Quite a disappointment other than the service, all of the food items were lackluster in flavor. Sides tasted like canned items

Lunch special fried catfish
Jessica P.

The food was great! Service was just okay. Our server was moody/rude for 75% of our visit. She finally warmed up a tiny little bit toward the end of our experience. Seating and timing is VERY unorganized. The place was very busy for lunch when we visited. However when we were seated there were plenty of empty tables and I saw no reason to be on a wait. They did not seem to be short staffed in the front. Perhaps they were in the back; but food did not take long to come out so I don't think that was an issue. There seemed to be NO direction/manager managing the day. It wasn't terrible, just unorganized and we did more waiting than necessary. The place looks like no frills from the outside but is bright and pretty modern in the interior. All except for carpet throughout the entire dining room. In my option this is gross. However it did not smell of dirty anything as you walked in. In fact it smelled of good home cooking! No carpet is just a personal preference. Be ready if you are not Caucasian and conservative LOL. Nobody is extra friendly from the staff to the clientele but not mean either. *This was just a major observation. No music playing, just Fox News showing on all TVs. The food was very good and for that we will visit again. The star rating is because the lack of organization and unfriendliness.

Catfish, rice and gravy, green beans
Zakiya R.

This was my first time here. We ordered from the lunch menu and the portions were just right. We both had the catfish. I had green beans and rice as my sides. The green beans were very good with the smoked meat in it. The rice was on the hard side but with the brown gravy was still tasty. The water however was disgusting even with lemon.

The service here was amazing! It was my hubbys birthday and we came in with a large group and they really took care of us! The catfish and stuffed crab was so good! The hush puppy's and cornbread with the tomato relish sold us! Gotta have the sweet tea! Thank you ladies!

Fried catfish plate with mac-n-cheese and a loaded baked potato

Why 2 stars? Because I honestly didn't like pretty much anything. --- --- --- I've driven by Vernon's about a hundred times and the parking lot is always full. While fried catfish is not exactly something I ever think about, I was quite curious to see what all the hype was about. Unfortunately, the food was just really disappointing. As I've gotten older, my body only accepts so much fried food before it just hits a wall. But if it's really tasty, I'll still manage to power through. This, however, was not tasty enough to do that. We started off with complimentary hush puppies and some kind of pickled tomatoes (maybe they weren't tomatoes, but I'm not sure what they were). These were probably my favorite items of the meal. We ordered a fried platter of catfish, pickles and cheese sticks. The catfish basically just tasted like fried batter. The cheese sticks tasted like they were purchased from the frozen section from Kroger a couple of weeks earlier. And the marinara sauce had a bizarre flavor that is hard to even describe. For my entree, I wanted to order the catfish because it's the namesake of the business. But to be honest, I'd already gotten my fill of catfish from the appetizer, which was exactly the same, only in bite size form. I was given six pretty large "tenders" and could only manage eating two before I reached the end of my stomach space. I *n-e-v-e-r* leave food on my plate, but I couldn't even finish half of it. My sides were mac-n-cheese and a loaded baked potato. These were both equal to the quality you'd get at a middle school cafeteria or a bowling alley. I hate to trash a business like this, but when the food is so far below par, it's hard to be constructive in my criticism. Everyone we interacted here was friendly and the interior of the restaurant was much nicer than I assumed it would be based off the outside of the building. But this was one of the worst meals I've had in a while and a huge regret for me to waste a cheat meal here.

The decor/setup provides a slightly upscale, but still casual, sports bar feel that's family friendly. There are dart boards and various games surrounding the tables but it's all separated appropriately. Tbh this would be a perfect place to watch your sport of choice! The lineup: SOFT SERVE MARGARITA: you read that right & The reason we came here (thanks Instagram!) we got strawberry and it was everything and more I needed it to be. Will be back for this alone. TRUST. although..... I feel like it should've completely filled the glass like it does in the advertisement $9.99 a piece! 100/10 Appetizer: fried pickles spears - YALL. I am soooo picky about fried pickles and these are the best I've had. The pickles were good, crunchy, not overly oily, and stayed together! 12/10 Pickle flatbread: apparently I felt in a pickle escapade mood. Surpringly not over pickly and delicious. I would absolutely get this again. The crust was soft and cheese was melty! 9/10 Fish tacos: average. The chipotle sauce was a bit spicy. Don't know that I would get these again. 5/10 Fries I could skip, not my fave. The street corn was so good, though I wouldn't consider it traditional &! A bit heavy on the red onion, but I enjoyed it! Their sauces were all so good! The prices were fair & I feel like the amount I paid was relative to what I had, so kudos to management for that! Last but certainly not least, Prestyn, our server was great and hilarious. We truly enjoyed her & her jokes! PS - Girl, you and your name are beautiful! The food was semi-slow to come out, but thankfully we weren't in a hurry.

