This place redeemed itself that's for sure, we ordered chicken and waffles and shrimp cake eggs, service was excellent the staff were very attentive, the shrimp cake was perfectly cooked had a lot of heat to it, the eggs were runny when you cut them that is how a poached egg is supposed to be. The fried chicken and waffles were out of this world price is on the higher side but this place always gets packed, the chicken was crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside, the chilli maple glaze was delicious The ambiance was nice small space so there isn't that much seating, the chicken and waffles were my favourite and their salad with their vinaigrette was delicious. Just if you come here don't order the duck if I was the owner I would take that out of the menu, they specialized in making eggs Benny, super tasty the chicken and waffles were my favourite.
A cute cafe to head over to when you want to work or study! Food options were alright, and did have a great vibe to it overall! Got the Smoked Salmon salad and it was subpar, would not go back for it! 6/10 recommend!
We came on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch, and this place was bustling full. We had placed ourselves on the waitlist while driving here and had wait for around 20 minutes before being seated as they were completely packed. We're definitely recommend using the waitlist function so it cuts down on your wait time. We got the Duck Benedict and the Chicken Waffles. Both were freshly prepared and well-made, and were great brunch items. Service was a little slow, but understandable due to it being so busy.

I always get some type of latte or coffee drink when I come here because their coffee is so strong. Always hits the spot! Sausage egg benny - An egg benny with a breakfast sausage on an English muffin with a side of potatoes and salad. Salad was good. Potatoes were over fried and was not seasoned as well as I remembered. The sausage benny on English muffin combination was a bit disappointing. The muffin felt soggy and heavy didn't contribute anything to the combination. The sausage was well seasoned and didn't feel too oily which was nice. On the egg benny was also good, but didn't mesh well with the sausage. Individual components on its own was good, together it was disappointing. Alchemy is a great place to try with unique dishes, but their menu hasn't changed since my last visit. Unlikely to visit either locations again due to the lack of innovation with their dishes.

Ordered a mocha at the counter and it was decent. Despite using whole milk, the mocha tasted a touch watery. The chocolate wasn't too sweet and quite tasty. The latte art was great, temperature of the drink was good and the foaming was perfect. ~$6 after tax for a mocha. Cash and debit card accepted.
Fresh and tasty, massive amounts and colorful. The owner is a very polite and generous man and takes pride in his work. Small sociable and cozy place.

From pork belly to chicken/duck waffles , to pasta and duck/shrimp Benny, there is something for everyone! Their coffees and lattes are also spot on and they do also have tea lattes (London fog, matcha) as well They do get busy but I love how they have a Yelp waitlist so that I don't have to head there until my table is almost ready. Not the most kid friendly space since it's such a small capacity but they do have a second location in Richmond hill with a bigger space!
I came here for coffee as I had been here a few times in the past. I had good experiences before. As I was waiting for my lattes, I was looking at the meals coming out. Eggs Benedict was what most people were ordering, presentation looked really nice, meals are $15 and above. My lattes came, but unfortunately my latte didn't taste the way I remembered it to be, coffee flavour wasn't strong enough, it seemed as if the portion of coffee wasn't enough, too much milk to coffee ratio. I'm hoping the next time I come back it will be back up to par as before.

Ordered takeout with my friends to prepare for a long work day! The chicken and waffles were great, the waffles were perfectly fluffy and not too sweet. They gave REALLY maple syrup which I love! I dislike when places give the fake kind. The chicken was seasoned well and juicy, I liked the sweet & sour sauce it came with. I also got the duck benny, I thought it was just okay. The duck was dry and the whole dish lacked flavour. The potatoes it came with were just okay as well. I appreciated how they gave the hollandaise sauce on the side! read more
Solid brunch spot in Markham. The Smoked Salmon Eggs Benny ($22 CAD before tax) tasted exactly as expected -- fresh, balanced, and satisfying. Alchemy has always been an amazing brunch spot with savory takes on some standard brunch items, in addition to their own creations. The staff is very kind and service is very quick. Love the natural colour decor to give it a very warm and welcoming rustic feel. read more

