I'm not sure if maybe the AC was broken the day I went but it was very hot inside Aside from the heat, the food was very delicious!! I personally tried out their salmon benny and it was so good!! This place is intriguing due somewhat in part to the sheer number of photos and reviews. It's tiny (6 tables), hidden away (when driving east it's easy to miss) and packed. My BFF is an eggs benny fan so she immediately came to mind as the perfect person to have brunch here with. On a Saturday around lunch hour there was a 10-15 minute wait shortened slightly when we agreed to share a table of four with another pair. This was a great idea until we were ignored for the next 10 minutes because the waitress thought we had already ordered. The menu is on the wall and they seem to be known for the various types of eggs benny, pancakes and chicken and waffles. The drink menu has most of your common coffee and tea options. My friend ordered the salmon benny which looked fresh and apparently tasted amazing. The portion was a great size and I can see why it's a popular option. Good place for brunch. It's one of my go-to whenever I'm craving a good brunch place. Their chicken and waffles are delicious and so is the eggs Benny. Hope they are back on the Yelp app for the live wait times and table request. Service could be a little more professionally managed by having less people crowd the area of the entrance by having someone at the front door making sure people's names are taken down if they want to sit or if they want to do takeout. It creates a huge backup and people waiting outside doesn't know if the people in the store already been taken care of or they are just standing there waiting for a table to be ready. I made a reservation over the phone for last Saturday and wasn't told the table was only going to be held for 10mins. For someone who's coming from home and told the wait time is 45 mins... and then to get a call early that table is ready... how does one expect to get there within 10mins? At least warn the customer that you only hold tables for 10mins. This was in no way communicated to me until, I got there in 15mins rushing and was told they only hold table for 10 and that I will be put to the bottom of the list. Ok, this little gem of a place has been one of my top go to places for Chicken and Waffles. Firstly, the crunch of the waffles is as how I like it. The chicken is dark meat (boned it), so if you are team white meat... the best place to go to would be elephant grind. I prefer the dark meat. The crispiness of the chicken is just right! My first qualm was with the English muffin it was on, it ain't toasted which makes it quite difficult to slice with the provided butter knife. Second complaint, that raw kale. I don't get it...why RAW? Imo, lightly sauteed kale with some seasoning would've made this dish much better. Kale doesn't really give you that crunch factor if that was the reasoning for adding it (nor does it really add any flavour). Also , the amount of portabello mushrooms were weak today. Alchemy Cafe is a really wonderful addition to Markham. It's right on Highway 7, in a small plaza strip. There is some parking on the outside, but not many directly in front of the store. On the billboard outside, Alchemy Coffee sign is very small, so it's very easy to miss but once you go inside and eat their food, you'll realize it's a gem! You really have to come either right after the morning rush or the afternoon rush. Coming here on a regular weekday for lunch, this place still have lineups - which amazed me. There's not many seats inside, a few tables in the middle and a few bar chairs along the window. I ordered the chicken and waffles with a salad side for $16. There was one whole waffle separated per slice, and three pieces of fried drumstick with a delicious salad about a quarter to a third of the plate in size. Proportions were fair! The drumsticks were not too oily, but just crispy on the outside with a juicy inside. I'm not a big fan of coffee or drinks, but it's something I see many people order. There are also pasta dishes for selection at a fair size as well! He's still wary of dine-in but we're very happy to learn that Alchemy has heightened safety protocol with regards to cleanliness and how you are served. For starters, they only have about 6 tables at one time and everyone is spread out far beyond the 6ft distance. You're also told to line up outside until they call your group in. You may ask for water/cutlery/condiments and everything will be brought to your table. They have a contact tracing binder where you fill out your contact info. The servers were helpful and attentive to our needs. Boyfriend ordered steak and eggs while I ordered the pulled pork Benny. I quite enjoyed both meals and with a regular coffee (they help add the milk, sugar), tax, tip the total came to 51.04. How did the food taste? Quite scrumptious! To start, we had the chicken wings with wasabi aioli, beef tartare, and torched salmon with lotus root chips. They were all very tasty, but the chicken wings were my personal favourite! They were fried perfectly, juicy and crispy, and the wasabi aioli gave it a nice kick! For the mains, we tried the beef bourguignon (stew) and the pork center loin with sweet potato apple puree. These were both delicious! The beef was tender and the dish came with fried rice and a sunny side egg. The pork loin was so juicy and tender, not dry at all! And it paired so well with the puree - such a unique and flavourful dish! The dessert was a housemade brioche with lemon coconut ice-cream, strawberry puree, walnut meringue, and roasted white chocolate. All of the different components of this dessert came together in such a heavenly combination! Would definitely recommend to not skimp out on the dessert!! Really cute breakfast cafe here (they stop serving food at 3pm). Subtly off of highway 7- had a hard time finding parking so good luck with the limited spaces! Upon entering you'll notice it's a smaller space with a very low number of tables. Luckily we went at 10:30 and got the last table for 4 people. For food, we ordered the salmon eggs Benedict, spinach pasta, chicken and waffles, and drinks. I had the best salmon eggs Benedict here, great portion size with salad and potatoes. The chicken and waffles was good as well but a bit heavier with all the waffles- could not finish them sadly. And the pasta was very tasty but I only wish we could've added some protein in there for extra taste and texture! Despite the majority Chinese clientele, this place whips up a very Westernized hipster breakfast. Yes, avocado is on the menu. And quinoa, kale, matcha... And I gotta say, I'm thoroughly impressed! Good brunch places in the burbs are few and far apart. I wouldn't call this the most comfortable brunch experience, given its tiny space and limited seating, but it certainly falls into the category of comfort food. Like a fast food place, you order your food from a board up front. Unlike a fast food place, it is then brought out to where you're sitting. Lemon water is self serve. And the food. Well. Let's break it down. - Pan-Fried Shrimp, Avocado, Roasted Carrots Open Faced Omelette: Divine. I got it without cheddar because I was trying to be "healthy", and it still tasted great (though probably better with some cheese). Even the accompanying salad was good. - Blueberry Pancakes: Nothing better than surprise pancakes ordered to share by the person footing the bill. These came fluffy, full of blueberries, topped with corn flakes, and with a little bottle of condensed milk to drizzle. - Smoked Salmon, Portobello, Kale Eggs Benny: Got these on my return trip to Alchemy 3 days after my initial visit and said "screw trying to be healthy, I'm on vacation". I'm patting myself on the back for this decision. Everything worked together in a savoury explosion. One Sunday morning, we decided to eat out. I came upon this restaurant with pretty good reviews. We went pretty early and was shocked that there was already a line up outside. Upon further inspection, i saw that the place was really small with probably just seating for 30. After about a wait of fifteen minutes we were finally seated. It also came with honey and some hot sauce for dipping. Buttermilk pancakes: were stacked pretty high. They were light and fluffy and came with homemade berry compote. Smoked salmon eggs benny: this was probably my favourite dish. Big pieces of smoke salmon, perfectly poached eggs, nice consistent hollandaise sauce. Overall the experience was very good. Food was amazing, probably one of the best breakfast i have had. The only set back for me is the small, cramped space. For a customer it is a turnoff when you have to wait a long time for breakfast.
