We moved to Montgomery, Texas from the Washington DC area over a year ago. We have tried multiple Italian restaurants in the area since we arrived including the over-priced, over-rated italian restaurants in The Woodlands. We could not find anything as good as the Italian restaurant that we patronized for over 25 years in Northern Virginia. Then, we found Marsala's in Conroe. Marsala's was highly recommended by a neighbor. We have visited 3 times in the last 10 days and each time they exceeded our expectations. Israel waited on us on the last two occasions. He was attentive, courteous and professional. He definitely gets an A plus. During the last visit, the manager, Tammy, stopped by our table to check on us. The ambience appears to be a family run restaurant. The service is super quick. The food was delicious and the quality was consistent each time. We have spent time in Italy and it reminds us of some of the restaurants where we dined in Florence, Rome, Venice, etc. The prices are very reasonable including the wine. Nowhere else would you be able to find a bottle (yes, a bottle) of Italian wine at a restaurant for $15 (Thursday's wine special). Marsalas is now our go to place for Italian food. read more

I visited this highly rated Italian spot in Conroe which reminded me a little of a spot in the Humble/Atascocita area since they both advertise their supposedly outstanding garlic knots. Come to find out Marsala's also has a location in Huffman, but they are not related to my other fav spot. Inside, the restaurant is actually small, I was expecting it to be much larger. They do bring you their garlic knots right at the beginning of the meal, but they did not look or taste much like my other fav Italian place in NE Houston. The bread at Marsala's was dry and crusty (the other place has soft and pillowy bread) and there was no drippings or garlic butter resting at the bottom of the bowl, so I just ate a little of the interior of the knot itself. I ended up choosing a lighter dish, shrimp scampi, since I was still full from lunch and my dining companion chose the chicken penne. I'm not sure whether the chef was out sick or what happened exactly, but both dishes came out from the kitchen really bland. There was no salt or seasoning to the food. The pasta also didn't seem like the water was salted during cooking. We mentioned this issue to our server, who then told the manager. They were really apologetic and even comped our entrees even though that wasn't our original intention. I just wanted to know what happened and why there was no seasoning at all in the food. We left and of course didn't bother to order dessert. In summary, the service was really good, I will give them that much, but the food was barely edible. I'm just not sure I would even come back to try other dishes since these two we ordered just could have been so much better. read more

My friends and I are in town for a convention and stopped by since our hotel is nearby and the reviews are high. I felt overall the place was small and the service was relatively slow in comparison to the amount of people there. Everything just seemed to take a little while. The bread was HUGE and a great part of the meal. Easily one roll was 2-3 normal ones and tasted great. Piccata is my judgement dish of choice when visiting a new Italian place and I found this one lacking a bit. The tomatoes and artichokes were a strange choice, the veal was breaded like Parmesan and the breading was constantly falling off, and overall the sauce was relatively flavorless. It wasn't a gross dish, but I felt it didn't truly represent piccata. We don't regret coming here, and of course are only tourists, but I personally might not come here again. read more

Marsala has my heart! It's so wonderful to find a restaurant with amazing food and exceptional service. In general, I think this was a solid dinner place option. Food- I ordered the caprese pasta and a happy hour appetizer and a happy hour wine. Everyone else ordered everything from steak to pastas. Generally all happy and no complaints. Service- I didn't catch his name though.The server we had was very quick.He was happy to answer any questions. We did need to ask for the specials but and he didn't keep us in the loop about our orders but he seemed kind and available when needed. I would say he struggled a little bit with addressing the table as the other side of the table didn't hear the specials and also, he didn't ask the table about desserts. Parking- this is a shared parking lot with a variety of businesses.Generally it's tighter parking. Atmosphere- this placeMore feels homey and doesn't have any errors of being pretentious. What a wonderful little place I stumbled upon. I was in town for a night and there was nothing near my hotel but an IHOP or Denny's, I don't remember which one. So I pulled out Yelp and looked around to see what was in my area. I saw this place and thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did! The place is in a very small strip center. The place is small and cozy. After being seated I was served by a very nice young woman with a pleasant smile. She explained the specials to me and I was immediately interested in the redfish special with shrimp and mushrooms in a white sauce. I ordered that and while I waited I was presented with the largest garlic knot I've ever seen! My dish arrived piping hot and was very good. If you are a veggie lover, the mushrooms and green onions were very fresh. I usually prefer them sauteed more, but these would satisfy a mushroom lover! They appeared to have been folded into the sauce right before plating. I looked over the dessert menu after devouring my fish, when my server mentioned they could do a half portion of dessert! I don't think I've ever come across this before so naturally I had to partake even though I was full. I got the tiramisu which was a perfect end to the meal. This place seems like a neighborhood place as most of the patrons seemed to know the staff. It's near a neighborhood so I imagine many people walk here for dinner. Stopped by here during a weekend trip to Conroe from Austin. Everything, service, ambiance, and especially food. Were excellent!! Started with stuffed mushrooms app which came with a cream sauce! The salmon Tuscany on a bed of spinach, and the grilled chicken penne caprese were both excellent!! Our server Israel, provided excellent service from the time we sat down until our departure! Definitely worth stopping in if you are in the area. Reservations are accepted as well which might be a good idea depending on time of day. AND! Don't pass on the dessert! My husband and I tried a new place last night. It's always a ridk, but last night was a flat failure. The reviews are great, so good for them -- but *this is not Italian food.*. Their white sauce is NOT AN ALFREDO, which is butter and Parmesan. It is a cream gravy, unsalted, which they seem to put on everything that's not red sauce. The sauted spinach which I ordered was a small handful, mostly raw, that came soaked in about 1/4 cup or more olive oil. Again, NO seasoning, no garlic in ANY dish, and the angel hair was overcooked and mushy. I do not believe that the people who rave in these rebiews know what the original dishes taste like. This was so bad that if somebody offered me this or Olive Garden, I would go there. It might not be italian food they serve there either, but at least you can taste it when they give you something. And the service was lackadaisical, and manager during our after conversation could not figure out that if someone cannot eat food, payment shouldn't be demanded. So it's a cafe, with pounded breaded chicken cutlets with cream gravy. Call it breaded chicken with country gravy, not chicken piccatta. read more

