I've never had a bad experience ever at any of the Veggie Grill and that is no exception here. When you walk in, check out the menu and seasonal offerings. Then you walk to the counter and order your food and pay. You are then handed a sign with a number and you find your seating. Don't worry about utensils and stuff, they will bring it to you when they bring you your food. Drinks are free flowing. I love their iced teas. NOM! The people that work here need to be a little better at their job. When I received my meal on April 30th, I realized that I was missing an item, when I got home. (Girl with the purple hair packed my food). I immediately called the store back and notified them about this mishap. The guy who answered the phone asked "what do you want me to do about it?" And I asked for store credit. He said this was possible and he took my information down and said that the next time I come in, I get a free meal. I was not able to take down his name since he seemed so busy and hung up right away. Today, June 3rd, I return to the store and asked about my store credit. The manager said that they no longer do store credits through the phone. They now send it over via mail. So unfortunately, until I receive that mail, I am down one meal and I paid for my meal today. After waiting a while, the people who have come after have received their meals. Their names were called so I assumed my name for my pick up would be called. NO ONE EVER CALLED MY NAME SO I HAD TO WALK UP TO THE EXPO AREA. Not a single one of the workers acknowledged my existence til I asked for my order. To top it off, I now see that I paid almost $7 for this order of Brussels Sprouts which had like 7 pieces. Will I ever return? MAYBE. JUST TO CLAIM MY FREE MEAL IF I EVER EVEN GET IT. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the cashier who took her time to explain some of their more popular menu items, as well as the promotion they were running. I wanted to taste the difference between Beyond the Burger vs. Impossible Burger (my first taste of it came from Umami Burger - Arts District, DTLA). Parking: 90mins free parking. It gets packed pretty quick, but with enough hunger-driven determination and tenacity, you'll find a spot. Setup and Service: Order and pay at the front counter. You'll get your cup, dessert and placard number. You can sit anywhere you like. It's self-served with the bottomless drinks, napkins and assorted condiments. Staff will bring out your food and utensils. They'll ask if you need anything else before leaving you to enjoy your meal. When you're done eating, staff will cleanup afterwards. They're pretty friendly and nice here. The food comes out pretty quickly. Drink: $2.75 (Bottomless Handcrafted Fountain Beverage Drinks). I tried two flavors: Ginger Hibiscus Tea and Pomegranate Green Tea. Both were cool and refreshing. The Ginger Hibiscus Tea was great when drinking and eating my meal to aid with digestion. Afterwards, the Pomegranate Green Tea served as a sweet and final palate cleanser, post meal. Free Yelp Check-in Dessert: (Valued at $3.95) Gluten-free Chocolate Brownie, which was delightful and chocolaty. Soft on the inside and crispy around the edges. A lovely dessert to end the meal. $12.95 Veggie Grill Beyond Burger + Moroccan Lentil Soup (my side choice). The Moroccan Lentil Soup was comforting and soothing. It had a little kick to it, but I enjoyed it. A wonderful way to warm up the palate. Though, I do wished that lentils were a bit heartier and choppier so that you can taste more of the lentils. Presentation wise, plain, Jane-looking. I loved that it was nicely stacked without spilling all over when I cut it in half or while holding it in my hands, but it reminded me more of the common looking burger you would generally see in a summer backyard bbq. When it came to taste, the Burger by Beyond Meat patty, which was tender and good. Honestly though, I think that the slightly charred (or maybe crispier) edges around the patty would've given it that extra oomph, juiciness and succulence along with the melted American cheese and grilled onions. Topped with housemade sauce, tomato and iceberg lettuce on a toasted sesame seed bun, which held up all the ingredients nicely. Would I get this burger again? Probably not. It didn't impressed me as much as the Impossible Burger from Umami Burger. Though, if I was to try out another burger from here, the $13.50 Luxe Burger would be my next choice. Ambience and Decor: Clean and spacious dining room. However, the tables, especially, the big booths are slightly sticky (wipe down, if needed). The ambience is pretty chilled and you don't feel rushed eating here at all. The Women's Restroom is clean, nicely stocked and well maintained. You will need the passcode to enter since it's a shared restroom area. Overall, I would still come back here again. The Beyond Burger was ok, but there's still a lot of other tasty and intriguing entrees to try out. I won't rule Veggie Grill out completely yet. read more

