Usually we have a very good dining experience at Texas Roadhouse and I have never written a bad review for any Texas Roadhouse, but last night, June 13, deserves a review. Everything went downhill shortly after we sat down at the Conroe Texas Roadhouse. I asked for lemon for my iced tea 4 times before I finally received lemon halfway through the meal and my wife asked for honey for the rolls 3 times before finally getting the honey. Then the steaks came and my wife's steak was rare when she ordered medium, so she sent it back. The restaurant re-fired the steak and it came back almost well done with burnt butter on it. So we waited and waited for her new steak so we could enjoy the rest of our meal, but it took a long time and it really spoiled our mood. By the time my wife received her steak cooked correctly this time, she was tired, frustrated, and we just took the steak home. We probably should have canceled my wife's order, paid for mine, and went home. Hopefully we will have a better experience next time when we go back and I hope this is not a trend. read more

This is a family favorite. I love the dinning atmosphere. I can eat in peace and not worry about my kids being a bother to anyone else. Although the music is loud it fits the environment. My server Nikki was awesome. She was very attentive and polite. We ordered steaks and it was delicious. The steaks were cooked to perfection of medium well and very well seasoned. I had a great experience at the Texas Roadhouse in Conroe, picking up a to-go order, and I want to give a big shoutout to Alex for outstanding service. When I walked up to the window, he opened it right away, was very polite, and immediately asked for my order name. He let me know the order was still being packed and kindly told me it would only be about 2 minutes, which I really appreciated. When he brought the order out, he carefully went through every item to make sure everything was correct. We had a large order with 3 kids meals, 4 steaks, sides of green beans and rice, plus a separate shrimp dish, so I was impressed by how thoroughly he checked everything. I also asked for extra ranch, and even though I told him not to worry about going back inside if it, as if it was too much trouble, he reassured me that they had some right there and came back with 2 ramekins for me. Alex was courteous, patient, and went above and beyond to make sure I had exactly what I needed. Excellent customer service like that deserves recognition. Mom and I stopped in for a random dinner night, and it ended up being just what we needed. The place was kind of busy, but the vibe was cool -- that signature Roadhouse energy with the country music, clinking glasses, and the smell of grilled steak floating through the air. It felt lively without being loud, like everyone was just there to eat good and relax. We got seated right away (no wait -- love that). Every host we passed was actually talking to people, not just seating them -- asking about your day, making small talk, keeping it light. That friendly energy really set the tone. I started with the grilled shrimp appetizer, and listen... it was giving Outback's shrimp on the barbie but better. Perfectly seasoned, buttery, hot -- no notes. My Long Island had a little too much Coke (they always do unless I'm supervising), but it still did what it needed to do. Mom had a margarita that she loved. My bone-in ribeye came out medium well -- a little too cooked on the edges, but that center? Perfection. Juicy, flavorful, covered in sautéed onions and mushrooms, with a baked potato on the side. Mom ordered the Crispy Critter Salad, and it was massive -- fresh, crunchy, and delicious. She only made it halfway through. Our server was great -- I wish I remembered her name because she was on point the whole time. Drinks stayed full, food came out fast, and she had that "I actually like my job" energy you don't see everywhere anymore. Now, let's talk about that bread... We ate so much of it, it should count as a sin. Warm, soft, and that cinnamon butter? Dangerous. The only thing I missed was that old-school Texas Roadhouse feel -- the peanut shells all over the floor. Now they give you peanuts in a bag (thanks to COVID), and while you can still toss them down if you want, it's not quite the same. Still, the place keeps its charm. All in all, the food was great, the service was solid, and the ambiance was exactly what I needed after a long week -- fun, friendly, and full of good energy. The wait is always so long here since it's literally the only one on the north north side. No one is driving to Conroe to wait here if there's one nearby. The closest to this location is the one on 1960 so that's why everyone goes here. Any time I come for dinner, you're looking at 45-1 hour wait which is why I rated this a 3-star ehhhh... They need to figure out a way to shorten wait times or have a reservation system in place. Anywho, the food is good at Texas Roadhouse, but most of the time the steaks I order are always medium or medium well when I really want medium rare. It's flavorful and tender enough though that I still consider it good enough. The drinks are always good and strong. I don't recommend getting a shot in a tube glass though since it's typically bottom shelf alcohol. You can ask for top shelf but not sure what's their highest top shelf. It's always very loud in the restaurant and there's peanut shells everywhere so be careful! read more

