Chatime is a long time favorite of ours, and we usually have a good experience. This time however the service was extremely slow and left a lot to be desired. I completely understand that, with one person working, things get overwhelming easily. When we arrived we just wanted to grab our mobile order, but there was zero eye contact, zero acknowledgement. Because of the time it took to collect our order, which was sitting out, the ice had melted a lot and watered down the flavor. This is not the fault of the overworked staff member. This is one of the first bubble tea stores in downtown Toronto, opening around Sep 2011. We used to come here a lot, 9 times between 2019-06-27 and 2021-12-04. We came back on 2024-12-31 because we received a gift card. We ordered a Chocolate Hazel Delight (large $6.50). We added pearls for +$0.70. It tasted as expected. The customer service was good because there was no one else in the shop. There were 5 small tables and a long counter for standing beside. One table had lots of crumbs on it. The shop was reasonably modern and clean. There is easy-listening music playing in the background. They also sell cakes and cookies (new item) from Bakecode, their sister company. There is free WiFi. The shop is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, but it is not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Came in cus I desperately needed the washroom and there are none you can use downtown without buying something . Food 5/5: just got a lychee juice with boba so I could use their washroom but dang it was actually quite refreshing...almost impressed against my will. Ambiance 2/5: it's a boba shop...surprisingly nice inside but very hot. It was like 83 F outside with a bit of a breeze and it was significantly hotter inside. I've visited this Chatime on numerous occasions and each time I find it very busy, so service is always a bit slow. I ordered mango green tea 30% sugar, less ice with mango popping bubbles and the drink itself tasted great. I just thought it was a bit expensive even with the daily specials they have going on this summer. This was the first chatime store that opened in Toronto and I remember the hype for this place was real. I've been to this location countless time over the past years since I used to live 5 mins away. When I moved I was so sad that I wasn't going to have another chatime store near me. Recently I came back due to the lunar new year event and being a huge BTS fan I was super excited when the BT21 collaboration was announced. I ordered the new Kosmos drink which was a white grape/white peach butterfly pea tea mixed with a shimmer. Honestly, this drink is so pretty and the taste is absolutely refreshing! The plastic cup was so cute with the BT21 characters (only available in large for the collab cup). I also ordered a large mango grapefruit with tapioca, my biggest disappointment was the tapioca. It was undercooked and hard, the tapioca has been pretty inconsistent and I remember chatime's tapioca was one of my favorite as the texture was chewy and soft enough for my liking. Honestly, for delivery bubble tea, this was quite nice! AC broke during a heat wave and the family decided bubble tea was the cooling choice to make. Ordered a few fruit teas and I chose the month's special: brown rice green milk tea (with sago.) Delivery was quick and cute (everything is purple!) and everyone enjoyed their offerings. The brown rice milk tea is nice and hearty. Kind of like a less sweet horchata. The sago was nice and soft, and at 80% sweetness, not too sweet at all. Made a trip here after walking all over the city on a hot day.. I really needed something refreshing. I found out during this visit that they have popping boba now! There are 3 flavours - mango, lychee, and green apple. I added the mango flavoured one to my peachy lychee drink. If you haven't had popping boba before the outside is a really thin layer and the inside is a flavoured syrup. I say syrup because it was thicker liquid. It's really nice if you get a lower % sugar or I could see it being too sweet. It is a little overpowering though so I mostly tasted that without the drink's flavour. read more

What would really improve this establishment is getting rid of the smells coming from the washroom and having a dairy free option for any of the taro drinks. The end result was a winner though. They really know how to fork out tasty bubble teas. Lots of tea and flavor options. You can create your own special: choose your tea or coffee, toppings, sweetness level and ice level. Decided to try the Strawberry Pudding Au Lait (Regular). I had to come all the way to Toronto, Canada to find some of the best ever boba/pearls!!! Coming from Vegas where I've tried quite a few different boba spots, I was pleasantly surprised to find such a tasty spot. There seems to be quite a line each time we walked past this place so today we decided to wait in that line. Boy oh boy am I glad we did. The line seems SO long but they cleared it quite fast. They have a large easy to read menu with a ton of options. I ordered a large coffee smoothie extra thick with pearls and regular sugar. The pearls were perfectly squishy. Only complaint I have is their straws are not nearly large enough. It was an easy fix though. I stopped down the street at the convenience store where they sell "slurpees" with gigantic straws. The location is ideal as its blocks away from the actual China Town here in Toronto and a block away from the mall. If I'm lucky we will make another trip over before they close for the night! read more

