I recently visited The Souk, a little spot in Whitby, offering a global variety of Coffee, Chai, and locally sourced pastries. My friend and I had delicious pastries and flavoured coffees in a cozy but very busy setting. The pastries were delicious, without being too sweet and the flavoured coffees were really good, although my Malaysian coffee was a wee bit sweet for my preference. Check out The Souk at Dundas St W and Brock St in Whitby!

Best cafe in Whitby. The beverage options are extensive and all of them sound delicious. I tried the banana bread iced matcha latte and it was delicious. I also tried the pistachio latte and it was equally as good. The pastries were good but I'm not sure if they are made in house. The place was PACKED on the weekend so it might be hard to find seating. Overall 10/10 cafe

We had made reservations beforehand, as this place is seasonal therefore, it gets quite busy. We were seated at a table on a ground with rocks near the serving station, which was situated outside under an umbrella, facing the water fountain. The view was spectacular, as there were many flowers blooming, and the water fountains were flowing beautifully. Once we were seated, we were given menus, and settled on our items. I decided on the high tea, while my husband settled on the reuban sandwich. I was first given an option of tea bags, at which I chose herbal berry tea. The plates, pots, and cups were all plain white, which I didn't find too appealing. Also, there were no tablecloths on the tables, as the tables were outside, and constantly under the sun. I also found that the chairs were not comfortable, and shaky as they were placed on rocks. Once the tea was served, the three dishes of food items arrived. The sandwiches were not appetizing, as one had huge pieces of turkey, the other (which was supposed to be a pinwheel sandwich) was too loose, and falling apart. The only sandwich that I actually liked was the cucumber with cream cheese, which tasted authentic to a traditional tea setting meal. The scones were next, and were a nice size however, they broke upon being cut. Also, the jam had huge chunks of fruit, which was impossible to spread. The lemon curd was nice but, the whip cream wasn't anything close to clotted cream. Finally, the desserts were the last section to be eaten. The shortbread cookie was as thin as paper, with little to no taste. The only delicious item was the Dubai chocolate brownie, which was amazing. The little macaroons were the size of my pinky fingernail, which was disappointing. And to top it all off, the price was $68 per person, plus tax! Would not recommend this tea room to anyone, as the food is not worth the price, albeit the view and atmosphere are stunning.

It was such a special experience from start to finish! I ordered the Traditional Afternoon Tea, which included a beautiful assortment of finger sandwiches (two of each), including egg salad and chives on a flaky croissant, along with a chef's selection of tea sandwiches that are always prepared daily on imported French bread. My favorite was the one with the salmon. We were also served an assortment of pastries created by Pastry Chef Kim, all of which were as lovely to look at as they were to eat, plus their signature house-made scones with jasmine tea-infused sultana raisins, served with strawberry jam, creme fraiche, and butter. And yes, you know me, I ordered coffee instead of tea. No regrets! Meanwhile, my mom chose the His Royal Highness Tea, which came with a generous charcuterie and artisanal cheese board, a pot of tea, and one ounce of Bowmore 12-year-old Islay Scotch. She surprised me by choosing the scotch over the sparkling wine option but shared she had a bit of a cold and thought it might help which made me laugh! Everything was beautifully presented, so, so delicious, and the service was impeccable! The whole experience was wonderfully indulgent and a perfect way to spend time together after the holidays. A true five-star afternoon that I can't wait to enjoy again someday!! I'd also love to spend more time in the Prince of Wales hotel... maybe next time :)

I have visited on three occasions, and sampled three different types of Afternoon Teas. The first time I had a Traditional Tea with selected teas, scones, mini-sandwiches, and desserts. Each was special in their own way, Service is impeccable. The ambiance is romantic, invoking a bygone era.
