a cup of coffee on a glass table

To be fair this review is a bit old as these visits happened during summer 2020. There was 2 times I went to the Queen West location and unfortunately both I was a bit disappointed. The first visit the lady at the counter ignored us while we waited. She was technically doing dishes and was the only one in the store, but at other stores when one person is working they still stop what they're doing to take our order, she finished cleaning everything and then came over to take our order when we were the only ones in the store. The second visit, there were 2 young ladies working the counter. They seemed nice and we had a BOGO offer, but an older man came from behind to inspect the offer and said it wasnt valid at his location. It was a general BOGO for Gong Cha and didnt specify location, but in the future I'd be sure to try other Gong Chas. The drinks themselves though in both cases were excellent.

A busy Gong Cha because of the area. There's a few tables along the side of the shop but expect a long line of people beside your table at all times. They have wifi here but I didn't actually see a password anywhere. There didn't appear to be a washroom either. There are a lot of seasonal drinks right now including a passionfruit series. Unfortunately they had a hand written sign at cash saying they were out of passionfruit! I quickly audibled to another featured series in the grapefruit line. Mine was a grapefruit green tea with star shaped jelly. It was super hard to hear the cashier. I think it was a mixture of it being loud and the plexiglass separating us. They didn't have a mic/speaker though, just a cut out in the window. There is a screen in front that educates you on how to order (ice, sugar, size, topping customizations) so you can follow along that way.

Brown sugar milk tea with boba and coffee jelly

I don't love Gong Cha bubble tea. I think there are many bubble tea places in Toronto that have better tea and boba. I specifically tried their brown sugar boba milk tea here because I like to compare that across boba chains. The drink was okay, it tasted like regular milk tea with no brown sugar taste. The boba wasn't too great, they felt a little tough rather than soft and melty if that makes sense. I felt like I was chewing my boba to finish the drink. On the plus side, the man did remake my drink when I realized it had coffee jelly instead of just boba. This was kind of him to do. 2J here means boba and coffee jelly if you're ordering on one of the apps. I did not know this prior to ordering.

Excellent Bubble tea and smoothie store on Queen St W. They are running a BOGO free promotion during these initial weeks after opening and the drinks were amazing. I tried the mango smoothie and the lychee smoothie and both were excellent. You can ask for different levels of sugar (No sugar to high sugar content) on the smoothies. On the teas, you can ask for no ice to lots of ice. Very flexible, very convenient and most of the drinks are in the $5-7 range. Excellent.

Friday around 7pm Empty 1 customer in the store... the lady at the cash did not acknowledge me continued doing what she was doing then went downstairs... afterwards a man came to the register completely different attitude happy and attentive. I ordered the mango green tea no such less ice and added coconut jelly. They give you a lot of jelly! It is a bit pricey but what bubble tea place isnt? Especially downtown! I appreciate the fact that you can tell them how much sugar you want edith the option of no sugar as well as the option of how much ice you want. Many places use syrups that are pre sweetened and you have no choice.

Good fresh bubble tea. All the normal flavours you would expect, with some interesting toppings (aloe, red bean etc). I got my usual "taro" milk tea. The pearls were fresh, the bubble tea wasn't anything special. I found it to be more watery than I'm used to, and I asked for low ice. There's a lot of competitors in the area, so to me this isn't anything I would go out of my way to get, especially for the price (6+ dollars for a regular size) I liked that they use compostable/recyclable straws and a paper lid vs plastic. Good for the environment!

Saw a grand opening sign outside for Buy One Get One Free and I was hanging out with friends so it was a perfect opportunity to grab some bubble tea on a hot summer day! I don't usually rank Gong Cha within my top list of bubble tea chains but I was pleasantly surprised with the Brown Sugar Oolong Milk Tea with 2J that I tried (2J = tapioca + coffee jelly). Although it was super sweet (even after a 30% sugar modification), the flavour was really tasty. Somehow, they were able to amalgamate both the oolong and coffee flavours but still have each distinct entity stand out. I would definitely order this again but probably try for a 0% sugar since the jelly and brown sugar tapioca already add sweetness to the drink.

WHICH ONE SHOULD I GET TODAY!?

I have been trying many gongcha stores and this is the 1st time I visit this location. As I know the store just open. I would say The store is nice, my milktea are ok. But the problem is the girl who took my order. She was not nice to the customer, not even .There was not too busy today when I came in so there was no excuse for the unwelcome behavior that she is too tired of taking our order. When I was not sure clearly abt my drink, I was kindly ask again but she responsed with unpleasant attitude like we was annoying her. I came to get a good tea, not a bad attitude . I hope you guys will improve the customer service.

I was venturing around Union Station for lunch and came across Harvest Clean eats!…read more First impression was that they had a lot of options on their menu that also accommodated various dietary restrictions - lots of vegan and vegetarian options were available. I was craving a warm bowl and their new Spicy Miso Salmon Bowl caught my eye. The price of the bowl was on the higher end (~$22 before tax/tip) but not surprised as we're in the downtown core. I will say .. the portions were very generous and all the ingredients were very fresh! I was pleasantly surprised and am satisfyingly full. They had a lot of different vegetable options mixed in and the rice was nice and warm, reflecting the freshness once again. There were a lot of other items on the menu that I was interested in so I would be keen to return, especially for their smoothies. The ladies at the cash were very quick and helpful when I had some questions about my order. I got my bowl pretty quickly (~11:30 am) but can imagine this place gets busy. Luckily they do let you order in advance so may take advantage of that next time.

There are nine locations in the east coast. I ordered the Carrot Cake ($3.00). It was delicious! Even my son loved it. All their smoothies are vegan-friendly, made with coconut milk. There are no added sweeteners or sugars; they use juice from real fruits (banana or date extract) as sweeteners. Smoothies cannot be changed to take out the sweeteners. I also ordered a Strawberry Banana Smoothie ($9.95). It is the only smoothie where you can choose to have yogurt instead of coconut milk. Of course I had to try the yogurt version, making it thicker. It was quite good. Even though it says banana in the name, you won't taste the banana because it was only used as a sweetener. All their food are vegan-friendly and gluten-free. If it isn't listed as vegan or gluten-free free, just ask them and they can make it as desired. All products are made on-site using fresh, never-frozen ingredients. There is a large kitchen in the back. Their matcha drinks are very popular, selling about 70% of all their drink orders! They have some nice touches. Their napkins are of such a good quality that it is similar to a cloth towel in thickness. But there are no garbage bins since most people order for takeout; just give you garbage to the staff. There are 4 small tables with 8 chairs total. There is lively music playing in the background. There is free WiFi from Union Station. The cafe is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms at Union Station. There is paid neighbourhood street parking and paid parking lots. Review 2025-136