We tried out Chatime's new Pistachio Mustachio winter special drink. It was a pistachio matcha latte topped with sea salt crema. It doesn't come with pearls but my added extra pearls as a topping.But the pistachio flavour is too subtle and light that I can barely taste it... kind of disappointed. Where do you go when you're only in town for one day? Obviously, bubble tea! We were downtown so my friend suggested that we go to Chatime after our ramen lunch. Perfect way to finish off our meal and cool down from the heat. This place was awesome. First time that I've ever had grass jelly and really like how they give you the choice of how much sugar you want and even ice! Fully customizable, every BBT should be like this and way too many options (a good problem to have). Anyways, we tried: - Chatime roasted milk tea with grass jelly ($4.70 for a large). Delicious. I ordered it with less ice and 50% sugar, which was perfect. If Iived in Tdot, would definitely come here all the time. - Hazelnut chocolate milk tea with pudding ($4.20 for regular + $0.50 for pudding). Definitely on the sweeter side but the pudding was interesting option to add to my friend's drink. - QQ honeydew milk tea ($4.50 for regular) Great spot. This seems like a popular chain in Toronto. Every time I come here, there are about 10 people in line at all times no matter what time you go. 10 people when I walk in. 10 people when I walk out. The shop is not very big but there are some seating available. There are 3 different sizes you can get - regular, large and super cup. I don't even know how you'd even hold the super cup since it's got girth. You can also specify the amount of ice and sugar you want (more, less, etc). My favorite from here is the Taro smoothie with rainbow jelly. A large of this will set you back about $5.50. Pretty hefty for a drink, but seems to be the norm these days and it's pretty delicious. They do load it with tons of jelly, though. read more

My friends kept raving about Chatime being the best BBT in downtown Toronto. We were actually back in the hotel after dinner, but decided to make a trek out here. The lineup was long and the seats were all taken so we stood around until one of us can get a table while the others ordered. I can't remember exactly what I ordered, but it had grass jelly in it. It tasted pretty good to me, but I wish I ordered something with tapioca instead. That's more my flavor, but it was still otherwise worth the trek. read more

This is probably the most frequented Chatime location downtown due to its close proximity to Yonge and Dundas. I go here a few times and my feelings on this location remains the same. There are always long lineups, it's tiny, and the AC is usually not turned on. The customer service is also a hit and miss - too many staff working in a small space so everything is a bit chaotic and scrambled. My drinks always come out tasting fine, but I always dread having to wait in line in a stuffy humid room. The Yonge & College + Queen & Spadina locations are way better - go there for a better Chatime experience! read more

