An India-focused grocery store with excellent pantry items and a budget-friendly cooked foods section. The decor is sparse, and the value is in your face, wonderful. You can find almost every spice you need for Indian Cuisine. From whole spices to packaged, portioned ground spices, the selection is excellent. The space is crowded, and it feels authentic. The hidden gem is the cooked foods counter. Spaced and set like a cafeteria, the hot foods under the sneeze guards and hot lamps keep all the foods ready to serve and eat. It is no-nonsense. The variety and selection are ample. Best of all, the value is reasonable. The small parking lot is located on the west side of the building. Otherwise, street parking is metered.

I was happy with combo #2. It was just enough food and a good variety with 2 curries, rice, samosa, bread, and I like that they also threw in some fresh salad to balance everything out. And all for $9 at the time of writing this so definitely a good value! I got paneer with green peas, and the veggie balls - both were great. One thing to note though, all their choices are vegetarian. The store is also nice, but some items are priced higher than elsewhere. They do, obviously, cary a lot of items you can't find in a non Indian store. One thing I really don't like about the store is that many items have no price tags so it's a guessing game - you want to pick up something, could be $2 or $12, you just never know.

We decided to try this spot out after a tiktok about it came across our fyp. We heard they had a great deal on hot food and with an Indian grocery attached we knew it was a place we had to check out. The restaurant side is straightforward, the hot food on display, steaming and ready to be served. Next to it a bakery case full of sweets of various shapes, colors and textures. Surrounding us were various religious figures from India and some canned coconut milk on sale, buy one get one free. We ordered a #2 Combo with Chana Masala and Dal. Plus two small chai. A heads up, this spot is all vegetarian and vegan, which I didn't mind but don't come here expecting Chicken Tikka or Lamb Vindaloo. It came with basmati rice, salad, yogurt sauce, pickle, samosa and warm roti. The Chana and the Dal had lovely spice without being overwhelming in heat. Nothing spectacular but an overall solid meal. The salad was a mix of cabbage and red onion, crisp and cool to balance the dish. The samosa was room temperature and I wish it was served hot like the rest of the food. The sauces served with it were flavorsome, a sweet tamarind and a tangy green sauce. The chai had a nice slight spiciness to it. A good way to take off the chill of this cool LA evening. After eating, we explored the grocery. Aisle after aisle was a discovery of spices, incense and pantry goods. They offered an interesting selection of hard to find specialty beverages and produce. The store was packed with items but still managed to be clean and organized. I took the opportunity to snag some Cadbury bars you don't see in the US that often. Finally, we swung back by the sweets counter on our way out and got a mix. Everything was quite pleasing and the different textures was a joy to experience. This spot is one of a few locations, but it feels like a hidden gem in the neighborhood. Bright murals paint the sides to draw attention as you walk by. Humble interior, good food, good portions and good people. Would definitely come back if I lived nearby.

    Great price for lunch!

I had a lot of fun here with the family today. We are trying out making more Indian food at home and wanted to come here for the expansive choices of spices. We went aisle by aisle and looked at all the different brands and foods they offered. There was even an aisle for flour and we are big on baking and got a new pasta maker, so we were exited to see various brands of rice flour and multi grain flour. We ended up getting spices, flour, curry paste, tomato paste, cheese and frozen food. The key ingredients we needed that is not readily available at a regular grocery store. On the way out we did want to try some food. We just wanted samosas, but we ended up also getting a combo #1 curry that includes two curries and rice. My 14th month old is a very picky eater, but he ate a whole samosa for the first time! The chutnies that came with the samosas were the highlight for me. Very flavorful. Nice kick. For the combo we got the Dal and the Peas and Cheese curry. The price for the combos are very reasonable for a complete meal. Good to mention that the food is vegetarian. Parking: they have their own parking lot and there is ample meter parking on the street

I don't know about you, but this is by far the worst South Indian food I've ever eaten. That's not how coconut chutney should look, and the sambar was like drinking tomato soup--complete miss. The masala dosa shouldn't look like that; it should be filled with mashed potatoes sautéed with onions, curry leaves, mustard seeds, turmeric powder, chili powder garam masala and the list goes on. The idli--if you threw them on the floor, it would probably hurt someone. Idli should be soft and pillowy.. sigh. And lastly, the vadai... it's like you're cutting corners on the actual ingredients to save money. It's a hard NO for me. Again, as a Tamil South Indian, we do not cook food this way. That lady that prepared the mean was nice. Place looks like a typical Indian food stall will not come back for the food but for the sweets only.

I felt like a vegetarian meal, so I ended up at India Sweets & Spices: it's half grocery market and food stall cafe (cafeteria like). The pre-made food is mainly ALL VEGETARIAN/VEGAN items. Lots to choose from; a combo meal is a good option to start with or ask for recommendations. The menu is broken down by Northern/Southern Indian regional specialties: offered as Combos, Snacks, and Desserts/Drinks. You order at the counter then find a seat. No frills type place. Friendly environment. There's parking on the premises; however, it's a little tight during peak lunch/dinner rush. You can park on the side streets. Credit Cards are accepted.

