The whole atmosphere is incredibly calming. The afternoon tea set is generous and thoughtfully arranged. This is my second time at a high tea place so I was comparing with one in Oakville. The restaurant is a small place with a few seats so making a reservation is best. This restaurant is within a small plaza within the mall itself. Beautiful decor representing English Victorian-like theme with dishes and plating presentation. I found this place to not be worth the price point in my opinion. The food was just mediocre. The egg sandwich was not good at all. There were too much green onions. The scones were not fresh and just too hard. The cucumber sandwich was not good either, it had a weird taste, I can't even describe it. I got the dulce de leche tea which tasted like water tea, I did not taste anything caramel or sweetness to it. Overall paying over $65 per person I expected a better taste than what I got. Came here for an early dual birthday celebration. It's my first time having high tea so it was an interesting experience. Ambiance - 3.5/5: it is a very tiny place. It is in strip mall (entrance next to Longos). There is an outside seating area before you get to the door to go in. It felt weird walking in that way so I was a little hesistant at first. There are 2 gender neutral bathrooms and honestly, with how tight the tea shop is, it probably isn't accessibility accessible. They have old Victorian style decor. No wifi. Service - 3/5: initially, it was an older lady that served us. She was just very quiet and down to business. Though after I said thank you a few times, she warmed up a little bit. A younger server took over and she was good. I asked her for recommendations for a fruit tea base. I was debated between the lemon mongo punch or toasty almond. She said she hasn't tried the almond one due to a bit allergy, which is totally fair. My friend and I each chose 1 of those options and we tried a cup each. More on that later. Food - 3/5: we chose the high tea option. They also have a classic afternoon tea option. Both options available all day. The only difference is that with the high tea option, they have a quiche with salad in additon to the tower of finger foods. The quiche was cold and the salad was small. Because we had 4 people, we got 2 towers. They had enough sandwiches - 2 each for cucumber, 2 each for egg salad, 1 each for both tuna and smoked salmon which were both on crostinis, 2 each for scones but they only gave 1 of each dessert. It was hard splitting it. The sandwiches were ok. They gave a big globe of tuna. The scones was a little dry for me, even with the clotted cream and jam. The desserts were really sweet. The tea: the lemon mongo punch was true to its description. It's tart and with the addition of sugar, it brings out the flavours. I recently visited for high tea, booking a reservation about a month in advance. The gentleman who answered the phone was very kind, though I could tell English wasn't his first language. He didn't quite understand what a "bachelorette" was at first, but he was really nice and really tried to learn which I thought was so cute! Unfortunately, the day of, our plans got delayed, and we ended up running late. I called ahead to let them know, and the same gentleman assured me that it was no problem at all and that we could still come in. However, when we finally arrived, the experience took a bit of a turn. The lady who served us seemed a bit annoyed that we were late, giving off a rude attitude, which was a bit of a bummer, especially since we were willing to eat quickly knowing we were already running behind. I also had a small disappointment when I mentioned during the phone that we were celebrating my friend's bachelorette, but they didn't make any effort to acknowledge it. They had a cute chalkboard with birthday messages for other guests, but ours was completely overlooked. I even gave them my friend's name when they asked, so that felt like a missed opportunity to make the celebration feel special. As for the service, the server wasn't friendly at all, not just to us but the other groups that were there as well. Not sure if this is a positive thing considering her attitude, but she wasn't around much during our visit. When it was time to close, she suddenly appeared from the front of the restaurant and abruptly informed everyone that they were closed. It would have been nice if there had been a more polite heads-up or a gentler way of wrapping things up, or if she was around to get the bills of the groups willing to leave sooner. On a positive note, the food and tea came out quickly, and there were a lot of different tea options, which was lovely. We opted for the afternoon tea set, where we each got to choose our own tea, which was a nice touch. The set usually came with two servings per tray, but they also had smaller trays as we were uneven numbers. The food was decent, and I quite enjoyed the scones, but overall nothing too mind-blowing. The vibe of the place was really cute. It had a more charming, Victorian era feel that was great for photos. I loved all the cute china they hung up. This is a small tea shop in a mall. The mall entrance is at the