    Duck Benedict with a Latte
    Cin C.

We came on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch, and this place was bustling full. We had placed ourselves on the waitlist while driving here and had wait for around 20 minutes before being seated as they were completely packed. We're definitely recommend using the waitlist function so it cuts down on your wait time. We got the Duck Benedict and the Chicken Waffles. Both were freshly prepared and well-made, and were great brunch items. Service was a little slow, but understandable due to it being so busy.

If it was no the coffee that was up to standard, I would have given zero star. The service was just poor. Two groups waiting in line at the very small and narrow entrance while the staffs did not even bother to clean up the few tables with guests already left. The group before me waited for 30 minutes just waiting someone to clean the empty tables so that they could sit. Definitely not planning to visit again.

I always get their chicken and waffles, it's soooo good!! Recently tried their French toast and it was also very yummy. I always get some type of latte or coffee drink when I come here because their coffee is so strong. Always hits the spot! The cafe is pretty small though so expect a bit of a wait if you go on weekends.

Fresh and tasty, massive amounts and colorful. The owner is a very polite and generous man and takes pride in his work. Small sociable and cozy place.

A busy brunch location that serves a rather small menu of bennys, spaghetti and a couple other dishes. I have been to their Richmond hill location and this is the first time at the Markham one. There is less seating in this location, but the service seems better. The servers allow us to wait by the bar seats before claiming 1of 6 tables in the establishment, or you can choose to just eat at the bar tables. Sausage egg benny - An egg benny with a breakfast sausage on an English muffin with a side of potatoes and salad. Salad was good. Potatoes were over fried and was not seasoned as well as I remembered. The sausage benny on English muffin combination was a bit disappointing. The muffin felt soggy and heavy didn't contribute anything to the combination. The sausage was well seasoned and didn't feel too oily which was nice. On the egg benny was also good, but didn't mesh well with the sausage. Individual components on its own was good, together it was disappointing. Alchemy is a great place to try with unique dishes, but their menu hasn't changed since my last visit. Unlikely to visit either locations again due to the lack of innovation with their dishes.

Came by for a coffee the other day and it was a decent experience. Parking was available in the private lot. The windows could use a deep clean though... Ordered a mocha at the counter and it was decent. Despite using whole milk, the mocha tasted a touch watery. The chocolate wasn't too sweet and quite tasty. The latte art was great, temperature of the drink was good and the foaming was perfect. ~$6 after tax for a mocha. Cash and debit card accepted.

I came here for coffee as I had been here a few times in the past. I had good experiences before. As I was waiting for my lattes, I was looking at the meals coming out. Eggs Benedict was what most people were ordering, presentation looked really nice, meals are $15 and above. My lattes came, but unfortunately my latte didn't taste the way I remembered it to be, coffee flavour wasn't strong enough, it seemed as if the portion of coffee wasn't enough, too much milk to coffee ratio. I'm hoping the next time I come back it will be back up to par as before.

Alchemy coffee is a cute brunch spot. I came here with some friends for a Saturday brunch. We signed up for the online waitlist and got a spot within 5-10 minutes. They have some tables as well as some bar seating. We were sat at the bar but that worked for us. I got the duck benny with a matcha latte. The matcha latte was pretty good. The duck benny was good as well but I wish the duck itself was a little more flavourful. The benny came with potatoes and salad.

Alchemy Coffee 4361 Hwy 7 Unit 1, Unionville, ON This little cozy cafe is def one of my fav brunch places and certainly a neighbourhood Featuring brunch dishes with a bit of a twist - they have an extensive menu that caters to every craving! From pork belly to chicken/duck waffles , to pasta and duck/shrimp Benny, there is something for everyone! Their coffees and lattes are also spot on and they do also have tea lattes (London fog, matcha) as well They do get busy but I love how they have a Yelp waitlist so that I don't have to head there until my table is almost ready. Not the most kid friendly space since it's such a small capacity but they do have a second location in Richmond hill with a bigger space!

Alchemy use to be my go to cafe but their quality went down. Came here on a weekday morning and it wasn't too busy but the food still arrived cold. The potatoes were cold not crispy at all and the Benedict was over cooked, no runny yolk. We also got the chicken and waffles. The chicken was juicy but no flavour. I think they rely on the sauces which tasted like bottled Thai sweet sauce.

Alchemy has always been an amazing brunch spot with savory takes on some standard brunch items, in addition to their own creations. The staff is very kind and service is very quick. Love the natural colour decor to give it a very warm and welcoming rustic feel.

