2/5 and lacked seasoning. I ordered the spicy chicken panini and it was hardly even spicy. I couldn't taste any spice. The chicken was also really bland. The best part of it was the mayo which was supposed to be spicy but just tasted like mayo. I upgraded to curly potatoes but it was actually just chips. I got the spicy one and again, I couldn't even taste the spice. I couldn't even taste the salt either. IDK it was very underwhelming. The best part of today's brunch was the drink 4/5. Given that this place is known for espresso (it has it in it's name), I got a latte. The latte was really good. You can choose between 3 different roasts, light, med, or dark. I went with dark. Overall, this is a cute spot to come grab a quick hot beverage with a friend. But you should get here early for parking sake. In the future, I would pass on the curly potatoes and maybe overall the food unless I try something else off their menu.
Nice little cafe to have brunch. The waitress (I assume the owner) was so nice! The food was good but the cream udon was *chefs kiss* it was creamy, a little bitter and fresh from the arugula, salty and earthy from the mushrooms / bacon and the noodles were chewy and bouncy! It was so good! The down side is this place is not for studying/ working for long time since they have a seating limit of 1h and 30 mins. Overall 3.5 for food. 4.5 for coffee. Service is a good 4.5. Friendly staff, nice little venue. Clean and love the coffee equipment all over. The coffee at Platform is very well crafted by the barista. The flat white I ordered with their dark roast was very rich and dark in flavour, which paired very well with the smooth creamy and sweetness of the natural milk. Overall, the americano was also not overly bitter but light yet chocolatey. I like how their menu shows you what you will anticipate from each blend. Makes it fun and remind me of the coffee culture in Melbourne. Food wise, it was a bit underwhelming and option was a bit limited likely due to the pandemic. Service was relatively slower too, even though it was just us as dine in, but I wasnt in a rush and we understand it is likely due to less staffing. Avocado Toast with Truffle Oil Eggs Scramble 3.5/5 - eggs were nicely cooked as they were fluffy and silky smooth, the way I like them. The toasted bread was also quite soft and pillowy with a good crust that wasnt hard or overly toasted. Points down goes to the very subtle notes of truffle, where some parts didnt really have much of the flavours either. Otherwise, the dish came with approx 2 cups of greens with a drizzle of dressing. While it wasnt too expensive, it didnt really feel complete and would have preferred a bit more truffle flavor. My friend ordered their big breakfast I think it's called, with eggs, bacon, hash brown and toast. Looked nice and standard, and she also felt indifferent. Overall, decent food but limited options at the time being. Coffee is definitely worth praising here though given so many opened in Markham nowadays. Friendly staff gives it more points as well. Hope they'll expand their menu soon!

As a matcha enthusiast and lover, this place has really great matcha and they spice it up with their matcha variations too which I love I've recommended it to a handful of people and they all love this place and have gone back. Kyoto Lo You MUST try their French toast app, it's great for sharing. It's soft, warm, sweet and pillowy soft with a good putter crunch. Love it!!!
Platform Espresso Bar is a tiny hidden gem in Markham serving up quality brunch and cafe drinks. For my visit, I tried the smoked salmon benny and the taste was on par with expectations. Would be a great place to study as it usually not too busy. However, my only peeve is that the store closes extremely early (4PM) so plan accordingly.
