The interior was beautiful and the chairs made it feel like you were transported to Europe. Two drinks and pastries ended up being $25 so a little on the pricier side but normal for Toronto. The only thing I didn't love was the fact that my latte was not hot at all and I was disappointed there wasn't latte art on either drinks. I found parking right in front of the cafe. It's diagonal, pull-in street parking. I walked in. It's a push to get through the door. I was immediately greeted by a friendly, accommodating staff member. I wanted a hot chocolate and asked about the four different ounce sizes. He showed me all the paper white cups. I went with the second-largest size. I also asked that I get soy or some non-dairy beverage added to it. Done! I have a weakness for baked goods. This cafe has vegan options, including pumpkin vegan muffins during my visit. Everything looked so goods, from brownies, to cookies. I saw the large cookie jars staring at me. My gosh, each cookie is larger than the palm of my hand and I have big hands! I wanted a s'mores one so badly. You basically take the tongs, grab your cookie, and place it in a paper bag. I got my hot chocolate and cookie that came to $9. It's not cheap, but it's fair trade goods. I expect to pay slightly more. There is a draft in the cafe, so the merchant bill that I had ripped off the machine before getting my bill blew off the counter and onto the floor. I let the man know, which he appreciated. You can pay by cash, and debit and credit cards. I also provided a tip. As usual, it's up to you. I needed to kill some time, and not being enough of a loser to actually line up at the Costco doors, I headed out onto the Queensway in search of that bold elixir known as coffee. Right there as you head west you may have noticed Bar Cavallino and Sports Bar on the corner and on the north side of the street. Usually you will see men hanging around out front, which is mildly deterring, but since it was the only place in sight that was open I was all in. Now I can see the attraction for these guys. Ok, so we all know that international soccer happens at weird hours and that's the excuse to be drinking beer in the morning at these places, but hey they have coffee too! The bartender was super hyped up here, which was great! It seemed he had a lot of coffee and was motoring around and ready to go at 8am which was refreshing. And, the best part was the prices were old-school yay! Gotta love cheap lattes, especially coming from King/Queen West where 5 or 6 bucks gets you one of these delicious drinks. But $3.50 is way easier to swallow and lets you have a couple of em instead of savouring just one. So next time you drive by here slow down and see if there's parking out front which was available when I was there in the morning and I didn't even have to plug the meter since it was before 9am, nice!
