This was part of our little city escape up north and we stopped here as a resting spot. I wasn't expecting much beyond a coffee break, but it turned out they focus more on alternative-style drinks. I went with the Medicinal Hot Chocolate and it caught me completely off guard in a good way. Cinnamon, cardamom, maple syrup, and Himalayan salt are not the usual suspects in a hot chocolate, but the mix worked surprisingly well. It was soothing, comforting, and felt like something made with intention. That said, anyone not familiar with the raw cocoa flavour might not immediately think of it as a traditional hot chocolate. The cafe itself is warm, scenic, and very welcoming. I really liked the decor, which feels like stepping into an old Canadian home with a lot of charm. It is the kind of place you could sit for a while without feeling rushed. I would definitely like to come back before winter sets in again.

We keep coming back every time we're in Toronto. The vibes are so cute, beautiful decor. If it's nice and warm- we always have a picnic outside, dogs and kids are very welcome! Coffee and food is awesome. We loved the chicken pesto panini and all the pastries and coffee we ordered. I'd skip the tuna wrap. Can't wait to come back!

The cafe was so cute! My friend and I went to do some work around 3pm on a Sunday and it was packed. Had to wait in line for a while but we luckily got a table inside. I got an iced chai that was super yum and a grilled cheese that was ok. Adorable place to take pics in and also to do work/sit around

Very good coffee and nicely decorated. Lots of options for drinks and pastries. It's quite squishy in there however, and staff walking past with hot coffee you while you're waiting in line. Fun place!

Love this cute quaint little coffee shop, located in the heart of King City. They have a beautiful backyard patio for when the weather is good, as well as lots of indoor seating for 2-4 people. They offer pilot coffee roasters coffee which is great. I normally order an espresso or long black when I visit. They have amazing soups, bowls, and other food options for lunch. As well as baked goods which include vegan options. And amazing vegan options I must say!

So cozy and quaint

This can easily be my favourite cafe if I lived in king city. We stumbled upon the roost cafe as we were in the area and in a seriously need of caffeine. Situated in what looks like a heritage home, this cafe is super quaint with a serene view of the valley. The decor is tastefully rustic which is very fitting to the location and view. I ordered an americano with blueberry almond cookie while the Mr. ordered a turmeric latte. The cookie is gluten free and freshly made each day. They also have other baked goods like butter tarts, croissants and even sandwich and soups. This is a hidden gem if king city!

Great contrast to your typical franchise chains. Homey vibes, great coffee, and a selection of sweets. Particularly fond of the local art for sale on the wall that doubles as decor.

They carry Pilot coffee, and have taken the time to send their staff to Te Aro for basic training in coffee.

I wanted to try a little bit of everything, so I went for their red velvet cookie, pistachio croissant, and cappuccino. The croissant was my favourite - flaky, buttery, and had just the right amount of pistachio filling. The cappuccino paired nicely with these pastries, though it was pretty standard. While the red velvet cookie was also tasty, I wish it was slightly chewier, but I loved that there was cream cheese frosting in the middle. This is one of those cafes that while the interior decor looks a bit basic (and there's nothing wrong with that in my books!), I think their pastries stand out and make it worth the visit :)

And they are open a bit later than many other bakeries so if you are craving a dessert after dinner, this is the place. The cupcakes are perfect. Not too sweet, just the way I like them. My fave is the oreo and red velvet. Everything including the strawberry and cream croissant and napolean have been so good every single time even when it was later in the evening. So yeah trust me on this, get everything all at once. I crave them every day. I have a problem. A delicious one.

We were nearby strawberry picking, and decided to drive the extra 10 minutes to come here for lunch. Tried 2 of the sandwiches, and 2 pastries (croissant and apple rosette) The pastries were pretty good, though not that memorable. They were about $3 each. The sandwiches were $14 each and they were just ok. We felt they were very overpriced for what they were - it was just a sandwich with a few things inside, doesn't come with any sides. We paid inside at the counter - it was a bit confusing because they had 2 counters and the one we went to didn't have staff there. We waited a while and someone came though. After we ordered, the machine prompted to tip (min amount was 18%, or there was option to skip). We tipped the 18% as we were planning to eat on their picnic table outside and they said they'd bring the food out to us. After tax and tip, everything was around $45. The food took very long to arrive though. Had to wait at least 15 mins and then to find that the sandwiches were not that substantial. And we left still hungry. The plus side is that while we were waiting for our food, there was stuff to check out such as their little fruit and veggie market, and their gift shop. All in all, a cute place! For us, food was meh and overpriced, but you definitely get an amazing ambiance. If I come back I don't think i would order the food again, but probably just some drinks to enjoy the outdoor space and soak in the nature.

Their seasonal drinks menu is always exciting to me and never disappoints. A fan of the honey brie grilled cheese - the way they made it hot with the honey and pairs it with the chips is a nice comfort food. Service is self seating and order at the counter. When your order is ready you can pick up and bring back to your own table. Friendly service at the counter but can tell they slow down a bit during the rush hours trying to make everyone's orders on time. Especially the food items on the menu taking more time than simply heating up a croissant in their display case. Love the atmosphere and vibe for reading or catching up with friends and family. Would be perfect for studying or working if only they had outlets for chargers. They do have free wifi too. There are quite a few seats but fill up fast on weekends. Catch them in summer for patio seating as well.
