Summary: A win. Ambience: Dive restaurant mixed with old quaint house. You can expect that this place is not gonna look brand new, and you might find a tablecloth is torn. Food: everyone who was at the meal enjoyed their meal, and there was no complaints.Also, the portions were decently sized, which was always pleasant. Drinks: limited in drink menu but fairly priced. I was also really surprised, but their house wine was actually pretty good Parking: we ended up parking across the parking lot, but there is a very, very small lot next to that building. Value: i absolutely would go here again. I'm surprised this place isn't more popular and more busy. I will say they could have a positive impact by having some music. Saturday night at Villa Italia wasn't very busy. The gentleman who seated me told us that the early diners at left already for the local theatre. We were seated in the front room. The atmosphere is quaint and welcoming. Typical "Italian " restaurant themed photos and paraphernalia abound. Our servers we very pleasant. The menu is small but contains a nice selection of typical Italian dishes. My wife chose the Tortellini Alla Pana and I chose Spaghetti and Meatballs. Nice side salads come with the entrees and garlic bread. The Tortellini looked and tasted amazing. The Spaghetti sauce and meatballs were mediocre. The garlic bread looked like store bought hotdog buns and were stale and dry. We really liked the restaurant and hope the short-comings were due to the lack of business and will give the place another try. read more

Our family had a wonderful birthday celebration at Villa Italia. The management kindly opened on a Sunday evening just for us and we had delicious food and good service. The vintage atmosphere is unusual and enjoyable. Looking forward to going again during regular hours. I always love local restaurants that offer great food and excellent service, and Villa Italia is just this kind of place. Located in the downtown area of Conroe, Villa Italia is located in an old house converted to a quaint restaurant. On the night I was here Maria and I were the only guests. We reviewed the menu and I selected the Tomato Basil soup as an entree, Maria selected the Spaghetti with meatballs. If an Italian restaurant messes these 2 staples up, they should not call themselves Italian. Fortunately Villa Italia served a delicious bowl of tomato soup with warm garlic bread. It was well seasoned with large pieces of fresh tomato in a rich tomato base. The fresh basil gave the soup a fresh bite. The spaghetti pasta was perfectly prepared with a light marinara that while light was not lacking in fresh flavor. The meatballs were delicious with a soft juicy texture. I really enjoyed Villa Italia and do plan to return soon with friends and family. Support this locally owned non-chain restaurant - you will not be disappointed. read more

This place is KITSCHY and I adore it! The atmosphere is amazing...you really feel like you're at someone's house. We hosted a dinner business meeting here and it was perfect. Intimate and private setting which allows for confidential dialogue. I gave this review 3 stars because I wasn't impressed with the food. Now, allow me to clarify. The food was brought out piping hot which is always a plus. It was served timely and the staff was pleasant. But the food was bland. I ordered the chicken alfredo and I wasn't pleased. The dessert was a slice of chocolate cake and I'm pretty sure the slice was from a Sam's or Costco platter. Nothing wrong with that, but I wss disappointed. Lastly, I think the wait staff forgot about our group after they served our food. My colleague got up to find a pitcher of water and replenished our glasses because we hadn't been checked on. Maybe they were "off" on this day. Despite the above, I'd return to try another dish and give them another shot. read more