3.5 STARS mr. Tran wanted "brunch" so we ordered from Alchemy Coffee thru Ubereats. I got the steak and eggs and he got the duck benny. My steak was medium done, with scrambled eggs, 1 whole toast cut in half, a side salad and mushroom sauce. Steak was chewy and a tad bit tough, scrambled eggs was bland, but the salad was good and so was the mushroom sauce. mr. Trans' duck benny looked good, it came with two egg benny, a side salad, and a side of roasted potatoes. I took a bite of his duck benny, it was good, but the alfalfa sprouts overwhelmed the whole taste of the duck benny. The potatoes were crispy and the sauce it came with was delicious. Would probably try again at the restaurant. read more
This is a popular cafe in the neighbourhood, we went in today without reservation but got seated almost immediately despite many customers came in afterward, so it is advisable to make advance reservation. We ordered smoked salmon egg benny, cappuccino and ice coffee, the benny was fresh, hot and tasty and the coffees were excellently served too! My friend requested no carb so no deep-fried potatoes, the server separately offered a big plate of green salad without additional charge, how generous could that be! Service was great! The servers were nicely groomed, polite, attentive and efficient. I'd give 5 stars if they could serve boiled instead of deep-fried potatoes, and drizzled less dressings on the salad. We thoroughly enjoyed this cozy little cafe with good ambiance and will definitely make our way back! read more

