Tips: - There aren't any humans taking orders when you walk in. You must use the kiosk. - This place is on Fantuan, but doesn't offer the full drink menu that you see in the store. - Most drinks are regular in size. Only a handful are large. Last Monday, after work, I was in downtown Markham. I was driving up Birchmount Avenue, just before Highway 7. I pulled into a parking spot on the street. It was my first time parking here. I thought that I'd check out the businesses and remembered Machi Machi. You can also park in the plaza. Machi Machi is across from Panera Bread. There's lot of parking. It was the last bubble tea store in downtown Markham that I had yet to visit. It was time. The store has a couple of steps to get to the door that faces Birchmount Avenue. It also has a ramp. I took the steps going in. There is no hand rail. I left using the ramp, which seemed spacious enough for a wheelchair. I entered the store. There were two folks ahead of me at the kiosk to place orders. No one was behind the counter taking orders, so your kiosk is your best bet. There was a group of four folks waiting for their orders next to us. I also saw seating off to the right and left. They are limited. You get three seats on either side of the order area. I was order number 29 with these items: - Fizzy plum green tea (fixed sugar and ice) - Coconut lime strawberry smoothie (light sugar and fixed ice) Both were regular in size. There are few drinks that are large. Customizations aren't as flexible as other bubble tea places. They are my reasons why this place doesn't get a five-star review. It was such a nice day outside that due to demand for cold drinks here, it took long to get my drinks. The woman in front of me decided to go outside. It was weird to me. If I had a drink waiting for me and I'm a party of one, I'd be inside the store, waiting for my number to be called. Sure enough, order number 28 was called. I said that I was number 29 when the woman looked at me. I was standing by the glass window. It's all glass, which was nice seeing the sunshine come in, but it also heated up the place. I lightly tapped on the glass. Number 28 heard me. I pointed to her to come inside. She did. This woman was extremely introverted. She got to the counter and didn't say a thing. I went around and got the attention of a nice female staffer. I said that 28 was here. She nodded and got 28's drink. 28 was happy. Both thanked me. It was my good deed of the day. My order was ready. My good deed helped. The female staffer asked if I wanted a bag. I said yes. I got it for free. I thanked her and left with my bag of drinks and straws. I immediately had the fizzy plum green tea. I love fizzy drinks. This one was awesome. The plum flavour was excellent with the green tea. It was refreshing, fizzy, and perfect. I drank it as I drove to fetch some takeout before heading home. I had the coconut lime strawberry smoothie after dinner. It tasted tropical and delicious. The flavours were so good. Excellent! I'd get both drinks again. I'd also love to try more items on the menu. I had a wonderful first experience here. (166) read more

Great drinks, but not much of a variety. The time to get your drink is slow, and aren't many workers. I loved the drink, but its just the service speed. I didn't notice this place for the longest time until my sister recommended we give it a try. My partnered ordered the classic creme brulee foam with their original milk tea, and that tasted pretty good! But I wanted something a bit more fun for the price. So I went with the flurry strawberry latte with the creme brulee topper and crumbled cookies. It tasted like a strawberry milkshake with a fun foam top. It was a super heavy drink but somehow still refreshing. It basically was a giant dessert for me. Delicious. But given the price point, this would be a place we'd go for just a treat once in a blue moon. It's just too expensive for what you're getting. I think of it like a starbucks. I would only want to order the fun, festive drinks as a treat once in a long while. That being said - recommend! read more

So refreshing and delicious! I don't drink as much bubble tea as I use to a couple years ago, but something about Machi Machi is so delicious. Perhaps it's because of their minimalistic clean interior that makes this establishment so appealing. Or probably perhaps because it's associated with an asian celebrity (I forget who, oops). Regardless, the bubble tea here is unbeatable in my opinion. Came here on a Friday evening around 6:30PM, there were about six people in total at the establishment. The menu is located in a little nook that is hard to see, so imagine all six of us huddled around in this nook trying to look at the extensive menu haha. To be honest, the order took forever to come out, we waited a good ten minutes for two drinks. However, the taste is what gives this place a five star. I'm not usually into heavy creamy drinks, but this cheese foam strawberry slush blew it out of the park for me! It's creamy and heavy at first but gets flushed down with your next few sips of refreshing slushy and cold strawberry heaven. The fruit tea is also amazing, with such a refreshing component and filled with fruits for you to munch on afterwards. Overall, the bubble tea here is expensive. But is it worth it? Great bubble tea place that has delicious tapioca and tea flavors!! The interior of this is HUGE and really nice for photos! Highly recommend taking some pictures in there for fun. Their menu is printed out onto a big paper sheet that is easy to read. The only reason it lost a star for me is because a lot of the customization options are limited because of how they make the tea or how they bottle it up for you... So it is difficult to make changes to the item... Such as adding tapioca to some drinks is not possibly and that's disappointing because the tapioca is really good here. read more