3.5 Alchemy what happened? Used to be so amazing!! Came on a rainy weekend and so glad they have the Yelp waitlist so we were able to get a place in line while on the way to the cafe. We got seated at a table by the door and their coffees are great as usual. I ordered a houjicha latte and it was a perfect sweetness level. Our table got two variations of their eggs benny (smoked salmon and house made sausage patty) and the chicken and waffles. The chicken and waffles arrived at the table first and the chicken was fried well and super crispy. The waffles were very light, airy and more crispy than expected and not sweet at all (they do provide a small cup of syrup). The poached eggs on the bennys were very disappointing on this occasion. They were over cooked and not runny at all :( I did enjoy the home made sausage patty though and it did have a slight spicy kick. Overall, I hope this was a one off experience regarding the eggs and that next time I can get some oozing egg yolk!!

3.5 STARS mr. Tran wanted "brunch" so we ordered from Alchemy Coffee thru Ubereats. I got the steak and eggs and he got the duck benny. My steak was medium done, with scrambled eggs, 1 whole toast cut in half, a side salad and mushroom sauce. Steak was chewy and a tad bit tough, scrambled eggs was bland, but the salad was good and so was the mushroom sauce. mr. Trans' duck benny looked good, it came with two egg benny, a side salad, and a side of roasted potatoes. I took a bite of his duck benny, it was good, but the alfalfa sprouts overwhelmed the whole taste of the duck benny. The potatoes were crispy and the sauce it came with was delicious. Would probably try again at the restaurant.

The tower was beautifully presented and what I love most about the tower is their pancakes. Truly fluffy and light with whipped cream on top of it. Overall, service was efficient and attentive, often checked on and refilling water. On top of that, the restaurant has great decor and parking is provided in the back of the restaurant. I must say that I do understand why people are drawn to the restaurant - it is very pretty and makes for wonderful pictures! This includes the lovely visuals of the food, which is beautifully presented and extremely photogenic. The taste of the food, although quite acceptable, fell just a bit short of its looks. The variety of colours was not matched with a variety of flavours, and everything was somewhat on the salty and greasy side. That being said, we very much enjoyed the potato hash, pancakes, and French toast. The portion sizes also outdid themselves - if you're coming here for brunch, just be prepared for a long nap in the afternoon! Service was excellent: prompt, helpful, and friendly. The interior is fairly spacious and elegantly decorated. Overall, a pleasant experience even if it's not the most spectacular - and perhaps worth a visit for some based on the aesthetics alone.

Initially we were going for the idea of breakfast, but timing was a bit off from what we anticipated and it was a really nice lunch date instead. I love the Markham Marriott, the staff is always warm and welcoming. Draco has a very sleek, sophisticated and cozy atmosphere. We both ordered Bacon & Cheddar burgers. I opted for a Caesar salad as an appetizer and hubby ordered their Grilled Wagyu Flat Iron Steak. Let's start with the apps. The Caesar salad was SO good! I wish I had taken a pic, but admittedly, my phone was tucked away and I was caught up in the cozy seating, great food and Christmas vibes of the restaurant and lobby. Grilled Wagyu Flat Iron Steak: $33 - Buttercup Squash Puree and Truffle Oil - Everything you want Wagyu to be - tender, cooked to the perfect temp which left a nice warm red centre. This was melt in your mouth good! The burgers - these were perfection! Draco Bacon Cheddar Burger: $25 - Aged Cheddar with Crispy Bacon Strips; Crispy Onion Straws, Arugula and Garlic Aioli. This was a very well seasoned patty, so juicy and a substantial sized patty of fresh not frozen beef. The bun was lightly toasted, bacon crispy, easily taking this into my top 3 fav spots for burgers! Options for sides include fries, sweet potato fries, poutine, side Caesar or garden salad or truffle fries. We finished off our meal with 2 really good cappuccinos and just took our time before heading home. This was our first time back here in a few years. The food was exceptional as was the service and the warm staff. Draco is the perfect spot for an early morning breakfast, work or lunch date or a nice cozy dinner. They also have Christmas & New Years dinners and brunches. Relax in the restaurant with drinks or in the adjacent lounge, this is a great spot to unwind with some great food and drinks.

