Really enjoyed the specialty lattes here, with creative latte art :) The drinks menu is large- there is different something for everyone. The lox bagel was also nicely done, made with Montréal bagel. There are a few other breakfast/brunch items, as well as, pastries/sweets. Really cozy space for relaxing and catching up with friends. There is a seating limit of 75 mins... I guess it applies on crazy busy hours :p Service felt a bit abrupt... perhaps staff was having a bad day *shrugs*
Stae is a little cafe up on Copper Creek. It's relaxing, lovely, and VERY busy. One thing to note is that they're not like a restaurant where you get seated. It is very much a cafe where you grab your own seat and during peak hours, it's very hard to do that. Fortunately, they've also implemented a 75 min seating limit which helps. Stae specializes in beverages, but they also serve some brunch items and pastries. For autumn, they had a seasonal menu so I went with their Corn Hojicha Latte. As someone who loves Chinese corn drinks, I was a little sad it wasn't more corny. But the Hojicha was nice and roasty. As for brunch, my friends and I tried the Poke Toast and the Spicy Eggplant Sammy. Both were very good! The Eggplant Sammy had good portions and was quite the comfort food. The Poke Toast was bright and flavourful and I liked the jammy egg they added. My biggest regret is forgetting to grab a cookie to-go. Their cookies look bomb, with huge chocolate chunks and a chewy texture. Hoping to comment on that next time!
Small and cozy cafe with some premium coffee, and tea offerings. They also have a seasonal menu for drinks. They also serve food. Hojicha Latte - Good roasted tea flavour and balanced with milk. Tea did settle pretty quickly, so got to keep mixing or drink it quick. Corn Hojicha Latte - Added corn flavour to the hojicha. The added syrup helped reduce the settling as well. Fun to try. Will have to come by and try their food menu.
Still one of my favourite cafes in Markham! I don't often get the chance to stop by this area, but whenever I do, I try to pop by Stae Cafe for one of their gorgeous & delicious lattes. The latte art here is incredible. They also have a wide variety of lattes from espresso-based lattes (e.g., regular, Spanish) to tea lattes (hojicha, 3 types of matcha lattes, butterfly pea). It's a perfect spot to chill, chat, or do some light work. The cafe can get quite busy though and finding parking can be tricky, but they have a 75min seating time limit to allow more customers to enjoy the space.
Finally had a chance to try this cafe. Lovely little spot located in the Copper Creek neighbourhood. The cafe is nice and warm and very welcoming. Drinks are smooth and sweetened just enough. I ordered the Spanish latte and it was really nice with the cinnamon coming through and condensed milk to making it creamy. The Stae Bagel was also delicious, all the flavours balanced quite beautifully. The food is a bit pricey for what it is, but its a nice treat once in a while.
Hands down one of my absolute favourite local coffee shop in Markham beautiful shop and ambience with relaxing music I love their pour over options and staff are usually great with their recommendations. Their lattes are also amazing esp Spanish, lavender oat and London fog - they have lactose free milk options too :) They also have a nice brunch menu too. Stae bagel and poke toast are my favourites! Bonus - for moms: they have high chairs AND a diaper change table in their washroom!
A small Asian inspired cafe with seating for 20 max located near 9th line. They have a menu that changes by season. I tried the black sesame French toast. Imagine my shock when it came it was one slice of toast divided in half. Came with sprinkles of dehydrated banana and maybe ? one full raspberry. Now I'm all for the artistic vision but this was really mid in my opinion. How are you going to charge $15 for one slice of bread, I know times are tough but dang. On top of that, the black sesame filling was so light I could barely taste it. I would never order this again as if I did I will consider that as robbing myself. Rating: 4/10 Stae Bagel: 8/10. This bagel was really delicious and packed with veggies and smoked salmon. I would definitely order it again. Additionally, the table next to me complained the pork meat on the sandwich they ordered wasn't cooked properly so that was not a vibe. All in all I would be back to try other things because the menu is interesting. But don't expect to leave here being full as it's a cafe more for drinks.
A cute cafe that is all the vibes with delicious drinks. Came for a weekend work session with some friends and it was busy in the morning before noon! There's also not a lot of outlets other than at the high top area, so keep that in mind if you're planning to work here all day, your laptop may run out of battery. Got the matcha latte which was great! Good matcha taste and had a beautiful green colour. Ube latte was also delicious and had a beautiful purple colour. We also got a french toast item to share, which wasn't that great so can probably pass on that. However, I'm interested to try their other food items in the future as it looks amzing!
We love dining at Stae Cafe when we are in the area. They have a good selection of breakfast options as well as different drinks. On our most recent visit I tried their new iced strawberry matcha latte as well the strawberry matcha French toast. Both were delicious. My husband had the smoked salmon bagel and he really enjoyed that as well. Seating is a bit limited so if you come during peak hours expect a wait or might need to take out the food instead. Some tips - You can collect points and earn free baked goods, coffee, etc. They also have high chairs for little ones.