A great option for brunch, as they have a full brunch menu besides a list of drinks. I had the chicken and waffles and it was the perfect brunch dish. Love the creative design, transforming the long narrow eating area into a 'train' to fit the theme of the restaurant. Platform refers to a train platform. It's been a while since I've been back. Based on my review from 7 years ago, the space was a little different from what I remember. I brought my husband to work from here but it was a bit tricky. They had a time limit which made sense as it was a limited seating area, so they gave us a smaller table to let us work for a couple hours. I appreciated it but with the space it was a little challenging to work. We ordered the torched salmon. It was really tasty and the bread was super soft. I kind of wished the salmon was a bit thicker, or at least it seemed a little imbalanced with the toast. I ordered the matcha latte too. Delicious! read more
I've been here twice my first visit the espresso machine was down, so I decided to come back to give their coffee a proper try. While the coffee itself was good, I was a bit disappointed by the blue rose latte, especially given that it was $7 and the fairly simple latte art. Seating is quite limited, and the food was decent but nothing that really stood out to me. That said, the service was friendly and everything came out quickly, which I appreciated. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I personally feel there are a few better café in the area. read more

A step up from your basic breakfast/brunch fare at affordable prices! Platform Espresso bar gets super busy during peek brunch times on the weekend! With no virtual wait list, you're looking at a 30 minute to 1 hour wait. Luckily my party didn't have to wait this time (arrived around noon on a Saturday) but it's normal for there to be a wait. Our group ordered: - Classical breakfast (2 eggs ordered as scrambled, bacon, 2 hash browns, and toast) 10/10 for the scrambled eggs and bacon - Avocado Toast with scrambled eggs - French toast cubes 7/10 - Spicy chicken panini 6/10 - Hojicha latte 6/10 - Matcha Samurai (Matcha w/ dark brown sugar) - Rocher (Hazelnut espresso latte w/ dark chocolate) 10/10 The doneness of the scrambled eggs can be adjusted to your liking. There was an ample amount of bacon and cooked to perfection. The wrap was just okay - the chicken and warm avocado left a lot to be desired, I wouldn't recommend it. It was nice that we could adjust the sweetness in the drinks but while the Rocher was perfect, the hojicha was very bland and didn't taste like hojicha. I liked their offerings and their service was great, but it's a small place and wouldn't recommend to groups bigger than 4. read more

Came here for brunch. We tried a few things off their menu and our faves were probably their sides! The potato curls were fried very nicely, not oily at all, and their french toast cubes were super soft, very tasty. And we liked that the bacon was a bit thicker cut. Their coffee was really nice - you can customize and pick the beans to your linking. Worth trying if you're looking for a simple brunch spot uptown without the long lines. read more

Very nice , cozy cafe shop. Best for 2-4people. Food taste delicious(although price is a bit on the high side but for the environment is worth it) pattern for the hot drink is very good. Will come back and try other items. Service is good . read more
Review is from December** I was looking into new brunch places to go to and saw this one with a semi-train theme going on. It looked fun so we decided to try it out. First of all, the servers and baristas were so nice and welcoming, we were quickly shown to a nice more secluded table near the back. The decor was really cute and when we were here they were playing k-pop music. Everything was really clean too. For drinks, we ordered the rose latte and their mocha (it is made with dark chocolate), I 100% prefer the rose latte - it was so warm and had a light sweetness to it. Yes there was a rose taste but it was really pleasant without overpowering the taste of the coffee. For food we ordered the breakfast sandwich and chicken panini wrap. Both were really nice, the breakfast sandwich had thicker bread compared to toast or an english muffin. We also got the banana bread which was hands down one of the best banana breads I have ever eaten. I was so soft but full of the banana flavour and served warm. Really excited to come back to try more drinks and food when we can! read more

I love this cozy, coffee shop in Markham :) Platform Espresso Bar offers lovely latte drinks, delicous brunch items, and don't forget the desserts! I have been here twice, and both times I enjoyed the experience. The service is friendly and courteous. Their signature Waffle Club Sandwiches are a must-have. It is served with deep fried potato curls or a house salad. The French Toast Cubes served with maple syrup on the side is another one of my go-to. It is not too sweet or overwhelming... I can easily finish this one by myself XD Matcha Latte is often a popular choice! Green and very pretty with the latte art. If you like roasted green tea, Hojicha Latte is definitely a great choice! I was adventurous and went for the Torched Ube (under Conductor's Creations) one day, I thought it would be sweet. Surprisingly, it was not; you will taste more of the actual ube root vegetable in the bottom of the drink. If you prefer it to be sweeter, the barista said they can make it sweeter for you. I often seek out caffeine-free (CF) drinks; I think they only have a couple teas here. The blue coloured tea is very trippy, it is not the best tasting tea but at least it is CF lol. I love the decor of this place! Food and service is phenomenal. All Espresso based drinks are given a choice of light/medium/dark roast. The Blue Rose was a yummy sweet drink. Both dishes were delicious. The thickness of the toast was just right and crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside topped with the avocado & scrambled eggs... The decor is beautiful, place is clean (even the washroom) staff is friendly and would come by to check up on us every now and then. I really enjoyed my visit here and glad I came by. read more