This restaurant never disappoints. The food is always very good, especially the Caesar salads. They serve them in chilled bowls which makes a huge difference in how the lettuce tastes. The dressing is the best Caesar dressing we've had. Their steaks are always made exactly how you ask. The bread is great tasting and the "butter" is the best. We like to order a glass of wine with our meal but don't like paying as much as an entree for one. Their wines are reasonably priced and they gave us a card for a free appetizer. The place is clean, with a cheery atmosphere and not too loud. We like to sit at the bar and the bartenders always make a point to know your name and call you by your first name. This is one of my favorite places for lunch. read more

I don't normally leave reviews but I figured this one would be worth it. My girlfriend and I ate at this location last night and she was served raw shrimp twice. Before we first noticed it she took a bite and spit it out due to the "Texture", I have cooked a lot of shrimp in my day and when I looked at the shrimp on her plate it was blatantly raw! As if the cook threw it on the flat top for 30 seconds on each side. Fully translucent, I told our server that this was unacceptable she was rushing since they were getting close to closing time and promised to bring us new shrimp in a to go box and after 5 minutes she returned and gave us the box. I opened it up and once again they gave us completely raw shrimp. This is unacceptable and I would say avoid getting shrimp here if you don't want food born illness. read more

Manager Stephanie has been so amazing! She truly goes above and beyond and the Conroe location is so lucky to have her. I have daughters who have a severe nut and seafood allergy. We always stayed away from Texas Roadhouse since they have (had) peanuts everywhere. I decided to call one night and ask if there was any way they could accommodate allergies and I am so thankful we got her. She makes sure that the kitchen is fully aware and is also the one who personally takes the order so she can make sure it gets done right. I know to some this may seem like a not so big deal but for us it means a lot! It is unfortunatly rare these days to find someone like her to be patient and reassuring in such a busy atmosphere. This place is always crowded, even 30 minutes after opening it's packed. As chain restaurants go this is one of the best tee ones.. as the food goes, never had a bad meal. This time my wife got her usual.. the Dallas Fillet, mine was the fried catfish. No drinks other than a soda and a water. This time around the bread wasn't piping hot, the sever was ok, not like previous ones who were more friendly and such. Total cost with tip was $62.00, with leftovers. Once a bastion of a nice steak dinner for a moderate price; where it was near impossible to get in on a Friday or Saturday night. But oh, how the mighty have fallen. It was interesting to see the new outdoor waiting area that was built to modify the indoor area for To-Go sales. Quite a brilliant move at the time with the stranglehold of COVID on restaurants. However, the plastic sheeting meant to protect patrons from the elements was torn in several places. This invites some of the less discerning to toss peanut shells out of the holes into the parking lot and garden areas. While this offers entertainment when you're waiting 20-30 minutes to be seated, it also invites pests into your eatery. We had a larger party and were told a reasonable wait time, so we settled in and partook of the bagged peanut "appetizers." We were called in for a seat much sooner than expected, but when we made it to the second hostesses stand, we had to wait for another 10-15 minutes for some unknown reason. When asking the first hostess, we were told that our party showed to already be seated... More peanuts were offered to make up for losing our seats on the outside benches and to now be clogging up the entrance/exit to the building. From this area, we had a vista of bussers and servers idling in the entrance to the kitchen, as well as all the accumulated dust across the tops of table dividers. The joint was noisy, but it is Saturday. Miraculously, our server was able to decipher our order over the din. The chicken arrived unseasoned and cool for two different plates. And I was told the cheese fries were the same. A congealed blob of fromage looked less than appetizing and difficult to share when a single fry can pick up all the toppings. To top it off, and the real reason I chose to write the review, our server brought the tickets and prompted us to pay with the Ziosk device, rather than give her our cards. This is likely convenient for the restaurant and allows the server to move to totter tables and avoid waiting for receipts and signatures. But at other venues that use these, this always seemed to be an option, rather than the sole method. However, there was a $1.99 difference between my paper ticket and what the kiosk showed. Apparently I was being charged a convenience fee for the use of the Ziosk. Our server had disappeared, so rather than waste more time, we paid the tab, left a cash tip rather than deal further with the electronic nuisance, and left. This was a longer review than usual for me, so here is the TLDR: Cold and flavorless chicken and unappetizing cheese fries. Dusty seating areas. Convoluted wait times and Ziosk usage. Pest attracting peanut shells tossed outside the restaurant. Won't be returning unless it is Grandma's birthday and she especially wants their beef tips. read more