Coffee was good, Spanish latte is light, a little sweet and not dulled by the milk. Steak banh mi was good. It had a nice acidity flavour with the steak and veggies. Bun was on a 3/10 toast level so mostly soft with a nice chew. Was maybe a little too much garlic aioli for me, but more sauce is rarely ever complained about. Flavour was nice but something texturally inside was gritty for me. Not sure if it was the pate or the garlic aioli, but still overall a good sandwich. Longanisa sandwich was pretty textbook. Soft bun, Longanisa sausage and an egg loaf. I just wish they would have thrown a little twist on it by adding a vinegar dressing or something acidic to balance out the flavour. Decent sandwich but didn't have anything special about it. Overall worth trying. Worth sitting in if there's space. Vibe gives very modern cafe with a bright atmosphere.

I have visited Stae Cafe a handful of times and they have yet to disappoint. From their customer service to their latte art to their unique seasonal menus. I have tried their - Americano -flat white -blue pea flower latte -matcha latte -spanish latte -strawberry matcha cold drink -matcha white chocolate cookie And have enjoyed all of them! Each drink served with the perfect madeline on the side. Visiting is always an enjoyable addition to nice sunny walks in the Boxgrove area... but pricey! read more
Found this place purely by doing a broad search for brunch in the area and we were so pleased. Luckily, my friend got us a table just before another party showed up....seating is super limited and there is a 90 min seating time limit. Understandable though, because it's so peaceful and pleasant that you would totally stay longer and hog the table Our group of four ordered lattes and matchas. My regular latte was really delicious, I'm avoiding sugar and it was my best option. The foam designs were so intricate and different for each drink, super lovely. They added a little treat that complimented each drink. I had the chili avo toast and the jammy egg was perfect. Service was good and the staff were friendly. Parking is a little tricky. Because it's in a residential area, you park on the street. Thankfully it's a very long line of shoppes, so the street parking isn't too bad. I'd love to bring my matcha loving teen one weekend, I think she'd love it! read more

Went on a busy weekday morning. Nice latte with great service. A little noisy though. Not that easy to chat with others, as in the morning is usually crowded. Still recommended because both the drinks and service are great. read more

I'm back at Stae Cafe! It really never disappoints. I love it here. The people here are super friendly. Their drink selections are always on point and they keep updating them! That's what makes me coming back. The interior is stunning and so vibey. I just love it here as a "second" office. read more

Nice to see a cafe in the area. Even nicer that it is pretty good. Looks wise it's a nice little cafe. About 6 tables inside and 2 outside probably while the weather is still decent. Came in for lunch today. People working there are quite friendly and knowledgeable, offering suggestions. Starting with the drinks. I had an iced hojicha lemonade. This was quite tasty. Wasn't overly sweet if that is your thing and the hojicha balances out the sweet and sour from the lemonade. Price was not bad at around $5.50. For food me and my wife shared the spicy smoked salmon bagel and the mushroom and feta sandwich. Not quite sure which was my favourite. The smoke salmon bagel was delicious ($11) . There is a lot of flavour building in this . Loved the pickled ginger and the spicy mayo was not overly spicy. My wife could eat it, so it wasn't spicy. We both enjoyed it. There is also avocado in it and seasoned cucumbers. The mushroom and feta sandwich was very tasty, packed with a ton of mushrooms. The bread is like a Chinese milk bread and quite nice. It also comes with a scoop of their potato salad and some pickled carrots on the side. All in all cost was about $50 including tip for 2 drinks , 2 sandwiches and tip. Was a bit pricy for lunch but prices are fair for what you get. Would definitely go back as they have other sandwiches to try and quite a selection on the drink menu. read more
The drinks come with mini madeleines which are super cute! For all the serious coffee drinkers out there, you could tell the baristas know what they are doing. There were no seats left, so we got the food to-go. Even though we weren't eating in, the food's presentation was great and tasted great. Would 100% recommend this cafe! This is new so I came here with my family this morning for coffee and breakfast, definitely a hidden gem in this neighborhood. There are a few more coffee places around the area but this one has hot food and pastry available. Each coffee or drink comes with a mini Madeline. :) It has both indoor and outdoor (couple) tables. The food is AMAZING and coffee is great. We will definitely come back as it's very comfortable, great service with good food. read more
Late post! We stumbled upon this cute coffee shop, so we had to get some caffeine before heading back home. We got a regular and matcha pandan latte and omg the pandan latte was so delicious! I hope they bring it back coz I think it was part of their spring menu. Next time when I return, I'm definitely getting some of the matcha to make at home LOL Service was a little bit slow but it was just the owner, so it was ok. He was serving 5 customers at the same time. Best coffee shop on the east end! read more

