Worst Valentine's Day Restaurant Experience of My Life This was, without exaggeration, the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. We arrived on Valentine's Day with a reservation and were not seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time, which should have been the first warning sign. Once seated, things only went downhill. Our server brought our bottle of wine, dropped it on the table unopened, and then disappeared. It took another 10 minutes before they returned to actually open. We placed our food order and then... nothing. Absolutely nothing. No food. No updates. No check-ins. We sat at the table for an hour and fifteen minutes after ordering without a single dish arriving. At that point, we had no choice but to leave, still hungry and completely frustrated. The only reason this review isn't even worse is because the manager at least had the decency to comp our bottle of wine, which was appreciated--but it doesn't come close to making up for the ruined evening. The staff appeared, overwhelmed, as if Valentine's Day snuck up on them. Valentine's Day is supposed to be special. Instead, this restaurant delivered disorganization, neglect, and a total lack of basic service. If you're looking for a place to waste your time, patience, and appetite, this is it. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. read more

My husband and I went here for our 5th anniversary dinner. We split a bottle of wine for only $29, so that was lovely. We had the risotto balls as an appetizer, and I had the Margherita pizza for dinner while my husband had the chicken Marsala. I've never had anything quite like the risotto balls, and I mean that as a compliment. They had a blend of cheese in them that was herby, earthy, and complex. Absolutely stunning. We had the tiramisu for dessert, also so good and a big slice. The only thing I'll note for next time is to ask for a different seat, they sat us towards the back by the kitchen doors so it was a little noisy. read more

MY GOODNESS! The food was absolutely delicious. We stopped in for dinner on Sunday around 5:30, not crowded at all. We did indulge in the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu and was not disappointed. Everything we had was literally phenomenal. The wait staff were very kind and gave a great recommendation for a wine, forgot to get the name but it was a Sauvignon Blanc. Just FYI, the restaurant is also BYOB so that was kind of cool. Go check it out, you won't be disappointed. I will definitely be back! read more

We've tried their Houston location and it was terrible. We chalked it up to the local management and figured the woodlands would be different. Unfortunately this one wasn't great either. The only difference was that while Houston was downright rude, here it was just mediocre and inattentive. Painfully slow service. Our tables would be a mess with empty appetiser plates sitting while we were on entrees, water cups wouldn't be refilled and we had to constantly ask for refills. Had to remind them multiple times to bring a kid's cup. Food was overpriced and truly underwhelming. I appreciate my pasta cooked al dente, but I don't think they know the difference between al dente and simply raw. $20 for a kids pasta is insane. There is not a single redeeming quality about this place. I would truly not recommend it at all. It's the sort of place that puts you in a bad mood and ruins your evening. read more

Wow! I had heard about this place and needed a convenient spot to feed my 6 and 4 year old grandkids. Pizza and pasta made sense so off we went. Let's just say I underestimated the elegance of the spot and the clientele were business people and older locals. Not another kid in sight and there is no kids menu. When I approached the check-in, the manager said they only had one table available without a reservation. Clearly I had not used my Yelp chops effectively thinking "what pizza/pasta joint needs reservations?" So glad they had a spot for us. The kids enjoyed their cheese pizza and spaghetti and meatballs and I took home the beet salad (for me) and wild boar pasta (for hubby). And I drank a big house cab while the kids ate. My wife and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We made reservations online and we were greeted with a smile when we arrived. This is in a mixed use area in the Woodlands. The parking is directly behind the restaurant in a covered a garage, which is super convenient. Since this was our first time at the restaurant I had tons of questions. Jessica our server was super helpful If you love your wines this place is an awesome pick for you. My wife and I don't drink, so we went strictly for the food. Here's what we ate: Calabrese Crisp Shrimp: this was served on a bed of lettuce covered with tasty Chili Aioli For me: Ella's Caesar Salad: it was good, but it could have be better if the salad greens and plate were chilled My wife: Caprese Salad: she thought it was awesome Wild Boar Bolognese: was outstanding! The depth of flavor was exceptional and portion and temperature of the dish was sufficient for two to share. Barramundi Sea Bass for my wife: it was presented well, cooked perfectly, and my wife really enjoyed it Veal and Risotto for me: the presentation was ok, but not exceptional, food temperature was awesome, and flavor of the risotto was over the top. My veal was just ok. I was not impressed with the flavor, and it was not as tender as I expected. My asparagus was tasty once I trimmed the tough unchewable woodsy bottom pieces from it. That should have been done during prep. We had a shake with cookies on a decorated plate for dessert. The shake was very good, but the cookies lacked the depth of flavor I expected. Had a fantastic birthday meal with special friends. Wanted to eat light, so we shared Wild Boar Bolognese, Barramundi Sea Bass, and heavenly, Honey Roasted Brussels Sprouts. Started with a Caymus then added a bottle of Juggernaut Sauvignon Blanc. Airy Tiramisu for dessert and a surprise birthday frozen adult treat from our wonderful and attentive server Louis were the final perfect finish to a perfect evening. Have already made plans to come back for the next birthday celebration in April. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem. read more