My friends loved this place and took me here for brunch. I arrived early so I could be on the wait list first. They told me 30-45 mins wait time. The place had about six table seating area since it's a small cafe with limited parking spots in front. I think they started off as a cafe than a brunch place because they can't cater to many customers. I ordered the duck confit egg Benedict and I asked for well done eggs. The potatoes were yummy. My first time eating duck meat for breakfast and it certainly satisfied my tummy!! The salad was sweet and could be fresher. My friend ordered smoked salmon egg Benny and she thought it was a bit salty. My other friend ordered the same thing as mine but they messed up her poached eggs. She wanted it runny, and it wasn't. Overall the food was good. There is hardly any decor and the atmosphere can be loud. If the wait time was less, it would have been better. I guess this place is "eat and go." read more
They just opened a new location in my neighborhood, decided to try their original OG location in Unionville, gotta pay my respects to the OG. Smaller place with 6 tables and country space for those who like sitting on stools. Service staff very polite and courteous, if only they could provide customer service training to those in need, the restaurant scene would be a much better place. Nice background chill music to chillax to, not too loud but enough sound to get your groove on while eating your chicken & waffles. Ordered their infamous chicken & waffles and shrimp cake Benny. The chicken & waffles were both crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Gave me 3 chicken legs, luckily I prefer dark meat over white meat. Batter used for chicken did not have any extra seasoning or herbs, straight up crispy batter. Came with a small serving of plain maple syrup and a sweet chili infused maple syrup dipping sauce. The shrimp benny eggs were perfect, runny and not over cooked, would have preferred a little more hollandaise sauce. Looking forward to hitting up their new location by Thornhill read more
Very busy place and parking is tight. The food is scrumptious and the hot drinks are superb. The food came fast and the servers are really nice and helpful. It's a small place and it was busy on a weekday but we didn't have to wait. I loved my smoked salmon egg Benedict and the spinach pasta, omg so creamy and delicious. read more
Happy to see a lot of new brunch places open up over the last few years, but went back to one of my old favs @alchemy.ca in Markham! Their interior is still cozy but menu has expanded a lot compared the last time I visited. Tried the Duck Benny and Shrimp Benny, both were really good! Eggs were poached perfectly! However, found the potatoes on the salty side. Service was quick and love that they also have live waitlist on Yelp too! read more
Have heard amazing things about this spot for the longest time and I finally got to check it out!! It definitely lived up to my expectations. I'm not sure if maybe the AC was broken the day I went but it was very hot inside Aside from the heat, the food was very delicious!! I personally tried out their salmon benny and it was so good!! The potatoes it came with were super crispy, and the salad was good as well. My friend said that her chicken & waffles were also very tasty. I would definitely return to try out their pastas or other items on the menu!! Also a side note that the parking lot is quite small and the restaurant itself doesn't have much seating. I can imagine that they get quite full on the weekends. read more
April 15, 2023 - I was here a few years ago. Not sure why I didn't write a review :'( Well I went back again with my friend and we both enjoyed our brunch. We ordered: 1 Duck Benny 1 Salmon Benny 2 Matcha Tea Latte We shared our food and I replay liked both the salmon and duck. Cant really say which I enjoyed more. The Matcha Tea Latte was very good. The staff was nice and always checked in on us. We sat at the window, it was very funny sometimes as people who were waiting for seats would stare into the window and almost plant their faces on it to see if there were any free seats. Felt like I was watching a sight gag (silent comedy). read more
The quality at the place still remains the same! I ordered the Breakfast Sandwich with the London Fog Latte and waited about 10 minutes for the order as there were many orders before me. The Breakfast Sandwich tasted amazing, and love the bun itself. There were bacon, eggs, caramelized onions. The eggs were a little moist , and wished it would be cooked more dried. That's just my preference. I also liked that the sandwich comes with salad with flavourful dressing. The London Fog latte was amazing together with the breakfast. It was a good breakfast! read more
Recommended by my girlfriend, we went to Alchemy for a girl's brunch,. There are only two tables of four, and the rest are tables of two....or sitting at a bar style around the wall. Total restaurant seats 26, so it's quite small. We immediately came on yelp and added ourselves to the waiting list, very handy! A lineup formed quickly, and we waited for about :30. Super nice server and the menu is great! We had the smoked salmon, duck and peameal bacon Eggs Benedict dishes ...all super yummy. The food is outstanding! Eggs perfectly poached and the sauce is not too salty or runny. Paired with some fresh greens and roasted potatoes. I also had an iced coffee, which was flavourful and delicious. Because of the small space, the washroom is also a supply room, which turns me off big time, but what can you do, right? One more insight is that parking is horrible. Very limited spots and most are reserved for other businesses. This place definitely could use a better location. It's way too good to be in this limited, tiny space! read more

Get on the wait list asap to avoid long waits for parties of 3 or more! Cozy brunch spot which also seems to make great coffee/lattes by the number of people coming in just for that! I got their HOJICHA LATTE with oat milk (4/5) but do stir it up or else it gets really grainy at the bottom. I had the SHRIMP CAKE EGGS BENNY(4/5) was very savoury and poached egg done to perfection. I thought it was silly that they didn't allow me to substitute my potatoes for more greens unless I paid extra. In their defence, the home fries were good, golden crisp on the outside, just quite filling. My friend also got the STEAK & EGGS. Not much steak but there was a MOUNTAIN of eggs! Very generous portions and filling good brunch overall! read more