Stopped by here with some friends as I've seen this spot a few times on Instagram. I ordered the jasmine milk tea with creme brulee, I think I got it less sweet and totally forgot to get boba. The jasmine milk tea was so good, you could taste the tea. The creme brulee was sweet but paired really well with the drink. Loved the torched sugar! The inside was super cute however there was no seating. I would definitely come back and get the same drink, maybe with boba! read more

My favourite bubble tea place. I am here practically every weekend! You can not go wrong with their matcha, strawberry or chocolate pana cotta drinks - they are SO good. Their matcha is roasted in house and so rich. The strawberry flurry and the creme brûlée milk tea are also a favourite. Out of all the drinks I have tried, the only drink that was disappointing was the grapefruit slush. Their interior is super cute. Location/Service This place is located at the intersection on Birchmount/Highway 7 - within the same plaza as Whole Foods and LCBO. It's a corner store - so you should be able to see its sign as you approach the plaza. Plenty of parking available around. I really like the interior - super high ceiling, making it very spacious. Then there are multiple ig-friendly spots - with there slogan 'I love you very Machi'. The artwork is very cute and warm with its bright colours. Staff were friendly and very accommodating/strict with social distancing measures. As of Nov 2020, only 10 people are allowed to be inside at a time - with proper social distance markers on the floor and hand sanitizers provided at entrance. The staff also wipes the credit card machine and counter every single transaction - so I feel very safe. Drinks Tried 2 drinks. First one is Black Milk Tea with Panna Cotta (Bottle) - which is around $9. The bottle is plastic, quite cute and definitely reusable if you want to carry a small one around. The drink I for this I thought was just okay. Perhaps the panna cotta is not really my thing, cause I found it a bit weird with the milk tea - a bit clumpy to drink it. Second one is just the Black Milk tea with golden pearl - got it slight sweet and slight ice. This was perfect! I really enjoy the milk tea, it's smooth and strong. The golden pearl was a bit tough to chew - but interesting to try. Price wise for this drink was around $7. Overall I think machi machi is quite cute and creative. I've been seeing the name Machi Machi pop up everywhere on instagram especially with their bottle design so I thought I'd pop in and check them out. Note that lines can get quite long on the weekends due to only 5 people being allowed in the store. They have very unique bubble tea options here (unlike your regular chatime etc) so it was hard knowing what my drink will be like. So I settled for the classic matcha mochi red bean creme brulee smoothie that everyone talks about and also grabbed the oolong latte with coffee jelly. I really wanted the warm mochi but didn't receive any with my drink (apparently had to order the warm version of it and not the smoothie or it was extra cost). I have super mixed feelings about the mochi red bean creme brulee - the top was super creamy and sweet but the bottom was rough and bitter. Quite a contrast in texture and taste but I guess in a way it does work when mixed together. The creme brulee layer was definitely the highlight. The oolong latte with coffee jelly was pretty watered down since the jelly was the only coffee component. Overall, they were both okay, however it did not satisfy my boba cravings and was a bit pricey. read more

Hands down one of my all time favourite bubble tea spots! The interior is sooooo nice, and the tea is unbelievable. They have some really nice toppings like taro, golden tapioca, jelly, and cheese foam! I got the green tea with cheese foam and taro topping - it was amazing! There's lots of photo ops inside and it's never too busy so you'll get your chance. I'm really glad they are opening more machi machi locations as this is a staple place for me! This cute bubble tea shop has a few locations but I have only tried this one. One of their signature drinks is the Mochi cream foam black tea which was pretty good. The mochi comes wrapped separately and was slightly warm. The drink wasn't too sweet and the foam not too heavy. The regular black milk tea was very average in comparison. I really wanted to like this place but I had to throw away half my drink cause the tapioca was undercooked. It was a jaw workout! The store was super cute but it's a shame to spend $5+ to throw away half the drink. Hoping it was a one off situation! I got the oolong milk tea with tapioca, black tea creme brûlée with taro toppings and the matcha panna cotta. I'd go for the oolong tea over the black tea, way more flavourful. I am wondering if it's because the creme brulee topping was too creamy and diluted the black tea flavour. My younger sibling who is not a picky eater by any means also had the same comment and couldn't eat the tapioca either. As a boba lover and hearing many good things about this place, I am definitely happy with the drinks! The black milk tea with creme brûlée was so good, rich and creamy. The creme brûlée was quite sweet but once you mix it into the drink, it's fine. I also added the taro balls which I liked. My husband had the fizzy winter melon four season spring tea, and he said it was nice and refreshing and he liked it. Personally I'm not a fan of winter melon so I didn't like it that much but the fizziness was nice. Would love to come back here and try other drinks! read more