Out in Conroe, looking for a quick dinner and ran across Marsala's. The parking lot was full and there were people waiting for tables which we took for a good sign. The interior of the restaurant is dated, dusty grape foliage and disproportionate faux brick work so it was like teleporting back in time. The menu looked good though the addition of chopped tomato to piccata sauce was telling. That and being told by a regular that the lasagna was similar to Olive Garden. Not what I would liken to authentic but there are those that are fans. The meal started well with light and tasty garlic knots. We settled on the lasagna and the veal Marsala as our entrees. The lasagna was a dryer version of the dish covered with a heaping pile of meat sauce that did much to offset the dryness. The veal Marsala was featured a white sauce (??!) with a few mushrooms that tasted like pancake batter with a touch of Marsala wine mixed. I've never seen the sauce in anything less than brown and wondered if they just were making a new batch and didn't want me to wait for it to cook down. Disappointing. read more

Date night found our usual Italian place, Tuscany Grill closed for remodeling which sound ominous. We searched and found Marsala's not far away. Jason, our waiter was on the mark with drink refills and checking on our dining. Wife had Shrimp Alfredo, my choice, fav Lasagna! Portions were just right, bread was great but meant to ask did they have some dipping oil to go with the bread. Prices are very fair! Came here for dinner with a friend about a week ago. I found myself to be a little more impressed than I expected. First off, I'm originally from Chicago which is a large hub of Italian eateries so I'm a bit critical of Italian restaurants since I've frequented my fair share of them back home, not to mention my Italian friends who've cooked for me over the years. My expectations were low coming here. We received the starter plate of garlic knots. These legit had me hooked from jump! Very soft, buttery, seasoned well and just melt in your mouth. I could literally just have a plate of these garlic knots by themselves! Hands down some it the best starter rolls I've had a restaurant to date. They were so good, my friend ordered a second plate. Our waitress Tatum was very friendly and helpful. She gave us some practical suggestions based on her favorites. I decided on the vodka sauce ravioli. I have a friend in Chicago who makes a really good homemade vodka sauce. This was very comparable to hers. Good consistent creamy texture, complex flavor of Italian herbs and well seasoned. It complemented the ravioli well which was perfectly cooked al dente. It was quite an enjoyable meal. The atmosphere was perfect for a date night. Very calming and low lighting with modest decoration. This is a little gem tucked in the middle nowhere Conroe, next to a gas station that I would've easily slept on. Looks can be deceiving. From the outside not much to write home about. That said everything else was very very good. They opened the door for our party. Sat us immediately. I ordered a family meal to go. When I got to this place to pick up my order, there was a waiting line to dine in. It smelled delicious and the lady at the counter already knew about my order. I ordered the alfredo pasta with chicken. I honestly feel like it could have had a bit more flavor, it was a bit plain. It was very full. I also ordered the fried calamari, the flavor was delicious but all the coating fell off by the time we got home. The bread was soft and fresh, just delicious we also ordered the spinach and artichoke dip and it was delicious. I will come back for sure and will recommend it to my friends. Dinner tonight was a real treat...a little spot called Marsala's Italian Grill. I was seated and my server Grier got me set up with a beer and water while I looked things over. I had read the reviews here and was determined to try their jalapeño cream sauce. When she returned I ordered the Chicken Marsala along with a small side dish of spaghetti with the jalapeño cream sauce. The garlic knots they serve are unbelievable...silky soft on the inside and a nice firm crust slathered in oils, butter, parmesan cheese, and garlic...it's tough not to eat the entire plate. The chicken marsala...excellent. The chicken is nicely breaded and the sauce is has a light marsala wine flavor with a subtle sweetness. As for the side spaghetti dish with the jalapeño cream sauce, one of the most unusual and delicious sauces I have enjoyed in a long time. The sauce is not "hot & spicy" due to the jalapeños, but the distinct flavors of the jalapeños really made this a special sauce. The bread pudding for dessert was really good, easy to tell this was a inhouse creation. The service here is great and Grier took wonderful care of me. I was also visited by the Manager Tammy who inquired about my experience. She told me how things are created from scratch inhouse and she is very proud of the restaurant. read more