I've been itching to visit Stae Cafe for a while after seeing one of my friends camp out here almost every week. With a new seasonal menu, there was no better time! We came here on a Easter Sunday and while it wasn't busy when we first arrived, it started piling up fast! The inside of the store is quite small and can seat about 15 people. The tables are quite large though, which is really nice for people who want to sit for a couple hours and do some work. You order at the counter and they will bring the food to your table when it's ready. We got the following items: - STAE bagel: Tasted like what I expected - delicious. Smoked salmon, cream cheese, arugula, and some onions and cucumbers. I find the "bagel sandwich" to be a lacking item in the Toronto/Markham food scene (maybe I'm just not looking hard enough) so I was very happy to see this here. 8/10 - STAE poke toast: At the first bite, I found it very fishy. I'm not sure if that's how it tastes usually but in comparison to the bagel above, it was a bit surprising. However, I'm not afraid of fishiness so I pushed through and it kind of grew on me mixed with the other toppings. I wished they did it with tuna poke to have a bit of variety as salmon is already in the STAE bagel. 7/10 - Sakura latte: We had this with oat milk. Quite interesting and had hints of a nice flower taste. Sweet but not overpowering. I probably would stick with coffee next time though as that's their specialty. 6/10 - Spanish latte: Fantastic. No wonder it's a fan favourite. Sweet and very strong, just how I like my coffee! Both drinks also came with a very teeny tiny Madeline cookie which was super cute and a nice touch! 9/10 Very cute cafe that's in the east side of Markham - I urge everyone to try it. The food was very delicious! I only wish it was bigger portions. The stae bagel is a toasted sesame bagel, whipped scallion cream cheese, greens, smoked salmon, cucumber, radish, shaved red onion, chili flakes, soy maple reduction. I loved every bite of it. Also got the honey dalgona latte which was very delicious and apart of the winter seasonal menu. I will come back for sure as I do love seasonal menus as they change it up and make me want to try the new seasonal menu! Service is superb, staff is super nice! Ambiance is simple but beautiful! read more
Pleasantly surprised at how great my latte was. I don't know why, but i didn't have high expectations when i went in. My latte was nice and strong with a great aftertaste. I pretty much guzzled my hot latte even though it was feeling like 30 outside. It came with a small Madeline which was nice and buttery. I wanted to try their cookies, but because i arrived 15 mins before closing, their baked goods case was pretty much empty. Hopefully next time i'm in the area (earlier), i'll get to try their baked goods as others have said they're delicious. Also they have a list of speciality lattes i want to try too. read more

A lovely coffee shop with good comfortable, clean and spacious seating. Staff is attentive, friendly and kind. I had the flat white and my friend got the specialty pour overs and both were good! The pour over was unique and they even warmed the cups to ensure the coffee temperature stays hot! read more
This is probably my most favourite cafe in Markham I love the ambience as soon as I entered the cafe. It is amazing and calming. I had a sourdough toast with mushrooms and Brie spread, drizzled with honey and balsamic dressing. They added candied lemon slices to make it more delightful. I also like the crunchy texture from almond. Loving every bite of my toast. This cafe is also known for matcha drinks. It has another menu that says the characteristics of each matcha. So I came with high hopes... The matcha menu is pretty expensive to me, so I opted for a medium-priced one for my matcha latte. Ikuyo Matcha: a medium bodied, sweet, right amount of bitterness... says on the menu. First thing first, I was quite disappointed when it arrived. I didn't expect to have matcha latte to be served in a plastic cup when staying-in. Visual-wise, not appealing. Environmentally friendly wise, no thanks. I took a sip of it and I was like hmm milk?! Because I tasted milk more than matcha. Matcha taste was subtle. I'm gonna give it another chance next time... and I'll order the most expensive one, just to see the difference with the most expensive one Don't get me wrong, I still like this cafe very much. If matcha latte here isn't my thing, then I'll just get coffee. read more