Walking into the store feels like a scene siphoned from a dream; from menu to decor, every last detail seems to be designed to be easy on the eyes. The service from the staff are incredibly on point and provided a smooth experience. I had the Black Milk Tea with Golden Pearls. If you are a fan of tea flavour, I would definitely recommend this drink with 30% sugar. The pearls were not my favourite in terms of flavour and aftertaste, but the texture was quite soft and enjoyable to chew. Came to try out their matcha mochi red bean creme brulee smoothies. Was quite disappointed. Matcha flavour was very strong. Mochi was quite chewy and not worth the extra money. Creme brulee also didn't match the drink, as there are texture problems. Chunky on the bottom, semi think matcha and super thick creme brulee. Overall it was definitely thicker than a smoothie. A semi thick milkshake. Looked like a mess when mixed together. Apart from appearances, nothing special. Won't be coming back. Also overly expensive and cost 8.70. Tried a few drinks here but their creme brûlée drink is probably my favourite! If you're a creme brûlée fan, it's a must try. My experience at Machi Machi are overall good ones! Their drinks are quite consistent every time I order it, and the flavour profiles are very similar even if the staff are different. While I do think it is hyped up based on the fact that its by Jay Chou, I do think it's worth a try and having from time to time. The price might be a bit on the higher end for bbt, but I find that the newer, more 'trendy' bbt places nowadays have comparable prices. I generally enjoy their regular milk tea, as it provides a nice black tea aroma and the amount of sugar is just enough for me when I get 50%. I personally enjoy their strawberry milk tea with panna cotta. The panna cotta itself is quite smooth in texture and the milk flavours in my opinion shines through. The strawberry flavours are nice and subtle but pairs well with the drink. Overall I do enjoy the bbt at Machi Machi and would come back to try their seasonal offers. The bottle is quite extra, and doesnt really make much of a difference, just nicer for photos. read more

As a boba enthusiast, I must say this place is worth the hype! I finally got to go the the new location in Markham and tried the black milk tea with Crème Brûlée. They suggested to try the crème brûlée first (which was delicious) and then stir it together. It was so rich and creamy, I had to get it twice in a week! Just a heads up, there was a limit of one Crème Brûlée drink and 1 bottle drink per person, as well as a maximum of 4 drinks per customer! The design of the shop is super cute! They have full COVID-19 protocols in place and have a limit of 10 per store, I had to stand outside to wait in line before being let in! I never write reviews and I have to write a review this time. Nothing against the store but the manager has terrible customer service. The plastic from the cap fell into my drink (in small pieces) and the manager told me it's not a big deal and was trying to argue with me that I'm making a big deal out of a small problem. He did give me points to reimburse for the drink but I haven't had this kind of service ANYWHERE. Apparently he thinks it's okay to drink plastics, I'd like to see him drink some himself. So happy I got the chance to finally taste Machi Machi especially the new location in Markham. As for the Pana cotta it came in a plastic bottle and because it was the holidays it came with a little red hat on top of the cover which is incredibly adorable. (every drink that came in a bottle they would manually put a little red hat on top of the bottle cap #Dedication) I love the separation between the strawberry and the Pana cotta.It wasn't overly sweet the strawberry gave it a good balance between the thick cream. The next day I ordered the strawberry slush with cream foam and the flurry strawberry latte with crème brûlée. The strawberry was good it reminded me a lot of the grapefruit just less sour. The flurry strawberry latte with crème brûlée is by far AMAZEBALLS! It's truly a dessert in your mouth. It has multiple layers of starting with a strawberry latte then a layer of crème brûlée And to top it off I believe it was crushed Oreos and a piece of strawberry as garnish to the top. While eating at it reminded me of a memory of eating black forest cake when I was young!! I am definitely going back and trying their other flavours and I highly recommend if you're in the area or if you're visiting to go and taste their drinks. I never had mini taro balls before so was pretty intrigued. They were so good! Omgosh. Perfectly pillowy and chewy! Not powdery at allll. Perfect consistency! It was so good that I went again the next day to try something else on the menu. Second time around I went with the oolong milk tea but it just tasted like the roasted MT from chatime.
