My Vegan, in the city! Where have you been hiding? Not sure if My Vegan - Eagle Rock is affiliated with any of it's fellow former relative (in name) locations like the former My Vegan Studio (in Studio City) or once My Vegan Gold (in Silverlake) but it definitely is for twining, no doubts needed with it's sib in Pasadena. If you don't know, My Vegan - ER is a thriving gem on Colorado Blvd, not to far from that groovy Trader Joe's and other local favorites. It's got a cool cornerside entrance off Argus Drive giving it a residential meets city blend in a trendy plaza parking lot. The dishes are 10/10 for dine in, but apparently just as amazing for takeout! My special someone and I take turns making dinner, but he was very much tired from a long work day so we said hey let's order out and we settled on My Vegan and we're really glad we did. Their Pad Thai is an instant and flavorful favorite of my guys and while many of their appetizers, such as the Impossible Fries, Fried Tofu, Vegetable Dumplings and Soy Chicken Drumstick (w/ Buffallo or BBQ please) to name a few also called out to me... I settled on their epic Supreme Fried Rice A delicious blend of fried brown rice, soy shrimp, soy chicken, soy beef, tofu, onions, peas, scallions, garlic, tomatoes and carrots. All the portions here are big - so much so we both had leftovers for lunch the next day (which hold up great). Between the soups, salads, noodle dishes, rice plates, sides, burgers, breakfast items, house specialities, and a la carte it can be hard to settle on a dish or two, but you can't go wrong with just about anything. Do try the Yellow Noodle Curry, Angry Pork and Tom Kah for sure. Good beverages as well. Some limited but thoughtful dessert options, spacious seating and modern layout. I can't remember the last time I received terrible Thai food. If ever. Absolutely inedible. The drunken noodles (I asked for very spicy) were mild and bathed in salt. The "chicken" satay was mushy and also bathed in salt. I have a salt tooth so if I'm complaining about salt you have to trust me with how truly bad it is. And don't get me started on how absolutely terrible the tom yum noodle soup was. What on earth? So terrible. You basically just stole $50 from me. read more

As I walked in, I noticed that there weren't many customers. I had come to meet my best friend, who is vegan. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time to enjoy our meal; we felt rushed to place our orders, settle the bill, and wrap things up--all within just 20 minutes. The cashier informed us they would be closing in 30 minutes and reopening later, which took us by surprise, but we understood. I must say, the iced tea is a must-try! I ordered the yellow curry with tofu and white rice, while my best friend opted for the broccoli with brown rice and some sort of vegan meat (see picture below). The food was quite tasty, but not long after I started eating, my stomach began to hurt very badly. On the way home, I had to pull over to throw up. My gripe was mostly the food since this was a delivery. I've never tried the Eagle Rock location before but the Arroyo restaurant was closed I I wanted to watch the Dodger game. We ordered very simple dishes, Pad Thai, fried rice, and vegan rolls. I hate to be so negative, but the fried rice was much too spicy to eat. Plus it was soft and spongy rather than fried like Chinese or Japanese. We ended up throwing it away and I hate wasting food! The pad Thai was so ordinary and bland. Give this place some love!! We first tried the Pasadena location and wanted to give this one a shot too. The prices have gone up, but I'd still consider them reasonable. I love their Thai and Asian-inspired dishes, but they also have plant based burgers. Sadly, we were the only ones dining in on a Saturday night. The restaurant is nicely decorated and great for a date night. The waitress was very friendly and brought a complimentary Thai tea when there was a mistake made with another drink. Unassuming smaller restaurant in a strip mall, but Yelp didn't lie -- this place was amazing! Thoroughly satisfied a vegetarian family of four, each of whom wanted something different. We had curries, Chinese-inspired dishes, and even a carbonara. Food was great and portions were truly epic. My Vegan serves up generous portions with tastiness second to none! They were able to accommodate our group of 12-my brother called an hour ahead. There are options for every taste in Asian culture. I can't believe I've been sleeping on My Vegan! I got take out and it was ready quickly in 10 minutes. My food was packaged carefully to prevent leaking. Two vegan friends took me, my 15 year old, 17 year old, adult son and my daughter-in-law to a late lunch at MY VEGAN after a wonderful day at JPL and none of the people 30 and below would have chosen a vegan place, they went along with the restaurant selection to be courteous. It was as delicious as my taste buds remember with the most generous portion sizes. I chose the yellow curry noodles with vegetables, my goodness, such flavor. The curry was spot on, veggies were tender crisp and the noodles were so tender. My hubby chose the pad thai noodles which he also also enjoyed. I love My Vegan so much, I go here about once a week for lunch. I've enjoyed everything I've tried there, but I tend to lean towards their noodle soups. Love this Tom yum soup- spicy, hot and sour complete with vegetables (and yes I splurge for the vegan beef). I also love the wild mushroom coconut soup, as well as the yellow curry noodle. Their "Angry Pork" is a delectable vegan offering with balanced, mouthwatering flavor. On the other hand, the second time I went, I got an eggplant dish "P.E.T." Pumpkin Eggplant Tofu which was entirely forgetable with nary any flavor and tons of nearly raw eggplant that had not been infused with any cooking sauce. It was such a let down. The entire dish was bland and something I would never serve to myself or anyone else if I had made it. They are missing a certain standard of food prep, not sure their chef is ensuring a quality bar. Took awhile for me to decide as there were a couple of items I wanted to try but I had the guts to try the biryani--big mistake. I even asked it was cooked similar or the same way and she politely said no but I was curious anyway and got it. I didn't see any photos on Yelp but I was determined it may be good? Bad idea. Do not get the biryani if you imagine it to be cooked the traditional style with the protein inside steamed and cooked into the rice. Everything was separate. The coconut curry rice was good, however was disappointed in how it came out. Everything else was mediocre. The fried portobello mushrooms could use more seasoning and flavor. The dipping sauce could have been different as well, but it was sweet and sour sauce which they also included with the biryani dish which I thought was a bit odd. To our disappointment, we wanted to order another dish to make up for it. We only wanted to order as al a carte but they refused to accommodate us unfortunately. I normally would order the pad Thai which is one of my favorites in the area! But then recently I had the yellow curry noodle and my life may have changed forever! Very disappointed with this place every time my family and I come the time of closing changes . The yelp says 3:30 . We walk in at 2:35 she said only take out because they close at 3pm .