Dropped by for breakfast over the weekend after hearing that a new cafe had opened in the area. The space is bright and open with a few tables to sit at. The owner was friendly and knowledgeable. Good music, nice decor and good quality drinks/food. I got the flat white and croissant which was served to my table. They're also happy to heat up your pastry which is a nice touch. Really happy to have this cafe in the neighbourhood and looking forward to trying their weekend brunch in the future. read more

We have been on the hunt for some cute cafe spots in Markham, and found this hidden gem. This cafe has a small menu of drinks and food, as well as some table seating. We tried: 1. Smoked Salmon A smoked salmon bagel paired with cream cheese, dill, and onions. This bagel was quite filling and the toppings were generous. 2. Vegan Yogurt Bowl This dish had a vanilla yogurt base paired with granola, fruits, chai seed pudding and maple syrup. We found this bowl fresh and light. We also tried some drinks: - London fog - Vanilla latte These were great pairings to our food, and definitely satisfied our morning coffees. This cute cafe is a great spot to relax and get some work done. We enjoyed the atmosphere and didn't find it too busy or loud. @alot.eats read more
This is definitely our new favourite local gem with the tastiest pastries, great coffee/lattes and clean interiors with a touch of modern design. We haven't had the chance to try out every single drink but the Spanish latte is our favourite between my hubby and myself. The vanilla bean latte and hojicha latte is also very good. The Easter carrot cake was absolutely amazing (super moist) and we also tried the hummingbird cake with pineapple and coconut and that was really good too!! My little man always enjoys the bite size Madeline's that come with the hot drinks. The latte art is also very pretty. Thank you Louis! They will be offering brunch this coming Saturday on April 30th which I'm very excited to try!! Make sure to stop by if you're in the area. The ambiance is very cozy. A great place to do some work, have a coffee with a friend or hang out with family. read more
I had been wanting to try this place for a while. When I saw ube pancakes on the menu, I knew I had to go! The staff are very friendly, and although the place is small with a seating limit of 75 minutes, we didn't feel rushed to leave. I also ordered the iced hojicha, which had a strong, authentic flavor. The ube pancake was absolutely delicious and had a distinct ube taste. Overall, I enjoyed my experience, but I found the food items a bit pricey for the portion sizes, though the drinks are reasonably priced. read more

Fantastic café in Markham! I got the Iced Brown Sugar Foam Hojicha and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The atmosphere inside is fantastic. This place deserves much more recognition! UPDATE: I went back and tried the iced vanilla latte (in picture), and it was amazing. Perfect consistency, and super smooth. I highly recommend their Smoke Salmon Toast! It really hits every spot for a well-rounded, and savoury bite. It feels like walking into a cafe you expect to find in the Toronto downtown area with its modern design of a clean white hue, finished with tones of various wood ascents. It's a very cozy cafe to sit in and enjoy the ambience! What we ordered: Smoked salmon toast Spanish latte (iced) Choco latte (iced) Salted Chocolate cookie Every bite of the smoked salmon toast was pure joy. The smoked salmon was rounded with the soft sourdough toast, whipped cream cheese, lemon juice, while keeping it tasting fresh and alive with freshly cracked pepper, pickled asparagus and little sprinkles of dill. The Choco latte satisfies the sweet tooth in me without losing the caffeine profile. It's a bold coffee drink first, enveloped with quality chocolate. An instant classic for all you chocolate latte lovers. The Spanish latte was a really creamy coffee topped with cinnamon. It's more milk than coffee. The salted chocolate chip cookie was wide, flat and chewy. Come check it out if you like a modern cafe with high quality foods and provides a relaxing cafe ambience. Great cozy and chill place in Markham East area. I'm so glad that we have such a cute cafe on this side of the area. Friendly staffs with great hospitality. They offered free mini sundaes for myself and my little one on Mother's Day which was so sweet of them. The place was empty when we were there so we got the whole place to ourselves to chill out and reset (see what I did there). I'd come back to try out their brunch menu or enjoy another cup of coffee next time. read more
I get excited about aesthetics! As well as about great service and coffee. I was a bit distracted as the ambiance was really nice and unexpected, and I had limited time to enjoy my coffee as the cafe was closing soon... so I will need to come back and try out their latte! 5 stars for ambiance and service tho!!!