back that close to tea shop. It was not that busy as I thought. We made a reservation but 1 hour late because of the traffic. When we arrived around 1pm, there were 2 tables inside. We could have our seats away from others. The shop has light music that it's a good place to talk or reunion with friends. The decor is fantastic that we feel like back to old century England noble tea time style. I had placed my orders when I made my reservation, and now we only needed to select the tea types. We only wanted to have the non-caffeine herbal tea, so we chose 1 pot of Toasty Almond, which was a bit fruity and nutty; and 1 pot of Lemon Mango Punch, which was fruity enough for summer. I like the Lemon Mango Punch more, because the taste was lighter, sour taste was less. The classic afternoon tea includes 2 sweets, 2 scones with butter and jam, and 6 finger sandwiches (2 cucumbers, 2 eggs, 1 salmon and 1 tuna). High Tea has the same food above, plus a Quiche and Green salad. It's good enough for 2, and it says maximum for 2 hours, but I think if it's not busy, you can stay as long as you need. The sandwiches were all in a 3 layers' tray, so it looks fancy. The food taste was good, but nothing extraordinary. This place is located inside a mall, which was a little confusing at first if you haven't been here before. Food: Our group went with the afternoon tea option. They didn't provide enough desserts for every person, which surprised me. Most places I've been to, they provide at least 1 type of each finger food and dessert for everyone. At this place, they have enough scones and finger foods but not the dessert. For example, for the macarons, they only provided 3 but we had 5 guests in total. So the desserts we had to cut them so everyone can try. But we're all paying the same price, so it didn't make sense to me why everyone wouldn't get their own. Not sure if that was an oversight on their part or if that was on purpose. That aside, the food tasted well and was quite filling. They also had a large tea selection to choose from, which was great. Spoiler alert: After Queen Tea Shop is the best value high tea place I have visited up to this day. During this long weekend, I do not want to drive out of town due to busy traffic for the beginning of the school year. I decided to search on yelp and found this tea shop which looks very interesting. I booked the 11 AM time slot on Sunday to skip the crowd, with a maximum 2 hours of seating time. This is my first time having high tea at a tea shop instead of a five stars hotel. I arrived right on time and the place was not crowded yet. Therefore, I was able to take some photos of this tea shop. As everything in this tea shop look like antique to me and gave me a sense of the Victorian time period. My family and I ordered the High tea set which come with a pot of tea, Quiches, and the Afternoon tea set. Now let discuss about the food. The Quiches have a smooth and creamy egg texture and flaky crust. The fresh finger sandwiches are surprisingly tasty with only basic ingredients. The sweet petit fours (dessert sweets) look very simply but the chef did put in the efforts to try make it perfect. On the negative side, the scones are dry and not warm at all. With a little bit more butter when baking the scones will make it perfect. I personally find their tea so-so but my dad loves their tea very much. He even wants to buy some tea leaves home but they do not sell their tea leaves. Overall, After Queen Tea Shop is a great place to spend some quality time with your family and friends on the weekend. Went for an 11 am high tea with a party of 10 ladies. Our server was very cold and seemed bothered by us asking questions. We paid $55 for tea and an arrangement of bad bite size white bread snacks. We asked if we could order other items on the menu but she said no that we had already chosen high tea option. Our party paid $730 including a big tip that we had no option about. We left hungry and very disappointed. We were also rushed out because of their two hour limit. For that kind of money we should have had very nice sandwiches and premium pastries. I haven't had high tea in a minute, so decided to visit this cute British style tea shop to chat and catch up. The atmosphere is very quaint, with every wall and corner decorated with lace, tea sets and antique items. The service is fast and friendly, and they mainly leave you alone unless to check in with more hot water for your individual teapots. We had one afternoon tea and one high tea between two people and it was plenty of food. The only difference between the two sets is the addition of a plate of salad with an individual quiche. I would have been fine without it. The tea items are nicely made with obvious attention to detail, but nothing special. There are egg sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, smoked salmon on bread, tuna on bread, scones, and a selection of sweet items to share. I came here on a Saturday afternoon. We fortunately had a reservation otherwise the host said the restaurant was fully booked and had to turn people away at the door. We were reminded about the 2 hours sitting limit to accommodate the next