This is a nice little place in a strip mall tucked away on the side behind a Chevron Station. I didn't know it was there all the times I drove by. My family and I went for the first time today, we were not disappointed! I had the spaghetti with meatballs and my wife had the lasagna, both were very good! This is a small kind of hidden place in a little strip mall. The restaurant is nice. It's cozy. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. I got the lasagna which was a huge portion. I took half home for dinner. My husband got the spaghetti and meatballs which he said was excellent as well. I like their bread, however I do wish they offered olive oil to dip it in like some places. I'll definitely return and try the chicken marsala. read more

The food here is always consistent. I enjoy the Pollo Venetto, the house salad and dressing , very nice. My wife has tried several pasta dishes and has enjoyed the gamut. She has had the desserts as well. Of particular fame is the Carrot Cake, the Italian Cream Cake and Cannoli are top shelf as well. We usually pickup or door dash here as the dining room is tiny. The staff are always great either way. Highly recommend Marsala's Conroe. read more

My super new GO TO Spot for top notch, excellent al dente pasta, garlic knots perfect for sopping up the delicious sauce from your pasta, I mean the list goes on. 5 Stars - Food I had the special, no name, shrimp, chicken, super stuffed cheese tortilini perfectly Al dente, sun dried tomatoes in a cream pesto sauce, superb!!! Chicken Florentine - Again perfectly cooked plate of angel hair, excellent tender seasoned chicken breast & spinach nestled in cream sauce. I'm thinking everything here is a winner! The complementary garlic butter bread knots, fabulous! The gentleman at the table next me who had the lasagna, so thick tall full of goodness was mouthwatering just viewing it and the couple at the next table with the super thick tender steak, my my...do yourself a favor & support this local spot. Because this is one of my favorite places I've found in the area. --- --- --- We have been on a bit of a local food tour over the holidays and our first visit was basically flawless, despite it being a to-go order. First off, I was surprised as I pulled up to see this place share a parking lot with a Valero. What is it with this area where the best Italian-based eateries have gas stations in their parking lots? (Tony's) I was tempted by several things on the menu, but ended up choosing chicken marsala. It's usually a sound decision to order the namesake of the restaurant. And it paid off for me. I loved every bite. The only thing I wish had been different is getting to enjoy this hot and fresh in the restaurant. We definitely will do that next time. My wife was torn between the chicken parm and the lasagna. I voted for the parm, but in typical wife fashion, she went with the opposite of what I said. But I enjoyed stealing a few bites of it, regardless. We also both ordered house salads with vinaigrette. They were perfect. Wouldn't change a thing. I had the veal picatta, my buddy had a chicken Alfredo dish. While Alfredo isn't a dish that I usually order, I might make an exception for Marsala's. He loved it, and it looked delicious. Mine was really good. The veal picatta was really good. Perfectly pan fried, thin cut, and sliced, the veal was placed on a bed of angel hair pasta with a light lemon and white wine sauce, tomatoes, capers, and herbs. It was one of the better Italian dishes I've had. I also particularly enjoyed the service AND THE ATMOSPHERE! Very live music played quietly in the background. The decorations weren't expensive, nor were they ostentatious. Great little restaurant. read more

So we were in the area and searched for Italian restaurants near me and this had 4.7 ..... started off with the garlic knots and OMG so delicious slightly crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. Then we got the spinach artichoke dip and it was great to have a bigger piece of garlic bread to put the dip on. For our entrées, I got the chicken piccata and had them add spinach to it and my husband had the chicken Parmesan and both of them were so delicious. The portions are large so we know we get to enjoy the leftovers at home. And the atmosphere is very comfortable. The staff was very nice and friendly. We will definitely be returning. read more

My third trip to this location as a different restaurant. HOWEVER, I truly hope that this one is to stay. The garlic knots are a fantastic tantalizer. The menu has some fantastic choice and the pricing is below what you would expect for the quality they serve. The Veneto beef tenderloin with bacon and cream sauce is tender and well balanced. Excellently paired with the Super Tuscan for $8 a glass. A great idea for those of you looking to enjoy yourself but cut carbs, sub your pasta for thinly sliced veggies. These are NOT zoodles but sautéed veg with an excellent bite like al dente.