I am so glad there is a Veggie Grill close to me! I have a few favorites including the buffalo wrap, nachos, Sonoran bowl with veggie apple sage sausage. The veggie apple sage sausage is 2.50 more but I personally think it adds to the bowl a lot. The buffalo wrap is around 5 dollars and is basically a tortilla with shredded lettuce and a fried piece of breaded veggie chicken with buffalo sauce. It's super sour and tangy which I love. The nachos are your typical nachos with jalapeños, diced tomatoes, and you can pick breaded chicken or not breaded. I went with the breaded and it was delicious!! The only reason for the -1 Star is that I think the prices are kinda high for some things. Otherwise customer service is great and everyone is friendly. Would I come back? Out of all the vegetarian/vegan joints I have tried, I must say Veggie Grill is on the top of my list. It is fresh and does not leave my wallet crying. I have tried a variety of items off their menu and must say that their Buffalo "chicken" blows my mind every time I eat it. It tastes like real chicken. I have brought a couple of my friends here and they have the same reaction as well. You can either order their chicken by itself or with the salad. I prefer ordering their salad because why would you go to Veggie Grill and not order veggies. I tried their mondo nachos today and must say that it is really good too. I have been vegetarian for 3 weeks now and miss nachos and some other items. This definitely satisfies my cravings. Service is quick and friendly. The staff attend to your needs. You order at the front and find your own table. They give you a number and they bring your food to your table. Parking is located in the back and they share it with multiple businesses. Their vegan chickn is so good. Donno what kind of vegan soy magic this is, but the texture is lighter and less firm than actual chicken yet being hearty at the same time. When I craved VeggieGrill and bought frozen Gardein chickn and made it at home... it just didn't taste the same, VeggieGrill does it better. I highly recommend their Seoul Bowl! Their sweet & spicy gochujang sauce is delicious (tastes like korean ttokbokki sauce actually) and the combo of supergrains+rice and picked onions goes together well. You could also get their sandwiches in a spinach tortilla wrap! Craving for more chickn, had the Grillin' Chickin' in a wrap. Classic tomato-avocado-chicken combo. Very juicy! I got the zucchini soup on the side, which was meh. I love their transparency on calories, nutrition, and ingredients. Pretty helpful when you're picky like me. LOCATION - It's located on the corner intersection in the food plaza on Lake. PARKING - HORRIBLE!! They need a bigger parking lot to accomodate to all the restaurants in that plaza. It's just a shit show during peak hours, so expect to spend at least 15 minutes driving around looking for parking. Or do delivery like I do. :) COST - Average. Prices vary based on the items you get. It starts with smaller appetizers and share items for around $6 to the larger entrees like salads and burgers for $12. FOOD - Great quality!! They have so many options to choose from to fulfill any craving you. From comforts like mac & cheese, to soups and salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, tacos, and more. They also have seasonal items. There's not one dish I don't like. And the crazy thing is -- it's all fake meat... Who would've thought fake meat could taste so similar to the real thing? Especially their chicken!! SERVICE - Everytime I come here, the service is just phenomenal. All the workers look so happy working there. They elude such positive energy and genuinely look like they love their jobs! We got the buffalo wings, Nashville Hot Chickin' Sandwich, Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' Sandwich, and Far East Bowl Our all time favorite sandwich is the Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' Sandwich-vegan crispy chicken topped with smashed avocado, lettuce and tomatoes! It's crispy and yummy! The Nashville Hot Chickin'-served with coleslaw and sweet pickles. We're definitely a bigger fan of the crispy chickin'! For bowls- we love the Far East Bowl with sesame crusted chickin' which has cilantro green curry, broccolini, pickled vegetables, and wild rice! The chicken is amazing crusted with sesame seeds!! Wings-you can choose from original, barbecue, and buffalo sauce. Served with ranch and celery! Such a classic. One entrance and exit, through the Lake entrance. UPDATE 10/11/21 When I initially wrote this disappointed review I presumed that since I didn't see Veggie Grills all over California that the company was using these as test kitchens and never intended to 'go big', if you will. That was a presumption. So I Google 'Veggie Grill' to see how many other locations they did or didn't have. That is when I accidentally stumbled on information kind of confirming my suspicions. This chain IS in a transition period. Apparently it's going to split into two entities. STAND-UP Burgers is going to be their 'mass market' vegan variant of IN AND OUT. This EXPLAINS why suddenly they were offering several veggie burgers of various sizes/textures simultaneously. They're also going to open their version of a Mexican chain, MAS VEGGIES. The menu is very interesting with reasonable prices. I'm patting myself on the back for sniffing out their strategy before I learned of it. IN AND OUT and CHIPOTLE should become very nervous. It's my hope STAND UP with also feature Fried Frickin' Sandwiches -- because