reservations coming in. The aesthetic and atmosphere of the restaurant is magnificent. It's so perfectly decorated with a bunch of English antiques everywhere - even the washrooms! The service was amazing too. The waitress and host were so friendly and accommodating, despite the chaos of a fully booked day. She was attentive and always had a smile on her face. The food, however, was unfortunately mediocre. The egg salad sandwiches were very dry and the same could be said about the cucumber sandwiches. The scones were lovely at least, and so were the mini desserts, but it was nothing outstanding though, especially for the $30-50 price point. As this place is small, it's highly recommended that you make reservations ahead of time as there is no guarantee of a spot for walk in customers. Also, if there are dietary restrictions, allergies etc, you'd have to let the workers know ahead of time so they can prepare the menu. This is my favourite high tea place in town. They make decent finger sandwiches and the warm quiche here is a must try. I called on Feb 21, 2024 and booked a table for six for March 2, 2024. The purpose of the reservation was to celebrate two separate birthdays. Several people in our party drove from two hours away. When we arrived, I was informed that there was no reservation under my name. I showed the server the call history from my phone to confirm this call actually occurred. I was told there was no reservation, no availability, and nothing they could do to make up for their record keeping error. Instead, we were offered seating outside of the main dining area which was situated in the hallway of a strip mall. I declined the offer as the alternative seating was, quite frankly, insulting. While I'm sure the food and ambiance are great, the mishandling of our reservation was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. For the price ($50per person) I'd like to think there would be more than 2 desserts. Unfortunately the quiche was not only bland but had a hair in it and when I told the server she only offered to bring me a new. And since my appetite had been turned off I declined. I had a really nice time here! I came with a group of women for a bridal tea and it was a really lovely experience. The place is tucked inside of a plaza right next to the Longos. The plaza itself is quite nondescript, and a bit run down, but the tea shop is adorable and charming. For the party they had two long tables set up for us, it's a really tiny place, there were two larger parties set up inside and it was pretty crammed. There isn't a lot of space for standing around. After we were sat, we were given choices of tea. They have an extensive list of different types of teas but I found that they were all very novelty flavoured and not a lot of classic or regular types of teas. The service was pretty good, there was a young girl helping out the group and she was really sweet although she had a bit of a hard time answering some questions that came up about the teas. The food was really nice, I enjoyed the finger sandwiches and scones. It was a lot of food, I was quite full after. They even made sure to set a different place seating for someone who had a fish allergy and made different sandwiches for her which was nice. I appreciate the attention to detail. This was a small easily missed tea shop in an unexpected area. I went there with my two sisters for a fun tea party experience. The staff is lovely there and there are plenty of items on the high tea menu. The atmosphere was Old English and British Colonial vibes. There is a large selection of teas to choose from. The sandwiches were all delicious. I found the bakery items to be pretty mediocre. For the price, I think it is nothing special and I would say it is grocery store level baked goods. That being said, it is in the GTA area and there are very few options in the area that are not closer to Downtown Toronto. I think if you have children and you want a pleasant place in town for a birthday party for young kids, or simply to casually come here, it is a good choice. They write everything down so nothing is in a system. They also weren't able to squeeze me in because it's Mother's Day weekend. I have to scramble to find alternative arrangements for my party. I came in a group of 6 for afternoon tea (the difference between high tea and afternoon tea = ~$12, which comes with a quiche + a salad). It was strangely located at the end of a strip mall in Thornhill and felt very out of place. It was a tad unnerving that you would look outside and see mall people, when the inside was so cute and quaint! PROS: The atmosphere, the pretty tea settings are all consistent. There's a wide selection of tea, ranging from black to oolongs and fruity ones. I had the Buckingham Palace black tea...we had to ask for milk but that's sugar on the table. CONS: The sandwiches were okay, my favourites were the salmon (+ dill) and the egg salad, but the bread was subpar on all of them and quite dry. The scones were okay but inconsistent because some of us had ones with raisins and some of us didn't. It came with devonshire cream and jam. They were very dry. On top, we had mini fruit tarts, a