You pass through a charming patio to enter, which was shaded nicely thanks to the size of the Shoppers building. Given the recent heatwave, we opted to sit indoors. We were greeted at the door and offered the choice between a two-person table tucked farther inside or a four-person table closer to other diners. We chose the smaller table for a bit more privacy and ease of conversation. Menus were provided right away, followed shortly by tap water. When our server checked in to ask about drinks, we let her know we were fine with just water. Later, when we were ready to order, she came promptly when we called her over. A standout moment: we ordered just one smoothie, and she kindly asked if we were sharing, then offered to split it into two cups without us even asking. A thoughtful and appreciated gesture. The Pineapple Banana Smoothie was a highlight. It was perfectly balanced between sweet and tart, and incredibly refreshing. My sister ordered the Halloumi Benedict. She noted that while the waffles leaned toward a sweeter flavor on their own, the combination of waffle, egg, and halloumi was well-balanced and worked beautifully together. The egg was jammy and spot-on in terms of taste, texture, and presentation. I had the Fully Loaded, which features a potato waffle topped with bacon bits, sour cream, chives, and cheese. It leaned a bit salty, but not overwhelmingly so, still quite enjoyable overall. I loved the potato waffle which has the slightly crispy edges but was soft to bite with a texture that resembled mash potatoes. As someone who isn't usually crazy about waffles, which was such a nice alternative. Each of our mains came with a side salad (lightly dressed and refreshing) and a choice of fruit salad, maple baked beans, or potato salad. We both chose the fruit salad, which was impressively varied with orange, grapefruit, watermelon, blueberry, blackberry, and banana. Note: Payment is cash or debit only.

My boyfriend got the Gochujang Chicken and Waffles with a juice (I believe it was lychee), and I got the Char Siu Benedict with a Hojicha Latte. The portion was much bigger than we had expected for the Gochujang Chicken and Waffles, which was definitely the highlight of the entire meal because this is a DEFINITE MUST TRY for the sweet/savoury combo lovers out there (note: the chicken wasn't a large thigh or two like other brunch restaurants we have been to, but rather chunks of chicken that were perfectly tossed in the gochujang). The Char Siu Benedict was also amazing, and I got truffle fries and a side salad. The Hojicha latte was recommended by not only the staff but also another diner who was seated next to us, and I definitely loved the rich flavour of the Hojicha. It's extremely popular (always full) but the tables move quite quickly, so yes - while you most likely need to stay in line if you come during the weekends, you don't have to wait for long if you're on a cute brunch date for two. A few pros and cons about this place: Cons: 1) ordered the bulgogi benedict, and to be fair, it was not very impressive. While the English muffins underneath were toasted to perfection - crispy and soft, I was not impressed by the bulgogi/benedict. The thing about hollandaise sauce is that it's powerful, rich and creamy. What goes well with it needs to add another dimension of powerful flavour profiles, which is why it's usually paired with smoked proteins (smoked salmon, peameal bacon, pulled pork etc). While I love Bulgogi, it's usually sweet, refreshing that goes well with flavour neutral side such as plain rice (or bread, fries). When I had my Bennies, I could barely taste any of the bulgogi and it was a disappointment to me (it just tasted like an egg on an English muffin). 2) the size is quite small for its price (CAD 22). If you think the two bennies as one sandwich, it'd be a small English muffin. That's very pricy. Pros: 1) the "spicy" home fries were extremely well done. The flavour profiles were well delivered, with caramelized onions and pepper pieces mixed in. I had a great time enjoying them. 2) I enjoyed the drip coffee quite a bit. It was very fresh and the beans they used had a nice balance of acidity and bitterness. Very satisfying. 3) the service was superb. I really really appreciated my servers (Gabriella and Alan). They were extremely efficient while being attentive and friendly. I gauge that the servers are the primary reason why the restaurant, tho being extremely popular, still has a steady speed to move the lines and customers. Extremely impressive comparing to all other diners I've been to when it comes to service. Because of the servers and the home fries, I'd give it a four stars while the food/pricing need some works. I may come back sometime soon to try other items on the menu.

The mala cream udon was really tasty, I loved the creaminess, cheesiness, and the addition of Chinese pork and spices but it also felt like something that could be make at home. The tuna tataki came with only three pieces for $22, which felt quite small for the price. The flavors were good, but the portion was underwhelming. My favorite was probably the Basque cheesecake it had a rich, creamy texture with a slight hint of saltiness. The Korean fried chicken sliders were also great, the crispy chicken with a well-balanced sauce. For drinks, we got the Zazatar and Golden Pear, and both were really good. The Zazatar, in particular, was quite strong which I liked. While the food was enjoyable, it didn't quite feel worth the price. For this style of food, I think you could find similar options and flavors at a more reasonable price point elsewhere in Markham. Nothing of the dishes like blow me away which is why I'm saying this. The staff were very kind and attentive, which I appreciated. However, the timing of the dishes was a bit off. We received and finished the tuna, then the sliders came out, followed by the udon. Finished that and then we waited about 15-20 minutes before my main (the chawanmushi) arrived, which by that point my partner had already long finished eating. I understand that chawanmushi takes longer to prepare since it's steamed, but a heads-up or better coordination with the rest of the dishes would have been nice. Like severing the appetizers at the same time and serving the mains at the same time. Instead of having the dishes come out one by one and such a long wait between the mains. The space itself is beautiful, with an upscale vibe, great for catching up I don't regret trying it, but it's probably not somewhere I'd return to.