We really enjoy Porta'Vino! Love their balloon bread, salmon carpaccio app and their grilled salmon on top of any salad is delicious! My husband enjoyed his spaghetti and meatballs a lot. We went to this place several times and the food was great. The I found that these fools charge you $3.50 because you asked for a refill on your tea. I thought it was a mistake that they charged us for 2 glasses of tea when we only ordered one. The waiter said no that was a management decision. Amazing restaurant! Our waiter was Devin and he was amazing; super personable, attentive, and overall had great customer service. The atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly as many of the other staff were talking to us throughout our meal. The manager also seemed very friendly as he talked to us at the end of our meal to see how everything was going. All the appetizers were FANTASTIC!! It had a lot of extra beading. Much better calamari at Hearsay on the Waterway. For main, we had veal and pork chop. The pork chop was excellent. The veal was beaten very thin and was soggy because the risotto was watery. The risotto was mediocre at best. Not what you'd expect from an Italian restaurant. Watery and mushroom non existeNt. We went there for their Easter Brunch special. The food was horrible. My husband ordered the Caesar salad and the lettuce was yellow and it had hardly any dressing on it. One of the focaccia breads on his Eggs Benedict was burnt. I enjoyed my yogurt parfait, but the shrimp on my blackened shrimp dish were tiny and not blackened, or even grilled. Arrived shortly after 5:15 and only one other table was being served and that was outside. We were seated almost at the back of the restaurant facing the kitchen and what was disturbing and unenjoyable is that due to table placement, 1/2 the restaurant guests will face the kitchen! I saw the cooks heads moving about in the window, plus the wait staff walking in and out the doors my entire meal - very distracting. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and our waiter Luis was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. We shared the beet salad which was wonderful then hubs had the Wild Board Bolognese which he loved and I had the lasagna which was one of the best I've ever had. Luis recommended the "milk shake" for dessert he enjoyed and I ordered the coconut creme pie to share. That tasted like it came from House of Pies - VERY unappealing. Before we ordered dessert we asked to speak to the manager who's name is Steve and Luis passed on our request. He spoke to another table and never acknowledged us - more than 15 minutes. read more

We went to dinner there on Friday evening and we were seated immediately. Staff was attentive, kind and helpful all the way through the meal. The service wasn't the issue and isn't the reason I left 3 stars. The food...... oh the food. My husband order the arrancini cheese balls as an appetizer, and those were very good. Then the salads came out, one house for me and a Cesar for him. Both were lacking in dressing and the green were wilted like they'd been sitting out awhile. We ordered a margherita pizza to split...... y'all this was a $17 pizza that came out with 4 small slices. It was a reheated, lackluster cheese pizza that they threw on some tomato slices and some flavorless chopped basil at the end and called it good. It was edible but not by much. And definitely not worth $17. Then there's the wine.... The basis of this place is the wine, and I've been before and had great wine. This time we chose to skip ordering a bottle and just wanted a glass each. The options are ridiculously limited for by the glass options. You had a $9 house option and the other two were $25 and $45 for a glass!!! We settled on a glass of house red and what we got was terrible. You could tell it had been opened a while, it was on the verge of going bad and had a terrible sour after taste. I have worked specifically in the wine industry a good portion of my life both in California and Texas, and I realize that house wine isn't the top shelf bottles but this was absolutely horrid. I didn't even finish my glass. My husband drank it because we bought it- and only for that reason. I want to love this place and go back, but if terrible, sour house wine and a $17 half-assed pizza is what you get, then I'll find someplace else to frequent. I hope they get it together in the kitchen, because the staff and service are on point. read more