mini cheesecake (very eggy and not like your typical NY cheesecake), a chocolate cupcake, and an almond macaron, which I'm convinced was at least a day old. Prior to the visit, I made reservations. The person told me Afternoon Tea was only available at designated times. There was some confusion as to when Afternoon Tea would be available. Here there are 2 options- Afternoon Tea and High Tea. The main difference is that High Tea offers quiche and salad for each person. All other sandwiches/ scones/ sweets are the same. They had a wide variety of teas which included a great selection. The flavour of the tea was great. The only down was that the tea wasn't super hot. The water was only warm. The Afternoon Tea offered 3 tiers starting with sandwiches ( 3 kinds- tuna, cucumber and smoked salmon), scones (2 kinds- classic and raisins), and sweets (cheesecake, macaron, tart and cupcake). Decided to get high tea takeout to enjoy at a picnic near a park since the weather was so nice last week. We called in the morning for a set for 2 people around 4PM and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of boxes we were given for the set! The set came with a personal size quiche, smoked salmon sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, and tuna salad sandwiches. We also got 4 scones, but unfortunately we're not gives any jam or clotted cream so the scones were quite dry and we chose not to finish them after the quiche and sandwiches. We were given two teabags of our choice of tea so we could make them at home later, which was a sweet touch so that we didn't lose the tea aspect of afternoon tea. The dessert portion of the meal was a bit disappointing, it was a standard cheesecake that was a bit too rich and a macaron that was just crunchy when you bit into it, so there wasn't the chew that you'd expect with a normal macaron. TL:DR - Had to wait for table even with reservation made days before and was told to move tables AFTER we had started eating. Food and service were not good; they seemed unorganized. Will not be coming back. Save your money to go somewhere nicer. ______ I am quite surprised by the many great reviews of this place because I experienced quite the opposite in terms what others have said regarding the service and food. The experience my mom and I had left us sour and we have already alerted all our friends and family not to come here due to the bad service and food. My mom had gone here recently for crepes on a weekday with friends and had found the quite place charming and unique. That being said, during her time there, she saw many people having afternoon tea and wanted to try it herself. During our visit, my mom and I had made reservations to try their afternoon tea set on a Saturday (she called the shop the previous Tuesday to reserve). She had told me after our meal that no one had picked up the phone when she first called on Tuesday and she left a voice mail for them. Since no one got back to her that Tuesday, she phoned the shop back and the lady who then picked up had told her that she didn't know how to access the voice mails on their phone system. It makes me wonder how many people have left voice mails which didn't get attended to. Anyways, upon arriving to the tea shop, we stepped inside and no one greeted us. We had to find the shop employee who was by the cash register to let her know of our reservation at 1:30pm. Mind you, we had gotten there on time but she told us to wait as tables were still all full. She asked us if we wanted to sit in an outside area of the shop but I mean...who wants to sit in a plaza when the main attraction of the tea shop is the decor itself? We had to wait 15-20 mins to get seated even though we had a reservation which was pretty disappointing. So we sat down, ordered our teas, and the food came out shortly as my mom had already told the shop what afternoon tea set we had wanted. We were busy eating our food and sipping our teas when suddenly, halfway through my scone, the shop employee asked us if we could move tables (we had already sat at that table for at least 20 mins). She wanted us to move to another table since she wanted to use the table we were currently sitting at to accommodate a large bridal party of 15. This request was unbelievable. Even in any restaurant setting, asking a customer to move when they are already seated and eating is ridiculous. My mom and I moved though because we were nice but this added to the disappointing experience we had. During our stay at the tea shop we also saw that store employees were rushing another table to leave as they had been talking and eating for quite a while. I believe this move was due to the fact that there were other people waiting to be seated (I am not sure if they had reservations or not). This move however, is rude. Afternoon tea is an event that is enjoyed at a leisurely pace. I did not see any notes on the menu or signs saying there was a time limit to your stay at the shop. Anyways, let's move onto the food. The food was forgettable and disappointing. There were an assortment of finger sandwiches (egg, cucumber, smoked salmon, and chicken) on the bottom tier. The egg and smoked salmon