We have always heard good things about this place but do to the fact that the don't take reservations and they have very long wait times, this had kept us away. This past Friday evening we took our daughter in law here to celebrate her birthday. Yes, the wait was still long but we went with it even though the girls at the reception desk forgot and lost our names from the list, thus making our wait longer. One of the biggest things that I noticed was that it was very loud inside. Everyone was trying to talk over the music and this made the restaurant even louder. How loud you ask? We had great difficulty talking to each other and very difficult to communicate with our waitress who managed to get half of our orders wrong because she couldn't hear us. But, the food was really, really good. The rolls were fine and we enjoyed the Roadhouse butter. The sirloin, the porterhouse, the ribeye, the ribs and everything else we had with our meals. Although I found the chili a bit salty. The mixed drinks didn't have very much alcohol in them which was disappointing, but we still had a really nice meal taste wise overall. The wait service was slow, spotty and communication was difficult with the noise level. Overall, I would consider returning for the good food but with the long waits, slow service and high noise level, I really can't see myself returning to Texas Roadhouse anytime soon. read more

Had to wait a long time for a table, not entirely surprising on a weekend for dinner. It was about a 50 minute wait. Highly suggest getting in line online if it's an option. Rolls were tasty as always. I switched it up and got the chicken fried chicken this time with white gravy, which was very satisfying. Chicken was tender and well seasoned, very crispy on the outside. From the shine and butter to the taste and the smell they deserve to be Texas Roadhouse's most known product. Another thing, if you're looking for a quiet place to eat, eat at home. Roadhouse is not quiet and if you think it is or will be, you're crazy. The workers are nice and friendly and don't blame them if they can't hear you on your first time. And finally, it's Texas Roadhouse, try the sirloin, get it one less temperature because Roadhouse usually overcooks the sirloins so it's likely your "Well Done" will be a burnt. While I absolutely love they had a join waitlist so we didn't have to wait, the young lady working that stand seemed very lost on how to find us even with me showing her it's sent a code to our phone. The inside is loud and of course popping with people! The food was meh- they messed up one of the orders and fixed it but we were mostly done by the time it was brought back, they didn't offer to comp or anything. Every single steak was over cooked, medium was medium well etc. but we were so hungry we just ate. Our server was ok not great but ok. Overall it was an ok experience but not the best. read more

I'm in town visiting and came on a friday night expecting a crowded restaurant with lots of waiting but I have never seen such a well managed Texas Roadhouse. Our waitress, Grace, was amazing and despite us ordering all at once the food came in perfect increments. I had the 8oz steak and it was cooked to perfection. The rolls are to die for. I always have to remember not to fill up on those so that I can eat my meal. Service was great. We walked in and got seated right away. Our waitress was prompt and very friendly. I went with a group of friends, which is never truly easy for a server, but she was very patient and very attentive to a degree. The food came out fast and we were checked on quite a bit to make sure that we were happy with everything. This was all until we received the food. Once we received the food it was as if the waitress just left and we had to deal with the rest ourselves. Most of my friends who ordered 'medium rare' got their steak 'rare'. My other friends who ordered their steak medium, got their steak 'medium well', if not 'well done'. Myself included, I ordered my steak 'medium rare' and I most definitely got 'rare' If you are in town for the cinnamon and honey butter with the rolls, and margaritas, definitely come.