Why 4 stars? Because pancakes + nostalgia carry the day here…read more --- --- --- As a kid, I recall the pancakes here being absolutely amazing. Sometimes, you remember something in your head being better than it really is, but despite not visiting a Cracker Barrel in at least a decade (maybe two), those pancakes are exactly how I remember them: perfect. The rest of the food? Yikes. We ordered a cinnamon roll skillet and it was pretty terrible. First off, it was mildly warm, at best. It looked like it had been sitting in the skillet for a few hours and tasted no different. I reluctantly finished one of the mini rolls but it was not worth the calories. And I also ordered a campfire skillet. This is one of those situations where when you almost exclusively eat at highly-rated, mom & pop restaurants, you forget how bad these big, corporate chains really are. It was passable when I masked it with some ketchup, but the eggs look like they were spit out of some giant machine that makes 1,000 plates an hour. It shouldn't take that much effort to make decent eggs, which leaves me confused. But between the pancakes and the museum of rare candies in the shop, Cracker Barrel is still an enjoyable experience. We all agonized over what candy to take home because there were so many good options. And everyone who worked here was super friendly. Just don't come in with high expectations for the non-pancake portion of the menu.

We were greeted by Mickey, who was warm, welcoming, and provided great service. Our food was delicious! I had the nachos, and they were so good. After a disappointing experience the previous week, our group decided to give Pacific Yard House…read moreanother chance. Unfortunately, this visit was even worse, and we will not be returning. We had a group of 10 on a Thursday evening and were the only customers on the patio for most of our visit. I want to make it clear that our waitress was excellent. She was attentive, hardworking, and did her best despite being repeatedly let down by the kitchen and management. Several orders were prepared incorrectly. A steak ordered "as rare as possible" arrived medium-well. It was remade, but still was not cooked as requested. My catfish platter was strangely lukewarm, while another guest described her catfish as rubbery. An order of fish and chips arrived without the chips. A pizza ordered with bacon, pepperoni, and onions came with grilled onions that were not requested, and the bacon smelled and tasted off. Another guest ordered loaded potatoes as her entire meal. Without warning, she was charged $8 for what was described as a double portion, even though she never requested a double order. What arrived appeared to be approximately one cup of roasted potatoes and did not look like a double serving or a complete meal. When we asked to speak with a manager, Andi told us that she had to answer to the kitchen manager and could not address the charge. She then said she was busy and walked away without offering a solution. When I attempted to explain the problems from this visit and the previous week, I was told that the owner, Teek, is usually at the newest location except on Tuesdays, is difficult for the staff to reach, and that I would need to find him myself rather than having management take my contact information and request that he call me. Restaurants make mistakes, but repeated incorrect orders, questionable food quality, missing items, unexplained charges, and dismissive management are not a single mistake. They are a pattern. Our waitress deserved much better support, and our group deserved food prepared as ordered and concerns handled professionally. After two bad experiences in a row, Pacific Yard House has permanently lost our business.

I decided to have a lunch date with my son, and the entire outing felt peaceful, relaxed, and exactly what we needed. I ordered the Seafood Ravioli -- cheese raviolis covered in a rich crab bisque cream sauce with sautéed crawfish tails, shrimp, spinach, cherry tomatoes, and Parmesan. It was absolutely delicious and full of flavor, worth every bit of the $21.99. My son had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with applewood smoked bacon, pepper jack cheese, and Cajun honey mustard aioli. He enjoyed it completely, and at $15.49, it was a great portion and value. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was inviting, and the food was genuinely good.