sandwiches were decent; the chicken, not so much. The scones on the middle tier that were provided were dry and a bit hard. I've definitely had better (I recommend Kitten and the Bear in Parkdale if you want delicious scones) and only one of the scones had raisins. On the top tier were 4 desserts (a cheesecake, macaron, fruit tart, and some type of apple dessert). The desserts were just not edible. The macaron was chewy, hard, and tough, and it didn't look or taste appealing (my cousin even makes better macarons at home). All the other desserts were average and just not appealing in taste and looks. The only positive of this place is really the interior. The details in the plates and decor transport you to England. It feels as though you're sitting in an English tea shop somewhere in London. The environment is nice, but the food and service overall make for a disappointing experience. We will not be coming back to this place nor will we recommend anyone to go here. read more

I had an amazing experience, it's like fulfilling my childhood dream of having a tea party. This place will need reservation and do mention you want afternoon tea if you want a food platter. There is a variation of teas and the experience of royalty. One place you will definitely not feel out of place for dressing up. Totally recommended if you want to experience this. I liked this tea shop. We went for afternoon tea with friends. The high tea aficionado in the group declared it to be in the top 5 of all her tea shop visits. It is located in Thornhill, a great place to have a tea shop. It's in a plaza with longos and a Starbucks. Well not really a plaza, there's a little inside mall with even a small food court. The tea shop is inside there. The entrance is below a green tea shop sign. There's lots of free parking. The tea shop entrance is really cute. There's actually some seating just at the entrance. When you walk in, in small. There's a Toronto themed stain glass on one wall, and a giant mirror on the other. There's a delicate pick rose wallpaper on the wall. OK. It looks just like you want a tea house to look! Old fashioned things all over the like a piano, cash resister, globes, fireplace. Really nice. I picked a black tea called Patisserie. Loved it. It tasted sweet and nutty and slightly spicy. It tasted and smelled terrific. It comes with all the usual, sandwiches, scones, and sweets. The sandwiches I loved. Cucumber and cream cheese, smoked salmon on a round bread (shaped like a flower- cute), egg salad, and chicken salad. The sandwiches were made on the freshest soft, pillowy, bread, like it was made that day. Loved it. Scones were buttery and warm from the oven. We got two each. A lemon flavoured and cranberry one. They were served with clotted cream and a wonderful peach preserve. I think you can buy the peach at the cash. The only problem I had was with the treats. Each tray was meant for two people. The sandwiches, and the scones were all doubled, even amounts for every one. The treats were not. There were four individual treats (other places give 4x2). Which meant you didn't get to try everything. All on all it was really good. A bit pricy but not ridiculous. I will be back as a once in a while treat. Lovely spot for high tea in an unlikely place! Great selection of different types of teas, the high tea sandwiches/scones/desserts platter is delicious, although a bit pricey and the scones a bit dry), but the service is very good! The cafe itself is very beautifully decorated, it reminded me of the Princess of Wales hotel in Niagara on the Lake. This place though, definitely does not match the outside of the building, which is boring and just a regular plaza. It's excellent if you don't want to pay a lot for a fancy time. read more

Nice quaint little shop. Decor and atmosphere are unique. You are required to order High Tea set or Afternoon Tea set in advance (only difference is High Tea set includes quiche and salad). The variety of teas is amazing! Quiche was flaky and salad was delicious. The rest are acceptable but nothing extra ordinary. Service was good. Worth the trip! read more

Came here over the holidays in December for afternoon tea. They have a regular tea option which includes a pot of tea and finger sandwiches like egg salad, smoked salmon, tuna, cucumber etc., scones and mini desserts. They also have a high tea option which includes the above and a quiche and salad. Note: you need to let them know which option you want when you make your reservation. We opted for the regular tea option as it was more than enough food when you're enjoying it with tea and catching up with friends. We had called to make reservations about 3 weeks in advance and unfortunately they lost our reservation and weren't expecting us. Luckily they had one table left to seat us. It's a super small place in a bit of a random plaza and the service felt understaffed as we were only asked once for a hot water refill during the 2 hours we were there. (There was really only one person serving the entire place). Cute spot. Food was very tasty and a solid 3.5 stars. Food and service together I would say 3 stars (chalk it up to a busy time of year).