Just like other chatimes, they got decent bubble tea. We got the brown rice green milk tea as well as the earl grey milk tea with coconut jelly. They were both refreshing with a pretty strong tea flavor. The best part of this store is that it closes late so it was still open when all the other places were closed. Late post - Spring/Summer 2013 My friends who work downtown always tell me how good this bubble tea place is, so I've decided to check it out for myself :) Already a long line up *sigh* but since it was my first time there... it would buy me some time to check out their extensive menu while I wait in line. The line actually moved fairly quickly! I have always heard people say, when checking out a new bubble tea place for the FIRST time, you MUST order the original milk tea with tapioca. Why? Because if you know the original one taste good, everything else should taste good! I don't know what mentality that is hahaha... but I did end up order the original milk tea with tapioca XD You can also choose the level if sweetness and how much ice you want in your drink. Very thoughtful :) But I was pretty clueless at this first encounter, so I just got the REGULAR sweet with REGULAR ice lol. Next time I know I can make adjustments! My drink did come out a tad too sweet for me. And the only problem was that I didn't like the texture/chew of the tapioca :( I did go back a second time during the summer. This time I ordered the roasted milk tea with grass jelly. IT WAS SO TASTY!!! Tried the Black Tie the day it came out and it was so good. The Black Tie is different than the regular Thai milk tea as it has a shot of espresso and grass jelly. If you're looking for a caffeine high, this is the drink to go. I would highly recommemd this drink! Since it was the first day of release, the line was a bit long. This location is always really busy due to its proximity to the Eaton Centre. Definitely would not recommend if you're looking for a place to hangout for a bit, because it's crowed and the seats are super cramped. For takeout, the line is usually 10-15mins wait, and yeah the servers are usually pretty impatient and a little rude due to all the customers they have to serve each day. So far the quality of the drinks are on par with other, slower paced locations though, so no complaints here. read more

I had my very first bubble tea here as I had a friend at the time who was a barista there and helped ordered a drink for me nearly 5 years ago (and it hasn't been the same since!). To this day, I'd say the quality of the drinks has not changed nor the long line of people getting their bbt fix. This review is for this specific Chatime only. I find that this location is significantly slower than any other Chatimes even when they are no lines (may be due to many Ritual Orders). I also find that it's always very hot and humid inside... even in the winter... I would usually end up waiting outside until i see my drink through the window. However the other day, I ordered a lychee green tea and it tasted quite off..tasted more like lemon and had an odd aftertaste reminiscent of detergent? One of my favorite places for bubble tea. Often there are long lines and no seats inside to enjoy your drink. Prices are average and the quality of the drinks are better than most places. The 1L super cup is worth getting if you can drink a lot of bubble tea or willing to split it with a friend. I would recommend coming here if line ups are not too long. read more

Ordered: ICED MILK TEA WITH PEARLS: You think that milktea is something so simple they can't mess it up? You are wrong. I've been to so many bbtea places where they screw this up. But at Chatime, it was PERFECT. It was made just the way it's suppose to be with the right amount of sweetness. Make sure to ask for half pearl if you don't want too much of it in your drink. Due to the way the floor-plan is arranged, combined with there being constant streams of people coming in, getting in and out would be an interesting experience. Orders are taken on your left up at the front, with the line extending towards the back. On your right is a row of tables along the wall. So you're basically making your way to the back, squeezing past all the people that are waiting in line.. Probably don't expect to find a seat during evenings. Atrium on Bay is just around the corner if you need somewhere to sit. This location doesn't appear to do uber eats, which is a good thing because the lines would probably be going out the door. They don't take tap, so that may be a bit of a bottleneck during payment processing.. One thing that I've noticed is that the drinks are served up relatively quickly. Sometimes, it's so fast that once you're done paying the drink is already there for pick-up. read more

It is also one of the few places that offers wintermelon drinks, one of my favourites. This location is a little tight and there is always a bit of a line up. Simply the best for non artificial flavored bubble teas I have ever had!!! I usually just get the pearl milk tea or the QQ Taiwan mango juice. I love how you can customize the sugar and ice levels. I usually opt out on both since I find the drinks already sufficiently sweet enough and you get a few more sips without the ice. Once you have bubble tea from Chatime you won't go back to any other place. They just can't compare in terms of taste. If you want a cheaper bubble tea you'll be compromising on quality and taste and will probably end up with a sugar laden drink made with some powder or liquid mixture of synthetic flavours. I don't think I will ever go to Tea Shop 168 again! Chatime has stepped it up a notch with interesting flavours and the flexibility to customize your bubble tea! I like!! I got the caramel milk tea (which was 'recommended' on the menu). So delicious! Not artificial/oversweet tasting at all. Drinks are expensive, but not more so than most bubble tea places. You can get a loyalty card which gets you a free drink for every 10. The space is clean and white with some magazines and random quotes about tea written on the back wall.