It's been a few years since my last visit to Alchemy. Unfortunately, the taste of the food did not quite live up to my memories. We ordered the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benny and the Carbonara Pasta, the latter of which was at the recommendation of our waitress. The smoked salmon was quite flavourful and distinct. It cut through the richness of that creamy egg yolk. Their house fries were perfectly crispy without being burnt on the outside, nor dry on the inside. A generous portion to accompany the already filling Benny to say the least. Sadly, I was not a fan of the underlying english muffin for the Benny. At first, I thought the muffin was a bit tender from the creamy egg yolk and sauteed portobello mushrooms. However, after deconstructing the Benny a little bit, I was shocked to see that the english muffin did not appear to be toasted! The lack of different textures from the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benny ruined the experience for me - every bite just felt soggy, and every consecutive bite just felt even soggier despite the delicious flavours. The Carbonara Pasta was simple, creamy, and delicious. The saltiness of the bacon helped to cut the richness of the dish. I do wish the bacon was cooked a little bit crispier, again, to provide a different layer of textures within the dish. For drinks, we ordered the Cappuccino, Flat White, and the Hojicha Latte. All of which were delicious. A minor unsettling experience was that the Cappuccino was filled to the brim of the cup, and actually overflowing to the point where the waiter needed to line the coaster with a napkin. If I was at a Tim Hortons/Starbucks, I wouldn't have minded the full cup for the value. However, I was slightly disappointed at being served the overflowing Cappuccino at a sitdown cafe. It didn't affect the flavour of the drink, but did ruin the aesthetic of the coffee - I wish the barista would have brewed another cup instead of serving the full cup with spillover. read more
Would definitely recommend this place!!! Really cozy, intimate and chill vibes. Incredible pancakes! Perfect fluff and not overly sweet. I ordered a cafe latte and London fog latte and the drinks were perfection. Food came out fairly quick and hot. Really happy with the experience here. I'm certainly going to be a regular. read more
Alchemy offers your standard brunch fare and delicious lattes. Worth a visit if you're in the mood for simple brunch foods! In particular, the salmon benny was good with the portbello but the sauce can use a bit more zing. Potatoes were done with a nice light crisp and very well seasoned. The restaurant is fairly limited in seating so you may find a line up during the usual peak hours. Service is very quick though so it's clear they have this optimized well. read more
I've had this restaurant bookmarked forever and finally had the opportunity to try it out. The parking lot is small and there's signs posted that certain spots are for certain establishments so keep an eye out to ensure you're parking where you should be. The restaurant is very small with high top seating along the window and one wall and tables dispersed in between that and the counter. The menu is located on the wall which could be difficult for those sitting by the window to see. We went with the chicken and waffles and salmon benny. Since both dishes came with salad it was a bit odd that one had dressing and the other did not. The waffle was too crispy for my taste. I prefer my waffles to be softer and not so hard/crispy. The fried chicken was okay but I've had better fried chicken before. The salmon benny was just right and the potatoes seasoned well. For myself the restaurant was overhyped and did not live up to my expectations. read more
Solid breakfast place. We went on a weekday at 10am so no waiting in line for us. We ordered the Duck Confit Eggs Benny and Pork Belly and Eggs. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Side salad dressing was light and refreshing. My favourite is the pork belly, it just melts in your mouth. The cortado was also very good. I finally came here on a Wednesday for some brunch as this place has been on my list to visit for the longest time. The restaurant itself is pretty small, with very limited seating. I think there were around 5-6 tables, plus some bar seating. It's definitely a place to go for small gatherings of 2-3 parties. Closer to the end of my visit, it started getting busier, and there was a short line. I came with a party of 3 and we ordered the Pork Belly Open-Faced Omelette, Smoked Salmon Eggs Benny, and the Carbonara Pasta. The presentation of each dish was very pretty, but for each price, we thought the portions would be a bit bigger. The food wasn't too hot either once we received it. The flavours and quality were good though. I also tried the Peaches and Cream latte. The flavours were great, you could really taste the peach, but once again, my drink was not hot. The other people in my party ordered coffee, and when we asked for another refill of coffee, the server stated that we can only get 1 refill. We're just used to getting unlimited refills from other brunch spots, but we were okay with this! Overall, I would come here to get some work done and have a drink with a friend. Ever since Alchemy opened it's been the hot spot for brunch. There's a reason why. Everything there is delicious! I love the salmon eggs Benedict and the salad. Even the salad dressing has great taste. All the drinks especially the London fog is perfectly made. You can't go wrong ordering anything off the menu. I also enjoy their unique fusion of Asian flavours with western brunch. read more