I'd love to see CHIK-PHOBI-A get its teeth kicked in. MY ACCIDENTALLY INSIGHTFUL REVIEW BELOW I removed my 5 Star review. I wanna say Covid changed this place but that's not really it. They've across the board 'cheapened' the menu. Corners cut everywhere. Where Veggie Grill used to be like a Vegan Cocos or Vegan Shakers (if you will), it now feels more like a Vegan McDonalds. That's not necessarily a bad thing, mind you. The original chicken was a WOW of flavor but any ordinary person would quickly conclude that it's tasty but not chicken. The new chicken offering, on the other hand, could trick a meat eater the entire time through their sandwich and be served at KFC. Yes. The old nachos used to have obvious chunks of fake meat (soy?). Now the new chunks are much smaller and look a lot like meat. But again -- I don't think they're as tasty. My partner in crime loves her fish taco. Yet it's no longer on the menu. Yet they'll make it for her if she asks. I spoke with a customer in there about the chicken and he had a 'MEH' look on his face. He said, "The menu has changed." I've come to the conclusion this and all Veggie Grill locations will eventually close. And that the reason they never popped up all over the place is that it was never their intention to do so. IMO these joints are test-kitchens for the major fast food chains -- and now that such products are appearing in Del Taco, KFC, and soon McDonalds -- their mission has been accomplished. If that's NOT the intention of Veggie Grill and they do intend to open more of these restaurants... hmm. Prices will have to drop for that to succeed. Haven't had Veggie Grill since my UCI days, so my friends and I were quite excited to reminisce on our college days over some good food. I had no idea that Veggie Grill had opened up in Pasadena - and for quite some time! Parking is really easy with the conveniently free 90 minute lots behind the numerous restaurants on Lake Ave. Order at the front of the restaurant (fast food style), find a seat with the number placard given to you, and they'll serve you your food when it's ready. Drinks/water, utensils, and sauces are all self-serve. So everything at Veggie Grill is vegetarian. I was looking at the menu and feeling confused when I read the words chicken. Now I know that's just fake chicken meat. I ordered the Santa Fe Crispy Chicken ($9.75) and changed the fries to the popular sweet potato fries. I liked that we can customize the burger to our liking - I asked for the avocado on the side to give to my friends since I'm allergic. The burger was not too bad - came with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and spicy mayo. Went together well, but honestly I'd rather pay $10 for a burger with real meat. I guess vegetarian fast food just isn't my thing. The fried chicken patty was cooked well and was pretty juicy, and I can see why people really enjoy coming here. I think if I ever had to eat here, I would order this again. My friends and I had ordered our own sweet potato fries as substituted for the regular French fries. That was a bad move considering the fact that the portion of fries was pretty tiny when we could have ordered a whole order of sweet potato fries to share (AND keep regular fries with our burger for no additional cost). But the fries were fried well and had good sweet potato taste. I liked the aioli sauce that came with the fries, too. I think another fried tried the tacos while another friend tried a different burger. They all enjoyed their meals and thought it relatively satisfying. tl;dr - Not a bad place to visit if you want to get vegetarian food. Stopped by on a weekend for a quick lunch, and cashier was able to help us expedite the order to go and make our next appointment. Best item we had was the Mediterranean super greens salad, was delicious! Both hummus and harissa sauces, and the greens already had a dressing on them, just bursting with flavor. Falafel was soso, but added some protein to the bowl. The Santa Fe chicken sandwich was unimpressionable. It needed some dominant flavor and didn't really have one. Healthy yes, memorable...not so. The sandwich comes with a side and we selected the roasted broccoli. This was just roasted broccoli, barely any seasoning, lacking in flavor. Would try a different side on a future visit. You can also get a free dessert with Yelp check in, and we selected the chocolate-churro sundae. This was the wrong choice for a rush to go order, and that's is on us. I wanted to substitute falafel for grilled chicken and to my surprise, ended up with tofu!! I already made it to Monrovia by the time I realise. While I understand mistakes do happen, it's disappointing to experience 1. On your birthday and 2. Knowing that you can't eat soy. So I basically paid $9 for a bland salad. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION! So disappointed. Spent over $80 for a bland, wilted sad meal for my family. The restaurant was absolutely filthy. I cleaned our table myself with baby wipes as there was dried food and sticky sauces all over it. The staff is miserable and beyond rude. The people who work there seem so angry it makes you wonder what is going on with the management? No forks available, all tables filled with old dishes. It's shocking how bad it is.