India Sweets & Spices is really a special type of Indian grocery store. While you will find typical spices, vegetables and prepared food, there's so much more. Located on Los Feliz, look for the Folk Art depiction of the many-armed goddess, Lady Durga. Inside, as said, you have a grocery store for nearly all your South Asian cooking needs. But then, if you take a right, you find a large cafeteria. Now, at first glance, the cafeteria doesn't look particularly special. This is definitely NOT an Indian restaurant. The tables are very simple and the walls are pretty plain. And there's no waitstaff. The food, however...now that's a different story. For under ten dollars you can get a HUGE tray of Indian vegetarian food. You can get one or two curries, rice, bread (like naan or chapati), sauces, pickle and dessert. And the food is very tasty. I've never been able to finish everything on my tray, even when I was famished. I suggest checking out both the store and the cafeteria during the same visit as its fun to check out the ingredients, but also the housewares, religious paraphernalia, henna and beauty supplies used by the local South Asian community. Definitely recommend.

(Take-out: 03/07/26)…read more IN SHORT: Beyond exceptional - phenomenal - sensational. My take-out was popadoms, mango pickle, carrot pickle, garlic basil naan, mulligatawny soup, chicken buna, chicken balti, fried rice. PROS: insanely delicious and authentic Indian cuisine, succulent tender & crumbly chicken (100% very fresh white meat), melt in the mouth awesomeness, the freshest of spices & ingredients, with exceptionally-good service - top notch, lovely staff. In short, the BEST Indian cuisine I have ever had in Los Angeles. You will NOT regret this choice of restaurant, I guarantee. CONS: Almost none, but I would say the poppadoms were advertised as 4, but were more like 2 - difficult to tell since they come in broken pieces in a small brown paper bag (for take-out); also, the garlic basil naan was a little too 'doughy' for my personal liking, but that's just me - no biggie whatsoever - it was still fabulous. Limited parking on the lot, but street parking all around in the historical neighborhood of sweet Los Feliz. Inside, the main restaurant is medium-sized (cosy & intimate, certainly not cramped) and totally gorgeous - plush decor, terrific ambience, high-class romantic vibes, perfect lighting and music, with very pleasant seating booths for parties of four, and the some additional tables for two. Great choice for a date night. SPICE LEVEL ADVISORY: I had requested my two curry dishes as spice level 'hot', and they really were at the top-end of my tastebud limits (I am a very experienced curry diner from Manchester, England, where hot really does mean hot!) - both dishes were truly out-of-this-world (no exaggeration), but they really blew my socks off - in a good way. Can't imagine having spice level 'very hot' as I'm sure that would be WAY too much for me to handle. But, you on the other hand, should totally go for it - if you dare! :-) In conclusion, I was literally blown-away by this wonderful restaurant - both metaphorically and gastronomically. Thank you to the lovely lady and her brother who made this, my first try-out, unforgettable. From this day forward, my 'go-to' Indian restaurant without hesitation. Finally, I found you! :-)

I was comfortably surrounded by locals, which always makes me feel like I've found something special. I sat at a small table for two by the window. The lighting was warm and sunset-like--bright enough to read the menu and feel alive, yet ambient, like the height of golden hour. The space felt sophisticated but still chill and low-key. It was airy, almost like dining inside a series of curtained cabanas. The service was excellent: attentive without being stuffy or haughty. When I asked for recommendations, I received confident and specific answers. The food arrived fairly quickly, and my appetizers came out with perfect timing, giving me plenty of time to enjoy them before my entrée arrived. I ordered the Mackerel Croquette and the Shrimp Kurrypanada. I enjoyed both. The croquette was mild and flavorful without tasting fishy. The shrimp kurrypanada had deep flavor, and there was shrimp in every single bite. I give both a 7.8/10. Next came the Mango Pineapple Lassee. Perfection. Not too sweet and not too thick. I almost drank the entire thing before my dinner arrived, but somehow managed to hold back. By the end of the meal, though, every last drop was gone. 10/10. For my main course, I ordered the Deviled Chicken. It tasted like Sri Lankan soul food--deeply spiced and tossed with fresh tomato, onion, and bell pepper. Smoky, spicy, and absolutely phenomenal paired with the fried rice, which was lighter and airier than Chinese fried rice while still holding its own flavor-wise. I give it an 8/10. Overall, this was a wonderful dining experience. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and flavorful food. So yeah... I left here feeling like I had just returned from a solo trip to Sri Lanka.

My friend got Indian food a few weeks ago so I felt inspired to get some too (or Pakistani food,…read morenot sure). Regardless, I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed it. I love how big the naan is that they give you. They make it fresh too. Even though I've tried a bunch of their skewers, this time I tried the fish karahi, which came with my choice of naan or rice. I chose naan. It was really good but it was a little too spicy for me. The cashier told me they could add yogurt the next time around. However, what really stood out is how the fish was cooked. I feel in American restaurants, fish is just cooked in a way that makes it just taste ok. However, at like Chinese restaurants, they really know how to make the fish taste amazing and have it be so plump and juicy. They make their fish like that here! The juicy and plump way where you're just like, "Wow I just want to keep eating this!" I also got a chicken roll too which is fried and crispy. Good appetizer. They also have water for free here too but I didn't see the dispenser so I just brought something from my car in. The ambiance is cozy here. Nice seating area. Dark meat chicken kabob, best in LA!…read more I've been to over 50 kabob places around LA, lived near Glendale for a decade, tried all the famous sit down establisments to the not so famous hole in the wall joints but this to me is the best chicken kabob I've ever had in LA, or ever actually. First of all, the fact that you can choose dark meat is unique and appreciated. Secondly their rice is alway so well done, perfection. Third, their sides are incredible, creamy hummus, a bright and vibrant Shiraz salad and their garlic toum texture is almost like mashed potatoes puree, with right amount of garlic tang without being overpowering. The chicken kabob itself was so well marinated and tender it melts in your mouth and elevates this often overlooked protein into something so memorable. It's a perfect meal and their consistency is appreciated.