Amazing service, and pretty good food! Ask for less mayo on the torched salmon toast if you are health-conscious. I was especially in love with how smooth the hojicha latte was. This is a such a cute coffee shop that looks like it came straight out of Pinterest! It's the perfect little place for a nice brunch date. The parking is a shared lot and quite small but I got a spot right away on a weekend for brunch. There were a lot of people waiting at the front (all waiting for their coffee to go) so I was seated immediately. Service was good from the moment we walked in. The barista at the front was friendly, as was our server. The wait for our food wasn't long at all, so that was great too. The menu is simple and straight forward so it was very easy for me to decide on what I wanted. My partner and I ordered the Platform Waffle and the Sunrise Waffle. They were both yummy but I preferred the Sunrise Waffle more. I think I spent too much time trying to take pictures of the Platform waffle because it got soggy (oops!) The potato curls were soo addicting! I couldn't stop munching on these. The pricing is average at $15-16 for each waffle. Of course, I had to order something to drink at Platform Espresso Bar. I ended up ordering a cappuccino. They were supposed to have two types of espresso to choose from but as they were in between seasons, there was only one in stock, which I was completely fine with. Taste was alright. In conclusion, it's a cute little shop I would return to, but I wouldn't make it one of my regular stops. read more
Today a friend and I ventured to this cafe and we had a great experience. Location: It was a little difficult to find. My gps insisted I make a u-turn to get into the plaza when I could have turned left into the plaza off of highway 7. Because of this error I had to sit in traffic an extra 15 minutes due to all of the construction. The Employees: All of the employees were really friendly. They checked on us often to refill our water glasses and were very patient when I asked all of my questions to decide what to order. The Ambiance: The restaurant is really cute. It features white tables and looks like a really cozy and cute cafe. The Food: The food is delicious. They have gluten and dairy free options and lots of milk alternatives for those with lactose intolerance. My friend loved her scone, espresso and latte. I loved my rose tea latte over ice. One of my favourite brunch spots in Markham! Was a little disappointed upon my first visit, but I was glad I gave this place another chance as I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of their other menu items. First time coming here was pre-COVID where I got the platform sandwich. Personally I found the sandwich less than mediocre... the combined dryness of the chicken and waffle made my mouth feel like the Sahara desert and the onions gave it a very unpleasant, slimy-like texture. I decided to revisit after COVID hit and I was super glad I did! I really enjoyed the sunrise club sandwich with the herbed potato curls. The eggs are normally over-easy which helps with the dryness of the waffle, and the mix of bacon, avocado, and mushrooms complement each other perfectly. The herbed potato curls are super crunchy and taste similar to chips without being too salty. I've also tried the avocado toast which is great if you want a lighter meal. There's not much to it - just avocado, bread, and side of salad, but delicious nevertheless. They also have a very unique list of drinks and all of the ones I've tried so far were delicious - particularly the rose and hojicha lattes. Dining in during the 10 people limit is super hard especially if you don't have a reservation. So make them in advance if you know what you want Luckily we were able to get a spot here after calling 8 other brunch spots! We got the Pink Lady drink which is rose and lychee juice with milk, very refreshing and non caffeinated! Obviously got the Mocha because latte art is always needed! Both brunch entrees were delicious! Good portions and were definitely filling even though there's a lot of salad in these pictures...don't be fooled! read more

Ordered two sandwiches: Pacific and Torched Salmon. They gladly took our request to swap out wasabi mayo for regular mayo. The salmon on both dishes was great and was clearly the star of each sandwich. The house salad was sufficient but the dressing could use a bit more kick. Also ordered a light roast cappuccino and a matcha tea latte. The microfoam was a bit subpar but overall a decent drink with a nice vibrant roast. The matcha tea latte was quite nice and they also happily offered to add more syrup if we wanted. Very clean and cozy place, that isn't too loud or crowded on weekdays. Service was phenomenal from start to finish. We originally ordered a side of potato curls which didn't seem like was coming, and after asking, they brought over our order on the house. Definitely recommend Platform for breakfast, brunch or even lunch for a small group of people. This is already our 5th or 6th time here, and everytime we come back they try to improve their service. A Slayer Machine which is probably the only one in the neighbourhood. A passionate owner/barista who really wants to provide her customers that ultimate coffee experience. The weakest link here is probably the food. I was here twice and really enjoyed my Flat White and Cappuccino. Lovely espresso and awesome latte art. I know I will be back for coffee. The food though was quite disappointing. Platform Signature Waffle Sandwich ($15) - Waffles was not crispy outside, the chicken was meh - We opted for potato curls which is probably a better option than iceberg lettuce side salad Belgium Waffle ($3) order with no adds - hoping for a dust of powder sugar: waiter said they only have brown sugar for coffee and did offer me some A revamped of the menu might be in order to make the overall a better experience as a cafe. read more