Was there with a party of 6. Looked like the red sauce dinners we OK. Ever lemon / white wine dish was not good. Bread & salads not anything special. Salad's bland. Ordered mushroom soup .. bland! My snapper was swimming in a watery sauce and way too much lemon. Wife had a chicken dish and same as my snapper/watery and not good. Won't go back. Read several 5 star reviews and totally disagree. It is a definitely a house-turned restaurant that has a quaint feel to it. I will say I did present a challenge for them with a reservation of 22 and unknowingly 9 out-of-town folks arrived at last minute; also adding church rehearsal ran late (Of which no blame to the restaurant). If anything, waitstaff can use us as an example to improve on how to improvise in situations like this and work on promptness and quick thinking after you get seated. The restaurant has a selected menu for private parties and it was NOT a disappointment - EVERYONE enjoyed their food as well as the garlic bread, salads, drinks and desserts!!! Hidden little gem. I was skeptical when I saw no one in the parking lot during lunch hour. But my mom had told me about this place and insisted I give a try. I entered the quiet home and felt like I was transported to a quiet little Italian village restaurant. I seated myself but was greeted promptly thereafter. I reviewed the lunch specials which included Chicken, Veal, lasagna and chose the salmon. Promptly after ordering the waiter/owner returned with a simple but tasty salad and warm toasted garlic bread. The moment I finished my salad my salmon came out. Steaming fresh with shrimp and a side of pasta. The salmon had a creamy wine/butter sauce with capers and asparagus. It was full of flavor and quite tasty. This place was recommended by some folks. This was my first and last visit. My wife and I went for dinner on Saturday. Ordered stuffed mushrooms as,an appetizer. I knew I was in trouble when waiter delivered their "garlic bread" which were just supermarket rolls cut,sliced and toasted with garlic powder margarine and parsley. Terrible. The stuffed mushrooms were barely cooked and stuffed with spinach and a type of cheese. The entrees were bland. I ordered a snapper special which was horrible. The fish was poached and swimming in some bland sauce as was the side of boiled pasta.. My wife ordered veal marsala. The veal was tough and the sauce was absolutely NOT marsala but just some runny brown sauce with sugar added. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Sad to report, the awesome and talented owner, Norma, recently died. She will be greatly missed by a lot of food lovers here in Conroe. There is a silver lining, however. A couple of the men who served under her are now running it (with a slight change of name...Jose's Villa Italia), and I am pleased to say, it's still pretty great. They've even put a permanent "Norma's table" in the entry way. It's nice to see her face, and know they haven't forgotten. The menu is a little smaller, but they'll make whatever you want (and fondly remember from Norma's menu) upon request, and the prices are cheaper now. I just had a delicious chicken and shrimp in a cream brandy sauce last night. YUM! read more

We came here on a whim after searching on Yelp. It's a quaint little house converted into dimly lit cozy rooms of small tables, with white tablecloths and real roses and candles if you ask or are determined to be romantic excursion. Our waiter greeted us at the door and let us choose our table. We were the only guests the day after Christmas at 6pm. We order the calamari fritti and Lambrusco. The owner visited our table and described the specials. We choose one of the specials and one dish recommended by our waiter. The bread was delivered with an olive oil and herb dip that is lovely and balanced. Everything is homemade -the bread, salad dressing and sauces. The salad had fresh tomatoes in December. We had the red snapper and the Crespolini. The bechamel on the crespolini is amazing. The standard marinara is uninspired but serviceable. The cadence of food delivery was perfection. The wait staff was pleasant and enthusiastic about selections and presentation. We happily ate all of it and decided on tiramisu and a cannoli for dessert. They indicated that the cannoli takes time. That's a fantastic sign of immediate - make to order preparation that is required for good cannoli. It was wonderful if not overly sweet. Overall, this is worth the trip. Looks like lunch had some lovely unique items not found on the dinner menu. Come and relax over some Lambrusco and solid Italian preparation. read more

My husband and I stopped by this place for a quick lunch after going to the tax office around the corner. The service was good. Our waitress was nice and courteous. We were seated right next to the music equipment, so I was glad that no one was playing during the first half of our meal. The food was just on this side of edible, though. I had the eggplant Parmesan on the lunch menu, and my husband had the chicken Parmesan. My eggplant was really soggy and pretty bland. I suspected that they had microwaved the eggplant on my plate because it came out piping hot, while the pasta next to it was lukewarm. It would also explain the sogginess. I liked the fact that a salad and a slice of cake for dessert came with the meal. They got an extra star, just for that. read more

This was our second time to eat here. The first time was fabulous, this time was horrible. First off the waiter wanted to sit us at a table right beside the door & directly in front of the air conditioner. I asked for a different table. There were 5 or 6 tables available. He sat us at a table that had not been cleaned that still had crumbles & food on the table. Last time we had the calamari which was probably the best we had ever had so we ordered it again. This time it was like fried rubber bands. I had the spaghetti bolognese. The sauce was so bitter I could not eat it. Tasted like either the garlic was burned or they over spiced with the Italian seasoning, maybe both. My husband had the tomato basil soup.