A great find, or better yet, have the GTA's top Yelper introduce you to a cool little espresso bar. Decorated in light colour wood with booths along one side of the shop, and the kitchen and espresso bar on the other. This CHIC place is truly a gem in Markham. If it had some comfy seats, it could be Markam's "Central Perk." I was shown the $24K Slayer. That would be their espresso machine. I know these things are expensive but wow! $24K to get every last essential flavours and creama out of a bean, so that overly caffeinated peeps can go on with their day. I would hate to have it go haywire as I don't think people have spares lying around. The menu is pretty short. Have some form of beans and if you are hungry has a light snack or have a waffle! I had a lactose-free Ethiopian bean latte. Oh...wow...what flavours. How I love the sweet, milky, and burnt caramel-like taste! Can't get that from a Nespresso! The latte-art is nice to see - however, everyone is doing it. It's cute...to see hearts but maybe for me, you can do something more...manly. Maybe a hammer, a power drill, a football helmet...heck...I'll settle for a golf ball! Espresso to me is Expresso - you're in and you're out! Had to go next door to Hibiki for lunch. This is such a great aperitif to Sushi - sort of! :D Oh...by the way, parking is a nightmare. If you find yourself without one...park on the street and it's a 30 second walk to the shop. Looking to grab coffee in the area and I stumbled across this gem while looking through yelp. I said to le boyfriend - WERE GOING HERE. I am definitely so happy I did. Located in a tiny plaza this establishment sits in the middle of it all. Doesn't look to nice from the outside however when you walk in it transforms into a beautiful bright cafe. We were greeted right when we walked in. Once placed at a booth the very kind employee asked if we were on a lunch break (which to me means that they are conscious to accommodate people whom may be on lunch break) I just wanted coffee but I went with a pour over drip coffee - Moksnisa Natural (Ethiopia) also had their in house made banana bread. There is absolutely nothing I would complain about. I think I mentioned to le boyfriend the whole time I was eating that - I LOVE BANANA BREAD. Coffee tasted delicious. I went for breakfast yesterday and loved my breakfast. The staff were very friendly and welcomed me right away. I ordered the classic breakfast. The bread was super yummy, the eggs and bacon were perfect. I would highly recommend the classic breakfast. I would definitely come back again. read more
Platform is a really great place to get some work done. It has awesome drinks, great service and fast wifi. Platform is my go-to coffee shop in Markham. I usually come here on weekdays but have been here on weekends too. On weekdays, it's pretty easy to get a spot and the seating is typically big enough for your food + drink, a notebook, and a 15-inch laptop. The place is relatively quiet and there isn't too much traffic on a weekday, so you can really get into the zone. On weekends though, its a lot harder to get a seat and I would suggest calling in ahead of time. The problem is that since this is a coffee shop, once there are no seats, it's going to be pretty long for you to get a seat. However, they do have a 1.5-hour seating limit on days they are pretty busy. I feel like they don't enforce the seating limit on less packed days like weekdays. Wifi is also blessed at this place and you'll be able to surf the web and do what you need to do without any lag. The drinks and food is soooo good. I was expecting the drinks to be good (matcha latte usually) but the food is also awesome. Don't be afraid to eat here because you won't be disappointed. I think I've gone through the majority of their menu now and they only thing I don't really like is the cost of the sweet potato fries because you don't get that many. That said, everything else is great. The service is great and the servers there know to not bother you that much if you're deep into work. They are also very attentive and it's been a super pleasant interaction with them so far. I'll for sure be coming back here once they re-open for sit-in service. I can't recommend this place enough for weekdays. Working here on weekdays is a 5/5, but I would say that the weekends are hit-or-miss, giving this place a 4/5 on weekends. Overall, Platform Espresso Bar is a solid 4.5 - 5/5, depending on factors out of their control. read more
Rainy day breakfast led us to Platform Espresso Bar! We visited around 9:00 am to find an exclusive breakfast experience (being the only diners) on a weekday. We were greeted warmly and had our choice of seating. I was immediately drawn to the bright, clean and modern decor with lots of trains (hence "Platform"). Now it all made sense. The bar area had these ingenious hooks attached to hang bags/purses. We ordered from the breakfast menu which had "set" breakfasts. I had the French toast with a choice of coffee or tea. There were all the listed teas in test tubes for sniffing while choosing and it was an easy choice for me since I like fruity teas. The peach apricot was divine! Fruity. Definitely. The French toast came in cubes and the presentation was very nice. Each cube was browned and crisp with a subtle cinnamon flavour. Though the bowl of cubes seemed small, it was quite filling (not sure if it was from being a bit oily tasting) My hubby got the Ohayo breakfast which included a matcha latte. The latte was a bit bitter for his tastes so he opted for more syrup. The milk bread toast came with butter and a red bean paste which was quite tasty. Overall, this was a nice little local brekkie/brunch place! read more
